FFM, I've done a roleplayed battle. Don't bother. There really isn't a point.
The PvP system is so unbalanced it isn't worth doing.
The probability of a bunch of PKers deciding to trash it for fun is too high in the PvP zones.
This is why I've always considered the RP potential of CoH+V to be more or less none existant. -
The Other Ones.
Members: 100k/20k = 5.
Players: 2
Active players: 0
Which is to say: I have two alts in there which I play most of the time, but I do not collect Prestige anymore. It's a waste of time and energy.
Edit: You're onto a hiding to nothing with this Hiki. The only way these costs will be changed is if it's unbalanced considering the American SG figures. We don't count. -
Well, you'll just have to come over for the next "girly weekend" and us guys can stand around with our chests puffed out talking about beer and women and belching and stuff.
-
Right, tickets and hotel room booked. We'll be around both days, but I'm not sure when we'll arrive on Saturday. We'll be heading to Harwich on Monday to catch the evening ferry over the the Netherlands.

One stalker was hidden and said "you can't see me :P" how did i respond.... popped an insight and one shotted him, before he used his strike... So much for assassin strike there eh :P
[/ QUOTE ]
Aside from the fact that the Stalker above was obviously either an idiot, or didn't actually want to attack you and you just blasted him because you're mean (), I agree with your comments. Stalkers can't one shot Scrappers, Tanks, or Brutes (maybe, at high level, with Build-up and a lot of popped reds). Anyone well prepared enough can usually spot them, and a spotted Stalker is dead meat.
That siad, your tactic is going to start falling down when some of the Stalkers start going up in level. Hide+Stealth+Superspeed... You're going to need a fair dose of perception enhancers to see through that, though it is supposedly possible.
[ QUOTE ]
As for nerfs due to PvP, they shouldn't really need it, they realy aren't special in PvP
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah, but they can one shot low HP toons (can't do anything else, but they can do that), which is apparently unfair. They will get nerfed, hopefully ONLY in PvP. -

If by Birdy you mean Ravenswing
[/ QUOTE ]
He does, my main is War Crow and one of Zortel's characters took to calling him Birdy. It's kid of stuck... Better than being called Daffodil. -
Looks like we'll be there... probably arriving on the Saturday and leaving... err, don't know, but not on the Saturday.

[ QUOTE ]
hmm, still torn. ok, clincher. Ravenswing. In your opinion which was more "fun" ninjitsu or regen?
[/ QUOTE ]
Haven't been playing Ninjutsu long enough to say if it's 'fun'. My main in CoH is a regen scrapper. They were certainly fun, having great recovery and almost no downtime.
I'd go with Ninjutsu since it has some neat combinations of regen and SR (it has a self-heal anyway), and seems to offer far more to a Stalker in the way of being Stalker-ish. Hence, it's likely to be more 'fun'. -
I picked ninjutsu, though I had regen in beta.
I think ninjutsu offers more to the Stalker at higher levels. You are relying on DEF, which isn't necessarily a good thing, but the AoE Placate and Cone Blind are pretty cool.
Regen has taken a bit of a bashing recently and the removal of QR makes it even less attractive. -
Deluge: technically if this were CoH I'd say, "Come to Galaxy Girl on Union about 9pm and watch what happens. Try not to bring a totally anti-social character. Please use brackets to indicate OOC speech and keep that to a minimum. Send a tell to a regular if you have trouble."
All that advice means nothing in CoV, so I can't be much help. -
[ QUOTE ]
So, where are all the RPers congregating these days? Mercy Island (on the Darwin Dot) was a suggested spot, though its a bit out of the way to the residents of Port Oakes. Thoughts?

So far, we haven't bothered.
There is an OOC "RP Organisation SG" out there called The Concordat. You need to find one of the members and I don't have a member list handy to post. If you happen to see Lilith Pendragon about, that's me, I could invite you, but I won't because I'm Evil!
My problem with a GG-style meeting in CoV is that I fail to see the rationale behind it. With GG, heroes are (theoretically) meeting to let off steam, find out what's happening in the hero community, stuff like that. If the villains got together to let off steam... we should use the Arena. And it's more likely you'd be giving disinformation to your enemies than sharing intelligence.
IMHO, villain roleplay will rapidly turn into either an enormous angst-fest, or an enormous contest to see who can come up with the most sick/perverted/psycho character without getting banned.
If someone can come up with a reason why two dozen people who all want to take over the world for themselves would get together to discuss the latest gossip on who Lord Recluse is sleeping with... then I'm in. Otherwise... CoV is just a computer game. -
Just for the record, it also means you can't reuse those names for that period, and you can't reactivate the account to delete them without a full retail code...

I can see that becoming a rather boring affair where various toons sit around trying to demonstrate how hard/wierd/sick/psychotic they are
[/ QUOTE ]And how's that different from what you're doing now?
[/ QUOTE ]
Fundamentally, mate, that's an insult disguised as a joke. To reply in the same way...
Currently what we do is sit around looking at all the other heroes wondering how come they're so sick/perverted/psychotic and no one does anything about it. -
I was looking through the specs for the various ATs last night, just out of interest. Villains seem to come in two varieties regarding HP. Brutes have High, everyone else has Low.
I figure you can assume that Build-Up will see you 1-shotting any hero type classed as Low hit points. IIRC, Scrappers have Medium and Tanks have High.
[ QUOTE ]
(yeah... i wanna go kill heroes with my stalker!!)
[/ QUOTE ]
Hey, cool... what bugs me are the heroes who want to go kill heroes. -
Well, my Stalker went from nothing to level 7.7 last night. Some friends decided they wanted to PL me, basically, up to their level (6-8) and off we went. Team of 6, respectable xp gain.
Now, I expected to be a waste of space initially. Level 2 melee fighter in a level 5 mission. Managed to get a few useful hits in, that's about it.
Later, however, I found that while I was being more effective, I was quite sure the team would have completed the missions without a single problem if I hadn't been there. AS takes so long to wind up that the mob was usually falling before I got to hit it. It's spectacular when it works, but mostly I think I was shaving a couple of tenths of a second of some mob's lifespan.
That said, not one lost lock all night (apart from the ones where the mob died before the attack actually fired). I begin to realise how people with SS were getting 1-shotted in PvP during beta. -

[/ QUOTE ]
Good film though. -
[ QUOTE ]
Oh? Have fun then! Just you and Stef, or the others too?
[/ QUOTE ]
Stef, Pyremus (who you probably won't remember) and me. To be honest, I'd be seriously considering not going if Pyr didn't have a friend with a house within 25 minutes of the site, so we get to sleep indoors at night. -
I would humbly suggest that most of the roleplayers have probably had plans for the last couple of months regarding their villains and groups they might like to set up. I know Lilith's background thoroughly, she's been in planning for a while. I also know the villain group she should belong to.
For the sheer hell of it, I might hook her into the Concordat initially. Why not, for 10 levels she can't have her own group.
As for the 'get a lot of solo types together to level' thing... I think we'll largely end up with the same group of friends together. SG's really do seem to have some IC/OOC reason for existance beyond levelling, and maybe even RP. If they don't have that, they either never achieve critical mass, or fall apart again once formed. -
We're doing the "really cheap LARP experience" this weekend, so, no. (Monstering, and spending the nights on someone's floor.)

[ QUOTE ]
at least, unless a dev took note of that suggestion of being able to flag a base as "public" for entry...
[/ QUOTE ]
Tried entering a base? Public bases aren't going to happen. Large Coalitions are probably bad enough. If lots of people started listing bases as public, it would rapidly become impossible to select a base to enter. -
[ QUOTE ]
Is it possible to "farm" alts for prestige by repeatedly creating/joining/deleting?
[/ QUOTE ]
No. When you join, you provide 20k, when you leave, it goes away again.
Having had a look at the actual base system now... I'm of two minds. Anyone can have a very basic, one room base with no functional items as a refuge and a place to invite guests.
OTOH, an actual functional base is likely outside the budget of even a large group. The calculations the GoD have made suggest that any old group can build themselves a base, with functional kit, it just takes time. Lots of time.
On that basis, merging the groups is not going to work and, humbly, neither is the Concordat unless it is a roleplay group. I've had a non-RP SG for roleplayers for ages on Union and the only people in it are my alts and one of Aisla's.
Base-wise, unless it's treated as a pure resource and you can't expect to find it the same way next time you walk in since someone needed it to be an arcane retreat and last time you saw it, it was a laboratory, even a large group isn't going to be able to put in enough rooms to please everyone, especially if anyone wants functional items.
Roll on individual apartments. -
I don't know yet, I'll see what comes up when I start up the Character Creator. Haven't had a play since I6...

[ QUOTE ]
but I solo-ed fine against a lvl6 boss (some snake queen) and 2 minions
[/ QUOTE ]
Nice, but you don't state what level you were when you took it on.
For the record, I think I made level 8 or 9. I'm looking forward to going through it again (hopefully with sufficiently lower lag that I don't want to physically remove the game off the disc with my finger nails) and this time getting Placate and one or two other cool powers.
May not use /regen this time though. The Stalker set doesn't have QR, and some of the other sets look more attractive for use by a Stalker, Ninjutsu in particular. I'm just worried about the nerfing defense-based sets took and how playable they are. -
[ QUOTE ]
Hugely bugged.
[/ QUOTE ]
No change there then.
I mean, the SG system is currently a walking disaster.
