The badges which say they are for PvP rep aren't. They are actually for doing missions in PvP zones. I have about three "PvP Reputation" badges and the only PvP I've engaged in involved being one-shotted by a stalker in the safe zone and the guy who attacked me running away after I hit him once. My reputation is zero, and if it ever moves I'll be amazed.
If there are badges for PvP rep, you may have better luck finding out about them, either in Player Questions or PvP and Arena. -
You're quite right, my eye sight is apparently going. I read September as October.
Anyway, we always get the winner's in batches of three, I wouldn't worry about it... well, I'm not worrying about it since I haven't felt even vaguely inclined to post anything here in months. -
Um, it's only the 2nd and a prize was awarded for October. I realise that the population of these fora have the patience of a gnat, but give poor Bridger a chance guys.
-
Point. Regen probably should be in the Brute sets. Brutes are more like Scrappers than Tanks.
I still think QR got dumped because Cryptic don't like it. Not only that, but a lot of non-regen players don't like it. It got badly nerfed by ED, and one of the reasons given for ED was to nerf Stamina (less powerful than QR) and Hasten. -
On the other hand, MoG should be no use to a Stalker. A better bet would have been to put in some form of Phase Shift power, perhaps Phase Shift combined with a massive speed boost and an AoE placate. This is more in-keeping with the AT and no more out-of-place than MoG.
I disagree that Cryptic took a careful look at Regen and adapted it for Stalkers, I think they just needed a slot for Hide and picked the lowest level power they could throw away.
Actually, the only Stalker secondary I do think they looked at properly is ninjutsu, which is a beautiful concept set and well worth taking just for beautifully integrated, in-concept powers. -

How do you explain XP, inf, prestige?
[/ QUOTE ]
Xp is entirely OOC.
Inf and Prestige represent the amount of 'pull', influence, or favours either you, or your SG has.
[ QUOTE ]
What are your views on the hero licence and the asociated Security Level?
[/ QUOTE ]
The hero license is an IC legal document.
Security Level is an IC concept, an assessment of how capable you are and so what level of threat the city thinks you capable of handling.
There are plenty of ways around needing a specfic SL to get into zones, we bashed this all out ages ago.
[ QUOTE ]
Shops and enhancements, how do you make them work?
[/ QUOTE ]
I play a lot of magic heroes so enhancements tend to be little magical gizmos that can empower my spells. They have a reasonable IC justification for all of the basic types so I don't see an issue with them. There's even a little piece about 'fake relics' in the latest CoH comic.
[ QUOTE ]
Exemping and SK?
Training up/leveling up?
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't see the issue.
[ QUOTE ]
Respecs?
[/ QUOTE ]
Like I said, magic heroes. I tend to just have them mean he's decided to use some different spells.
That said, I've never got a respec from a Trial, only ever the free ones. Trying to justify a heavy dose of radiation having an effect on a magician that doesn't involve a massive cancer infestation isn't easy.

What do you ignore, what do you fabricate?

Far too much to list here. -

However, I would like to say that a negative attitude fosters negative responses from your environment, and I will attempt to take my own words to heart
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, my opinion on RP in CoV falls quite a lot inline with Wonka's, so feel free to tell him about his negative inclinations.
I see more chance of RP working within SGs where a specific hierarchy can be set up, than in a free-form setting of the GG kind. If I expressed negative thoughts regarding such a free-from meeting (that is, afterall, what this thread was started about) it's because I don't think it works in CoV. If you can get it to work in CoV, then more power to your elbow.
Negative thoughts may produce negative reactions, but enormous poistivity which results in failure tends to result in worse reactions. It's called expectation management. Cryptic are terrible at it. -
[ QUOTE ]
There stalkers not scrappers you want to play a regen scrapper go role one and chose stealth. You want a stalker well role one and learn how to play a stalker if you play like a scrapper you will die.
[/ QUOTE ]
Do you actually try to be abraisive, or is it just a talent?
The guy is making a perfectly good point about the illogic of removing a 'regen' power from a set called Regeneration and leaving in something like MoG which is conceptually not a regeneration power. This does not mean that he does not wish to learn to be a good Stalker.
Lighten up for heaven's sake. -
I never had a problem with Integration's endurance drain either, but you don't get Quick Recovery on Stalkers, so you might want to think about slotting for it later when you have plenty of free slots.
-
QR was 'replaced' by Hide. Something had to go and they removed the feature of Regen that they dislike most, the massively reduced downtime. Personally, I think dumping Resiliance would have been more in concept, but 'in concept' isn't in the Cryptic dictionary... just look at MoG.
-
Fair enough. Written communication media don't always carry the intent of the writer to the reader. I got the impression you were saying your build was gimped because you had inefficient slotting. If that's not the reason for the 'gimpness' then sorry to have misinterpreted.
And the rest of my post was mostly practical suggestions for slotting the individual powers where you gave overall advice on slotting under ED. I missed you last paragraph which I did basically repeat. Just out of interest, you seem to have read my first and last paragraphs and ignored the middle if you think I just repeated what you said... did you? -
WAI. Ambush types have always had a habit of ignoring Concealment type powers. It was irritating in CoH, and it's till irritating.
That said, some of the mobs in CoV come running up to were you did something telling you you're going to be cut into small bits... and then stand around looking for you, unable to see you. That's an improvement. -
[ QUOTE ]
more frustrated at being gimped each time
[/ QUOTE ]
Um, sorry, but that shows just as much confusion over ED as thinking six-slotting with the same enhancement is a good idea.
You are not gimped by having six slots in Integration all filled with Heal. It isn't making the best use of resources, the slots could be better employed elsewhere, etc, but you are not gimped.
In fact, you may indeed wish to 6-slot Integration, and go with 3 Heal/3 End Red, because you are going to want to run Integration all the time and the lower its endurance cost, the better.
Reconstruction is good with about 2 Recharge Reduction and up to 3 Heals. A third Rec Red gains you a couple of extra seconds between cycles and isn't really much worth it (IIRC). Dull pain can benefit from 3 Rec Reds, having a longer recharge.
Don't bother slotting Fast Healing more than 3, and a lot of people suggest not bothering to slot it at all, though I disagree. These days, you need all the help you can get.
The rule of thumb is not to go over 3 SOs of any type, but having more in a power doesn't reduce the effectiveness of the power, so it's hardly gimped. -
(( Would love to be there, but I have guests and RL takes precedence. Please report back on how it goes and whethere you plan to continue. I hope to get to a meeting at least once or twice. ))
-
Quilla, I do see that as an insult, but I've decided the forum moderators can decide if it's bad enough to be considered worth sanction. As Wordy says, it's one thing to disagree with someone, another to basically call them stupid because they don't see it your way.
As for this gathering, I believe it's on Friday night. Were it not for the fact that I have guests this weekend, I'd be happy to turn up and see how things work out. I do have a Villain PC who would make a good flunky, though he's a little low level for messing about in Cap Au Diablo. If you keep going with this, perhaps I could pop over and join you one evening. -
[ QUOTE ]
I would have thought the Arenas would have given you something like that
[/ QUOTE ]
Other things wrong with the arenas:
Emotes don't work!Why don't emotes work?
You can't pick the map. (I know Wordy also mentioned it, but it's such a big one it's worth mentioning twice.)
Did I mention you can't pick the map? (Okay, three times.)
[ QUOTE ]
is how popular is the RP element
[/ QUOTE ]
It isn't. Compared to the PvP and 'gamer' communities, the RP community is very small. If it was bigger, we'd probably have a dedicated RP server.
That said, I'm unimpressed by the RP servers in WoW, so I'm not sure I'd want one. If I find the idea of randomly being attacked by another hero in Warburg a bit dumb (it happened early on, but since more villains have entered the zone, the HvH stuff seems to have become less common), I somehow find it vaguely offensive that I should be challenged to random duels without even a word of introduction on an "RP Server."
So, if the population of real, RP-biased servers has a high proportion of (basically) non-roleplayers, I figure the actual population of roleplayers in MMOs is probably statistically close to zero. -
[ QUOTE ]
and certainly not on the folks of GG, who should remember that they are not the only RPers around.
[/ QUOTE ]
Right, well that's the last time I suggest you as someone it would be good to interview as another persepective on the Union RP scene.(Please read the other posts in the thread before replying, then you'll see all the GGers mentioning all the other groups we know who roleplay and won't come off looking so insular yourself.)
I'd have to say, my own view on RP in CoH wouldn't exactly be stunning. We roleplay despite the game, not because of it. I remain fundamentally amazed that this magazine thinks CoH has a good RP level and it makes me wonder just how bad it is in other games.
FFM, you don't know Brighteyes, but he used to come to GG regularly. There were creative differences. He knows it's not for him. As I keep saying, that's fine, GG isn't for everyone, not even me at times. -
Works remarkably well for the NPCs. I discovered Night Widow's have it last night when one of the nasty little mothers threw one down and I lost targeting on her. Almost as bad as Tarantual Mistresses and their disappearing trick.
-
Cool. I remember the joy of setting off Hellball in a closed room in Neverwinter Nights. Pretty, and usually about as effective.
-
(I think most of this will be answering Eagle too, FYI. It's kind of general.)
Not going to have the discussion about why being forced into a PvP Zone is different from being forced to go to, say, the Hollows. Had it already, thanks. Suffice to say that Cryptic agree with the view that it shouldn't happen, and there was a simple solution, which they implemented.
By the way, Aisla's PC regularly takes longer than the 30 second PvP timer to actually load the Warburg map (a one year-old machine badly in need of a memory and graphics card update). So she'd be there for a good bit longer than 30 seconds on those missions.
Rock, well done, man. I haven't levelled Crow since I4 simply because I was stuck and I find street hunts very boring. Levelling him was just too tedious, so I concentrated on some alts. Did mean some friends are catching up, so I won't have to face 40-50 and all the AVs on my own.
I try not to portray the Zones as the havens of gankers, personally. They are out there. There's a thread just started asking why all the heroes run away once the villains get organised. The implication (actually it basically says as much) is that the heroes are in it for easy kills and run when it gets tough. The thread is basically portraying all the "non-regular PvPer" heroes as gankers, if you think about it. -
I have no idea... they keep running away when they see me.
Is it my deoderant or something?
-
Yeah, love to. I even have experience of not being misquoted by interviewers.
I have to say I'm amazed they found more RP in CoX than other MMOs. In a couple of days playing WoW I found more, though the two games could constitute the best of the bunch, a slightly worrying thought, and yet really cool as well.
Kind of a shame some of the 'older' roleplayers have left. Though Brighteyes is back and Aeronaut is still around. They'd give a different perspective than the GG crowd. -

I still don't get the i'm being forced into pvp zones because i cant get missions elsewhere thing.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll explain in smaller words then.
Up until the most recent patch, there were three missions, one per zone, which forced you to enter the PvP zones. At some point (as with The Hollows and Striga) all your contacts would be giving you that mission. You had the option of taking it, or not getting missions from your contacts until you outlevel them.
Is that clear enough?
This has nothing to do with my problem of running out of content, and has now been fixed so that you don't have to enter the zone, just meet an introductory contact outside it.
[ QUOTE ]
And if you solo while unable to get missions due to having finished contacts/outleveled etc, then it simply your choice to continue soloing, you do have options whether you say you do or don't.
[/ QUOTE ]
I had one instanced mission which requires 4 team members, and I had whatever TF (Numina?) that's available at that level. Well, I just did Numina and that wouldn't have got me to level 40, so I might have been up at 39... with nothing to do but street hunts.
I could team up and take higher level missions with others, I guess, but I can still get better xp, more safely, and have more fun running missions at my level in Warburg.
Are you actually objecting to the fact that I run missions in Warburg? That I don't actively go looking for PvP in a PvP Zone? Are you complaining that I run missions in a PvP Zone and don't like PvP much? What's your objection to me being in Warburg? -
