Annette grinned down at Jo. "Shadowe making an ENTRANCE and Bodi doing her best cyber-psycho routine. Apart from that, it's been fairly quiet." She paused and looked at the hordes before her. "For a given value of quiet."
-
Annette wandered to the back of the stand, where the light show wouldn't blind everyone, and murmured the sequence of meaningless sylables a Vanguard mage had taught her. She vaguely wondered, as the brilliant green sigil and accompanying light enveloped her, whether there was a fraction of a second where she was naked during the costume change. It was just the kind of joke she would expect.
A second later, dressed in her leotard and thigh boots, and with her daisho strapped around her waist, Nitoichi made her way to the front of the stand, still sucking on her lolipop. -
Annette handed BODICIA her autograph book with a grin. "I'd love your autograph, Bodi. You're a hero to me. Anyway, I've got Richard's." She looked around at the gathering throng. "I'm beginning to wonder whether I should've worn my costume. She glanced back at BOCICIA. "Can be arranged, if you'd like?"

Quote:"No, we don't want you on the Moon, I'll have to make do without the smooching. Have you bulked up again?" Annette did her best to drape herself around Jamie in a manner she thought might get him teleported into a lake at the very least. The pair offered their hands to Lance for a handshake, before Rushmore looked to Annette. "I think I can find the strength to sign my name for you, lovely lady." He grinned. "Photo too? No kisses though. My girlfriend will send me to the moon otherwise."
"Oh fine, you get the pretty young woman. I'll go see to these other fans." Cauter laughs, turning to the crowd following her. "Morning boys! Any of you want to discuss tech specs?"
Did you actually come here with the intention of embarrassing your friends? Ni asked. Not that I'm complaining. I think it's funny as hell.
"My normal convention-wear resembles my battlesuit more than this," Annette replied silently. Out loud she said, "Smile!" and pinched Jamie's left buttock just before the shutter clicked. -
Annette sautered, almost casually up the the Vigil stand in time to hear someone giving a short speech about heroes saving people from hospitalisation. The trail of drooling teenagers behind her was beginning to make her feel like the Pied Piper and she was vaguely hoping that talking to someone shaped like Jamie would put them off.
"Lance, is it?" she said, coming up behind the speaker. "Interesting name for a doctor. Appropriate somehow. Hello boys, want to sign my autograph book?" She gave the two costumed heroes a wide grin and then casually popped her lolipop into her mouth. -
There isn't a strong contender for the kind of character you're making. I have a pretty strong case for thinking that way because I have a similar character. I went for MA because that far better fitted the concept and I would not have even considered SS. OTOH, what I'd like is an upper-body MA set, which would match the concept much better.
So, pick whichever you like, really. I'd say MA is the better one stylistically, but it's how you feel about it that counts. -
Quote:Annette picked up her book and looked down at her outfit of spray-on T-shirt and mini-skirt. "I'll try not to encourage him too much, but I'm not promising anything. See you 'round the statue." Popping her lolly back in her mouth, she turned on her heels and made her way back out through the parting wave of nerds, adding a little extra wiggle to her hips, just for the hell of it.Fox leaned forward with a chuckle, signing the book with a surprisingly neat script, despite still wearing his full armour. Given the full face, blank helm, she couldn't see the wink and grin, but she would have herad the click of his tongue.
"Be more'n happy to give you that, and then some, darling," he said.
Vix clipped him around the back of the head, with an eye roll, smiling at Annette.
"Don't encourage him too much, hun. He's bad enough as it is," she smirked, looking down at Fox who was massaging the back of his head.
"I swear, I need to get some dampening added in whenever your around," he grumbled ruefully as he gently pushed the autograph book back towards her.
We have a small wake of nerds, Ni commented after a dozen yards. Lance and Jamie are manning the Vigil stand, we should drag a few customers their way.
Annette began to divert in a long curve around toward the spot Ni had highlighted on their internal map. By the time she could see the armoured form of Cauter she could almost feel the weight of spotty youthdom following in her wake. -
Annette looked up as her name was called, identifying Vix and pulling the lolipop out from between her lips with a soft 'pop.' "Hey, Vix. Just being a fan for once. Once in a while it's nice to be normal. Wasn't expecting to see anyone here I recognised."
Here eyes flickered over Fox and she replaced her lolly between her lips, sucking on it speculatively for a second while looking at him. There was another soft pop. "Besides, in this skirt I tend to get as much attention as I want anyway."
She approached the table through the crowd of conspiracy nerds (who appeared to part before her like magic, or possibly hormonal teenage nerds faced with an attractive girl) and planted her autograph book in front of Fox with a grin. "Please, mista, can I 'ave your autograph?" -
Soon (tm).
This month, probably today or tomorrow, but give them a chance. The east coast of the US hasn't started working yet, never mind the west. -

Annette Barrington wandered in through the doors of the convention hall having left a respectable period between the doors opening and her entry. Walking in casually after the main horde, she sucked absently on a lolipop, her other hand clutching an autograph book.
You're a hero, what on Earth do you want autographs for? Ni's voice echoed silently in her head.
"I haven't played fangirl in ages," she thought back. "Just go read a magazine or something. The Kapow! stand is over there, go check their website."
Oh yeah, like I want to read about hero's egos.
Looking around, she spotted the Vanguard stand and decided to head that way first. None of them would probably know her. They looked like team types. -
Ah, but War Witch had her own comic. And she drinks coffee in Pocket D. Clearly an upgrade from Posi.
No offence, Posi.
No, don't look at me like that!
Arrggghhhh! -
Quote:Interesting. I checked the directory, found .exe and .prv. Deleted .prv, rand .exe. Worked fine, no problems since.Pity you did not get any help in the main thread, but here is something that worked for a few players in my sg, they did this:
Back it all up just in case.
Leave the .prv alone. Is what we did.
Delete your old CohUpdater.EU.exe.
You should have a file called CohUpdater.new, change it to CohUpdater.EU.exe.
Just make certain you have a file called cohupdater.new or have downloaded the cohupdater.exe from the location that Rent gave in the main thread.
Hope you get back in. -
Quote:Your mistake is taking anything on a forum seriously. If you really need me to write <joke mode></joke mode> around posts, you really need to get out more.I'm sorry, I just seem to not have gotten the joke. My bad. Seemed to read perfectly serious to me.
Pretendy Fun Games, children. Pretendy Fun Games.
Tokyo: making corsets is less of a dying art than you'd think. There's a fair market for them in LARP circles, and you can dig up a few people who do it at most events.
The cultural references made me wince. The Goths I know would probably go on a killing spree if they were linked with the majority of that. Of course, in the UK, we have something of a different view of Goth and Punk cultures. -
Duly noted. Can't make fun of furries, Goths or lolitas. Check.
Quote:You've seen Sorayama's work, right? It's just the same way as people who enjoy playing robots in games don't dream of being robots or having sex with robots.
And then there's Avatar...
And all the catgirls...
Seriously: if you can't take a joke you need to get out more.
Cool gothic doll pictures though. -
Personally, I'll never look at Furries the same way again after that CSI Furry Convention episode.
Mind you, I'm still utterly perplexed that, considering all the stuff in I17, animated tails gets its own thread. -
Quote:I wasn't going to mention it.You realize that the "12 days of Christmas" refers to December 25 through January 5, right? The period is "Christmastide" or "Yuletide" (y'know, those Yuletide Carols?), and is followed by the Feast of the Epiphany on January 6.
Y'know, considering all the other issues. Of course, holding the event over Christmas and New Year would be even worse.

This has revolutionised WoW. Though, of course, we'd be accused of copying WoW if such a system was introduced.
-
Obviously, your character will be constantly followed around by a large mirror which makes your bum look big in your new costume.
-
Quote:Aggelakis, this is why I asked the players. Amazingly, I don't assume I read or hear everything the devs say.Positron has said (on podcast) they cannot say yet.
I imagine there will likely be a new system for epics for when a character changes sides.
Thank you, Derangedpolygot, it's not exactly what I'd like to see in way of an answer, but at least it's been considered. -
I'm partially posting this to find out whether they've considered it.
-
Don't know if this has come up before. Can't remember it coming up at HeroCon.
So, you're a Praetorian using a Villain AT who picked blue-side, or a Villain who's crossed over. You get up to level 41 and you want to take your epic pool. What do you do? Villain epics are based on patronage, and you can't get the missions required to gain that patronage.
Hero ATs don't have this problem since their epics are just another pool.
How's this going to work? -
Quote:Vigilantes can do Villain missions by teaming with Villains. It's kind of like they have perma-coop capability. As of heroCon, they wouldn't be able to get red-side contacts, so they wouldn't be able to get missions themselves. Also, Vigilantes can do *some* Villain missions, but not all, IIRC. And vice versa.
I don't know if it's written down anywhere, but I specifically remember it being said that they were planning some form of reward for those who stuck with their original side. They either didn't know what those would be in October, or weren't saying, and I've not seen anything stating what would happen since. -
Quote:I'm sorry, but that's an assertion with absolutely no facts to back it up. Game are just about to the point where they are dropping PC games entirely. I have to struggle to find them in supermarkets (who wouldn't stock CoH anyway) or HMV. My local Morrisons only stocks PC games in the £1 buckets. We'll obviously get players coming back who have left and new players who like yourself will see it via steam [as an example], but the number of new players would be considerably lower than if it had a boxset too.
I don't honestly know how much anyone putting a box on a shelf can expect to sell these days in the EU, but I suspect that, without a large amount of advertising (look at WoW, AvP, Bioshock) you aren't going to get more than a random few new subscribers from walk-in sales. An MMO isn't like a single-player game; you have to put forward a long-term commitment of cash to play it. Impulse buys are likely less important.
I can't prove that. You can't prove that walk-in sales of boxes in shops is going to amount to even a small amount of new players on the servers.
Quote:I've turned into a proper doomsayer last year or so -
Quote:Well, you balance me out then. I've never gone to a game shop to look for a random game. I have, however, gone browsing through Steam to see whether they had anything I fancied. (They didn't.)When i think to myself i want to buy a new game i always go to the games stores in my town centre and look at anything thats on the shelves. I have never gone looking for a game to download via something such as steam, even one of my favourite games [football manager 2010] was available via download yet i didnt know about it until i had bought the box and it told me it was inside.
Quote:Think what most people are saying here is that it'ld be nice to have a boxset for ourselves [easy enough to get one shipped over if that desperate we'll all agree] but we are happy to download it too. The problem is, is that without a box set, the chances of an influx of new players is very low. I could be wrong and it could work out great but being realistic, not likely.
Now, we haven't heard what the plan for advertising, or seen what they do. I'd say TV adverts have about the same chance as Satan discovering three-feet of snow on his doorstep, but if we don't get any form of advertising aside from online stuff, then I think you lot can start whining again.
