correct me if I'm wrong - most, if not all, AT's have a +perception power to assist in picking us out.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok your wrongActually my blaster can't stop a stalker smashing him. My defender can't and neither can my scrapper. Ok the scrapper will accept the blow and wipe the floor with the stalker, but thats not the point. The one shot kill thing went into a huge debate on the old boards. I think the conclusion was that one shot kill is bad but 2 hit kill is fine.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sure he will khaine_star, We believe you, Stalkers are effectively scrappers that can hide, It depends on which power sets you pick tho E.g you would have no change against an energy melee stalker
[/ QUOTE ]
No, they aren't (scrappers who can hide).
Stalkers have Low Hit Points compared to a Scrapper with Medium.
AFAIK, Stalkers have a slightly lower maximum damage potential than Scrappers.
Anyone playing a Stalker as if they were a Scrapper is going to be face down a lot. -
Come on down. If you don't like it (and it isn't for everyone) you can always go find something else.
We don't bite, well, except for Jessica and she's only been known to bite inanimate objects. -
[ QUOTE ]
In the interests of fairness though don't put the name of whoever it was that [censored] you off enough to post here just state their AT
[/ QUOTE ]
To be exact, if you do put the name of the person in your post, Bridger will almost certainly delete said post and (automatically) any replies to it.
Since this thread is very likely to result in a huge flame-war, I can't see the thread lasting very long.
And, for the record, I've never had any problems in PvP, probably because I don't do it. But Warburg is a cool place to level. -
Take both chopsticks in one hand, place bowl near mouth, shovel rice into mouth. Seems to be the standard method the Japanese use. About as elegant as eating wearing boxing gloves, but you have to go with the culture. When in Rome, wear a toga and all that.

Scene I most needed mind-bleach for:
Playing Alex Reed's father. An unpleasant, bigotted, total and utter... actually, words fail me. The only thing I got out of it was realising I didn't actually possess the vocabulary to really do justice to this creep, a fact I'm rather proud of.
Oh, and there was that sense of closure when I got him mugged afterwards. -
If you give Minako an eating disorder, we will do something horrible to you, you know that right?
And the chef in the middle flicking food at the customers is what Stef was referring to as "the egg trick." -

It's the L40-50 PvP zone, coming with I1/7.
[/ QUOTE ]
I guess its slow to come because I7 also holds villains post-40 content?
[/ QUOTE ]
Or even post-40 villains. -
Well, I was in the Cirque base day before last and, being an active bunch of players, they've actually managed to get themselves a power room.
"Wonder what the power crystal descriptions says," thinks I.
So I clicked on it. Looked to me like I could attack it. Pointer was red, I think.
Please, someone tell me I'm wrong, but it might be a reason for keeping some SGs out of your base.
And before someone asks why they're in the coalition in the first place... there are idiots who like to be disruptive the world over. Some of them get into SGs... -
And the rest, as they say, is history...
Um, I'll have to think about this. Most surreal RP experience: the interaction between Jessica Kade and her mother Anna (or almost any other conversation between Jessica and one of my characters).
Jess and Anna are now down to a finely tuned weirdness machine. In Anna mode, I can now predict what weird stunt Zortel is going to have Jessica pull under any given circumstances. The most famous example being the napkin eating period and the time Anna reached out to stop Jess saying something, perfectly timed with Jess opening her mouth to speak.
Doesn't entirely make sense written down, you probably have to be there when it happens. And if you don't mind losing some of your sanity, a conversation with Jessica is always fun. -
He needs to meet Fusebox and Anna Marsden, undisputed Quake champions of Paragon City. (Possibly more than one Paragon City.

My exercise programme hasn't quite reached the state where I can mimic Crow or Jason, so I guess I'll be me too. Besides, I can't do the accents all night.
-
Don't start this, Unthing. Really.
There is now way that Q is going to admit that /DA isn't the worst scrapper set there is, and I'll beat anyone up who says different.
Please note: the above statement is a joke. It aims to amuse. If it doesn't amuse you, however, that's your problem.
Seriously, /regen is, unfortunately, probably the best scrapper secondary currently. I can just feel the nerfbat closing in on the back of my head as I say it. -
Does depend on the evening in question. Some nights we have everyone in costume, other nights it's alter-egos anonymous.
War Crow originally had an alter-ego, Dafydd Cerwys. Slowly, Crow stopped being Dafydd and started being Crow full time. Now Crow doesn't exist and the only version you'll see at GG is Dafydd, who's not the same person (yeah, okay, you have to be there). And Dafydd isn't even a hero.
Jason Caine started out with no super ID, and got himself a costume and mask later. He still uses his real name as a super ID.
I've been doing more balancing of Anna and Velvet recently. It used to be that Velvet levelled and Anna turned up at the statue. These days it's more common for me to pick depending on whether I can be bothered to rebuild Anna with a new costume. Anna is actually the most secretive hero about her identity that I have. -
[ QUOTE ]
It's the 'personal identity' that ussually visits the GG statue
[/ QUOTE ]
Disagree. People turn up as both and play as both.
Take Nevermore. Despite the fact that Alan Drake is terrible at remembering he's not a hero, Alan turns up independantly of Nevermore, and Alan tries quite hard to stop people discovering they are one and the same.
Velvet Vengence, actually changed her costume to hide her identity more. In costume, she wears a mid-length black wig which makes her look quite different to Anastasia Kade, who generally arrives with her vast amount of blonde hair. Anna never cared excessively about a secret ID, but she cares a little and tries to seperate them when dealing with strangers.
But those these 'pairs' of characters turn up as different entities as far as the majority of people attending know.
To be honest, one of the key parts to the super-hero mythos is the play-off between saving the world, and trying to keep somekind of normal existance. Not having that aspect of the genre available for roleplay would be boring, as far as I'm concerned. -
[ QUOTE ]
It looks like you spent I5 actually playing your scrapper.
[/ QUOTE ]
I wish!
No, Crow spent almost the whole of I5 in the late-30s doldrums. He got taken out to run the Croatoa TF, and when someone needed a big gun with them on a mission (so, mainly exemped).
I did spend a bit of time respecing him and running him through some basic tests, which usually involve me locating the biggest bunch of Nemesis in Crey's Folly and taking them on solo. That's where I worked out the tactics for the new IH. It seems to work adequately in most circumstances.
I actually spent most of I5 working on a couple of alts. I've just gone back to playing Crow, because I can power-level him in Warburg to 40 and then go back to running missions.
I should point out that Crow is kat/regen, possibly one of the stronger scrapper builds currently due to the use of Divine Avalanch. I feel a need to get Crow to 50 ASAP, actually, because I can't believe kat/regen is going to fail to feel the wrath of I7, if not an intermediary patch. That's why I haven't used my I6 respec yet, I'm waiting for all the dust to settle. -
[ QUOTE ]
I was playing as my scrapper last night and noticed that I solo in much the same way as with my stalker.
[/ QUOTE ]
Either you're scrapper is really badly under-statted, or you're stalker face-plants a lot.
I guess there is a similarity, but without that front-loaded damage, my Stalker would have a hard fight against the mobs she's facing (I know since sometimes AS misses).
OTOH, I was running War Crow through the Warburg instanced missions last night and he follows the same basic pattern. Wade in, kill everything. If I think it's going to get tough, I stuff IH on beforehand. Dull Pain and Reconstruction are emergency buttons, IH is used for pre-prepared trouble. -

[ QUOTE ]
I really quite like my Stalker.
[/ QUOTE ]
[/ QUOTE ]
Huh? Is it really such a shock?
I recognise the deficiencies, I wish I could do what she does with my main (scrapper). I like sneaking about killing things. -
With normal AS at level 13, Lilith can 1-shot up to a +1 minion, unless it has damage resistance. Yellow Lts take two hits normally.
Build-Up is cool, but it's waiting. At 14, she gets a travel power, SS, since she has Hasten. At 16 she'll get the ninjutsu equivalent of Practised Brawler, and I consider status protection more useful than massive damage.
To be honest, my Stalker is what my original Scrapper wants to be. I spent a happy half hour sneaking around a Council base the night before last. There were a lot of solo mobs and she just snuck up behind them and planted a sword in their backs. Might not sound very heroic, but a sneaky fighter is just what I wanted for War Crow. (OT: He doesn't even have Stealth now, the Concealment pool is IMO, not worth it at higher levels.) Anyway, I really quite like my Stalker. -

Level 50 character -> Exemps to 30 = Uber PVP char.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just to be clear on this: you're using level 50 as an example, right? You are not actually saying that a level 50 villain walked into Siren's Call and beat the snot out of you, you're saying that a level 31+ villain did so? Yes? -

It's just banter, RW
[/ QUOTE ]
I know, Syn, it's just banter... kind of like what football hooligans yell before breaking the teeth of the other pillock involved.
[ QUOTE ]
if you don't get it, fine,
[/ QUOTE ]
I get it, I understand the psychology, I just wish it didn't happen since it generates the impression that PvP enthusiasts feel inadequate about their attacks... or something.
[ QUOTE ]
but it's completely harmless and doesn't require your commentary after each occurence.
[/ QUOTE ]
It isn't completely harmless and it does need my comentary.
However, I only post once per thread, you seem to feel your comentary is required on every post. When you learn, I'll learn...

Sorry, Cryptic nerfed skill, didn't you get the memo?
-
Actually, there's a documented phenomenon of words being sort of concatenated. Two similar sounding words become one of them, usually the most well known one.
I'd expect Griefer to slowly become Griever over time, with the original meaning obscure.
Magnet and Magnate are a common example of this, btw. People are described as an "Industry Magnet" instead of "Industry Magnate". It's kind of funny when you think about it. -
The "Dev's point" is to heavily reduce the amount of Inf you get at higher levels. Simple as that. They don't like everyone being stocked out with SOs, it unbalances the game.
Please note: the view expressed above may not be those of the author. -
[ QUOTE ]
I don't think the AT is overpowered because AS can't one shot
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, they can. They can one-shot anything in the Low hit point classification.
[ QUOTE ]
Quickly, reroll as a Brute. The nerfbat is upon you.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, it is, we've known that since beta.
Now, if the nerfbat strikes and makes it impossible to one-shot someone in PvP... all will be right with the world. If it comes and affects PvP and PvE, I'll be livid. -
What were you doing with your AoEs?
[ QUOTE ]
its a pvp zone .. suck it up or don't go there
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah... the other reason I don't like PvP...
The villains are 'moaning' because they are at an extreme disadvantage. Because of the way the exemping system works, even though that hero is at the same level as you for combat, your powers are going to work a load better, because he's actually at that level, and you've been exemped down.
If they actually level-limited the zones instead of running the dump auto-SK/exemp system, the battles would be:
a. Fairer
b. Easier to work out if you've got valid balance.
