It's a frame rate issue, according to Cryptic. Don't know what NCNC have to say about it.

Civilians spontaneously combusting could be fun too
[/ QUOTE ]
Zombies bursting into flames and then shuffling about asking to be put out would be good.
I also have a long running joke where zombies wander around moaning "brains", and then when a hero comes near the wander off, sounding disappointed, and switch to "no brains." -

But there comes a time in any Hero's career where you simply have to just punch someone or something, no matter what your other powers are
[/ QUOTE ]
So you're saying heroes are sadists then? Interesting...
[/ QUOTE ]
Sado-masochists. They willfully run into situations where people beat them with sticks while they ladle out punishment.
I mean, have you ever had any doubt? -
[ QUOTE ]
I always thought you had to do both.
1st badge: 10 hellions
2nd 50 hellions + 50 fires
3rd: 100 hellions + 100 fires
[/ QUOTE ]
I checked:
10 or 10,
25 and 25,
100 and 100.
I still say the fires aren't worth the bother. -
[ QUOTE ]
actually there are badges to be earned with the steel canyon fire. However it is hard to do and requires a few people to help you out.
[/ QUOTE ]
a. That's what he said in the OP.
b. It doesn't take more than 5 minutes to get the first badge and the others are just a matter of time. The trick is to have a Scrapper and mangle the Hellions. It's a waste of time doing the fires. -
The event will result in a news report, maybe the odd blog entry. It'll be public and noisy, and I'll make sure you notice it, ya deaf so-and-sos.

Everything has its achilles. I hate Malta Sappers and the top bosses in the Carnival. Sappers I can at least usually kill before they drain me. The Carnies are a total pain in the bottom.
If Katie knocks toggles off, I can't see any of the sets being particularly good at defeating her, unless she has such a sucky damage rate that Regens can soak it without Integration running. -

there's fires in Steel canyon set by hellions which can earn you a badge but as far as I know, htere is no other point to it.

BADGES ARE NOT POINTLESS
That is all
[/ QUOTE ]
Not all badges are pointless, though non, as yet, provide you with a pointy stick to poke things with, which is probably an oversight on the part of the developers. -

[ QUOTE ]
You can get a badge for them, but aside from that I don't think they are anything other than a cute mob.
[/ QUOTE ]
Whuh? Which badge?
[/ QUOTE ]
Okay, I give in, I can't figure out which it was, if there was one.
However, I distinctly remember charging around down there looking for the tell-tale bubbles and smacking them down... for quite a while. I assumed it was for a badge, but I might have been after something else. It was quite a while ago, so I'm not sure.
@Ramon: again, sadly, a rolling fogbank would require them to do weather. The Astoria fog is a zone-global effect (which they can do), as was demonstrated by the memorable patch where it was turned off. DA is actually quite pretty when you can see it.
The Supertrolls/Superadine Raids are also pretty pointless, just badge and XP sources. What you really want is more Zone events and they seem to have given them up as a bad idea. -
It's interesting. My regen scrapper is generally in danger of getting wasted early in the fight for two reasons. Alpha strikes are the bane of the regen scrapper's life, and I haven't hit anything with Divine Avalanch yet. Once DA is up and overlapping, I don't get hit more than 1 in 20, and of course I regen anything that makes it through. However, it's the +Def from two or three overlapped DA hits that really marks up the survivability of the build.
(Mind you, I do remember having a conversation with a /SR friend of mine where we worked out I could probably get more Melee/Lethal Defense off DA than he could from his toggles...) -
[ QUOTE ]
10. acid rain over an area causing minor DoT to anyone outdoors.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sadly, this would require them to implement weather so that ain't gonna happen.
Otherwise I agree, more apparently pointless happenings.
Oh, I think you missed one that currently exists. In Faultline there are tentacles in the lower parts of the zone. You can get a badge for them, but aside from that I don't think they are anything other than a cute mob. -
Empaths are, however, excellent for 'farming' (and I mean that in the loosest sense of the term). We used to make 'wind-up kill toys': Scrappers with a bunch of Empaths dumping buffs on them. Virtually unkillable, stupid amounts of damage, keep hacking like the Energizer Bunny. A rolling wave of death and destruction.
Personally, I'll take any Defender I can get.
(And it's just not the same now you can't give an Empth heart-failure by punching MoG.)
-
No one's mention Nickelback... Hero (from Spiderman), that always reminds me of this game. The lyrics even fit nicely: none of us just stand there and wait for a hero to save us after all.
-
Right. I've got a basic plot worked out. I just need to come up with a way of introducing it and we can get started. I'll try to sort some advanced warning out, but expect something odd to happen somewhere around GG on Friday or Sunday night.

I'm posting this while doing the mission in Mother Mayhem's asylum on A Hero's Hero.
I remember doing this a year or so ago. It was a boring office, like all the others.
Now it looks like something out of Gothika or a slasher flick. Awesome! So glad I came back. -
Adrenaline - Gavin Rossendale (used as the theme tune for the Vin Diesel vehicle XXX). Always reminds me of my main. He didn't start out as an adrenaline junkie, but the higher his leve got, the more he acted like one.
Oh, and I always get this image of leaping off cliffs under Superspeed when I hear it, for some reason. -
Point is, sniper powers have several seconds of wind-up before they fire. If you can get out of LoS in that time, the power fails and you don't get the sudden loss of health.

ah.. using our toons and origins we already bring in religion. I have a toon that is the Morrigan (Mor-rioghan) celtic goddess...
[/ QUOTE ]
I've played The Morrigan as an NPC for a few plots in game. My main thought he was a priest of the same goddess until he discovered he was actually slightly insane and recovered. I still own the name Morrigan over on Defiant (I think, haven't looked) though that character isn't a goddess, she's just unhinged. Oh, and Glory thinks she might have been a goddess, but isn't anymore.

Statesmen is Zeus avatar
[/ QUOTE ]
On the other hand, the background doesn't really back up the existance of 'gods' as such. Statesman is an Incarnate of Zeus, not an avatar. Zeus could be a god, or a vastly powerful being, or perhaps the first person to gain those powers way back in the First Age of Heroes.
Gods are mentioned, particularly with regards to the BP and CoT, but these creatures could simply be very powerful creatures. -
[ QUOTE ]
Paragon Protectors - mez them before they use their MoG and they fall over fast, wait too long and you want to find another target until it wears off or expect almost everything to miss
[/ QUOTE ]
I actually really enjoy a MoG'd PP. I imagine the look on his face as my hit rate barely drops and I carve the little clone up anyway. -
Personally, I prefer single target melee, reserving AoE for those things I tack on in the last few levels.
However, if someone says farmers use X build then what they are actually saying is: that build kills things effectively and in large numbers. So what's the problem?
About the only thing in game which puts me off playing something is someone who I think can play demonstrating that their build plays badly. What "people say" has no impact on me. -
So, I was watching NCIS and I got this idea for a temp power, maybe something to be obtained on a Crey or nemesis mission. Maybe you could buy them in some PvP Zones.
Basically, when you get targetted by a sniper, it tosses up a warning message. For PvE it would trigger when the mob locks on, for PvP it would trigger when a sniping power is activated.
Just a throw away thought. -
[ QUOTE ]
As i understood, 45% defense should give essentially a 95% miss chance for equal level mobs. However, from experience this is much, much closer to 25-50%. I get hit nearly constantly, let alone by anything at +1 level or high. Since most high level missions cinlude quite a lot of bosses and such, i'm usually unable to complete a mission without getting more debt than experience.
[/ QUOTE ]
45% should give you a 95% miss against even level minions.
What's your difficulty level set to?
Did you take any of the passive powers? -
For a single slot, it's actually a couple of points better to slot a damage. For two or more slots it's better to slot one acc.

[ QUOTE ]
However, that won't be just like the other origins, it will have special advantages and drawbacks.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ever since they introduced Nemesis Staff and Blackwand as permatemp vets rewards the origins haven't been quite equal.
True that incarnate looks like it may well be an origin surpassing the existing ones for impact/complexity (maybe like comparing EATs to other ATs?), but it's worth remembering that not all current origins are truly equal.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd have to say that any implementation of the Incarnate origin I can think of would be bound to create unbalanced characters. As in, it would create characters which massively outshine the existing origins.
Everything I've read in the I12 content would seem to suggest that the Incarnate origin is largely defunct and extremely rare in the current world. There are thwo people who did get their powers from Zeus' Fountain, one who may have, and a probably survivor of the First Age of Heroes.
It could well be leading up to opening up the Well of the Furies for players, but I personally hope not. We'll be flooded with them. -
[ QUOTE ]
okay guys, I get the point it sucks, but no need to push it out too far now, its only a suggestion, if your against a new origin then dont have a fit over it ¬_¬
[/ QUOTE ]
It doesn't, as such, suck. It's just that adding origins is hard work and there's no real benefit to it. I doubt we'll ever see the Incarnate origin in anything other than NPCs.
