My own personal take - and this really is just me - I absolutely LOATH all limited-opportunity items within games. Now, potentially that's opening a can of worms (I can already see people lining up to say "Well, that's the way life is" and so on) but my take on the matter goes something like this:
[/ QUOTE ]
On the plus side, there is no advantages to having the event badges and Isolator other than the fact you can choose the badge name as a title. The devs have said that badges that you absolutely cannot get at any time will never be required for accolades.
And as far as the events go - I like the fact that they let you get cold warrior again - I hope that they continue to have yearly events with unique badges, plus one to tie all the instances of that season's event together. -

Zone Giant Monsters are getting the buff. GM's that are mission-specified (like the ambush ones, or the Eden trial, etc) are not being touched. Those GMs are "arch-villain" level, i.e. made to be beaten by 1 team.
Zone Giant Monsters are the GM's that appear randomly (or triggered) in zones. This does not include the ambushes that are triggered from missions.
This change will be both CoH and CoV.
[/ QUOTE ]
Does Hamidon count as a Zone Giant Monster? Sounds like he does.
Man, I really don't want to face an even tougher Hamidon. These raids already last long enough post-ED.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hamidon is a... um... "Hamidon"-class entity. He's not a Giant Monster as defined by Giant Monsters. The Mitos are Arch-villain class, not GMs.
[/ QUOTE ]
Are the mitos not Hamidon class also? They do not say AV or Monster, They also say Hamidon
[/ QUOTE ]
Do you mean under the name where it lists their "gang", or where it lists minion/LT/boss?
I do know that Mitos are AV class from the change to mission AVs to AVs/EBs thing - it doesn't affect SF/TF or worldmap AVs. Mitos were given as teh only worldmap av spawn. -

[Given the nerfing that was given to Regen with IH and MoG along with Phase Shift and Kheldian's Quantum Flight, these were certainly PvP nerfs. I fully expect you to nerf hurricane which is needed. Also fix the toggle droppers. Hurricane and things like that should be made Clickies like IH was with long recharge times(to be fair). I'd leave Stalker's Hide alone though. They are pretty weak without Hide and since you can buy IR goggles in a zone if your side is doing well along with all the leadership powers tossed on, this should be adequate.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ummm ...
Hurricane's not an "Oh crap!" power like most of the ones you listed. It's a debuff -- a standard part of the defense a stormie gives her team.
If you go through the big toggle dropping powers defenders have, most of 'em are KB and repel powers, which as many people have pointed out, are largely resisted by the folks they're supposed to be used on. The toggle drop aspect was added to these powers because they're supposed to be bad news to melee-based mobs and toons. If the KB and repel aspects are entirely nullified, then these powers won't be functioning as intended.
But thank you for nerf-herding ... while trying to prop up your own hobbyhorse
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't forget though, some people, from Issue four onwards, automatically attribute most nerfs to PVP. -

I know how MY Super Reflexes scrapper deals with it.
Practiced Brawler.
Works GREAT. Stand right next to the 'Caner and open up the can o' whupass.
As I recall Energy Aura has Entropy Field, which can be used to dispel status effects. I think KB/KD is included in the list.
Not having played DA or Regen, I can't say what one would use. But I'm pretty sure Regen has an anti-status click effect.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think intergration (regen) has knockback. Other than jumping in to "joust", DA's only recourse is either going for acroatics, or hoping our defense is high enough. We are the fire armor set for scrappers -

If they nerfed Huricane, it would a direct response to something from PvP, which they've said previously that they won't do.

Actually, the original quote was something along the lines or "we'll try not to."
Melee and Range are differentiated in terms of damage, and attack type, but the statements above that there is no 'melee range' is accurate.

Okay, you're wrong on something. None of those things were PVP nerfs. (Well, QF might have been, I don't know anything about that power)
IH and MoG were nerfed because regen scrappers were SOLOING +3 MONSTERS.
Phase shift was nerfed because it was being used for herding.
Both were done for PvE reasons. The devs said it, and the vast majority of player comments -I- saw agreed with the reasoning behind it. (although there was still much debate on whether it was nessecary or not) As for nerfing Hurricane, I don't see any real PVE reason for it. Storm Defenders have their share of challenges as it is. PVP-wise, it's like someone said. There are ways to get around it, you just have to be creative about it.
[/ QUOTE ]
QF = Quantam Flight - Peacebringer power that is flight + phase shift. So, all reasons apllying to Phaseshift apply to QF. IIRC, they made it so the time, when it runs out, doesn't drop the power (since there is flight) but instead causes QF to have an increasing end cost. -

Hurricane by itself isn't an "I Win" power by ANY stretch of the imagination. You just have to use your imagination to come up with ways your character can overcome it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Please dwell on this more. How would say a */Regen, */DA, or a */SR scrapper be able to overcome it?
I know Blasters can, if they try. What about Stalkers? All but Energy Armor will have a hard to to overcome this problem.

As a toggle, there are various powers that would stop it. As a clickie, none, really. And one biiiig difference between IH and Hurricane. There are plenty of buffs/armors/etc, that are either clicks, or toggles. There are NO PBAoEs with a duration. Hurricane does generate agro, and is not a drop. Changing it to a clickie would make it unique, and I don't think in a good way. And I don't have /storm/ and I am saying this. -

[ QUOTE ]
No, Flame is right, though his response was a bit antagonistic. When a dev says that there are technical problems, that's probably the best answer he could give.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not really - he doesn't have to explain why - just that it is that way. For example, when they rolled out ED, they realized they made End Drain and End Recovery enahncements work exactly the same - so they changed them to End Modification. And told us why - that the two types in one power stacked with each other. This mostly shows up in things like Transference.
Another example is when they pulled the ability to enhance Damage resitance via enhancements (and defense too, for ninjas to balance it out) from Mastermind pets because, just like the two types of endurnce modifcation enhancements, damage and damage resistance worked off the same variables. They just didn't notice how they interacted until the little pop-up showing what is getting enhanced came along, and had a lot of people with pets. Which is the ONLY type of power that would have both damage and damage resitance.
neither time did they explain why, just that it is that way, and they really couldn't change the way it works (without redoing the engine itself) so this is how they are fixing it. -

Sometimes they have and sometimes they haven't. The decision is up to the devs. Since Positron often gives complex and detailed answers, he probably had a reason for not going into more depth this time.
[/ QUOTE ]
Perhaps you're correct. They have been fairly liberal with answers in the past, so it's possible there is a matter they can't reveal. Of course, Positron is also the type to jump in when he can and offer a quick answer (which is greatly appreciated, no doubt), so it's also possible he just didn't have the time. Regardless, I think Silas_Tzin is correct in that the more information we get, the more accepting people will be of the answer. Not only that, but it might help the playerbase to come up with some ideas that the devs haven't considers.
My main point for replying though is that no one is going to the extremes that FlameBlade is suggesting.

I don't ever recall Posi giving an in-depth answer on weekends.. which is when he posted that. He was jut being nice to us. -

Either, they need someone neutral, story wise, or recode the trainers to know the difference between hero and villain.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah exactly. If they are coded different now then beta then throw in 2 trainers, one for each side. We know they have the code to recognize if a person is hero or villain cause we already have the separate contacts and stores that do this. And we have DJ Zero who doesn't care if you are hero or villain. Looks like the code is in place to be hero specific, villain specific, or neither.
[/ QUOTE ]
But do we? Can't use the Pocket D contacts as an example - they basically require the "Heart of " badge - light for heroes, darkness for villains.
And the ones in the PVP zones are introduced contacts, basically. And none of the villain contacts intorduce Hero PVP contacts, and vice versa. -

On a whim I suggested that I would lacky her so she could help out... We weren't sure if the option would work, so I right clicked on her and lo and behold there was the option to Invite her to be my Lackey...
So I invite and she accepts and bam! she's now my lackey. It was at that point I felt the need to point out...
"Im now offically tutoring you in the ways of EVIL"
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, if it worked the way it did for my hero, she wasn't your lackey - the text would say sidekick
When I invited a villian to SK - It said in the text:
"You invite <name> to be your lackey.>
"<name> is now your lackey." -

I'm hoping we can keep any badges we've already earned, since they're part of the history of the character. I'd even go further and say I hope we keep the original badge we earned. Just because a character falls or is redeemed, it doesn't change the heroic or villainous acts they did in the past. I don't think switching from hero to villain or vice versa should be a frequent occurance, though.
[/ QUOTE ]
The thing is several badges are titles bestowed on you by other people - Synapse's Cohort, Freedom Phlanax Reserve, etc. These ones have an alternated title (like Snyapse's Betrayer, etc.).
You really don't loose any badges - they just get new names if they change at all.
