  1. I'll check the scaling. Might be able to tweak it a bit anyway. However, I've noticed the same effect on a few renders. It may be an artifact of the angle or something.
  2. Okay, Shanna. I'm going to tweak Richard, 'cos he's not quite right, but Shanna... Well, I had next to nothing to go on here, just a vague description and a screenshot of the avatar. All I can say is, I was trying for striking, but not too striking. Hope it works.

  3. This is the first of a series of pictures I'm doing this weekend for which I'm having to do new models. The first of which is Shadowe, Richard Huntington III.

    Hope I got the likeness.

  4. Nitoichi is definately going grey. I've been working on the plotline for it since HeroCon, and it's been slowly happening IC since February. She may go villain and then wend her way back.

Not a 50, but Leannan may go grey.

Everyone else is staying put, either because I play them once in a blue moon, or they wouldn't.
  5. If it's just that one: Mu heritage is all that should be required to wield Mu (or any other) magic, and given the rate of genetic dispersal on this planet, approximately everyone has some degree of Mu heritage. My own, inherently un-magical heroine, Nitoichi, learned a Vanguard spell for changing her costume.

So, they unearthed his latent Mu genes allowing him to work magic.

    Or...

It's a techno-magic effect, and the Mu-vians have assisted him in creating a technological means of accessing Mu-magic power sources.

One thing to keep in mind is that all the Origins essentially come down to a form of magic (according to the Origin of Powers arc, I think), so there's no reason why a Tech hero can't learn to manipulate Magic powers. While the common view of magic among players is that "magic is what science hasn't figured out yet", it seems like there is actually a magical force/energy responsible for the power of magic. Tapping into it by means other than genetics or talent seems quite reasonable.
  6. (( Right, I lost track of who went on the search of Barry's flat and there were some questions. I've sent the info to Shadowe and _Fea_, but from the sound of it Lucy was there and I think Eddy went, and Bunny. So, either catch me in game for a debrief, or drop me a PM and I'll dispatch the notes if you were there for the, somewhat unorthodox, investigation. ))

Sticken Freighter Reveals Trade in People
Responding to a distress call late last night, Coastguard boarding parties discovered that the stricken freighter Southern Cross had a far from normal cargo. Twenty-three young women were discovered in a secret hold compartment along with one member of the crew who is described as 'assisting police with their enquiries.' Other crew members were found locked in the ship's galley. Several were badly wounded.

A Coastguard spokesman stated, "We believe they were attacked by a vigilante of some sort. We discovered weapons aboard the ship which had been fired recently. Some of the wounds were severe, one of the crew, the First Mate, is in hospital in critical condition. The women found on the ship were malnourished. They were taken to a secure hospital facility and will be repatriated as soon as possible."

Nitoichi's up to no good... maybe.

  9. I am constantly amazed how people of the Internet can take anything and whinge about it.

I swear if they announced that everyone was going to get free cash money with every purchase of GR, someone would complain.

In answer to comments above, since Ultra-mode is likely to be an extra level of graphics above the current quality levels, it would be possible to gate it on purchase of GR. Possible, not necessarily a good idea.
  10. Cover headline of the Galaxy City Herald, March 31st
    High School Cheer Horror

Rising star of the Galaxy City High School's cheerleading squad, Georgia Young, was found dead yesterday evening by grieving parents. Parents stated that Georgia had had an issue with the use of performance enhancing drugs for some time and that they had thought she was dealing with it.

A police statement has implicated the new designer Superadine derivative, Charge, in the death. Statements made by the school administration indicate that there is no general problem with drugs of any kind at the school and that they were unaware that Georgia had any such problem.

(( The story is syndicated to city-wide papers, appearing with less sensational headlines, generally on page 2 or 3. ))

    Secret IDs...

Well, okay, walk is actually for the male members of the player community. It is the most awesome fanservice power ever invented. When animated tails come in with I17 it'll be just about obscene.
  12. Gang Killings Rise Further
Independence Port was once again hit with gang violence as thirteen organised crime members were killed last night. Police are not commenting on the incident except to say that all the gang members were shot at close range. An off-record report indicated that the police were not looking for anyone in connection with the killings, suggesting that the murderer died in the attack.

I'm a roleplayer, and I think I'd have to agree. We've been writing 'real names' into the bio section for ages.

To be honest, there have been many additions to the game recently which are essentially there for roleplay so it isn't absurd (Walk being the obvious example), but really unless there's some useful mechanic behind the use of a 'Secret ID' field, it's just too cosmetic to bother with.

It seems to take an age before anyone in the crowd moves forward as any kind of leader. Faced with someone being reasonable it's like the mob doesn't know what to do. The ones who do, eventually, step forward seem a bit baffled, as though they aren't sure how they got pushed to the front.

The water bottles are ignored and enhanced hearing can detect muttering about drugs and poison... until one person, clearly more thirsty than the rest, takes a bottle and sinks it. When he isn't acting funny or dead after five minutes, the bottles slowly begin to vanish.

With Zorielle doing her best reasonable, the initially angry 'leaders' find their confusion increasing. They do remember the Towers being used as emergency shelters, and the concert that was held there. There's never been that much trouble out of the Towers and they bring in that huge Christmas tree every year. Why exactly is everyone here protesting?

Over the course of an hour or so, the crowd slowly drifts off. Most of them seem to be wondering what they were doing there in the first place.
  15. Bit like Techy.

My characters are intellectual constructs. I'm not a method actor. Faced with some moral choice, I have to reason through how the character would respond, so it's not hard for me to play someone with drastically different moral views.

Now, someone once asked me to play a terribly angry homophobe. This I had trouble with, not because I had any moral problem, or an issue with acting through it, but because I discovered that I lacked the vocabulary. I haven't got the words to correctly express someone like that. If I want to insult someone, I'd do it with some complex series of expressions, not a string of target specific swear words. That particular thing was hard, but I'm rather proud of the reason it was hard.
  16. The crowd at the Salamanca Campus has grown and a smaller crowd has developed in Steel Canyon after a rumour spread that someone was lecturing there in magical theory.

A man is killed in Brickstown after a group of protestors rush the security guards at a Crey facility. (Amazingly) the man dies in the crush against the gates, not due to Crey security activity, but the news of his death makes it into the afternoon papers. The Times reports the event fairly evenly, but the more tabloid papers are pretty heavily sensationalist about it.

Outside Unity Tower, a crowd has developed. Half of them want to lynch anyone doing magic and the other half have heard about some giant super computer with arrays of weaponry and want to lynch Bodi (not that they know that name).

(( If anyone else would like a crowd of mean-spirited types to turn up outside ther gates, please feel free, I can't know every well known hive of technology or magic. ))

(( Last night, I was getting vibes that people were thinking their bits of information were irrelevent considering what Shanna/Cassandra had uncovered. If any of that is OOC, please don't go there. The only person who gets to see all of the lines of enquiry is me, and some of you have uncovered things no one else has. ))

But they don't make d50s. You can get d100s, but those are weird. You'd have to roll a lot of d10s and do the maths.
  18. The crowds outside Crey, Huntington and Longstaff facilities have now grown to sizeable proportions. There are placards. A rumour is circulating that a Crey riot squad attacked a group of protestors and that deaths were involved.

In the normally quiet quad outside the Salamanca University Campus, a small group of protestors have gathered demanding that all teaching of magic be stopped and that the library there be searched for 'books dealing with evil magic.'
  19. (( Can we keep this out of this thread, please. If this is going to cause this kind of conflict, I'll wrap the whole thing up in short order. Either way, take it to PM if you want to argue, please. ))

    Guns Don’t Kill People
An editorial feature by Alex Carpenter.

Is Paragon City becoming the gun-crime capital of America? Recent reports suggest the answer is yes. In the kind of activities we normally associate with the neighbourhoods of New York or Los Angeles, gangs are reportedly resorting to drive-by shootings. The use of both conventional and high-tech weapons is on the increase as street gangs and criminals alike resort to ever more extreme measure in their quest for power and desire to suppress those attempting to curb their excesses.

This reporter has spoken to police in a number of precincts who have expressed concern over the rise in gun crime, particularly in the use of explosives and high-tech weapons systems. One officer, who wished to remain unidentified, said, “It’s getting like we’re going to need power armour and blasters just to do street patrols.”

Where are these weapons coming from? No one is willing to say. There are rumours of weapons caches with company names on being confiscated in several districts of the city. This reporter has been unable to find anyone willing to talk on record about the finds. However, with companies such as Longstaff WarTech, Huntington Technologies and Crey Corp. producing high-tech equipment and weapons in and around the city, one can but wonder whether some of their produce is making its way, into nefarious hands.

(( People reading this article may feel a stronger than normal urge to do something about this. Or not. ))
By mid-afternoon, people have begun gathering outside Crey, Longstaff and Huntington facilities. At first it's in two's and threes, then larger crowds develop.

Crey deploys tactical troops around their facilities, but there are no incidents.

The only reason to do so is if you want DP and/or DS early. It's a binary key online purchase. Prepurchase won't get you anything else faster. As far as I can tell anyway.

(( I'm posting this here since other heroes hanging about in Galaxy may start to notice a few things as well. Call it atmosphere. ))

Galaxy City's cops are a little more subdued than might normally be expected at the moment. There's an undercurrent of anger there as well. Anyone who is a known magic user may find they get short shrift from the local cops. There's a lot of muttering about fiendish magical rituals and something needing to be done about it. Conversations tend to drift to the deaths of the two children and people start to get angry and then silent.

The population around Gemini Park won't talk to strangers about the crime, not with anyone watching anyway. People are nervous and angry. No one actually saw the bodies, or the ritual, or anyone dumping bodies, or anything incriminating at all, but they all know that magicians killed two children and left the bodies in their park. Anyone who uses magic is going to be looked on with considerable suspiscion. Shopkeepers may even kick them out.

The only people around the area who seem relatively unaffected by the whole deal are a group of men working on the old home depot building beside the park. They aren't locals and are only there 9 to 5. If asked, they are refitting the upper floors for a Miss Barrington, but won't go into any more detail than that.

Hellion activity around the park is, if anything, a little lower than usual.
