Thanks for the additional comment on Phalanx Fighting. I knew I was forgetting something.
-
I'm not sure I would want to include "Exalted" in the TT roulette. From what I can tell Tanker Tuesdays have always been an inclusive event. Especially with the Tanker Tuesday Tour.
"We" want to include anyone and everyone who wishes to join in on the fun. Because the soon to be accessible Exalted is a VIP only server, doing a TT on Exalted will suddenly become an exclusive not inclusive event. I'm not sure it fits the original concept of TT to exclude F2P or Premium players from joining in on a TT event. Mayhaps a special edition TT would be in order, but I'm currently not sold on the idea. I'll have to mull it over a bit longer. -
Quote:S/l and Melee soft cap covers different things. Not saying that I would go that direction, but if it works, it works. Why did you softcap melee if you have S/L softcapped? And why didn't you softcap E/N? If you rely on Barrier you can do both S/L and E/N softcaps without sacrificing too much.
For Severe, it works. In the end, that's all that matters. -
My Fire/Fire/Pyre tank has both the tier4 Cardiac and tier3 Spiritual Alpha. I've been running him with the Spiritual lately. He's also set up with both Reactive and Diamagnetic Interface. Diamagnetic isn't bad, but like all debuffs it can be resisted. Which means it's not extremely helpful against higher conning enemies or AVs. I don't think Reactive adds more dmg to Fiery Embrace, but I could be incorrect on that. As always YMMV.
-
I suspect I won't be around for tomorrow nights TT on Justice. Have fun with the new toys.

Don't feel like you have to take the build I put up as "gospel". Pick and choose options that fit your needs/wants.
I've got a couple of tanks that I've respec'd into their new builds and didn't rush to get rid of the old IOs. Some of the cheaper ones I just slotted over, not worrying about yet another respec to pull them out. -
My list.
1: Tanks
2: Controllers
3-9: Corruptors /Dominators/Brutes/Scrappers/Blasters/Masterminds/Defenders (in no particular order)
10/11: VEATS/ HEATS
12: Stalkers
I placed Stalkers last because I have yet to find a stalker combination I like. I'm trying out a ninja/ninja currently. The VEATS/HEATS are towards the end of the list as I'm really only getting around to leveling up a few of them. -
A few things to consider;
- You shouldn't need more then two slots in Active Defense, both recharge. You can drop a third in at lower levels, but I'd respec down to two once the toon gets into the 30+ level range.
- Against all Odds is fine with a single End redux.
- True Grit and Deflection are your only sources of resistance in SD, so slot some Resist IOs in them.
- Grant Cover also provides Defense Debuff resistance and should be in the build, but you can wait till late in the build to take it.
- You don't need kb protection IOs in Shield Defense.
- Hand Clap is skip-able
- Get Rage. Get enough recharge to stack it. Super Strength is balanced around Rage.
- Getting Rage stacked will avoid the -def on the Rage crash and the -end on the crash. It will NOT avoid the -dmg crash. Use veteran and temp powers during this time.
- Foot Stomp is the only AoE in SS, and what a lovely AoE it is.
-
I haven't played with Ice Melee enough to say what's good/bad about the set or what's ok to skip. But I have played with Fiery Aura a bit.
I've tweaked your build... alot. You're now withing one small purple of the softcap for s/l/e/n and have higher resistance numbers. The KinCombat sets won't be cheap, but can be purchased through hero/villain merits very easily. Over all it's not an inexpensive build, but it's not a mega expensive build by any means.
I've given you better kb protection. Fire/ doesn't have any kb protection and for the most part you can get away with having 4 points of protection. Unfortunately when you get into higher end content, such as Hamidon raids, Fake Nemesis and some AVs, 4 pts doesn't cut it. You will want to have 12 points of protection as that will cover 99% of the kb in the game.
I recommend getting the following Accolades: Atlas Medallion, Freedom Phalanx Reserve, Portal Jockey and Task Force commander. They give you auto bonuses of +end and +hp. See: Hero Badges with Effects.
In the end this is your toon so you need to be happy with the results and playability. I'm hoping what I've crafted here for you will give you some ideas, and a possible direction.
Onto the build:

Along the same lines, if I'm the first one to zone into IP and see that it's at the far south I'll tell my teammates to go through Brickstown as it's quicker to zone twice then it is to travel to that end from the current tram terminal.
-
You're data link isn't working. Please copy/paste your build in again and include the data chunk. If you edit or preview your post with the build included it seems to mess up the data link. (Such happy forum software.
)

I thought the mods deleted /em ragequit threads? Nvm.
For the most part I'm with Hyper on this. They need the language to cover their behinds. Anything that crosses the legal boundary of your particular State/Province/Country etc. will still be illegal and the EULA won't super-cede. -
-
As mentioned, /Dark is more Single Target then /Dual Blades. I'm tempted to make a Dark/MA tank once i21 goes live, especially with the +defense in the tier 2 power.
-
There was a dev chat highlight thread where I think it was either Positron or Second Measure that stated "eventually almost everything will get proliferated". Wait found it. (See this dev chat highlight thread.) So there's still a possibility that Broadsword could "eventually" get ported to tanks.
Before the Dev's added in the +10% defense in MA's tier 2 power, I would have thought Parry's +def. might have kept them from porting over BS. Now, who's to say. It could happen.
Mind you, I'm certainly not holding my breath, and would love to see it ported to tanks. -
Can't say that I can complain much about this thread being necro'd. I'd be happy with some better transportation options in IP, whether it's a south terminal, more smuggler ships, or the speed boat idea.
I'd prefer not to have a feeling of dread knowing that invariably some set of missions in IP will send me from one end to the other and back a few times.
When I'm leading a tip team and a tip sends us there, I know the questions will be "IP? Really? Do we have to go there?". -
Barrier isn't really necessary for a Fire tank in the Fire AE missions. I'll use it if I've got a friend or two along for the ride as it helps keep them alive.
-
I wanted to add that I also have both Tier 3 Barrier and Rebirth Destiny Incarnate powers. I typically don't use either in the AE, but they're nice for different reasons.
-
Let's just say I'm not a huge fan of Maneuvers for tanks, so I'd drop that in a heart beat and put in burn instead.
As a comparison I'll drop in my Fire/Fire/Pyre build at the end of my post. I can ticket cap with him in under 6 minutes running +1/x8. Not a speed record by any means. I never run out of endurance. I am set with the tier 4 Cardiac, the Tier 3 Reactive Interface, and Void Judgement . It's not the "best build" in the world, but it works for me.

Mother Mayhem: "Imperial City Cosmetic Specialists" are the best in all of Preatoria for your Breast Augmentation needs. You WILL go there.
-
Don't forget Tanker Tuesday Champion will be this evening. Same Tank time, Same Tank channel, same Tank location.
-
You're still soft capped without Combat Jumping, so you could substitute that out for taunt.
Personally, I tend to leave OwtS at it's base slot and would redistribute the extra slots around instead of trying to get set bonuses there. YMMV. -
I'd suggest searching for any AE arcs with "fire" in title. I'm sure a few of the more popular ones will show up in your search. I believe one of them is a "Hall of Fame" arc.
Your build seems very endurance heavy, and probably runs through end pretty quickly. I hope you're working on getting the Cardiac Alpha to tier 4 to help with that. I'm also surprised you didn't work burn in, as it's a pretty strong although small AoE in the Fiery Aura.
Personally I use the AE tickets more for salvage then for the random recipe rolls.
If you weren't aware: Recipes in the AE are all based on random ticket rolls. Depending on recipe you receive, it will scale to the maximum level the recipe can be found at, compared to your toon level. As a level 50 character you can't "buy" the recipe at lvl 35. So if a recipe maxes at level 50, you'll get a level 50. If it stops at lvl 30, then it will be 30.

When I'm in the mood for an amusing AE run or two I'll grab a mission/arc from @Wishful and @Wishful2. I find the stuff he's done to be a bit of a kick in the funny bone.
Not as efficient as doing fire farms, but entertaining to me none the less.
