  1. No, he's talking specifically to Nightmarer.

Anyway, I agree with RealDark. Don't go around mixing the DOOM threads. You dilute the DOOM. Don't dilute the DOOM, people!
  2. Technically, it probably applies a 2 minute duration Stealth effect every couple of seconds, but it's the same thing really.

I tend to agree with Wiffle (despite his avatar). If someone's on my ignore list, why on earth would I want to team with them. If someone would potentially be on my ignore list, why would I want to team with them.

Your comment makes no sense, Liz.

Over past 2,5 years of gaming I have a total of three persons on my ignore list and a number of trial / sell alts. You have to make it really bad to reach my ignore list.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think there's currently one person on my ignore list. They tend to get put on transiently if they are being persitantly irritating right now, and then deleted later since I'm unlikely to ever see them again.

However, the point stands, why would you want to team with someone you dislike?
  4. I think it's supposed to be fixed on Test.

Or to be exact, the corruption in the data file is supposed to be fixed on test, so the crash swapping characters may be fixed.

See what happens when I13 hits live.

For the curious, 49710 is derived from 2^32 (Largest 32-bit integer), or 4,294,967,296, divided by 86400 (60*60*24 - the number of seconds in a day).

So, if for whatever reason the game thinks that you've played a character more recently than the time you're looking at the login screen (Probably due to small client/server time differences), it wraps the time around to the highest number it can use (49710).

Are you the love-child of Johnny Ball? Only HE used to know numbers like YOU do...

No, you just have to have the vaguest clue about computers...

edit, anyone know if I can get a RL ignore function to deal with the missus' nagging?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, but using it generally ends up with you being unable to ignore her hitting you round the back of the head with a frying pan.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If I take SR can I not buff up elude with an IO set to avoid said frying pan attack?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Unresistable. PvP situation, 100% critical chance.

    NCSoft Q3 Report

    [ QUOTE ]
I think it's time that the devs held a consulation with the players to see what we think - not just those few that post here.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And what results do you think they're going to get?

Players, and I mean all players, have about as much clue as a fried bean what's good for a game. Oh they think they do, but their idea are almost invariably subject to their own point of view and therefore have to be parsed by the very people you are saying need to consult their customers to find out what to do.

In practice, NC did put around a survey to various SG's in game about a month ago. One of the things in it which seemed very popular was the Mission Architect. That's the same Mission Architect which is spawning threads all over the place saying "oh, yeah, I'm sure it'll please a few players, but the vast majority will think it's boring <self-censored> and won't use it."

If I were NCNC, the last group of people I'd ask about the game was the players. I might listen to them and see if I could spot anything useful. I might put some rumours out and see what came back again. But ask them? Nah.

Hmm, maybe its nod a good idea after all, I just thaught if people could copy a toon over it'd just save time, but I didnt see the exploits of it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Beyond any exploits, there's the fact that Test is Test. There is no reason to believe the data on it is stable, or safe to copy to Live. Transferring something from Test to Live could result in you losing characters, the server crashing, all sorts of lovelly things.
  11. It's a cloudy day full of heavy showers today in Paragon City. Expect a high of around 12C and take a rain coat. It's a good day to stay at home and read a book. The rain will die off as the evening progresses, but the cloud will stick around, keeping night time temperatures to a faily high 8C.

Tomorrow we may see a bit of cloud, and those temperatures will rise again. Looks like Friday could be a nice day for getting out into the War Zone and cracking some Rikti skulls.

    Janson?

Jason. Jason Caine, you may not have met him. And I was having a really bad night last night.
  13. What's wrong with Columbia's head? It looks rather good to me.
  14. Meh... I got logs going back to 2005, and that isn't even all the way back to the start of CoH, plus there's LARP, plus there's PnP... No way am I dredging that lot for some 'favourite RP moment' which will get dropped in favour of another one at some point anyway. I'm just too lazy.

Mind you, War Crow's harem was funny.
Velvet and Jessica were often funny.
Janson and Dinah is... worse then Richard on Viagra...

    the angst! it burns!

Which may explain how I missed it...
  16. PRAF, tell him!

You'd have to dig around in the posts the devs made prior to the Invention release issue. Specifically, the game was not rebalanced to take into account IOs, and specifically sets. They are an entirely optional feature of the game which are mostly of use to 50s.

And why are there pre-50 IOs... have you actually bothered looking at the values they give?
  17. Thing is...

Inventions are the Over 50 Charater Progression System.

Really... that's what they're there for.
  18. While thankful that I did... how did I miss that?

It was, indeed a QR. No specific slight intended to anyone.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. I can get a bit twitchy as the day's coffee starts wearing off.

This is why you should never let the caffeine wear off. I recommend extensive use of Red Bull for that "bouncing off the wall" feeling at bed time.

To be frank, I've had to put up with Issues which contained, for example, PvP and the Arenas, which were of no use to me what so ever. If it turns out that the MA is of no interest to 80% of players (which I doubt), it will still have been interesting to more people than some of the Issues were.

Sense of perspective, please. (Kidding myself... Interwebz.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

You aint had to put up with an issue that contained one thing only that had no interest to you what so ever.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Uh, yeah, he has. He just TOLD you he has.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Uh no, that was his problem not this companies. I cant remember another issue that contained 1 thing only, can you?

All the rest contained a selection of things for him to find boring.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, you really aren't getting it. I4 added PvP, and to support that there was the Arenas. There was, basically, nothing else in I4. I doubt whether the absolutely only thing in I14 will be the MA. There will be dribs and drabs, as there was with I4.

I6 contained the required compatibility code for CoV. If you were not going to buy CoV, you were going to get almost exactly nothing from I6.

That's two issues. I'd also point out that I did buy CoV, and so was not left with nothing in I6.

The point is, yes, they have put out terribly boring issues featuring one basic thing before, and we all had to put up with it for those who did like it. I suspect that the MA will actually be a lot more popular than the nay-sayers would like it to be, so making it a great deal more useful to far more players than I4 was, and possibly even I6.

  22. Not from the description you gave:[ QUOTE ]
Red names have admitted it could use a look at (it's actually two TFs they welded together when they found the early game's mission system couldn't support follow-on TFs), but as with many things it's a question of finding the time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

A beginning TF should not be double length and (from what I remember from previous discussions) boring as a week in Cleethorpes in January.
  23. SO, really, thread title should be "Scrap Positron's TF and replace it with a good one," yeah?
  24. [ QUOTE ]
Maybe it's the immediacy of it. One thing I loved about Usenet was being able to take time over the replies, and how conversations would wait until you had time to deal with them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    a. Believe me, immediate responses are very rare in online RP.

    b. That very disjointedness you like about USENET RP is why I find forum RP to be a total waste of time.
