DA is a good set but it is endurance heavy.
[/ QUOTE ]
DA is better than Regen for sheer volume survival. It does lack KB resistance, but then it has Psi resistance.
And yes, it has a horrible endurance drain problem. -
[ QUOTE ]
Sorry I meant - Using AoE attacks to interrupt a stalker ASing you into your next life is a bad idea imo.
[/ QUOTE ]
Out of interest, if you can't target him and he's already started the AS, what would you do? Baring in mind that you are a kat/regen Scrapper at the time. -
According to No-Future, Ripper does less damage than GD, by quite a bit. I'm happy trusting No-Future, I think it's been updated in the last century.
-
[ QUOTE ]
Exactly only time this happens is when you are under placate effect.. in which case you should be jumping to safety cause AS is on its way.
[/ QUOTE ]
Which is fine if he hasn't already started the attack. If he has, then no amount of running jumping, flying, teleporting, or dropping through a hole into Hell is going to stop it landing. You have to make them move, or hit them, and I don't have those other powers you mentioned.
To Stryker: [ QUOTE ]
Using AoE attacks to reveal stalkers is bad imo.
[/ QUOTE ]
Probably, but then, I don't happen to plan to use my AoE for that purpose. (For the third time.) -
[ QUOTE ]
get perception buffed so that you can see most stalkers
[/ QUOTE ]
That's what FA is for. Yes, it's only useful in RV, but I'm really not planning to do much outside RV. If I need to work outside RV, then that's one more reason to be in a team with someone who has a +perception power, right?
The constant moving thing. Yeah, in an ideal world that would be great, but I'm trying to be a tiny bit practical.
[ QUOTE ]
but what if there are two stalkers?
[/ QUOTE ]
They both need to be in range of Lotus Drops to do an AS. I've noticed a couple of times when I've been able to see a close in Stalker, but not target them. Hence the AoE.
I'd imagine Andy's advice is based on having Tactics on top of FA, but I shall repeat: I am not building a Stalker killer, I am building something with Stalker defense who can also chop down huge numbers of low end mobs for badge collecting.
[ QUOTE ]
Andy's advice seems to be geared toward team pvp.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd point out that that is what is being recommended a lot.
However, Tactics on a Scrapper in a team... seems a tiny bit pointless, though I suppose the buffs would add. -
[ QUOTE ]
but most of the time your survival is down to just reconstruction and DP.
[/ QUOTE ]
Reconstruction is on button 0, DP is on 9.
You're right that monitoring my health bar will be tough. I have the HUD set up to let me do it, but I get easily distracted by all the flashing lights and pretty colours.
[ QUOTE ]
Also don't go overestimating your mez protection.
[/ QUOTE ]
Haven't done that since I got slept by an invisible illusion controller in Warburg, back when Warburg was new.
[ QUOTE ]
Debuffers will be your worst enemy.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, Syn and Cel already demonstrated that. -
Someone doesn't listen to why I like explanations...
[ QUOTE ]
-take resilience earlier
[/ QUOTE ]
Why? Disorient Resistance? It can't be for the actual damage resistance since you're having me drop Tough.
[ QUOTE ]
-if you want to build a stalker killer, take tactics too.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm aiming for Stalker resistance rather than a Stalker killer. Theoretically with Hasten, I can get two shots at Lotus Drops within the wind-up for AS. That's two chances at interrupting it. It's 3 slotted for ACC, with FA on top. Even with the stupid AoE defense Stalkers have, that should give a reasonable probability of a hit. -
You might be better off with this in the Union forums.
-
I didn't say you had to look at it then and there!
Lotus Drops is there for Stalkers and badge hunting.
Tough is there because I don't spend all my time PvPing, same with Resilience.
PS. Got to admit, I don't like this build. Just doesn't feel right. -
Since someone asked, I put this build together last night on Test, but then couldn't make it in for the Arena matches. (RL can be a pain.)

Bare in mind that it's a level 50 respec, so the levels the slots are allocated at are irrelevent. -
Question: Build Up, worth taking for a PvP Scrapper? I never normally do.
-
[ QUOTE ]
Be warned how ever you WILL die or feel very impotant the first few matches you fight in.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just so no one else bothers to mention this: I have no problem with being squished in PvP. No debt, and I know full well I'm not very good at it, so I only feel like I've 'failed' if I die really quickly.
It needs saying, because some people see it as a terrible thing, but I don't get that attitude. Maybe not being a PvPer, I make more of a concious choice to enter the zones and offer myself up as a sacrifice. *shrug* -
[ QUOTE ]
I like the way that you've gone "Give me advice!" and then argued with every single person who's replied so far, but hey.
SS+SJ is pretty much the single best travel power combo for PvP. On characters which don't need Acrobatics, though, it's sometimes better to go with 3 slots in Hurdle and 3 in Combat Jumping for unsupressed movement.
[/ QUOTE ]
Because I want to understand the points made. You're explaining them. I hate doing things by rote without knowing why. Sometimes things are done because they always have been and explaining them shows up flaws in the concept.
[ QUOTE ]
Even if you can't check builds on villains any more
[/ QUOTE ]
That did change. I was wondering why I suddenly couldn't see powersets on enemy targets. -
Yes, but this is a beginner's guide. Beginners will intially be running away, not chasing.
Well, I will. -
Coulda sword in had -Jump.
Can you name anything with -Teleport? (Genuine question.) -
[ QUOTE ]
*Super jump is hard to surpress its very needed.
*Slows are less efficant on super jump so consider going with super jump.
[/ QUOTE ]
Air Superiority will trash Superjump.
Almost nothing I can think of works on Teleport. -
[ QUOTE ]
* 2 accuracies in a power is a good start.
[/ QUOTE ]
How about 1 + FA?
[ QUOTE ]
*Movement is they key to survival
[/ QUOTE ]
With regard to the "why do I die" bit, I think the fact that movement is key would be the answer there... and I guess the solution is to carry a lot of Break Frees?
(Last time, I got slowed until I couldn't do anything, and then killed.) -
(( Just for the hell of it, you understand. ))
War Crow has been sighted in Paragon City again after an absense of several months. Those who read the business pages will have noticed that he was made Chief Operating Officer of the company he used to work for, Paragon Secure Couriers. Since then, he and his wife have rarely been in the city. It's currently unknown whether Stargazer will be returning. Those who read the hero press may have seen that Crow was among those who were placed on the reserve list for the Freedom Phalanx in the last month. Exactly why Crow has returned to Paragon is unknown, but most suspect business reasons.
Anastasia Kade has spent a lot of the last six months in a villa in the south of France, near Aix. She recently returned to Paragon and is once again living in her flat in Founders' Falls. Velvet Vengence has also been seen on the streets of Skyway and Steel Canyon, though dressed differently than before she left. A few women who have been rescued by her commented on a determined look in her eye. The men rescued by her looked slightly dazed. One man was quoted as saying, "It was worth being mugged." -
Is there a Beginner's Guide to PvP in CoX anywhere?
I'm probably never going to be that good, but having some clue might be nice.
Or is it that no one trusts the others to produce one? -
If someone could power-level an MM or Corrupter to 50 (from zero) by Thursday, I'll field a villain. Otherwise, you're stuck with me bringing War Crow.
-
I'd tend to agree. You need something that can debuff the AV into a slivver of its former self.
My kat/regen has so far been wasted by Lord Recluse (twice, he hates me personally), and Mako and GhostWidow (together, I thought ganging up was a bit much). Oh, and he gets wasted while standing in a pillbox, and being defended by a Heavy.
The AVs in that Zone are a pain. I mean, people complain about the Heavies, but they ain't nothing compared to having Lord Recluse come along and help. -
Spines also has a number of ranged attacks. Shouldn't forget that, very useful in a Scrapper.
Theoretically a kat/regen Scrapper has one of the highest survival probabilities in the game. (Broadsword is about the same, but BS's forte is DPS and lots of Parrying cuts your DPS.)
Point to note: While Scrappers are generally boss-killer types, /regen Scrappers suffer from one big weakness, Alpha Strikes. They soak up damage great, until you do a lot rapidly and then they keel over like they're made of tissue paper. Lots of DEF and RES insps are a good idea. -
[ QUOTE ]
It'll need to be a well buffed mech - a normal mech can't survive being in the center of a box and being attacked by all 4 tturrets.
[/ QUOTE ]
Or two rocket batteries and a howitzer, while the other gun tries to spot flying Stalkers.
That makes sense, if I'm hitting a pillbox, I go in as well since it gives the guns two targets to try to remove.
Of course, people trying to get their Heavy to do all the work are presumably more likely to have means of buffing their bot. -
I find myself agreeing with Sheep a lot on this thread (I must be coming down with something nasty
).
Get Divine Avalanch as early as you can and slot it as early as you can. By level 50, you'll be able to give yourself 23% defense to any melee or lethal attack with every hit, and you can stack that. (With Hasten, I even get periods where I have three stacked DA +DEF bonuses.) The damage sucks, but if you're aiming for a scranker build you'll presumably have other heavy damage dealers available.
You can actually get up to two attacks between DA hits and still keep it doubled up. I have mine set up so that I can do GD -> DA -> SD -> SotW -> DA, and that keeps the bonus stacked. -
Yeah. I wandered into RV a few days ago and found it empty aside from me, so I grabbed a Heavy and, I guess, started 'farming.'
I ambled through three turrets before being 'saved' from getting turned into glue by Recluse or someone (again) by the arrival of a villain.
This is fine by me since I go into RV knowing that it's a PvP zone and I may end up in a fight with another PC. I can't help but think that some of the 'farming' is just people arriving and finding no one else in the zone. When that happens, what's there to do but treat it as a PvE zone.
