  1. Thanks to all. Birthday over, back to normality.
  2. Been playing WoW?

Yes, it would be most useful and I'd love it.
  3. Everybody sing!

Oh, the grass is always greener on...
The other side of the fence.
  4. *cough* It shows the whole title on my screen.
  5. Actually, when a thread starts saying that the servers are empty and the game is doomed, there are plenty of people agreeing, and a lot complaining about another DOOM thread.

When a neutral thread starts asking if people would move, most people say no.

Doomsaying is quite popular, so I think your assertion is false. However that's just my opinion. And I don't personally mind what you do or say. Doesn't disturb my peace and quiet at all.

I know this will cause up roar but would gladly accept having to change toon names so I would be able to get teams and play in zones that feel "alive"

    [/ QUOTE ]

Probably not. There was a whole thread about it and the general opinion was that you would be in a small minority.
  7. So, I find it interesting that Ol'Spiderback has his birthday the day after mine. That makes him a Virgo.

    Probably explains a lot.
  8. A lady would never tell that!

Oh, hang on... 44, going on 10.

Better script/macro system, especially allowing macros to modify depending on what modifier you select. (Alt/CTRL/Shift/etc)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sadly, this won't work because those modifier keys already do something. One of them activates autofire mode, IIRC.
  10. A: My first character, War Crow, was my first 50, however, in the time between levels 1 and 50 I filled my alt slots and probably deleted a couple to be replaced, and levelled one of those into the 30s.

B: Pimped? This is something to do with IOs then? They weren't around when I used to play. I've started adding them to Crow, but I'm not buying many set IOs because I'm not that rich.

    SG Sub-divisions

And quite a good one, especially for the larger groups. Besides the obvious roleplay uses, this has utility in that under-used mechanism known as Base Raids. Simplest use would be marking off the different raid functions, but I'm pretty sure people could come up with different ideas, depending on what functionality is made available through such a system.

It could also be used, for example, to differentiate main and alt characters.

    Biographies!

    [ QUOTE ]
I just haven't thought out what details about the character that's not immediately apparant from the graphics.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, my bios always have one thing in them:

    Biographies!

Rikti are Science origin, however, she is obviously an alien. I'm going for Venusian, since Martians are green. And she's female, and we all know Men are from Mars, etc.

Do you think about the background before you design the character? Does the character background come after you’ve picked the AT or before?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Both. Often, I come up with a suitable background based on a desire for a specific combination of AT and sets, but I also come up with a concept and then find the right At/sets for the concept. And sometimes neither.

War Crow was going to be a kat/regen Scrapper from the start and I came up with a weird background for him after building him.

Angelica was inspired by a song, and the choice of fire/fire Blaster went with it. Jason Caine also stemmed from a background and the choice of powers formed out of that background.

Velvet was actually a toon I made on Test when the morphology sliders were introduced and I just picked the AT and sets so I could get to the sliders. Once she was made and I played her for a little while, a character developed and so a background.

My backgrounds are never complete until I roleplay the character. I have a basic set of mindset rules and a rough idea of the character's history worked out, but I only really work out a full background through interaction with others.

What would be more useful TBH is some form of inventory export function

    [/ QUOTE ]

/signed, int triplicate with a faked presidential stamp.

A couple of other export functions would be nice, build and slotting export anyone?

    Shield Assault

IMO most defense sets don't make sense, so i hope shield is a good one.

    Out of interest, why?

The raid took place after an officer was already killed, and the Clockwork proven hostile. The raid was not unprovoked.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I didn't say it was, try reading my posts before replying. However, BS's blood rage was the result of hearing about police deaths in a firefight and fire which could well have been predicted. It's probably actually bad storytelling on Cryptic's behalf. A seasoned police officer would not behave like that, though he might have gone hunting CK after the officer was killed on the street.

    [ QUOTE ]
I have to wonder if you and the others condemning BS are the same guys in DND who label Drow as evil, after slaughtering an enclave of them and selling their stuff on the market. Double standards annoy the hell out of me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nope, I've never attacked a Drow village in my life, even IC. And in LRP I play in the 'evil' faction. Double standards annoy the hell out of me too, but the game you're playing has a largely Golden/Silver Age background to it. Blue Steel's story was one of the earlier attempts to add something a bit grittier into it. I don't think they did such a good job, but the whole point was to give BS something of an edge. Without it he's got to be the most boring trainer of any of them out there.

PS. An established tenant of Good in games which have fixed alignment systems is that it is not only good to kill Evil and steal their stuff, it is actually sacred to do so. It helps if you can find an orphan to bring back to a monastary to be 'raised correctly', but just killing Evil is a good thing. That isn't double standards, exactly, it's more to do with the conventions of a hard-line alignment system.

Thankfully, that doesn't exist in CoX.

PPS. Drow are evil, or rather they should be. What actually annoys me a lot is the fact that everyone who makes a Drow PC makes them good. Good Drow should be a couple of percent of the population, not 95%.

Keep smiling and ignoring the fact that they should be all over Steel and Skyway.

I don't recall many Arachnos goons in those two zones - I think longbow are better off actually in zones where Arachnos are found - plus the two training zones

    [/ QUOTE ]

*shrug* Again we come to a point in our discussions where I decide you aren't worth discussing anything with, GG. I guess I should learn my lesson and avoid getting into these things where you can just say the same thing over and over until people think you're right.

Valkryst made much better points. Let's leave it at that.

I'm assuming neither of you bothered to read the full backstory?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Perhaps you should have another look.

    [ QUOTE ]
He had murdered a number of police officers and fled with his robotic guards.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Now, that's a skillful piece of extraction you've done, and in return, I'd like to quote the paragraph before the one you quote.

    [ QUOTE ]
When the combined task force of heroes and police raided the warehouse, all hell broke loose. In the firefight that ensued, several propane tanks were ignited and the warehouse caught fire. The robots fought on, ignoring the flames. When the heroes and SWAT Team finally broke their ranks, it appeared that a number had escaped, including the young man. Tragically, three officers were killed in the fight and fire.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So, Blue Steel beats the snot out of the Clockwork King, not because of the officers killed by clockwork in the past, but because of the ones killed in the fire and fight at the wharehouse. Now, if he had tracked him down to take revenge for murdered officers, then that's one thing, but BS is taking his revenge for damage inflicted on the police when the clockwork defend themselves after a mass invasion by heroes and police.

Beyond that, the boy was clearly injured, he is being carried through the sewers by his attendent sprockets.

Yes, Blue Steel is getting a bit of a hammering he may not quite deserve, but you are attempting a whitewash. CK isn't a nice guy, BS should have known way better and definately acted above and beyond the limits he should have set himself as a hero and ex-policeman.
  21. Did it yesterday. Died once against Scirocco, but Citadel managed to stay alive and keep him busy while I got back and trashed him. Aside from that the biggest issue was keeping the 'team' together and stopping them getting left behind.

    SPOILERS Ahead

Went into the fight with about 6 of the heroes, which was a good job since I had to jump up and down to try and hit the stupid Jade Spider and it would have been really hard without all that nice ranged damage.

Funniest bit was the fight with Manticore. With Ms Liberty, Swan and Mynx in tow, poor old Manticore didn't stand a chance! He was down to his last couple of hit points by the time I got into position to hit him.

If anyone is still reading, there's one tip I can offer. If you're freeing the heroes in the last mission, seek out the ones on the island early, and leave the ones guarded by villains to last. I figure you should be able to get the full compliment of Phalanx and Vindicators for the final battle if you do the freeing in the right order.

All in all, it was pretty easy really. Don't know what I was worried about.
  22. (( I may be interested. Don't get to do much villain-side RP. I'll post an IC RSVP closer to the date. ))

The flaming crown of thorns is very nice though, expect to see a fair few Hellboy homages when that hits.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, of course a flaming crown could be used for things other than a fallen angel. I can't see me using the Nice model, but the Naughty one might actually work well for things other than an 'evil halo.'

DOWN WITH LONGBOW (unless I'm on my Necro MM in which case Braaaaaaaains. Nom nom nom)

No, that's Vanguard you're thinking of. Longbow has no brains.
  25. The one bit of missing information seems to be whether these are useable on a character which has not had auras unlocked at level 30.
