I got a char who is half angel and half demon... hows that for controversy!?!

    [/ QUOTE ]

About as controvercial as my slippers. I thought just about everyone had a half-angel/half-demon... at one point until they learned better.

Edit: Actually, if you're talking the judao-christian concept of angels and demons, they are the same thing so your charcater is just all angel. It's just that one of the parents fell.

    2. Scrappers can crit on a regular basis (not having to wait until hidden or the target is held/mezzed)
5.If played in a team enviroment (especially on a LGTF or ITF where there is a higher chance of getting a troller or a dom in the team) the stalker might have a higher DPS due to the amount of crits he/she can pull off *IF* the enemy is mezzed.

[/ QUOTE ]Where have you been? Stalkers don't crit against held/slept targets outside of Hide in PvE anymore, they crit on a regular basis of 10% outside of Hide when soloing (more than Scrappers already), and up to 31% when in a full 8-man team.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Scrappers get a 10% crit probability on LTs and above, 5% on minions and below. 31% crit probability seems a bit OP for Stalkers, but then most of them fall over in a strong breeze, so I guess it's swings and roundabouts.

Seriously, looking at what they've done to Assassination, I'd say they finally realised how broken Stalkers were in PvE and started listening to the Stalkers instead of the people being ganked in Bloody Bay. Might take my Stalkers out for a spin and see how they go now.

Maybe the more you don't play the game the more character slots they give you to not play the game with?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The game has that already.. but those who are not playing the game don't notice it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I did. I came back and discovered that I had 4 character slots to claim if I wanted. I already filled one of them, which means something else gets pushed down the list of characters I don't play.

Edit: PS, who's that in your avatar?

And, while there are demons in the game, there are no angels except those made by the players. The demons are summoned by magic wielding bad guys and are obviously of nefarious purpose. There's no major controversy there. Most religions have 'demons' in them in some shape or form.

Angels do exist in almost all religions, but only because 'angel' is a Hebrew word for 'messenger' and plenty of religions have "messenger's from G/god" in them. However, the form they take varies far more wildly than demons (which can often change shape anyway).

I have a feeling that the actual 'theology' for the CoX universe is that 'gods' are just really-very-powerful-beyond-comprehension beings and that no religion is right. It doesn't actually make a difference and it avoids having the controversy that actually would arise in the US over settling on one religion.

Of course, you can argue that religion is actually under-represented in the game. Afterall, I'd imagine Rhode Island is about as religious as the rest of the East Coast and there should be a few churches about the place at the very least.
  5. I'd have thought you'd be used to it by now. It's been doing stuff like this for, what, 4 years now? 3 at least.

Oh, and I'm having no trouble for once so I have to assume that the software is, in fact, victimising you on purpose.
  6. As I recall, the teleport pad (not the raid one) can only be made from salvage. There is no pre-formed version.
  7. My main is a 50 Katana/Regen.
    Then I got:

    DM/regen
    Kat/SR
    MA/SR
    BS/Regen
and I just created a DB/WP on coming back.

Yeah, I kind of like Scrappers.

we would need a new set of enhancements and stores/Quatermasters but I'm gueesing they could just turn an old building new/place another arbiter with something in his hand like a book

    [/ QUOTE ]

And over on the hero side, you need an entire new set of level 1-5 missions, and a new 'organisation' which comes out of nowehere. And a new set of stores (or churches, ever noticed there are no places of worship in Paragon City?). You would also need to add loads of new villain groups since DO/SO drops are typed on the origin types of the villains.

It would be huge amounts of work, for no real benefit aside from allowing people who don't think 'magic' covers relgious characters because "religion isn't magic."

My main, War Crow, started out as a priest of the Morrigan, so would actually fit this proposed origin. He's magic origin, however, and not because there was no Religion origin available.

Actually, I think Religion was probably an Origin at one time, like Incarnate, and like Mutant did not exist until the atomic bomb tests. Origins come and go, and Religion is one that no longer applies in this modern setting. But it might have once.
  9. The momentum thing makes no physical sense. In order to fly forward, you msut apply force to counter air resistance. Air resistance does not grow less the more you resist it and you will always have a finite amount of force to apply.

Yes, adding gravity into the equation would be interesting and would speed things up going down, but to balance that, it should slow you down going up. Which would stop that up-and-down stunt you were talking about. Considering people are always saying that flight should be faster, I don't think they'd accept a concept that had them moving slower when climbing, even if it did mean they got faster when diving. I quite like the concept myself, though.

I am talking about our current colours and models just in different design combinations.
Re: vetting by NCNC, well to be honest I had not thought that far ahead as it was just a feature suggestion I dreamt up last night.

In theory I like the idea as there are clearly some great costume designers out there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I misunderstood. You are proposing to be able to put extra things in the 'sets' drop down. Well, yes, I guess that's fine. I remove my objection.

I guess it's an okay feature though, personally, the appeal of the costume designer is to spend ages flicking through options and finding one I like for that specific character. The 'set' feature has remained unused after I tried it once and isn't going to suddenly start getting used.
  11. When you start, you have a 25% (20% for most weapon sets and a few other things) miss probability against an even level target. That's actually quite high. In WoW (for example) your miss chance is around 5%.

This doesn't actually change throught your career, but what does change is the benefit you get from enhancements. Once you get to the point of slotting SO level enhancements (which used to happen about level 30, IIRC), the benefit from SOs and IOs gets to the point where your miss chance is capped for normal targets. By the time you hit 50, you should have your miss chance pasted against the 5% bar for everything except maybe EBs and above.

Personally, I tend to slot for as high an acc boost as I can get (well, not really, but I do slot a lot of acc). Extra damage does you little good if you miss, being my philosophy.
  12. Are you talking colour maps or complete models?

Either way, you realise that you're putting a massive load on the GM staff who will have to vet every last design for content?

Old school SO slotting is/was: 2x ACC, 3x DMG, 1xEND RED for the expensive attacks assuming you have Hasten or your attacks have a fair recharge time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

*cough* Old School slotting was 6x DMG.

    And then there was ED.

People just used to claim the dark sets were horribly endurance heavy.
  14. Obviously, I don't know about the OP's character, but I used to run HeroStats a lot and it used to tell me that I was hitting exactly as expected for the slotting I had on every toon I had.

People notice misses more than hits, and they notice strings of misses far more than they notice 50 consecutive hits with no misses.

For reference, I have Focussed Accuracy running most of the time, my attacks are mostly slotted with one +acc (SO or IO), and it's a katana, so there's an inherent +5% acc built in. I think I cap accuracy on everything except possibly a +3 boss and I still seem to miss a lot. I'm not, I'm missing 1 in 20, but it always seems like more.
  15. Trawling the Internet is good. That what I do when making up the plots. I still have links for biotech equipment and encephalitis from the last plot. Just a hint of realism always helps.
  16. @Rock: Sounds fine.

@Zortel: If I'll have you? You have some doubt?

@Shadower: I'll check on specifics later when I actually know what the plot is.
  17. @Wild_Red: If you can find your Sherlock, it'll work. Frankly, I try to find something for everyone to do in any given plot. Maybe not all the time, but at least some of the time.

I expect people to be able to draft in their "all guns blazing" friends for the finale.

@Rock_Powerfist: Having not written the plot yet, I can't say whether the military links would cause problems. So long as he doesn't invite the army in to seal off the area when something happens, it should be fine. Particularly since I've been warned and can plot around it. The GM charcater (so to speak) for this is linked into the PPD with a stupid level of security clearance, so I doubt military intelligence will pose a greater threat.

Problems mostly arise from uber-mindreaders, time travellers, and people with more resources than God.
  18. There have been massive complaints about those WoW figurines being poorly finished, unfortunately.

Shame, I could massively go for some of my characters as a figurine. I already have the 'artistic rendering' for some of them.

Copyright wise, if NCSoft licensed the operation for a company to produce figurines like that, I could see it happening. The production numbers are quite small (like, very small), so they could probably be vetted without too much effort to ensure no copyright violations. And, obviously, NCSoft could send the appropriate model data out.

It's making that kind of facility publicly available that I don't think is possible under the rules of the settlement with Marvel.
  19. @Extremus: Yes, I know about IOs. I played with a planner, tried the various sets. I lose out somewhere on recharge or heal in all of them.

@Archy: Yes, EndRed would be nice, but not at the expense of recharge or heal which are the two primary factors when you have recovery coming out of every pore. I don't have to stop and rest between groups unless they are pretty big groups or have a boss in, I think that's fast enough.

All I'm really saying is that adding in some extra set enhancements which do just heal or just recharge (or both) would make them more applicable and give people a broader choice when adding enhancements from a set to a power. Unfortunately, this would also negate one of the purposes of enhancement sets. Adding +acc enhancements would not negate that purpose, so would be more likely to happen.

    We probably need more sets.
  20. I run Integration all the time, so cutting endurance on that would be nice, I guess.

The clickies I don't use enough to worry over, I guess.

However, I wouldn't want to drop any recharge or heal on any of those to gain EndRed.
  21. You didn't take over the last plot.

    Hiya, Gid.

Levels: Any. The main requirement is not to roleplay being the be-all and end-all of all heroes. From a practical standpoint, I'd say having some form of travel power and being level 10 or more would be a good idea. The hero I'll be using to 'run' the plot through just hit level 20.

And, obviously, someone with an invesrigative bent is likely to be more successful in uncovering the plot than a "hit it 'til it stops twitching" hero.

    [ QUOTE ]
    What makes you say that?

The majority of +Regen powers are either clicks or toggles, both of which benefit from End Red and Recharge as well as Heal enhancement.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah this.To be honest heal sets only issue i see is with targeted heals.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The Toggles on a Regen Scrapper don't really benefit from RecRed. They aren't that long and they don't get knocked off much anyway.

The Click powers don't really benefit from EndRed. They don't cost that much in the first place.

Plus, several significant health (and endurance) powers are autos.

I do totally see the point of adding +acc to a healing set, but you are there catering to a fairly restricted set of powers. Most heals don't have a To Hit roll.

    Is RockJaw really so evil?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yes.
  24. I've also found most of the sets don't seem to be set-up for 'passive' powers. Heal sets seem to assume that they are going on an Empath's heal powers, not a Scrapper's Regen powers.
