Thanks for a very fun TTJ. I know there were two full ITF teams going. I believe one finished in 1:19 and the other in 1:37. Thanks to whomever was leading the other ITF, I never did catch the global. There were also three mission teams lead by Jebe the Pirate, Papa Slade and kangaroo120y(aka Kanga Red). Thanks to everyone who participated and helped make it a great turn out. Hope everyone had fun.
I want to make sure and note that P.E.R.C. and Justice Events provided prizes for the the Winter Meltdown event. Thanks to Philly, Ice Knight and Co. And of course a big thanks to Warboss, aka Nuclear Medicine for putting it all together. -

As for the Brute vs. Tank comments.
Brutes do not equal Tanks.
Brute are not greater then Tanks and Tanks are not greater then Brutes.
They function differently and both have pluses and minuses. Individual preferences will always cloud the issue.

Back to the main topic at hand. I tend to find "resistance" tanks do better at lower levels while defensive tanks tend to do better at higher levels, especially when they can get close(r) to the soft cap. The more defense you can give a tank that has a strong base of resistances the more they can outshine sets with higher defense, but little resistances. The later usually requires an investment into IO sets to achieve. Add in team buffs and it makes it even easier for any tank. -

I'll also add that as someone with numerous tanks it generally comes down to what tank I'm in the mood for, or what tank I think can handle the particular task at hand. Some situations I'll bring one of my Fire tanks, others might be better suited to my Dark, Stone, SD, ELA, or Inv. tanks. Some times it's just a coin toss as to which one I play.
The only one that I find wanting at times is my Ice tank. I think that has more to do with me not having figured out the Ice set well enough in my mind, as I've seen some Ice tanks do things that have left me scratching my head going "why can't I do that with mine"..... -
I'll echo what Philly said. I'd also like to add that generally the themed events are used to showcase specific types of power sets for those that may not have used them before. I think it creates a greater opportunity for folks to ask questions about the themed sets of the players who are using them in the TT event.

Which is why a lot of Resist based sets try and add in Defense as another layer on top of the resists.

Get Active Defense down to a 60-second recharge and put it on auto-cast so you can have capped defense debuff resistance and literally ignore any defense debuffs thrown at you. Membranes may be necessary in Active Defense.
Here is a build template I use for Shield Tankers. Add more global recharge (until you have perma-Hasten and 2x Active Defense), HPs, and regeneration to the build in that order.

Both changes are of course personal preferences. Either would probably suit you better then you're first Soft cap build, and give you greater flexibility. -

The tankers that complain about its presumed poor performance are the ones that have a deluded perspective and don't understand that the most survivable AT cannot also be the highest damage dealing AT. They do not see the sets over performance, and instead only compare Super Strength for tankers to similar damage dealing sets of scrappers.

Dechs, I have no doubt that with your soft capped build that OG would do more damage to your tank then the Minions would.
Unfortunately my lvl 30 Dark/Elec tank isn't yet, and I may not build him that way. (Mind you I still need to do an i19 respec on this toon.) But I did find that adding in OG at level 26 gave me breathing room and I didn't need to fire off Dark Regen nearly as often for the tank to survive larger mobs. -
You can also get the Titan Sentinel and use it to pull your current LIVE builds into Mids using the export function. The Sentinel can also be found via www.cohtitan.com.

I like OG for the low cost mitigation against Minions that it provides. Less damage= less damage I need to heal.
