    No Post's....

(Due to the forum software sucking, this post is largely redundant after FFMs post, but I'm damn well going to post it anyway. )

Define 'Dev.' People seem to say 'Dev' when they mean anyone to do with the game.

If you really mean NCNC staff posting on the US forums, then, yes, it's Thanksgiving. I don't think people over here realise what a big deal Thanksgiving is in the US. It's pretty much as big or bigger than Christmas here.

If you mean the renames here... they aren't Devs, mate.

I would like to see a button added to the wentworth interface that will empty the remainder of my salvage and recipes and list them all for 10 inf.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why are you selling stuff at the AHs for 10 Inf? Nothing I have ever gets listed that low. If it won't go for the price I can get from a vendor (and that means 300 Inf or more for Invention Salvage) it doesn't get listed.
  3. Today will be cloudy with some showers, but at least it's a little warmer. Expect a high of 10C, a little colder in the wind. The clouds will lessen as the day goes on, clearing by evening. Night time low will be -2C.

And thos clear skies will continue into the weekend, but it will probably be a little colder tomorrow.
  4. Yeah, they learned their lesson with I4, when they all had to come in at the weekend 'cos the the servers were falling over at ten minute intervals. Now, because NCSoft seems to be the only games distributer in the world who actually likes their staff, they do it Tuesday now so that little problems like that can get ironed out during the week.

What the heck do you guys have against the Welsh?!

    [/ QUOTE ]

The English have something against everybody, even the English.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
In Hereford you can shoot a Welsh person on a Sunday, with a longbow, in the Cathedral Close.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Most of the Marches towns still have bye laws like this that never quite got repealed. I recall one place where it was legal to shoot Welshmen crossing the town's bridge.
  7. In case any New Vigilants members hadn't been told:

Cindersnap will be having lunch with those who haven't gone off elsewhere to scoff loads of food with family (or just the ones who fancy two Thanksgiving dinners) as an 'alternative family' gathering. It's private rather than open, but I thought I'd stuff it in here for reference.

Nitoichi and possibly Liberty Girl will be there. Neither have family who do much celebrating. Libby's family are probably long dead. Ni's Dad is dead, her brother is a cabbage, and her mother has the worst deal, she's in Orlando.
  8. I do hope all your heroes will be wearing festive turkey heads and celebrating by giving Nemesis a present.
  9. Happy Thanksgiving! ANd it's looking like not a bad day either. Some clouds in the morning, giving way to sunny skies in the afternoon, light winds and a high of 8C. A little more cloud overnight and a low of 1C.

Tomorrow, expect rain in the afternoon, but some warmer temperatures.
  10. Ah, but you can't exactly 'win' anyway. It's a personal objective thing. Since he was doing this to kick himself back into drawing, I personally think he's met that objective anyway.

    Menu has

The menu pops up with backslash or # (hash, or pound if you're American). The # key is most usual.

You can also configure a key to log out, except, of course, you do that through Keymappings, which would need you to access the Options menu item...

Ah I see an ulterior motive.

    Of course.

Out of interest where does the base tp drop you in the RWZ?

    [/ QUOTE ]

According to Vidiot Maps, the SG Beacon is SSE of the Vanguard base, just over the border into the Pavia region, near the Ace badge. It's in a sunken section which has a huge great statue in it (and usually a couple of squads of Rikti troops).

    Source
  13. But the internal base teleporter sends to and from missions, which could be to any location outside the War Zone. (It's actually that 'portal' I was figuring would be used as the internal end point for the proposed power.)

Also, you craft this teleporter using Vanguard terminals, sp presumably they aquire some form of personal keying which means an authorized Vanguard person is needed to operate them...
  14. Well, he's currently engaged in the artistic project of wallpaper stripping. We can hope, but I don't think breath holding would be a good idea.
  15. For what, exactly. You can only ever trigger one of these with that alt of yours.

Do try to think before you post GG. Just once.
  16. *shrugs* You always did have more faith in the intelligence of the average person that I did, Leif.
  17. They also have a teleport system for dispatching you to and from the Rogue Isles and sundry other random incursion locations. Beside where the Hero Corps Op/Fateweaver stands...

And then there's the teleport that takes you through from the base to the RWZ...

And the ones that take you from the buildings around the city to the base...

Isn't it a bit early to be drinking that much, Ghostie.

"Ninety per cent of the young people who seek treatment for compulsive computer gaming are not addicted." It's the bloody ingress.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Did you just stop reading after that?

    [ QUOTE ]
But Mr Bakker believes that this kind of cross-addiction affects only 10% of gamers. For the other 90% who may spend four hours a day or more playing games such as World of Warcraft, he no longer thinks addiction counselling is the way to treat these people.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you prefer to take words at face value, I still fall into the category of people who need some form of treatment. Fine, I'm not addicted, I'm compulsive.

The article is stated that anyone who plays computer games for more than 4 hours per day has a psycho-social issue. Is that better than an addiction? "No, sir, you aren't on LSD, you're just insane and think I've turned into a pink cow."
  19. I don't do TFs... I wait until after I've insulted everyone I can find at GG.
  20. Yeah, but actually having more than 2 arcs would not help as long as there is any limit. People are lazy. They will drop arcs in the middle and go back to them only if forced to. The original problem with gold arcs was that there was no way to tell you had them open and you just ended up drying up all your contact missions, not knowing that you needed to kill two arcs back in the 30-35 range, or something.
  21. Try again. The article says that traditional methods of dealing with gameing 'addiction' don't work for most gamers because the habit is not linked to a traditional model for addiction. It says that I have a 'social problem,' and that I am a 'compulsive gamer.'

If also says that it's a problem that I spend my evenings playing a computer game, otherwise they would not be talking about 'finding solutions'

    [ QUOTE ]
By offering compulsive gamers a place where they feel accepted and where their voice will be heard, the clinic has found that the vast majority have been able to leave gaming behind and rebuild their lives.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't need my life rebuilding. I don't compulisvely game. And I find roleplaying in an MMO rather more social than going down the pub, drinking too excess and throwing up in the gutter on the way home.
  22. To the BBC, it's newsworthy if it makes gamers look bad.

Try this one on for size: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7746471.stm

Apparently, I'm a gaming addict. I spend more than 4 hours a day playing. And I need to blame my parents because I'm not social enough.

Some people need to look at private clinics and consider how they make their money before filing reports based on their input...
  23. *sniff* Actually, I'd describe it as "no real data to speculate with."

The only great pleasure I take there is that, if they are actually right, it means the probability of Zombie invasions actually bothering me at all is between nothing and zero, which I find appealing.
  24. From the looks of the ideas people are coming up with on that thread, if they are correct, that's got to be the most utterly stupid mechanism for spawning an 'even' I've ever heard of.

However, I also suspect that it's wrong.

Way too many "I had it happen as soon as I turned in salvage" to go with the "it happens at the first turn in after midnight."
  25. [ QUOTE ]
only change I'd make is to put the TP arraval point within the zone, perhaps at the normal meet up point for mothership raids

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nope, and I'll tell ya why. I don't want this for zapping into the War Zone from the outer city, I want it for zapping into the base from inside the war zone when I've been running Borea missions and I can't be bothered to run all the way back from beyond the mothership past all the pylons.
