  1. I did this recently. Well, my excuse is that they hadn't added those little coloured books to the contacts so I didn't realise how many story arcs I had open. I've been going through clearing them and up popped A Hero's Hero.

If you don't want to know what happens, stop reading now.

Okay, now that they've gone. A Hero's Hero stems from the days before the Statesman Task Force when Paragon City's staunchest defender, winner of the broom-up-butt award for 70 years in a row, Statesman, was locked away in a dungeon on the Praetorian homeworld by his evil twin Tyrant. You have to rescue him.

The whole time, your contact is telling you he has not been seen in ages and the city needs him. And all this time he's standing on a ship in Indy Port handing out his TF. It's the only arc I know of in the game with this kind of huge incongruity. It would be really nice if they could rewrite the arc a bit so it actually fits in with current history.

What would be really cool was if he was made a client-side object and he actually vanished off his ship at the start of the arc, with Maria (the contact) telling you he has vanished. That would require minimal arc rewriting, but may involve some technology updates. Otherwise, States needs to be written out of the arc.
  2. No idea. I didn't pay it much attention. As I recall, there were several different level groups and I doubt Defenders won all of them.
  3. It did, they have done it before.

    Edit: Twice at least!
  4. That's a really interesting article, demonstrating once again that no one should ever trust anything a journalist says.

As FFM said, there has been some rumour of an offline reward system in CoX, and most modern MMOs seem to feature a Rest XP system of some kind, but I don't see this being a useful one for CoX.

Almost all of CoX's 'end-game content' is replayability. If NCNC plan to add loads of end-game content and then speed up the run to 50, they are likely to lose a load of players who like things the way they are. They won't attract people from other games, because they are always going to be playing catch-up on the existing games which made their name of boring raids and PvP eSport.

To put this into perspective: I left CoX finally to play LotRO. Since I was working, and did not play all day, my main was in perma-restxp mode. If I tried hard, I could use all of it up by the end of a weekend where I just levelled constantly.

The majority of CoX players who actually work are going to be in the same boat, constantly catching up with their friends' levels at the end of a weekend, just to fall behind over the week.
  5. Gotcha, will do. May take a short while.
  6. I agree with Leif there, I just couldn't put my finger on why I didn't like the idea.

This Should be available to all Melee AT's, and I'm hoping it gets put in-game next Issue or Issue 14. Cross your fingers!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I understand that you're probably joking about that bit, but I think maybe you need to have a small note of reality injected.

NCNC will have had the majority of things going into I13 nailed down months ago. Nothing as major as a new powerset is going near I13.

They have also already nailed down most of I14. It is highly unlikely that a new powerset which is not already planned is going in there.

If they are planning to do 3 Issues next year, I15 has probably had its main features defined already. They may consider adding a set like this to that one. Possibly.

It's a good shortcut to destructible terrain. I like it!

    [/ QUOTE ]

If I'm in a car with you, and you suggest that we take a shortcut, I am going to respectfully decline.
  9. To be fair, kat/regen has an absurdly high survival potential, especially in melee situations.

Also, to be fair, /regen Scrappers were once gods. Perma-MoG got nerfed, then Instant Regen got nerfed, then MoG got nerfed again. Now, I think when Perma-MoG got taken out, people had to respec out of that one, but the rest of the nerfs had made little or no difference that needed a respec. OTOH, they did result in a slow degredation of the survivability of the set. Nothing you could fix with a respec, so respecs don't really give a good indicator.
  10. Ironically, I believe they did actually increase the spawn rate of many GMs when people complained they never saw them. Then they tweaked their risk/reward ratio to the point that no one bothered fighting them, and now we have the sight of three Paladins in King's Row and three Lusca's in IP.

    Sad really.
  11. I have a Facebook account because there were some family wedding photos on there and I didn't understand the Facebook concept.

The CoH group page is kind of bland. I assume it'll be expanded.

Oh, the Facebook concept: degrade the term 'friend' to the point where it means "someone I met once who can remember my name." (The friend invite I got recently from a 'gril' in Norway (or somewhere like that) who listed her interests as "Men" did not help my view that creating the account was a maistake.)
  12. *shrug* NCSoft won't do it anyway. Any new EAT needs to be accessible to both sides, apparently.
  13. Yes, that discussion has been done and done. As with most things, I think it's a matter of opinion, but I should point out that PvP is very much a minority sport in CoH.
  14. They would do. MoG was a death sentence if you popped it against anything firing psi damage.
  15. I'd suggest reading this thread.

There's also a thread somewhere pointing out that kheldians are not inferior to the VEATs.

I suspect you, like many others, have fallen foul of Cryptic's bad naming. 'Epic' ATs are not actually supposed to be more powerful than the other ATs. If anything, they are supposed to be more difficult to play, providing a challenge for those who have 'mastered' the game by hitting 50.

    I laughed out loud.

As for the historical 'uses' of ergotomine, try clicking on the wiki link I put in the report. I'll get back to you on the rest.

Only ever did Hami once, a long time ago. Unless it's changed, the only way I'd go back there was if the atrocious lag was sorted.

    [/ QUOTE ]

How long ago? The old Hami raid required blank costumes and featured standing around waiting for mezzes to set in a lot. I never did it, but I did watch it being done and it bored me silly just doing that.

It got revamped ages ago (over a year) into a sort of 40 man instance. Never seen that one done. Still sounds laggy.
  19. The regeneration set has the same issue. Somewhat worse, in fact, since it has less +DEF and +RES to help reduce all that Alpha damage.

The other thing about the Alpha Strike is that mobs will often kick off with their biggest, meanest, longest cooldown attack when they spot you. Hence, not only are you getting multiple mobs hitting you, they are using their most damaging attack all at the same time.
  20. Question: When people say 'farming,' what does this mean?

If you are after killing a lot of minion-level mobs, then you need AoEs and control. This why Ice Mages make good farmers in WoW.

If you are after bosses, you are far less likely to need AoEs and far more likely to need DPS. Scrappers are supposed to be boss-killers.

So, what kind of farming are we talking about?

Take your pick, I don't mind criticism, I'm always looking to improve my work.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thanks. I like to ask rather than assume.

You're into run on sentences. Try to cut back, they're harder to read. The first paragraph is a sentence. The first sentence of the second paragraph could easily be two as well.

Get someone you like to proofread for you. They may well catch things you miss like: [ QUOTE ]
    well defiantly not the latter

    [/ QUOTE ].

Please note that I am lousy at taking my own advice, you are obviously at liberty to ignore it.

You wouldn't believe the pain I had to go to to get this for you, so I expect a 50 mil Inf drop on my main by tomorrow.

It was called Mr Merlin and set in San Francisco. You'll find an IMDb listing here. It ran for two seasons during 1981 and '82, which puts me in my late teens (probably) when it was airing in the UK. It was kind of Sabrina the Teenage Witch before its time.
  23. Question: constructive criticism or bland comment to the effect of "nice story"?

Just to point out, it is a nice story, if too short.
  24. Haven't seen it yet so I dunno. I was thinking of one of the vet reward pieces which has a vaguely triangular mask, with texture, mounted in front of the face, not painted directly on top. That seems to be an indication that any mask could be placed infront of the face, not just a skin over it.

There was an old (ancient) American stcom based on the idea that Merlin survived until now and was now running a garage in LA (or similar). He was looking for the next Arthur so he could train him, and the Sword in the Stone had now become... a crowbar set in a bucket of concrete.

(And then some teenager comes along and pulls the crowbar out. Much hilarity ensues. Yadda.)
