    Next Halloween

I'm currently operating on the assumption that the OP really enjoyed the Wrath of the Lich King pre-launch event in WoW.

    [ QUOTE ]
Anything with PvP which is forced on me during a raid?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, this game has gone to considerable effort to make sure that no one ever has PvP forced on them anywhere. If they made this change they could actually have people logging off for the duration, or cancelling subscriptions.

This is not WoW. PvP is not an integral part of the game. Never suggest something which forces PvP in the normal city Zones.

Actually, I'm not even sure it's possible to have PvP in the non-PvP Zones.
  2. I got 240 of them sitting around in a big pile... never been on a raid.

Anyway, the 50/5 thing was a suggestion, not an absolute.
  3. Some 3 part sets for Healing and Endurance Mod that are useful on auto powers...
  4. Something else to use Vanguard Merits for. Essentially something a bit like the Ouroboros portal, but it takes you to the teleport portal in the Vanguard base. Maybe 50 Merits for 5 uses.

... even though I said you'd never see me return, the pull of Paragon was too much and I'm back

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wimp! I lasted over a year, at least.
  6. It's a sunny day! Unfortunately it's only 3C and there's a could wind coming in off the Atlantic, so wrap up warm. It will drop to a low of -5C tonight, but the wind will lessen.

Temperatures will continue to rise tomorrow, when we're all back at work.
  7. (I wasn't going to bother doing this, but looking at it, anyone at GG has the potential to be frostbitten, so...)

With partial cloud and those 25 mph wind gusts, the wintery -3C out there in Paragon feels a lot like -9C. So wrap up warm. With the temperature dropping to -8C tonight, it's a good night to stay in, stay warm, and stay safe.

Tomorrow the wind should drop, and the temperature should rise a couple of degrees above freezing.
  8. The server isn't down. I'll tell you that.

Interesting variation from the standard rules.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Its a Global Bonus, so follows the Global Bonus rules, 100% active 100% of the time

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh, it's a Global? Fair enough.

on a female character some of the costume pieces that look good on males look weird

    [/ QUOTE ]

And very few of the jackets look any good on a male. The sleeves always look like they've been stuffed with newspaper or something.
  11. Glad +Stealth doesn't work that way.
Interesting variation from the standard rules.

Are you mental Sapphic?? All in all nice work, shouldnt knock yourself mate

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm thinking, skip the chunky boots. What's with you and chuncky boots, Sapphic? Seriously, chunky boots look good on huge model Tankers. That's about it.

    [ QUOTE ]
Plus I like the battledress for Ni, Raven, subtle use of the armour pieces, nice look

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thank you, I like the Stealth set as the base and while Ni is a real Vanguard junkie, I didn't want to go too overboard on the heavy armour. She's dual-blades, and all that sharp, pointy ballet really doesn't go well with buckets of armour. So she protects her vital areas and has what are essentially small shields on her arms.
  13. Well, I already posted something, so this may count as cross posting but Hippo Bopday Ghostie.
  14. Okay, well, I couldn't say I'm totally satisfied with many of my costume designs. Quite happy, yes, but not really "wow, this one was good." I do have a couple I like, so here they are.

Nitoichi's leotard costume: This one was adapted after a little play. She originally wore a short dress and knee-length boots, and I switched to this design as much for roleplay reasons as anything. Ni is really an Image comics heroine and this costume really shows that off nicely, plus, who can resist a girl with sharp swords and thigh-boots?

Nitoichi's battlesuit: This has also been tweaked over time, mostly with the addition of Vanguard chestplate and shoulders. To be honest, I think I prefer the original chestplate I had and may go back to it at some point. Nice thing about this is that it's full-coverage and yet manages to show off the model's characteristic Image-style bodyform.

Argent Star: Argent Star was me having another go at a kheldian. She was created on Defiant and doesn't get played much, but I do like the costume. It's thematically good and works very well with the Peacbringer powersets, as well as having the clean lines of a fairly classic superhero costume.
  15. Okay, so I'm in a depressive mood... I'll try and come up with something funny later.

This one's a two way, split scene duet for Richard and Annette. Scenes of each of them with their respective partners, often looking on while Libby/Cass are doing something normal or silly around their respective living environments or bits of the city.
And the song is, of course: Who Wants to Live Forever by Queen.
  16. I got Genesised... so sue me.

Here's one for Z's character, Arrow Azure, and mine, Operative Seven, though I think she just gets to do accompaniment. I see it as a sort of montaged voice over for Arrow doing the verses with shots from the dirtier districts of Paragon City with people being mugged, street gangs, groups of Lost. Then the choruses break in following Seven leaping through the city, above all the noise and homeless people in the sunshine. Yeah, okay, so it's a nasty comment on how higher level heroes ignore handbag snatchers in King's Row. So sue me.

There is an issue if you level up your main build, then switch to your secondry build to level up, you can't change back to your main build for 15 minutes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, if you want to work that way, but there's no actual need to level up your alternative build until you wish to use it. When you do wish to use it, you're standing beside a trainer who can do the level-ups. The issue you're referring to is player stupidity. About the only real problem would be a need to fit enhancements, but we still aren't talking about a horrible, long-winded process.

    even WoW has animated hair

    [/ QUOTE ]

It does?! I've never noticed it. Character models in WoW are horribly basic.

    [ QUOTE ]
i still think female models have manly legs as well its always annoyed me, and the current facial editing options arent really a lot and the faces always look flat.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, my main has pretty feminine legs and I get some pretty good effects out of the facial sliders. One of my toons' faces is actually unrecognizeable from the original facial model until the right sliders are applied.

Considering that the game is as old as it is, it's only the most recent batch of games (AoC, WAR maybe, haven't looked at it) that have better character models and character customisation.

Of course, if they were to improve it, I'd be ecstatic...
  19. It's a terribly interesting subject, actually. Well, it is on a boring Friday when my stomach is complaining at me and I can't do much.

LotRO has no collisions, and I remember a complaint thread going on about having to stand inside mammoths to hit them. It's visually confusing and with some, very large, mobs you can't really see what's going on.

OTOH, attacking behemoths and the like in this game, you often seem to be swinging at air a lot because the bounding box is so big.

Over in WoW, the recently had to add bounding boxes to some mobs in 'cooperative' areas because opposing faction players would stand on top of the NPCs so that, when you clicked on the NPC, you actually initiated an attack on the PC. You would then get mugged by the local guards. This made various people lol... some people need retroactively deleting. Anyway, that's technically not an issue in CoX, but you could possibly have a situation where someone could render an NPC unuseable by simply parking a Huge PC over the NPC and stopping anyone getting to them. That's also done in WoW by griefers, usually using an Elekk.

Both mechanisms have their advantages and disadvantages. I prefer bounding boxes, but it does seem like the ones in CoX are a little over-sized for the models.

Since they've already got a board, they will need some time to copy everything over. That does take a while.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No it doesn't. Preparing the migration scripts WILL take a while, especially testing of them etc, but once everything is ready, it'll just be a matter of running a script. The actual transfer of the data won't take more than a few minutes top.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Pedantry doesn't suit you, FFM. Floating despots should just smite people for their impertenance.
  21. That's 'level up' obviously, not 'gain levels.' i.e. Next time you switch builds, if there are level gains to be taken, you would then apply them, but since you're standing beside a trainer anyway, that's not too terrible.

Edit If you think about it, a respec should only apply to one build, the current one. Would you want to be forced to rebuild both builds just to swap one or two powers in one of them?

I think I4 (Arena one anyway) went live on a Friday and they learned their lesson. They usually release on a Tuesday these days, from what I remember.

I work, I've never been at home waiting for the patch; I assumed it was applied as part of normal maintenance.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Not for full Issues - they like the dev team to be on hand for these, in case something goes pear-shaped. And as the devs are all on US time, that means Issue updates take place in our afternoons.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not totally true. It's applied as part of normal maintainance (10am shut down), but it goes on for longer, usually several hours. Well, it used to anyway. Generally this means it's back up for the evening.
  24. Time to get out your thermal spandex. While sunny with some scatterings of cloud, today's high is not expected to break 2C and tonight, it may drop as low as -7C, colder in that freshening wind.

Tomorrow: slightly more cloud and a strengthening wind will make it feel even colder than today.
