I've had bios that were around 1100 or less that I've also spent plenty of time rewording and paraphrasing to get under the 1024 limit. Personally I wouldn't mind if they allowed a little more room, but certainly not open it wide open.

I've always thought it would be nice to have safeguards/mayhems available through the Ouro System. I have my lvl 50 badge toon that still hasn't gotten those badges yet and it certainly would make it easier to get them.

Hasten works with Granite Armor so no worries there.
-
Granite armor covers some things, but not the specific things New Dawn mentioned. There are also occasions where the added Regen from rooted is quite helpful.

What power selections have you made so far, and at what levels?
How have you slotted them?
Mid's Hero Planner can be your friend. -
Questions:
- Are you already running an Elec/Nrg tank, and if so, what do you have going on with it so far?
- Do you have a build in mind, if so please post it here using mids so we can make suggestions.
- What are your desired goals with the build? I.E. Defense? +Recharge? +HP, Power selection/order, etc?
- Is it a leveling up build or a respec at 50 that will never exemp, or something you plan on hitting every TF in the game?
If you can add a little something to your question I'm sure someone will be able to give you a response.
From my understanding, the timing changes to /Nrg has made the powerset "nerfed" in many players eyes, so you probably won't get many positive responses to that portion of your request. (I haven't played /Nrg so I really couldn't say)
Best of luck. -
I saw this on a movie marque in 2001
Riding in Cars with Boys
From Hell
Really wish I'd taken a picture of it. -
I agree that endurance issues for some AT's should be looked at for i17 and GR...
Oh wait. This isn't that kind of thread.
Uhm. Vitality. As this has been a continually evolving game (see CoV, GR and the upcoming i17 ) I'm not sure what you're getting at.
Ultra Mode will provide a new graphics engine/mode, but not one that will break the game for those with older hardware.
As more manpower has been added to the game staff improvements that we were told would be difficult, or nearly impossible given the constraints to staffing, have been achieved. Power customization for one example. It is of course a work in progress as there is more that can be accomplished in that area.
The Dev's continue to tweak, stretch, pull and prod the original game engine to make it do more and better things for the game. (I'm not talking PvP here, so my apologies there.)
They continue to add content to the game, though some of it hasn't made the full player base satisfied.
This isn't, and hasn't been CoX v.1 in a long time. I'm not sure it would qualify as CoX v.2. Probably more along the lines of Cox v.3.21, but that's really my opinion, nothing based on facts.
So no. I think they should continue doing what they're doing. Finding ways like GR to broaden this silly fun game we play and make it more enjoyable. -
Thanks much to everyone who showed up for Tanker Tuesday Justice. The Master portion of the MoITF ended up not working out, but we still had a successful ITF in the end.
Hope everyone had a fun time. If not, blame Warboss.
Just kidding.... of course. -
Dark Melee is certainly more focused on ST attacks, not AoE's. I do enjoy playing my Dark/Dark tank as she can tank most thing quite nicely. She doesn't do great damage, but she survives nicely.
When I get around to making another Dark/ tank I'll be leaning more towards /Electric or /Mace. In the end I suspect I'll be rolling up a Dark/Electric first. -
Quote:If the players have turned on the teleport prompt then it wouldn't be as much of a problem, but I suspect there would still be abuse. At the very least it would require the teleport prompt. Best case would be providing its own prompt like the Mystic Fortune that informs you what is about to happen.
Honestly, this power would be way too gimmicky to be placed in a primary or even ancillary power set. The best place for it would probably be a booster pack power, a vet reward, or a temp power of some kind. -
Kewl idea. It means anyone with this power can grief lowbies and others by throwing them into a large mobs, or even GM's! "Hey Lusca, how about a nice DP blaster for lunch! "
Not saying I'd do it, but you know there would be lots of folks who would abuse this idea. -
I found an AE mission that I've used to see how well my resist based tanks can hold out to overall damage with defense debuffs. I believe it's called Fire Kin Master's AE, and I've run it at +0x8, no bosses.
My Fire/Fire/Pyre can't survive the onslaught of damage in the mission as well as my Dark/Dark/Earth can. Dark Regen just makes it so much easier to survive. -
Quote:No matter what advice that is given here, you as the player always need to find what works for you. So if you're happy with what you've got, all the more power to you. If you feel you could use help, those that are willing to give advice certainly will. In the end you're the one playing the character, not us.I didn't post here because, even though its all the rage, I tend not to try to get a lot of expensive +defense on tankers that are oriented towards resist sets. Can you? Yes. Will you be more powerful because of layered types of protection (defense, resist)? Yes. However, my mind doesn't work that way and I just prefer to build for recharge and recovery.
Basically, I build in an entirely different (and perhaps inferior) way, so it wouldn't be useful to the conversation.
Here is my build, which nobody but me would like anyway.
Lewis
But you knew that already. -
Quote:Dont know if this has been mentioned before, probably has. But I would really like to see an Electric Mastery set added to the Ancillary Power Pools selections.
We have Elec Armor, Elec Melee, why not Electric Mastery.
Dont know what powers I would like to see, but maybe something like, Lightning bolt, Ball of Lightning....
What about u guys?
Since this is asking about something beyond just tanks... it really should be in the Suggestions and Idea's forum... -
Welcome to the tank forum.
First off, can you do us a favor and show us what your current build is? Mid's Build planner is a great tool for builds.
Secondly, you mentioned Acrobatics. I hesitate to get Acrobatics for a tank as the endurance cost outweighs the benefits you get from it. Although Active Defense is a click you end up with more status coverage then just Acrobatics alone. Plus AD gives you some defense de-buff resist, which for a shield tanks is very very helpful.
Go back and get your primary's status effect protection and throw in two recharges. In the long run it will help.
Once you've posted your build here, we'll have a better idea of what suggestions we can make. -
No hate or grumpiness intended here. Sorry if it came across that way. I was trying to point out that the OP was correct in that they had looked at the Fury mechanic for Tanks, but that it never happened, at least not live.
Having read many other threads around the forums discussing this same idea, I was under the impression that the reason tanks never received the fury mechanic was two-fold. To paraphrase "it would make tanks overpowered" compared to scrappers. To much damage for such a high level of survivability was always the reasoning brought forth. The second obviously being it ended up being used for Brutes.
I also added Castle's quote stating it would never happen for tanks.
I do think Gauntlet is a mediocre at best inherent, but until someone comes up with a better idea it's what tanks are stuck with. -
Quote:8% is certainly not a lot to start with. But there are folks who have soft capped Fiery Aura tanks starting with 0% defense. It's really a matter of making choices. Your choice certainly leans away from finding CoD useful, while others find it somewhat.8% is not a lot of defense in your primary to start with and then go and soft cap. There isn't any more defense in the set. Compare that to fully slotted Frozen Armor : 26.5% Defense to smashing and lethal. But the set stacks more defense from Wet Ice and Energy Absorbtion later.
It takes a lot of work to softcap 8% Defense. On top of it you have no resist defense debuff. I'm not sure its worth it to even try. Since you can add a lot more survivablity by playing to your other strengths.
Its not that 8% defense is paultry. Its just I think I'd rather spend my power choices and slots a different way.
On top of that there is a strong belief that in the game 1 Def = 2 Res. So it may be considered that the 8% defense is worth the equivalent 16% boost to your resists, which isn't a bad thing to have. I'm sure there are arguments going both ways on that.
Personally I chose not to soft cap either my fire or dark tanks, but have found that getting my defenses into the 20%+ range helps them take the alphas and slows down the amount of incoming damage to a more manageable level. Having CoD made it easier for me to get into that 20%+ range on my Dark tank. Against some enemies the defense will get de-buffed, but again it still helped against the alpha strikes before that happens.
I don't think CoD ranks down with powers like Inv.'s Resist Elements, Ice's Permafrost, or Fire's Temp. Protection. (Although the added slow resist in Temp Protection should help it get more respect.)
One of the better Dark Armor tank guides done by Jebe the Pirate goes into a bit more detail as to why he thinks CoD is helpful.
As always, YMMV. -
I don't believe Fury was ever promised for Tanks. I think they'd come up with the idea of Fury and were looking at possibly giving it to Tanks but decided in the end it would make Tanks over powered. Which, I think, is why in the end Brutes have it not Tanks.
-
Uhm. My Fire/Fire and SD/SS tanks mow groups down like a scythe through wheat. The orange numbers may not be as big as a brute/scrapper, but they're still nice numbers.
At one point I'd sent a PM to Castle asking if it was feasible in the game to do a single target Fury like mechanic for tanks. Not even asking for it, just asking if it was technically possible as I was curious about it.
His responseQuote:Fury for Tankers -- not a chance. -

Sigh, that's what happens when two people wear the same Costume to a party. -
Makes statement that Animated Hair is coming in the next issue based on foolishly taking one of BaB's jokes as a serious comment.
Takes a swing at "The Chin". -
CoD works fine for a tank. Gives you a little added defense, which is nice. If you don't have your taunt auras up or don't attack anything you can use it to stealth missions. Beyond that it has no effect on your ability to hold aggro. I use it constantly on my lvl 50 Dark/Dark without problems.

Quote:Hey, whatever works for you Blaze_Minded.Rock, Stone, whats the diffrence?Ill call it by either name if I so choose to do so.
Its a waste of time and energy to try to correct something you understand anyhow.Reguardless if its not in the proper wording or spelling.
Im pretty damn tired of you people trying to correct me as if your English Professors.Shut up already.
Anyhow, now that im done with that part of your reply.EM is pretty bad on the AoE scale, and so is Rock Melee, but maybe thats not to huge of a issue for me on these builds.Ever think of that?
Or was that Bonfire_Minded?
Combustion_Minded?
