It's just smack talk and part of the fun.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And exactly the reason I don't play PvP games...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, it's not a reason to avoid PvP games, it's a reason to avoid people who enjoy them.

    Solo base/lair

    [ QUOTE ]
I agree. Personal bases (or apartments) can improve rpg style.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Personal quarters can also destroy RP communities. Most Neverwinter Nights servers with a pretence toward RP allowed player houses. Problem is/was, all the RP moves into the private houses and the community tends to devolve into cliques.

This in no way means I don't want individual houses, and they have been announced as something that Cryptic "are working on." Just don't hold your breath.
  3. Why is it almost every thread in this forum has to turn into a [censored] contest?

    Ridiculous

    [ QUOTE ]
My SG had these items after about 1 week and a half. Its grown in size but lets say the average over that first week was 20 members.
That means if your SG has only 5 members, itll only take you 6 weeks to get the base you want.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Um, your SG started off with 200k more prestige than hers did.

I've stopped collecting Prestige on my main, it is literally uneconomic. The SG has enough Prestige to create a one room decorative base and recreate it as needed. Having more Prestige just means more rent. I'll never be able to afford anything functional, so there seems no point in increasing Prestige only to have it dribble away on rent.

Bases were a feature of CoV I was looking forward to, as with so many things about CoH/V, it turned out to be a damp squib. Now I'm looking forward to these character houses. I'm not sure how Cryptic can make them totally uninteresting, but I suspect they'll find a way. OTOH, if they don't make it into the next Issue, I probably won't be around to find out how they messed them up.

    Hide DEF

    [ QUOTE ]
Well from what ive read the Base Def for Melee and Ranged while actually Hidden is quite small, around 3,5%, but the AoE Def being around 30%. However when reading the American forums, they say when runing hide but being unhidden the Def is around 2%.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd have thought it would be 2.5% and 1.25% like Stealth, but the 30% AoE is probably worth slotting for.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
Even so, after the AS is executed, the is always a pause of a few seconds beore another strike can be launched. If of course you are on your toes, you can be well out of dodge without breaking a sweat. I guess its just down to being aware of your surroundings

    [/ QUOTE ]

Technically, you can have the second attack queued and then you're pretty unlikely to get a shot in. The Stalker already has you on target lock, the only delay is if the Stalker has to move after the AS. It was working perfectly in PvE last night, PvP would be a little less predictable, I dare say, but a stationary squishy should be dead once a Stalker can get near.

Please note, this isn't personal experience I'm talking about (aside from the PvE comment above). This is largely based on the reports from the PvP areas during beta. A Stalker could 1-shot a squishy. There wasn't any argument about it, the discusion was over what should be done to correct it since 1-shotting was considered unfair by Cryptic. (Wish they'd thought of it that way with AVs in PvE.)

I think (again from PvE observations) that my tactic would be to have a Respite queued up, so to speak, and pop that as soon as I took the initial hit. If the attack doesn't kill you, this should be enough to turn a two hit kill into a multi-hit kill and you're and far more even footing; it's back to blaster versus (weak) scrapper. (Evidence: this is working for the bigger snakes. I can almost 1-shot an even level Lt, and I should get them on the second strike, but I never do and the heal they hit turns them into something that takes three or four attacks to take down.)

As I remember it from the beta forums it was Hide + Stealth + multiple applications of Grant Invisibility to put you beyond the perception threshold. I also seem to remember that this was being looked into along with the whole 1-shot business.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Your recollection differs to mine and others. Yes, its more than likely being looked into, but until it gets altered (Which may not be for some time AFAIK) Stalkers have a huge advantage in PvP.

    [/ QUOTE ]

His recollection is correct hower, Q. I was paying a lot of attention to that thread. Of course, to make it true, the Devs needed the target to have every perception boosting power going applied, so under 'normal' circumstances you would be right... depending on your perception of 'normal' I guess.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
    RP is only a game

    [/ QUOTE ]

Is that why they look at me so funny in ASDA?
  9. Don't worry, we'd make sure it was as bad as we could possibly make it.
  10. I'll be the aging hippy with long hair and (probably) a beard attached to the 6 foot younger woman. I don't think, as a couple, we're easy to miss either.
  11. Shush! I'm sure that's a bug.

Damn, they might notice and fix it now!

Oh, hang on, since when would the US Devs read a thread in the EU RP forum... we're probably safe.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
And I didn't even have to turn on the Crow symbol...

    [/ QUOTE ]

It said kat/regen. If there's anything I feel even semi-qualified to discuss (as adverse to my usual spouting off with no real knowledge at all), it's kat/regen.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
I think this is teetering extremely close to one of those "my way's better than yours" debates.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually it teetered and fell off the cliff around the time we got told we were a dictatorship.
  14. Or even Manchester, which would, at least be closer to Glasgow.
  15. You should be able to overlap at least two DA hits, and 3 def debuffs is quite right. Unfortunately, I only know much about running this with Hasten and haven't tried doing the attack chain maths for a non-Hasten build.

The basic rule is that the Def bunus from DA lasts 10 seconds, and you want to have two of them overlapping to get the best out. For me, that means cycling it every other hit, but if you use short animation time attacks you may be able to slip in two attacks between DA hits.

Running Hasten and no recreds on the powers, it's possible when cycling DA every other attack to get brief periods where it stacks up 3 times, but I've never got that reliable enough to be useful.

Two stacked DA hits should get you up to about a 65-70% Def bonus with 3 def buff enhancers.

    Edit:

You probably don't need Stamina anymore. If there's something you'd rather have instead...
  16. [ QUOTE ]
The general consensus seems to be that if you have a high post count or is generally well known you are exempted from certain behavioural rules that apply to others.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can assure you that you're wrong. I'm quite sure Bridger can assure you that you're wrong.

And I'm not going to pass the slightest comment on the rest of your post.
  17. Well, good news, there's already a plan to nerf AS!

Bad news, don't think it would save you in the situation you describe.

Basically, Cryptic don't want Stalkers to be able to 1-shot other toons, but since this one didn't, it wouldn't have saved you. And since, apparently, Cryptic don't mind if a Stalker can take you in two hits, yes, they do think that what happened was fair.
  18. This thread is very much an example of one thing about PvP I really hate. The constant contests to see who can urinate highest up the wall.
  19. I'll let Wordy discuss your post with you. You don't seem to like answering me.

    [ QUOTE ]
Having now answered your simple questions let me state again: If GG is not what they seek, other venues are open to the wanting roleplayer.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Where?

Genuine question. Whenever anyone posts asking where to roleplay, the non-RPers say "Union", and the GGers say "come along to GG, 9pm every night, you can also find some others who roleplay, I'm sure they'll post and tell you." That's the lot.

GG gets a lot of publicity from its players, because we like it. We know it isn't for everyone. We've known that since the first schisms. It isn't even always for me since I don't like some of the plots that get run. (Anyone who vaguely reads the GG thread should have picked that up.)

Thing is that the other 'venues' don't seem to make their voices known. The number of people I meet while out levelling who wander up and say hello can be counted on the fingers of one finger. I've never teamed with anyone who stayed IC through a mission unless it was pre-arranged. In fact, I've never teamed with anyone who has even attempted to be IC at any point in the mission without prior arrangement.

So... here I am, a new player, and I want to find roleplayers. Where do I go look?
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Please remember my point: Just because RP is light at GG doesn't mean RP isn't great elsewhere.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Hmmm...

Well, I don't recall myself or anyone else here claiming that the RP elsewhere is good, bad, indifferent or involves chatting to llamas.

You, however, have made the unsubstantiated statement that roleplay at GG is 'light'. Some of the best roleplay experiences I have ever had (and I'm including desktop, live action, and computer moderated roleplay there) have been at GG, and several of those have been anything but 'light'. They have also been funny, great fun, and very surreal on occaision, but not always.

Maybe, just maybe, if you got off your high horse and actually interacted with people (perhaps using one of those social heroes you say you have), you'd find out there's more to it than OOC chatter. Perhaps, just maybe, some of that OOC chatter wasn't OOC, but was 'heroes' talking about normal things instead of just beating up villains. Perhaps, if you think chatting about normality is odd for a hero, your heroes need to have more depth to them. Unfortunately, since you don't want to roleplay with me, or anyone else at GG, because we are 'light' RPers, I'm never going to find out. That's probably a shame.
  21. Actually, Doc, I do vaguely remember Divination, though only after I went through my logs.

Divination is/was a Level 5 Radiation Defender on the 16th of October. He was looking for a team and put out a couple of broadcast requests for such between 21:25 and 21:30. He then broadcast "Hello" at 21:41, I think responding to something from someone called Pasta Mancer.

Then, at 21:43, he put out an emote "Very quiet bunch". I don;t think we were being terribly quiet, but we were having a fairly heavy session of OOC chat... in Team, not Local. Jason was chatting with Memory about what would happen now Memory had got a hero license, Valzakerie was making ice sculptures.

To be honest, my logs for October aren't as complete as they could be, I was having a really off time for RP and the game, and didn't attend as much as I used to. However, that's the only record I can find of either of the two characters you mentioned. I do remember Divination, however.

One thing... if you're that immersive, what are you doing telling us what your character is thinking? I remember Divination partially because nothing much was happening and here was a new character to interact with, but I had no reason to interact. My character is no telepath, he can't read though bubbles, and he's not going to just leap in and talk to a stranger because he isn't like that.

'Social' roleplay takes effort. I'm not good at it. If Divination is any evidence, neither are you. Thing is, I try.

Frankly, if you don't like out style or roleplay, then don't go, but don't tell other people that they won't like it because all we do is sit around a statue and natter out of character. It's a lie, and I feel no restraint in stating that.
  22. Since you seem to actually want to talk now and not simply troll (this wouldn't have something to do with me reporting three of your posts to the moderators?), I shall repeat my question.

Which characters did you play? Who did you actually roleplay with? Or was it that you sat on the outside and watched, and never actually bothered trying?

Arrogant? Yes, you come across as arrogant. You also come across as someone with a grudge.

Pray, since an inactive account can be reactivated easily, why did you choose not to do so and started a new account? Where I an unkind person, I would assume you were banned and this is a second account you've created to get around the ban. However, I don't draw conclusions without evidence, unlike yourself.

The number of times when GG falls into total OOC chatter can be counted on a couple of hands, and it's been running for a very long time. You spend a few days there and decide that your opinion is more important than that of all those who do attend? Arrogant indeed.
  23. Would everyone please just ignore KiGrAn. He's trolling, plain and simple, and seems to be keen to do this in any thread he posts in. If I'd have noticed this before, I wouldn't have bothered with the post I made.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
Normally the GG meets degenerate into pointless OOC babble that can at best be described as laughable and at worst as inane.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Really? Normally? What characters do you play? And when? I notice you registered on the forums yesterday... how long have you actually been playing CoH?

For everyone else: don't be deterred from going to GG by people coming out with essentially untrue generalisations based on no real evidence.

Players will be sent to liaisons that will be outside the PvP zones.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    You know I'm amazed.

First, I'm amazed that an idea that hit my totally out of the blue today as a perfect solution has actually been thought of by Cryptic and will be implemented.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Just wanted to confirm that this is coming, and is another change based directly on player feedback and suggestions.

Did I mention I love you, Bridger?

    <pause>

In a manly sort of way, of course!
