Some people use Granite as a fall back, instead of running in it 24/7. I'm not saying it's your preferred choice, but it is a choice.

I've avoided running in Granite if there's another tank on the team taking aggro. It allows me to attack more often and do more damage because I'm not suffering from the -rech, -dmg penalties of Granite. I don't bother being in Granite during the majority of a Hamidon Raid once the monster hunting is done. Especially if I'm Hami-bait. Granite isn't necessary at that point. Rooted, with Earth's Embrace recharging ASAP, is.

Those are just a couple of examples where I find running outside of Granite to be beneficial, and not a detriment. Of the Stone armor set I didn't bother picking up Brimstone so I'm not running all the toggles outside of Granite armor, so that does help on the end/sec. usage.

  4. Has anyone mentioned "The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai across the 8th dimension"?
  5. Ok. I wasn't going to add any more movies here... but then I realized no on had mentioned this film: Army of Darkness.

Bruce Campbell at his cheesy best. "Give me some sugar baby!"

I don't recall Taunt or Gauntlet even causing the Lt's in the BAF to stutter step, much less focus on my tanks, while on their way to the exits. Bruising, however, still functions.

True, but some of these are very worth seeing at some point.

I think the only one I've mentioned that would count as a horror/scary movie would be Psycho. Some of the others are suspense/drama.
  9. Dang, I keep thinking of more.

Dr. Strangelove; or How I learned to Stop Worrying and love the Bomb.
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
    Psycho (the 60s version)
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
    The Hustler
    Judgement at Nuremberg

    I'll stop here.....
  10. I'd like to add these:

    Chinatown
    Apocalypse Now
    Reservoir Dogs
  11. Time Bandits
    Blade Runner

I hadn't seen those mentioned yet.

And for a something a bit out there. Rocky Horror Picture Show.
  12. Not that I'm advocating they go with my ideas for Radiation Melee and Radiation Armor, but if anyone hasn't seen them and would be interested in reading them I've added in links.

Hopefully you won't think they're too horrible.

New mechanic called "Impact" added to the set. A bonus for using Lift or Propel hit by Grav Distortion. You'll get bonus damage for using Lift/Propel, as the hold cancels out the knock effect.

Projectile speed on Propel has been upped as well. That will be ported over to other things with slow projectile speeds.

Lift was not doing as much damage as it ought. It was doing 0.8 scale and will be doing 1.3 scale. That carries over to Singularity for Trollers and Doms.

kwsapphire: Summary: Gravity Control changes: any foe held by the grav hold who is then hit with propel or lift will take extra damage.

"Kind of like Time Manipulation, and the synergy with other Grav users since you can use any Grav hold, like you can use anybody's Disintigrate."

Dominator Lift was already at the proper scale, it will carry over to the Dom pet however.

My concern with including this kind of a change: It would short change resistance sets that don't come with defense powers who use Tough/Weave to layer in more mitigation.

When you take CoF out of the equation, DA is actually much easier on endurance than most other Tanker primaries in terms of toggles. The other big endurance hog, of course, is Dark Regeneration, but some intelligent slotting and a Theft of Essence proc largely obviate that.
Only reason I went with Cardiac on my Dark/Dark tank was for the +resistance.

(There is no sarcasm in this post...I REALLY REALLY want to know!)
My lvl 50 DA/DM tank currently has 3.95 end/sec recovery vs. 1.50 end/sec usage while running 10 toggles. I only have endurance issues during longer fights, which at that point I may have to use Dark Consumption for endurance recovery, or I can turn off Super Speed for a little bit. My build was originally based off of Jebe the Pirate's Dark Armor guide in the Tank Guide forums. Even though it's an i14 guide, a lot of the information there is still valid.
  19. Now that there are dogs in the City, there needs to be a leash law!

  20. One thing that's been nice for Tanker Tuesdays has been the Death From Below trial. A couple of weeks ago I lead a low level team, doing back to back DFB, to get the brand new level one toons high enough to run Posi-1. At that point we ran Posi-1. In the end the DFBx2 and Posi-1 were accomplished in under 2 hours.

Everyone seemed to have a lot of fun on it, I know I did.
  21. Bruising:
Currently Bruising does a 20% resistance debuff through the tier 1 attack that does not stack.

From what I understand you can either have an effect, such as bruising, renewed or set to stack and you can limit the stacking. You can also have a portion of an effect set to renew and a portion set to stack. With the third mechanic in mind, here's what I would suggest as a couple of changes to Bruising.

Concept A: Reduce the -20% resistance base to 18%. Still enough to make it viable solo. Secondly take that "missing" 2% and allow it to stack 6 times. This way with multiple tanks you can push the -resistance to 30%. This would make it so that tanks, like all the other ATs, would become a force multiplier when you bring more tanks onto a team instead of being redundant. The debuff time length might need to be shortened to keep a single tank spamming it's tier 1 attack to reach that level of -resistance.

Concept B: Keep the -20% resistance base as it is. Add in a minor secondary -regeneration component that would stack. This would do two things. One, as was mentioned in Option A, it would make having a second tank on a team be a "threat modifier" and Two, adding in the debuff would also up the threat generation and make it easier for a tank to keep a single target's aggro.

I'm not sure if these are the best ways to change bruising, but from my perspective these wouldn't be bad places to start.
  22. I think I finally do understand what you're trying to say here, "mechanically".

Right now, as was mentioned, attacks do the following things. A.) Check a set of defensive flags to see if it hits. IF it does hit, then B.) it checks how much type of dmg it does multiplied by your resistance to each dmg type. As far as I'm aware, once the game decides if it's hit you or not, it doesn't care about the defensive flags anymore, only the resist numbers.

What you're saying is this. A.) Check a set of defensive flags to see if it hits. IF it does hit then B.) Check a new set of flags (vector) to see which of your armor set(s) the dmg has to go through before C.) check how much dmg it does against those particular armors that have the normal typed resistances that already exist in game. D.) then apply the damage on the character based on those results.

Instead of having one set of resistance values for a character, your set idea you'd have 4 sets of resistance values. One set of S/L/E/N/P/Tox each for Melee, Ranged, AoE and none vectored attacks. Just a few added steps to the calculations

Logically, the idea still doesn't make sense from my perspective. I'm not sure you'd be able to change that.

And even without Granite, stone has..3? 4? powers that ruin your costume. Minerals, rock armour, cystal armour and rooted. 4 powers you NEED to have on without granite. I will ask again..if the costume was such a consideration, in not running granite..how do all these powers get included too?

Willpower, ice, dark, fire, invul, sr..all these armours can be made awesome..without needing ONE power..there tier 9s. Stone, is mediocre at best, without its tier 9. Because the set is basically balanced on the fact you will be in granite.

I just dont see how skipping the best power in the set is evolution..when the other powers offer nothing the other sets cant do much better.
But you don't need to be in Granite 24/7 if you can build the character to be survivable outside of it. Granite makes for a nice fall back should all else fail. The -dmg, -recharge and -run speed, while in Granite, can be over come to a certain extent, but again, if you don't need to be in Granite to survive, why would you stay in it all the time?

If the guy's happy with his build, and doesn't have a problem surviving outside of Granite, good for him. There is no ONE way to craft builds in this game and as long as it works for you, and you're not a detriment/leech on a team, it's all good.
  24. As much as I advocated having Bruising stack earlier in this thread, my understanding of how bruising works in the game has changed. Bruising can be flagged as it is now, not to stack, or it can be set to stack even from the original "caster". For it to be viable within the game to stack, I would think that they would probably have to do a couple of things.

Reduce the duration to a point where a single tank couldn't spam it to a high enough level on a single target, and reduce the -res percentage so that even with a full team of tanks the -res doesn't become ridiculous. Could they create a cap on how much the bruising could reach? I don't know. Should they change bruising I would expect one, if not both of the changes I mentioned to happen. There maybe another work around that I'm not thinking of.
