  2. As someone who has both a Fire/Fire/Pyre and a SD/SS/Nrg tank, they play differently. Both are great at dmg. I prefer the Fire for most situations as fire is typically less resisted then Super Strength's smashing dmg. The SD being soft capped will survive some situations the Fire tank won't. But it truly goes both ways. There are some situations, like DE, that my Fire tank breezes through that can melt the SD tank. (Damn you Quartz Emitters!)
  3. As far as I'm aware there are only few ways to acquire these. From the Hero/Villain super packs, the action house (Wentworth/Black Market), Astral purchase, or Reward merit purchase.
  4. Nice Ideon. That's quite appropriate for Hulk. Although he does have a Rage crash; That would be Bruce Banner mode.
  5. Any fool can criticize, condemn, and complain - and most fools do.

  6. As delightful as it would be to have bruising apply to everyone in the cone, sadly this isn't the case. Only the main target gets the bruising.
  7. Search this forum. There are already discussions about SD/WM here. There are also some builds here.

Take a look and see what looks close enough to what you're wanting. Play with the build a little to get it closer to what you want.

Bring that build here to see what responses you get to it.

    Welcome to the tank forums.
  8. Don't have time to redo your build, but a few things stand out to me.

I prefer to focus my set bonuses on s/l first, then e/n. So in Plasma, Fire Shield and Tough I would 4 slot Reactive Armor instead of Aegis. You're already at max resist on Fire, why bother going with the Fire defense bonus? Shore up other areas.

As I mentioned in a recent Fire/Fire tank thread, I'm also not a fan of Stealth. If you read that thread you'll see what I'd done there. Of course you may, or may not want to use some of those things, that's entirely up to you.

Looking at some of your attack slotting, I suspect you might run into endurance issues. Specifically I'm looking at Shadow Maul and Gloom being the biggest culprits.

I'd use less slots in Spring attack and 6 slot burn with Obliteration. (Personally I haven't been able to convince myself Spring Attack is worth taking on any toon, except for concept reason. It seems like Shield Charge "ultra-lite". )

I like the combination of Fiery Aura and Dark Melee. I've got a brute in the early 30s and it's quite fun. At some point I need to create a build for him.
  9. Well. I think Impish is a Forbin sock puppe.... er nvm. I know she's not.

Anyway, have fun quibbling about the colors of tribbles.
  10. There are a few things in your build, that for my preferences, I don't like seeing.

For my fire tanks I generally shoot for Typed Defense bonuses vs. Positional Defense bonuses. Most Typed bonuses can be found using 3-4 slots, where as most Positional bonuses are found by using 5-6 slots. Going for Typed gives me more flexibility.

Stealth, on a tank, while having it's uses will only provide 1/2 it's strength in defense once you've started fighting. If I want to "stealth a mission", that's what a +stealth IO in sprint could provide. Because I can grab the IO, for me Stealth is a waste of endurance. Maneuvers, which I don't recommend either, would at least give you better defenses in combat.

I'm aware that there's min.- maxing and there is "MIN.- MAXING", but for me 6 slotting LotG in Weave doesn't make sense. 4 slots give you 7.83 defense, while 6 slots give you 8.0 defense. Two more slots for a measly .17%? Those slots can be spent better in other places.

I'm also not a fan of Focused Accuracy. I think it's an endurance hog for what it provides. I prefer to drop a Kismet +6% to-hit IO into CJ.

Anyway, here's a different view on a Fire/Fire tank. This is by no means a perfect build, but this would be closer to my preferences. I threw the one very expensive PvP IO in there, but I generally don't use them in my builds. That slot would normally go in CJ for the Kismet +6%. I didn't shoot to get to the soft cap on anything, but I focused on getting within one small purple of the soft cap for s/l/e/n. This toon also has Barrier Destiny, which also adds 5% to the defense when it's at it's weakest.

Take a look and see if you like anything here, or even if you hate what I've done. If nothing else I hope it gives you some ideas from a different perspective.

  11. FPBNMT (first post behind Nuclear Medicine today)?

    Nevermind....
  12. My interpretation of Dink's "announcement" was this: She finished what they had scheduled for her to work on early then planned, and they weren't ready for her to start on her next project yet. So, in the meantime she worked on a highly requested side project because she had time to do so.

I appreciate the time spent importing the items onto the female model. It goes to show that there's still some opportunity for items to be changed in the sets we've already purchased.

Thanks for the great work Dink. Welcome to the forums. Make sure you bring your hip waders.

Translation: The best think I can say is to try and make a build where you soft cap your S/L and E/N defenses to 45. (Editors note: I prefer the soft cap numbers to be pre EA usage, but MA's defense boost from it's tier one attack gives you some leeway.) Post your build here and we can help you with it.
  14. If you search through my previous posts you'll find it. The toon's name is Interruption. There are two builds out there.
  15. Properly set with an IO build, Dark Tanks can be made into one of the toughest tanks, with no endurance issues. My current Dark/Dark tank rarely uses Dark Consumption for endurance recovery. She's sitting with 3.95 end/second recovery vs. 1.50 end/sec usage running 10 toggles. Defenses sit at 42.31% s/l and 32% e/n. Eventually this version will be soft capped to s/l.
  16. Uhm... someone needs to fix the calendar on the TankerTuesday website. It's showing the Champion and Justice dates linked to the 7th and 14th of each month, instead of the first and second Tuesdays of each month.

I'm not sure if you saw in my original post; I'd originally suspected Invincibility to be the culprit. As you saw, testing proved otherwise.
  19. AOE's probably contribute to your to-hit "issue". If I recall correctly, in my original testing I made sure I turned off all taunt/dmg auras and focused on using attacks that wouldn't "dmg" the other RWZ target dummies. This was to eliminate PBAoEs, AoEs and wide cones from the testing.
  20. Can someone please Delete Aett's post. One mustn't deride the one true "mod"!

    Er... nvm.
  21. Third builds were added in i19. If I recall correctly, the third one unlocks when you unlock your alpha slot.

To add from the paragonwiki: http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Multiple_Builds
  22. Hey now. If we're going to wander off topic in a Nuclear Medicine thread, we should at least discuss the merits of seeing Radiation Armor and Radiation Melee to the game. Especially since he's been (unsuccessfully) championing for their inclusion in the game from nearly the beginnings of City of Heroes.
  23. Well. They locked the "deleted" thread because it wandered horribly off topic... since the topic here is the deleted thread, how can our discussion of the deleted thread be locked if we continue to stay on topic?
  24. I could see something like this incorporated into more Epic Power pools giving greater options then currently exist. (I would think it would make it easier to balance then straight pool powers.) But hey, the more options the merrier we'll all be.
