Since Procs work when the power is activated, then they continuously work when slotted in a Passive Power or in a Toggle that's turned on. Procs that are in continuous powers cycle or pulse on once every 10 seconds. This is also true when they work in certain pseudopets like 'rains' or 'patches' that have an enduring effect. If slotted in a click power, Procs activate just once for the duration of their effect.

    Elec/TW Tank

Not 100% sure if I like this build or not, but at least this should give you something to think about. It gets you within one purple of s/l/e/n. some decent recharge vs. end usage, although with the FF proc going off I'm not sure if you'll have endurance issues or not.

Anywhosit, take a look and see if this a. works for your, or b. give you any ideas to incorporate into your build. Hopefully this helps a touch.

  3. Finduilas' suggestions are very nice, as always, and her build is also very well done.

I wouldn't call this build better then her's by any means, but I am including it from a different point of view. Lately I've decided I really like the idea of including Hami-O's in Invincibility. If you wanted to get carried away, you could replace the Cytoskeletons in Invincibility with Enzyme Exposures. Be aware that you can only slot the Enzyme's there because of a long standing bug in the game that "could be" fixed at some point.

  5. If you click on the data link at the top it should open up in Mids for you.
  6. Generally if I'm not interested in teaming I respond with "not at the moment, thanks. have a good one" and that usually gets a "thanks for responding, have a good night".

But I do have a couple of stories.
A few years ago I received a blind invite. I turned it down. This particular character's flag states "Blind invites will be ignored or ridiculed." The first invite was followed up by a couple more. Slightly exasperated by the repeated blind invites, I sent them a tell. "What part of 'No' don't you get?" Their response was "The part where I don't care." Needless to say they were put on ignore.

The second story happened last week. I'd just finished up a Tanker Tuesday event and was taking a few minutes to chat with the team leader, who was running an Ice Tank, before logging. While the two of us where chatting we had someone dash up to us, repeatedly asked to be invited to the team. In spite of our telling them several times that we were just talking, they kept insisting that we "invite them!" Eventually I told the leader that he should invite the guy and let him figure it out on his own if he wasn't going to listen to us. So he did. We kept chatting about Ice Armor and the Incarnate end game while the new guy kept asking what we were going to do now. The Ice Tanker and I kept chatting until the other guy got bored, said he was bored, and quit the team. We both got a chuckle about that, wrapped up our conversation and logged. Was it our fault the new guy didn't believe us, and wouldn't listen?
Really, if I'm not interested in teaming with you, why would you want me along anyway? Find someone who is.
  7. Ok.

First of all, if you're farming then you should be "cherry picking" your foes. IE grabbing enemies that use fire damage since that works with your strength. No need to worry about shoring up your weaknesses.

Secondly, you'll want lots of damage.... lots and lots of damage. Which.. you're not really slotting for. Jacobs ladder is slotted for end modification?
Thunder strike is slotted for Stuns? Boxing is slotted with a purple set? The procs in Blazing aura are interesting, but procs aren't well thought of in toggles for the most part.

Thirdly, you want lots of recharge, which you've done. But you don't have damage to leverage that.

Fourthly you want enough endurance recovery to compensate for your recharge... which you've sort of done. Putting both the Numina and Miracle Unique IOs into Healing Flame means they'll only work when you use Healing Flame, so it's much, much better to put them in health where you'll get a constant bonus from them.

Leadership pool on a farming build? Uhm... how does that add to your damage, etc? I don't think Maneuvers on a tank is worth the Endurance cost for the defense you get out of it. IF you're "cherry picking" your foes, you don't need the extra defense Maneuvers brings to the table.
If you craft your build correctly, Tactics is superfluous and an additional waste of endurance. At least in my mind it is.

Additionally, you've got two PvP IOs that go for anywhere between 2-2.5 billion apiece that don't add to to the "More dmg", "More Recharge" or the "More recovery" of a farming build. Throw in the purple set in boxing?

I didn't want to be such a negative Nelly, but from my perspective both your builds don't make sense for what you want them to do.

So, all that being said, I did go through and change things around. You can certainly choose to ignore what I've done, take some things and incorporate them, or find ideas that will work for you. In the end it's your toon and you've got to be happy with it. I did work in more damage, more recharge and reasonable endurance recovery. I did toggle on the four accolades I like getting on a tank: Atlas Medallion, Freedom Phalanx, Portal Jockey and Task Force Commander. Great + end and +hp bonuses.

If you feel you're having issues with endurance, consider Cardiac or Vigor for your Alpha slot. Again, I do hope you find something worthwhile in the following build that helps.

  8. Rangle M. Down

    Xmas Geek Swag?

The only geeky thing I received this Xmas was a Monty Python's "Tim the Enchanter" hat.
  9. I highly recommend reading Call Me Awesome's Invulnerability guides:

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=133483

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=126983

Take a gander at those guides and see how your current build compares. Read a few of the threads here that show builds for other Invulnerable tanks and see what has been recommended. I think some of the ideas and suggestions in both CMA's guides and the other Invulnerable threads will give you some great ideas to improve your tank.

Np. This is with one in range of Invincibility. Hope you have fun with it.

  12. I hadn't noticed it earlier, but mauk2's build goes over the Law of Five when it comes to the 1.25% E/N set bonuses. You may wish to change a couple of things to accommodate.
  13. You could also get a hair more defense out of the build if you used Enzyme Exposure Hami-Os instead of the Cytoskeletons.
  14. And here's another option for you to consider as well.

  15. Ok, feedback on what? What are your goals for your build, besides dropping in Purples and PvP IOs?

In general I'm not a fan of what you've got here, but I need more information from you before I could give advice in any one direction.
  16. The following build is based off of one of my Dark/Dark tank builds. I didn't rearrange the power selections to mirror your current selection, but I did change sets and slots, etc. around. I've toggled on the 4 accolades I like to get on a character, Atlas, Freedom Phalanx, Task Force Commander and Portal Jockey. (nice +end and + HP bonuses with the four of them).

Should I ever make a Dark/Kin this would be closer to my preferences. Soft capped to S/L, in the lower 40's on e/n. (if you want to soft cap e/n you could grab the really expensive Glad. Armor +defense and replace one of the Reactive Armor: Defense IOs) Not sure if the end usage vs. end recovery is enough, but this build has two P-Shifter procs so it "should be" ok.

If nothing else this might give you some ideas.

I'm not a hardcore number cruncher like some of the folks in this thread, but:

Brutes share the same resistance cap as tanks - 90%
Brutes can soft cap defense like every other AT - 45%+

Yes, Tankers have a higher Max HP at 3534 with Brutes at 3212.7 Max HP, but wasn't 3212.7 Tanker's Max HP before they got an increase some issues back? And IIRC Tankers were still doing just fine prior to that.

Either way, I know this has nothing to do with the thread - I just think it's unfair to say that Brutes are -way- more squishy than Tankers.

    BROOTPRIDE!

    /2inf
Brute and Scrappers start out with 75% of a Tanks defense and resistance. Between the two, the Brute will start out with a slightly higher HP which in of itself does translate into a type of additional pseudo resistance bonus.
Once you get a scrapper or a brute to the soft cap, the differences aren't as great between them and tanks. (although the RNG will point them out occasionally) It takes more work to get the equivalent Scrapper/Brute to the soft cap compared to a Tank. Not that some sets, like SR and SD make it all that hard. Once you start getting outside buffs, the Brute can become nearly as survivable as the equivalent Tank, especially the resistance sets. They can't get there on their own in most situations. At the caps the only difference in survivability is the difference in total Hit Points each can have.

Of the three, brutes have the widest range of survival and damage capabilities depending on build and outside buffs.
  20. Electric/Martial Arts (you'll get a nice defense bonus from Storm kick. Fairly "quick feeling")

Electric/Dual Blades (a bit gimmicky on the combos, but still a nice set to play. You can keep the +dmg from Blinding Feint up fairly often even when not used in a combo)

Electric/Street Justice (Has some fun animations and isn't as specific on combo's as Dual Blades has. Plus, more AoE then Martial Arts)

Electric/Fire (Moar dmg plz..., Moar AoE plz..., but not much mitigation.)
  21. Speaking of the Manticore, we finished in 1:11 and change. Shockingly enough, Witty never died.

Thanks again to everyone who joined in on that. A special thanks to Redlynne for taking the star and running the TF.
  22. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned or not, but here's a thought that recently struck me. Mind you it's probably too gimmicky, or stepping on other ATs a touch, but here goes. Once again, I don't think it's needed, but I'll throw it out here anyway.

What if tanks had a "Inspiration" bar. Give tanks an subtle AoE team buff that provides a miniscule mez resistance. No Mez protection, just resistance. The more a tank gets attacked and lives the more the mez resistance improves for the team. Nothing over powering. Nothing that steps on defenders or other true buffers. This would also keep it from becoming overpowering on Leagues with multiple tanks. Have it use a mechanic similar to fury, but with a quicker decay. The tank dies, the "inspiration" is gone.
  23. I think Brute players would love this. They'd never have to worry about a tank getting in first and grabbing all the aggro and ruining their fury building potential.

So yeah, not a good idea for Tanks. Sorry.
