Say.. is "Having suffered exposure to far too many Mary Sues" emo enough to qualify for an Angst-Sue title?
[/ QUOTE ]
Too self-referential? Or does that make it even more appropriate?
BTW, my main in LotRO is a pseudo-self-insert. I needed a Nordic name and happened to know the Icelandic spelling of mine. So Njall of Dale is a lore-master currently sitting in the Prancing Pony Inn at Bree. (Yes, Dale is actually one of the four official origin points for Men (humans) in the game. Gotta love it.) -

The cemetary?

Only if you finally killed Miss Ellie... -
This came up over on the LotRO forums and I didn't understand the reference. After 16 months of GG, I found this so funny I almost did the blowing coffee out my nose thing.
Anyway, enjoy.

You all heard it from Bridger, I'm wise.
Okay, I'll get my coat. -
I'm going to bite back the reply to that since I'm not going to be the cause of this thread getting locked. Back on topic maybe?

I'm English, I don't have to be nice to anyone.

Fixed that for you...

Touché!

Not really, we consider the Irish as ex-colonists as well. Well... servants really. -
I'm English, I don't have to be nice to anyone from the colonies.

What you talkin bout ravey? I never said that? Cybercel did

But I am right in thinking you started the thread, am I not? You were the one wanted an answer to a question?

Your eye sight failing you in your advance years too?

Yes, actually, but it's clearly considerably more accute than your brain still. -

Worse actually.

People were being Perma Caged because of a specific threat that they posed against the opposing team in the Arena. Taking them completely out the game/match, and as you can imagine, spending 10 minutes permanently caged isn't that fun.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah! That makes more sense. 'Exclusion' perhaps has a different meaning for you and I.
Makes sense, the supression effects don't last that long, with the extended duration, you could probably grab them again before they got out. -
Eh? The bug was that those powers lasted too long in PvP. Why were people excluded from something because of it?

[ QUOTE ]
I think the Duel Build or even more than just Duel would be brilliant, that way everyone that was adamant on PvEing as best as their build allows could still join in with PvP with a 2nd build devoted to PvP.
[/ QUOTE ]
A dual build system would have persuaded me to at least give PvP more of a try, but it isn't going to get many people to do it. It's really making life easier for PvPers and doing nothing much for PvEers.
I can't see any reason to have more than two builds, it would just be exploitable. The dual build system only works really if the switch between builds happens on entering or leaving a PvP environment.
Edited due to brain failure. -

your problem is Corruptors, not Dominators
[/ QUOTE ]
Okay, UN, I have problems with Corrupters, not Dominators.
Look, I have one Corrupter and no Doms at the moment, like I know the powersets. Slowing just sounded more of a Domy power.
And it was that incident I was thinking of, yes. It reminded me how much I hate being mezzed (or similar) to death.
My first ever PvP experience in CoH was when I got zapped by a Controller in Warburg (had to be a controller, there were no villains at that level then. He got through Integration with three hits (there abouts) and I was asleep. He couldn't actually beat my base level healing rate and I had a break free anyway, but it was just one of those irritation moments when you think "that's a lousy way to go down." (And he was Illusion so I couldn't see him. I just took off at super speed and lost him.) -
Yes, undoubtedly. I said they bothered me. Being slowed to oblivion so I can't attack or move and then burned to death bothers me. Once in that state, I'm not sure I have any capability to defnd against it, since it's already happened.
This is why Stalkers don't really bother me. Even if they manage to kill me, which is less likely these days, I find a sudden death less bothering than being mezzed to death. You know that thing about Dominators and Controllers being sadists? I'm not that much of a masochist. -
[ QUOTE ]
and i want that for all pvp
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, I'd like that too. Then I could get a friend and we could pummel each other into the ground until we were fully stocked out with +3 SOs. That would be cool.
Of course, it would also mean an end to any casual PvP since if you didn't have a full PvP build, you'd get farmed as soon as you entered one of them. -
Dark Melee is also fairly victim friendly.
Yeah, so it drags fragments of their soul to hell with every hit, but at least their hide remains intact. -
I wasn't saying the rewards are good, I said they were the best rewards available. It's not really my argument, it's one I've seen on PvP threads, made by PvPers, many times.
It's also beside the point. The point is that adding extra rewards in other zones won't increase the PvP population significantly. It's more likely to smooth it out over more zones. -
[ QUOTE ]
really need a reason to go there as we all know sirens is busy because of the bounty giving SO's, bases, places of itnereest to fight etc
[/ QUOTE ]
Was that sarcasm? (Genuine question since the rest of this is pretty pointless if it was.)
Siren's is the most popular PvP Zone because it has the 'best rewards' for PvPers. Adding additional rewards to other zones will likely result in activity moving to RV and away from SC since you'll then be able to fight at level 50 and get rewards.
Adding additional rewards is highly unlikely to get more people to PvP. -
Stalkers bothered me, until I worked out how to get rid of them.
Dominators bother me and I've not seen a way to defend against what bothers me about them aside from teaming.
Teamed with the right toons, I doubt anything would bother me, but I have no reason to be in a PvP Zone in a team. -
[ QUOTE ]
However I could see some people who solo in PvP being bad in teams, just due to lack of knowledge, or a selfish playstyle.
[/ QUOTE ]
I guess it's probably now possible to solo as far as 50, but to really get the most out of the PvE game, you really have to have at least 5 levels of teaming experience. If you can't learn at least the basics of reasonable team play in that time then you were never going to be any good at teaming.
Players with 50s any older than mine either did it before ED, or learned to team because they didn't have the AV->EB downgrade to fall back on.
Edit: Yeah, selfish playstyle. I guess that falls into the 'never going to be any good' chategory. -
[ QUOTE ]
Alot of people probably have toons that could become good in PVP if they adapted their build a certain way.
[/ QUOTE ]
And that's why I aborted my attempted entry into PvP. The build I was forced to have gave me no leeway to be even slightly creative.
It's why I agree that we need a dual-build system, switchable between PvP and PvE. -
I did ask that this not become a debate or discussion.
I see that that is not going to happen.
[ QUOTE ]
Continued use of the term 'people' rather than 'characters' just makes it sound a little like an issue way beyond roleplay considerations.
[/ QUOTE ]
Since you quoted my OP, you will have noted that I have OOC objections. They are, however, entirely based on the roleplay consequences of people trying to run a plot which totally alters the political climate (and even changes the architecture) of a city which they have no control over, and then asking anyone not interested to simply ignore it, and then banning anyone from commenting on it, even OOC.
If I ignore this, I leave myself in a situation where my characters believe the city government and people think one way, while other characters believe it works differently. That's nothing to do with whether an individual character is involved in the plot, it affects every character whether they are actively involved or not, and without the permission or acceptance of the player.
You had the chance to let this quietly blow over, but you had to restart it in a way which means that your 'changes' cannot help but go through since no one could really object IC. You have changed the nature of IC reality for every charactr in Paragon City without any support for it in-game, and without asking first. That's no way to behave in an Open RP environment.
I'm sorry, but that's the way I see it. This is not personal, I simply feel that your plot is going to split what little general RP community we have left in two. I don't know or care whether that was your intention, but it is the logical outcome.
Since this thread has now served what little purpose it had and can only ever be a focus for flaming, and since it appears I'll be totally avoiding the RP forum for a while...
Bridger, if you read this, please lock the thread. -

Yet strangely there is still skill involved in PvP or you would be good at it
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't deny that, point of fact, I said that. Now tell me there's any skill required to hit anything in PvP... Oh, and I've never been in a PvP ZOne with a build a PvPer would even consider taking in against a PvP build. I know, they've all told me how sucky my build is.
Player skill is possible to get into a game like this. I worked something out last night when I was thinking about something else. But in reality, it would be unrealistic if skill did play much of a part. How could you possibly be as skilled as your character? S/He is supposed to be superhuman! -
[ QUOTE ]
Well, fear not; there is!
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm also not interested in getting opinions on why I'm wrong. I want to know how many people are actually planning to not be involved, not why, or what else is happening.
