    3 years? Really?

    Welcome back to the game.
  2. I found this to be very eye opening.

    L. Recluse, I know you don't feel like you're getting the recognition and the respect that you feel you deserve. I do understand this. Back when I'd been breaking into gold treasuries, robbing locomotives and planning world domination by manipulating all the countries into war, nobody knew who I was.

But then, I hired a great PR firm! It was like night and day. I went from being a nobody on the villain scale to being recognized for my world crushing villainy. Think about it, even if I've had NOTHING to do with some crime it's "All a Nemesis plot".

It was the best stolen money I've ever spent! You really should try it!
  3. If you were willing to get all of the toggles, stone armor might be your best choice. Most of the toggles will do some layering over your costume so you'll see plenty of colors. Minerals will show a few bits floating around your head, so it doesn't layer like the others, and stone skin doesn't have any visible effect. Mud pots is also tintable, so that might add to your concept.

Once you do get to Granite all bets are off as Granite currently isn't customizable. Although BAB's has asked questions about making it so we can customize, we've heard no definitive word on if and or when this might happen.

Power wise, ELM, Fire and Dark all have some level of customization available. I'd spend a bit of time in the character creator seeing which one works best for your idea.
  4. Questions for you:

Are you planning on PvP'ing with this toon?

What are you wanting out of the PvP enhancements?

If you're farming wouldn't you be looking for more recharge, +end/recovery and damage? And some sort of taunt to try and help keep the targets from wandering?

My first reaction at looking at your build was this; unless you're planning on PvP'ing, you're not really getting all that big a bang for your buck. I could be wrong, but that is my first impression.

Oh, and some where along the lines you broke the Law of Five on your set bonuses.
  5. HP capped on a WP/DM tank @ 3212 hps. Regen is 64.5 hps/sec standing alone, 91.6 hps/sec when one in range of RttC.

Not sure how playable, but here you go.

We were holding fast on top of the towers when word came down that His Majesty, Romulus Augustus had been killed, and that we should prepare for the loyalists to arrive.

Moments later the small group of them came raining in from the sky's and our entire Phalanx charged forth to defend our lives and our rights to take down the tyrant Imperious!

So as we charge forward what happens? LAG! My word it was so bad.

One moment the wimpy "magical" blaster was about to die by my hands and the next he was half way across the roof. None of my powers would activate!

So with all that lag what happens? Yep you got it, complete Tower Wipe! The dev's really need to fix this!

    The Dev's hate Cimerorans!
  7. I don't recall anyone mentioning this, but have you searched for a tea room where you live? Or even a place that sells loose leaf tea that does tastings? Both are great places to check out some of the variety of teas that are out there.

In addition to what's been mentioned I'd like to add this. Some teas taste better with milk, some don't. In some teas the milk would curdle. Some teas taste better with some sweetener, such as raw sugar or honey, some don't. Some teas are great if you add a small lemon rind twist or some lemon, most don't. How you fix one tea for drinking doesn't mean that it would work for the next.
  8. I must say, I've become a fan of Oppressive Gloom.

When I originally leveled my Dark/Dark tank to 50 her final power selection was Salt Crystals. I went with it for a couple of reasons; I didn't have any slots to put towards my final power and I figured the -def would help out with some of DM's accuracy when Soul Drain was down. I've since changed my mind. Even with hasten I was barely able to use Salt Crystals every other mob if that and the very high endurance cost made me question if it was even a viable power to use on a regular basis. (Again, I didn't have any slots beyond the default one to put towards this power) I've since respec'd into Oppressive Gloom and I'm quite happy I did.

Until I can finish IO'ing the tanks she currently sits in the low 30's on S/L and I can truly say wow, what a difference OG has already made to her survival. Being able to reduce the amount of damage I'm taking from all the minions because they're stunned has been very nice. Unless I'm getting my defenses horribly de-buffed I rarely feel the need to use Dark Regen, but when I am getting de-buffed OG has given me more breathing room while DR recharges.

Even though I can't stun Lts. Bosses, or AV's by stacking it with attacks it's still been pretty nice. I like OG so much that I've already made sure my Dark/ELM tank acquired it in his 20's where it will stack with the Thunder Strike's stun. Using OG has also upped his survivability quite a bit.

You can also count me in on this as well. Additionally if you are able to get yourself to the soft cap it makes it that much harder for the attacks with the -debuff to land in the first place. And the harder it is for them to land, the less likely you'll be getting so much debuffs right off the bat, etc.

But again, I'm not saying going for defense is in the best interest of every toon or player out there. I just know that it helps my characters survivability when I add in enough.

As some of you may have already guessed my avatar is in fact a Schooner. I guess I should explain myself. I am from Australia. We have seven different territories/states and each has its own rules. Let’s start where I am from, in Queensland. A Schooner is 425 mL so it’s about three quarters of a pint and is probably the most common measurement that a typical Aussie man would ask for in a bar. Alternative measures are a pot, which sounds bigger but isn’t, it’s 285 mL. Or you could ask for a glass which would be 200 mL.

Over in New South Wales, schooners and glasses are the same but a pot is called a middie. In Victoria it is all the same as Queensland but in South Australia a glass becomes a butcher, a pot turns into the schooner and a pint is only 425 mL, which is a schooner in everybody else’s language.
In Western Australia a glass is a bobby, a pot is a glass and a schooner is a pot, according to some sources. But others say it works out the same as it is in Queensland except a pot is a middie as it is in New South Wales. That’s because in Western Australia a pot is 575 mL which is slightly more than a pint but close enough to be called a pint by all the English people who live there.

I am not making this up, it’s for real.

In Northern Territory a schooner is a schooner but a pot is a handle and a glass is a seven. Although another source tells me that a glass is a six not seven, because the seven is actually a pot and the handle is 425 mL which of course, in most other places is a schooner.

Stick with me on this, we only have Tasmania left to go.

In Tassie, just as in N.T. (probably) a glass is a seven. But a pot is a ten and a pint only 425 mL.

And if your still confused by all the mL's. Just remember that 425mL is equal to about 14.3 oz.

Hope this helps to clear the confusion.

    Schooner

That's all well and good and indeed a fine and dandy explanation. Where's my beer?
  11. Yes it is possible to get over 3k hit points on a Willpower tank. Instead of focusing on sets that give you +regen, focus on sets that give you +hp. The nice thing about that is the more hp's you have the more regen you'll get as a side benefit.

Make sure you get the following Accolades as well as they give you hit point bonuses for a bit little bit of work: Freedom Phalanx Reserve, Task force Commander, and Portal Jockey. Those three Accolades alone will add close to 375 hps to your base.

Addendum: Taking and switching out a build I'd done for a WP/ELM tank to WP/DM and focusing on +hp I can push the tanks HP total to over 3200. This does include the accolades I mentioned being toggled on.
  12. Combat Jumping, sure.

Maneuvers, not a big fan of. Similar defensive numbers to Combat Jumping for over 5 times the end cost.
  13. It is believed that around 70% of all attacks have s/l components, so focusing on s/l isn't a bad thing. In the long run I really think it all depends on your power selections. If you have powers that give you positional defense, build on your strengths. If you have powers with typed defense, aka s/l, build on that.

Sets that give you s/l defense typically give bonuses in 3-4 slots compared to positional defense bonuses that typically come in 5-6 slots. There are certainly some sets that don't follow this exactly, but it's still fairly typical. If you're going for positional defenses from scratch you can't cover all three positions, but can do pretty well in one or two positions.

Whatever you do, don't sacrifice playability to try and eek out as much defense as possible.
  14. Rangle M. Down

    Hello Justice

    Welcome to the Nuthouse.
  15. I also will go through specific costume pieces and do a color swap as the default just doesn't work right for me.

I would not be opposed to this QoL addition.
  16. And my Dark Tank isn't as nicely IO'd as Dechs' is.

Back to the topic at hand.

Badger: I think you'll miss out not taking Tremor. A. it's a very nice Damage AoE, that B. also does knockdown. The kd does two things, mitigates damage and keeps them flopping in your damage aura. What would I replace it with? Well, Tanks don't get a great amount of help from Maneuvers. It's less defense then you get from Combat Jumping for over 4 times the endurance cost. You can easily replace the soft cap to s/l by changing the stuns in Fault to 4 slots of Mocking Beratement. Personally I would rather use most of those slots on Tremor to boost up damage/end redux etc.

The biggest thing I'd be concerned about is having enough recovery in between Energize being up and Power Sink's availability. I don't know ELA/ well enough to say whether you'll be running full steam or you'll be gasping for air. You've got great recharge on Power Sink so it "shouldn't" be a problem. Make sure you get the following four Accolades as they will help with your recovery and regen: Freedom Phalanx Reserve, Task Force Commander, Portal Jockey and The Atlas Medallion.
  17. First of all: Dang that's a lot of purples. This will end up being quite the expensive build.

The Numina's Unique would serve you better in health were it will be a constant bonus instead of just giving you help whenever you use Healing Flames.

I'm not a big fan of Melt Armor. Not because it's a bad power, but because of it's really glacial recharge. If you're just using it to get to Fireball I can understand, but I'm more of a fan of Fire Blast as it gives you a second ranged attack.

I'm also not a big fan of Hand clap since the kb will move folks out of your damage aura and possibly some of your AoE's. I can see using it as a mule for set bonuses, or for some mitigation when needed.

In the long run I would be very concerned at how well your blue bar holds up, that's a ton of recharge with not a huge amount of +end/+rec and your big hitting attacks are very poorly slotted for end reduction. You'll be using over 40 pts. of endurance in Fireball, Foot Stomp, and Knock Out Blow for just one round of attacks. You'll be hard pressed to keep a constant attack chain with that kind of endurance usage.
  18. I'll put in a vote for Fire/SS.

I have both a Lvl 50 Fire/Fire and a Lvl 50 SD/SS tank and between the two the SD/SS goes through mobs quicker. But, my lvl 31 Fire/SS tank does quite well on its own and seems to have the potential to out damage the Fire/Fire, more so on the single target, vs. AoE. Watching double stacked Rage fuel Blazing Aura is a sight to be seen, especially with the occasional FE to boost it further. It will be interesting to see how he looks once I get to Foot stomp.

As an aside, Castle has mentioned that he will be taking a look at Shield Charge at some point reigning back it's over the top uberness. If, when, or how he's going to implement those changes we'll have to wait and see.

Just wanted to add that I am a big fan of Fiery Aura, and the Fire/SS is a lot of fun to play.
  19. If I am a winner, I permit NC Interactive, Inc. and NCsoft Europe Limited to use my name, likeness, photograph, hometown, and any comments that I may make about myself or this contest that I provide for advertising and promotional activities. I also certify that I am at least 13 years of age and am eligible to participate in this contest.

And we'd like to introduce our two new Redname Forum Moderators; Kenji Ichi and Bob!
  20. I have a lvl 31 Fire/SS tank that I'm somewhat ignoring until GR comes out. I plan on making him into either a Rogue or a Villain and I haven't decided which.

The Super Strength's kd helps both in mitigation and in keeping foes from running out of burn because of the fear. Consume makes the -end on the rage crash fairly mute. It's a fun toon to solo and has was leveling quite easily.
  21. Welcome to the world of Enhancement Diversification, from now on known as ED.

What that basically means is that once you start slotting in 3+ enhancements of any one kind you're going to get diminishing returns on that enhancement. So it's pretty pointless to slot more then 3 of anyone type, and some folks don't think it's even worth using a third. See the above link for a fuller explanation.

So, don't bother with more then 3 heals in Fast Healing, Rise to the Challenge, and Health. No more then 3 End Mods in Quick Recovery and stamina. No more then three defense/resist Mods in anything... Etc, etc, ad-nauseum.

So, move a bunch of those slots around into your attacks, etc. as helping to defeat the enemy will also help in your survival. You'll want acc, end redux, damage and recharge, and not necessarily in that order.

That's at least something to start thinking about for now.
  22. Can you put your current build into Mids and export it here so we can see what you've got so far? Let us know what changes you're thinking about going with concerning power choices, etc. Give us a place to start.
  23. Agreed, it was quite the inspiring turn out from Liberty. Thanks to everyone who showed.
