  1. If you're looking for more recharge you really should find a way to get hasten into your build. That's an additional 70% recharge when it's up.

Depending on your play style, taunt would be the likeliest candidate to be replaced. Since you're not building very high defenses either you might be able to live without Weave in exchange for more recharge and keep in Taunt.
  2. This sort of idea has been discussed before. Including the thread "How would you change the Stone Armor set?" that I'd started a while back. I, like PSLAnimal try not to stay in Granite full time. I have always thought it was incongruous that unlike other sets, using your Tier 9 make ~45% of the rest of power set unavailable and or useless to you while you're in your Tier 9 power.

I believe Starsman had some good ideas concerning possible changes to the set. As always there were plenty of people who like the set as it is and would consider any change to be a "nerf".

I though I'd read a post somewhere from Castle saying that he thought Stone out of Granite underperformed and while in Granite it over performed, but I couldn't find the quote when I was looking for it the other day. I might just be remembering things incorrectly. I'll look again and see if I can find it.

    Stone/Energy

I don't have much to give in terms of your over all build, but as someone who does have a Lvl 50 stone tank I preferred to go with more +runspeed bonus' on top of recharge. I will run outside of Granite as often as possible so I've grabbed Rock Armor and +end/+rec to deal with how quickly I'll go through attacks. On top of that I prefer having Minerals for Psi attacks.

Also, I believe you aren't supposed to be seeing the defense buffs that you're getting in the Enzyme Exposures. Those are supposed to be defense debuffs, not defense buffs. The Cytoskeletons and Membranes should be the only ones that give you a defense buff. I've sent St0n3y, the Mids guy, a question about the Enzymes in Mids.

Hm... looking further into it the Enzymes can be slotted into a defense power, but is currently considered an exploit by the devs and that will be closed at some point.
  4. Tanker Tuesday on Justice? Say it isn't so!
  5. As Finduilas mentioned, the fighting pool isn't a bad thing to get if you're willing to spend the power selections. On top of making it easier to get to the soft cap with Weave, Tough set to the ED cutoff adds in nearly 24% resistance to s/l. That certainly helps with damage that does get through your defenses.

First of all, welcome to the game. It will take time to learn everything, but it's a fun game. The nice thing is you can choose either to be a min/maxer or not and still enjoy yourself. The CoHtitan wiki site is a great source of information about the game, including some of it's history. The wiki site should help you with quite a few of your questions.

Additionally, read the "Need help understanding tankers thread". There are some good answers to your tank questions there.

Also, Sally is a take off on the Loch Ness monster, so of course she should look like her.

If you haven't already scope out the Tanker Guide section and check things out there. Start with the General section area, even the older issue guides as things can still pertain to the game as it stands, plus you can see how things have changed over the games lifetime.

    Again, welcome to the game.
  7. Yeah. Seeing the same thing when I went to place items in my base.
  8. Oops, sorry about that. I didn't save my tweaks, but I think this is what I had.

  9. I like the changes Finduilas made to your build. As a second option to what she suggested I tweaked her build in a manner I'd prefer. Not saying it's better, just different and it gives you other ideas. Although the Numina unique is in a latter slot I'd get it in the build earlier then where it's shown.

  10. Quick first thoughts:

IF you want to be softcapped to all positions switch out the Mako's in one of your attacks for a set of Touch of Death and switch out the Oblit's in Footstomp for Multi Strikes. It will put you at 48.3% Melee, 50.2% Ranged, and 45.2% AoE.

Your data chunk is showing that you have two more slots, which I'd stuff into Taunt and two slot Mocking Beratement's: Taunt/Range, Taunt/Range,Recharge (for the +end bonus) and a Range IO to make it useful for taunting the yellow mito's on Hamidon raids. But that's more of a personal preference with Taunt.
  11. Ocho's OCD showed through when he couldn't stop making snowmen till he got one perfect.

If I am a winner, I permit NC Interactive, Inc. and NCsoft Europe Limited to use my name, likeness, photograph, hometown, and any comments that I may make about myself or this contest that I provide for advertising and promotional activities. I also certify that I am at least 13 years of age and am eligible to participate in this contest.
  12. Looking around for some examples of armor/helmet's I'd like to see in the game I found the Armor Venue website. It has tons of examples of armor, helms etc.

FYI, I am in no way affiliated with the site so no, I'm not trying to sell anything.
  13. On top of everything mentioned here, a well thought out, fully IO'd tank of any sort will do very well in the game.

Each has their plus' and minus', but IO's can help overcome most of those issues. Some certainly have an advantage in their own areas, but they can all be made quite strong.
  14. It was a entertaining change of pace and I'd be up for another run.
  15. Another thing to consider in the future is if you want to try and get this tank to the Defensive Softcap: 45% to all positions. Read the Shield/War Mace Epic pool thread in the tank forums here for more information about the softcap etc. Softcapping your toon will make it less necessary for self healing. Even though the mace part doesn't apply there's good information there.
  16. Even more thoughts.

You need another attack earlier then the mid 20's. Especially if you ex down for something in Ouro. Grab Bone Smasher earlier and wait on Whirling hands till later.

If you're going to get aid self, get it where you've got OwtS and put OwtS later in the build. You could even put Grant Cover at lvl 47 and put OwtS in it's place.

I'll do a correction on my earlier comment. Deflection is a great example where going with more then 4 slots on a defensive power works. The main reason is that it does both def and resist. Personally I'd put 3 def IO's, one end redux and two resist's. IF you can get your hand on the Steadfast def/res unique I'd replace one of the resist's with it.

Doing the stuff I've mentioned will get all of your positional defenses up to 31.7% with lvl 45 IO's.

On top of these things, getting the following Accolades will help as well: Atlas Medallion, Freedom Phalanx Reserve, Portal Jockey and Task Force Commander. You'll get +hp and + end to your totals for these.
  17. Ok. more stuff.

Any more then 3 slotting one type of enhancement gives you minimal return to the point of being worthless. So no more then 3 end redux, end mod, def mod, resist mod, etc. Basically you've gotten to the ED (Enhancement Diversification) cap.

Spots in your build where you've hit the ED cap. True Grit, Stamina, Grant Cover, etc.

You're probably trying to solve stamina issues. GET end redux in your attacks. You'll find that they use more endurance then your toggles do.

Generally with defense/resist powers it's perfectly fine to go with 3 def/resist and one end redux.

True Grit should be 3 resist/3 heals if you're going with standard IO/SOs.

Unless you're going to go with the Performance Shifter: Chance for +End you really don't need more then 3 slots in Stamina.

Active Defense only needs two recharges, nothing else.

AAO, one end redux and maybe if you've got the slot one taunt.

I'd get switch Phalanx fighting with Grant cover and I'd only use two slots with each, maybe more if you're looking for set bonuses.

Get more slots in your attacks and make sure you've got good acc, good end redux, good damage and good recharge. I prefer to keep most of my attacks with at least one end redux and the more costly ones under 10 end/attack especially if they're quick recharging.

Conserve power is fine with two recharges, or three if you can spare the extra slot.

Anywhosit, that's my first take on what you've got.
  18. Two things:

One, what do you actually have in those slots, even if they're SOs and basic IOs, etc?

Two, data chunk, data chunk, data chunk. Data Link isn't working.
  19. News release: source AP
    Quote:
The Human and Rikti home worlds have signed an unprecedented peace accord. For the first time in many years we are finally at peace. The biggest key to this peace accord was the ability to finally have Lord Nemesis, the instigator of the original discord, arrested and his powers suppressed to point of making him harmless. Mender Silos, his Praetorian counterpart was key to making this happen.

As part of this celebration, there will be parades down all of the major cities of both planets being scheduled for the next few months. The prestigious positions of Ambassadors are being sought at by many in high places. We should expect to have the names announced in the next few weeks or so before going to committee for approval. It is also expected that within 3-4 months there will be visitors allowed to both worlds, with tourism ramping up in the next year or so. Several unnamed sources have called this a bigger event then the Berlin wall coming down.

As part of the peace accord the remains of Omega team will be returned as will any remains of anyone who has died during this unfortunate conflict.

Positional and typed defenses used to be either/or, but they aren't anymore. All the IO bonuses contain both.
But you focused on getting your typed defense, S/L/E/NE capped while getting the Ranged defense up as well. Perfectly reasonable since you worked with Ice Defense's strength, which is typed defense.
  21. Can you show us what you've got going on so far? More information will help us know where you're at with your build and give us better ways of suggesting directions.

If you can, download Mid's Hero planner at www.cohplanner.com and put in your build as best you remember it and upload it here. Use the php/zetaboards format and please include the data chunk as the data link doesn't always work properly.

    Ok, just kidding.

Thanks to everyone who helped with getting the nukes last night. That was both fun and appreciated. Same for the impromptu ship raid. Happy to say I've got Shivans, Nukes and an HVAS for the raid. Should mean I'll be the second to die. Right after Faust
  23. I have a few questions as I've never done the nuke strategy before. If I'm available for Thursday nights raid I'm currently planning on bringing my Stone tank with a full load of EoE's.

If I'm on the Yellow Aggro team does having Shivans, HVAS or Nukes make sense? And if so, which of the nukes would be better for this? Will they be viable for doing any damage to Hamidon if I'm out on the perimeter taunting? It also sounds that unlike a typical Hamidon raid there won't be a specific Yellow Damage team killing off the Antibodies, is this correct?

If I have the time I shouldn't have an issue getting the Shivans and some Nukes, but I'm not sure I've got the Vanguard Merits for the HVAS on my stoner.

    Thanks for your time.
  24. I've got a lvl 15 SD/Axe and I'm enjoying playing it so far. Seems like it will be a fun toon in the long run.
  25. Congrats on getting your ice/ice to the defensive soft cap. But personally I'd never want to play this toon.

I have no experience with Ice Melee so I can't really comment on that portion other than this: Only two legitimate attacks until lvl 22 and then you're really only throwing in Ice Patch? Yikes. Hope you're teaming a lot as you're doing no damage what so ever for a while.

I hate seeing most defense/resist powers with more then 4 slots in them. There are exceptions to this rule but the defensive powers in Ice Armor don't fall into those exceptions for me. The steadfast +3% def/res is one of those unique IO's that gets an exception and is great being added to Tough beyond a 4 slotted set of Reactive Armor. The rest of the set bonuses and -kb you're getting out of the Karma sets, I don't think they're worth it. YOU especially don't need the -kb protection with Ice Armor.

No end redux in either Chilling Embrace or Icicles? I prefer having the equivalent of one end redux in Chilling, and the equivalent of two in Icicles.

Hibernate: If I recall correctly you can only use Hibernate every 60 seconds so having a third recharge in it is a waste of a slot.

Again, this is your toon and you need to decide what works best for you.
