Anyone else but me going Dark Melee/Ninjitsu? Already did DA once and I am definately not looking forward to that again. Sorry Kali, I just don't see it being a great stalker set. Maybe Shadow Dweller can save it but it is lacking that final tier panic button.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I believe I have pointed out the lack of an actual panic button as a big flaw when compared to other melee defense sets over and over again on the scrapper forum. I would be very happy if the devs were to reassess the set and replace soul transfer with something like Warshade Eclipse.

    [/ QUOTE ]

NOOOOOOO! I like my my rez!

And with all the status effects that DM/A has, I am fine with it.

Dark melees Shadow Maul will be the cause of 90% of stalker deaths in game. horribly long time for pretty much a squishy to stand still.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I doubt it.

I had the Sands of Mu on my blaster and used it as often as I could, often against three targets at a time. The animation time never caused defeat.

And stalkers squishy? Uh huh. While they don't have scrapper hit points, they have scrapper defenses and status protection. I think you need to not have those to be an honest squishy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have died a coulple of times because it goes off before I can hit my heal if i get a sudden slam, and by the time it's over - I am dead. But hey, that is what self rez is for.

    3. Blazing Aura at level 1 as an offensive pbaoe taunting aura (correct me if I'm wrong about gauntlet working with blazing aura)

    [/ QUOTE ]

It should - it is an attack. And even if it doesn't, it stil generates AoE agro because it is a damage-dealing attack.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
It sounds like DA will be the 'scrappiest' defense set for Stalkers, with CoF and OG available to toggle on to help mitigate incoming damage, though the self damage aspect of OG will be brutal on a Stalker, with such a low base Health. So someone could make a Claws/DA Stalker and almost feel like a Scrapper, with the damage over time nature and lower End usage of Claws.

I'm very curious what Shadow Dweller is and if it'll have Immobilize protection, which DA lacks.

    [/ QUOTE ]

DA has immobilization protection - unless that is was CoD gives. Knockback is the big hole for DA.

I'm annoyed that dark regen is so late in the tree, but it is a pretty awesome power.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But really, that is a Dark Amor in general complaint, not a stalker one.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
Wait... so soul transfer is "counter productive" yet CoF and OG remain? I'm confused.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because you can use build up to buff yourself before doing an assassin strike yet remain hidden - Soul Drain (not Transfer - that is the rez) needs to hit, thus is an attack that takes you out of hide, to buff you.

You would turn on OG and CoF AFTER doing your opening. And doesn't stun give you crits?

Anyone coming from WoW to CoX will surely agree that mods are a fantastic addition to the game.

You people who think otherwise need to realize that there is a big difference between 'mods' and 'hacks'.

A mod, something that improves your play without changing game mechanics, is a -good- thing. An in-game clock, for example. Or a more extensive friends list. WoW has literally hundreds of these, and they're fantastic.

Hacks are something totally different, and I think that's what most of you "Negative" people are trying to argue against. Make the distiction between the two, and I don't see how you can see Mods as a negative thing...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Mods don't have to be hacks, but they can be. Cryptic doesn't want to, or really have, the time/resources to check out mods before okaying them - and they definatly don't have the time to deal with debuging them.

I remember some mods EQ had - most didn't work because they never got UPDATED along with the game.

But, better to start at "too weak" and buff as needed, rather than "too strong" and nerf it, right?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Bingo.

Making the buffs be Inspiration or Click-power like is just ASKING for abuse. Besides, that's the type of stuff the Invention System should deal with.

Empowerment stations are instant buffs. You are bathed in radiation/magic/etc. on the spot and get a bonus to your travel speed/lethal resistance/attack speed/endurance recovery/knockback protection/whatever you need at the time, right then and there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Empowerment != Inventions

    that explains a lot.

Temp powers still to come, any timeframe ?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Considering they said inventions would use the Unis for crafting for individuals, not (just) the bases...
  9. lets wait to cry doom until three days after I7 hits test.

But the buffs could also be things inspirations don't cover. Such as speed, vert movement, or RECHARGE. Or KB protection (I hope!)

And they would also stack. I would, however, like it if you could have the 15-min, or a two minute clicky with an hour waittime.
  10. And don't forget the long-time players without isolator on their mains because it didn't exist that don't want it to be made available because it cheapens it for the characters that do have it.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
Did this customer deserve the pliers? Sure, but does he deserve them for the lower price because he found them in a 99 cent bin? No, why because he may have said they were there to try and get away with a 99 cent deal or some kid placed them there by mistake, as long as the price was on the pliers then the customer was wrong.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    It depends...

If the pliers were the only pair in there, then no the customer shouldn't get the lesser price.

But if the pliers got stocked there (more than one set), then yes they do get the price, within reason.

The first is someone being lazy and dropping it off somewhere (you, of course, never ever go by the philosphy that the customers are trying to cheat you ).

The second is a store employee making a mistake, then the store gets to pay for it. Where I work we have a five dollar rule - any discrepencies over 5 bucks goes to a manager. Something like the pliers... we probably would of offered the guy 5 bucks off. But not 19.
  12. The bigger damage resist inspirations help without needing to pop several.

auto logout: I think also players explained that being auto logged out while in missions would be bad esp. while solo - you'd have to start the mission over - and that's why you don't get auto logged out while in a mission.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And disabling it when in a TF anywere, as at the time TFs didn't auto-exemp, so if you or your lower level buddy left while you were exemplar'd, you got permakicked from the TF for being too high level.

    Monkey wrench!

So how do we know which "player suggestions" weren't just really "Dev ideas" that took awhile to implement?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, I wouldn't count the mention of Capes in I2 as a player suggestion. The devs wanted capes in at release, but were unwilling to do them simple/static.

    Accolade powers

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
I would assume rough parity with the hero accolades. Different requirements, but the same basic reward. There probably won't be a Conspiracy Theorist badge, but maybe a similar accolade which gives a different silly useless temp power, and so on.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    1. Accolades are not Temp powers. There's no limit on how long or how many times you can use an accolade power.

    2. I like to use it on AVs after hitting the Vangaurd medal. Of course I just got my Crey Pistol yesterday.

Today I found out there's a 7th Accolade power from doing the Katie TF and all the other stuff in that zone. Whoever runs the web site coh.warcry.com really needs to update their site. They didn't have that accolade listed and the arenas are still listed on the site as Construction sights. lol Need to make a cov.warcry.com allso.

The Isolator badge is a "defeat #" badge! It is NOT a special event badge and in no way compares to Celebrant, or the Winter, Halloween, or Valentine's Day Event badges, because it's a totally different type of badge!

    [/ QUOTE ]

um, all of the holloween and Winter badges from the first year were defeat badges. So they are the EXACT same type of badge as Isolator.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ok lets get technical since you seem to be doing so.

Yes, they are all kill (x) badges. So in a way it is in the same .

But it is not the same because Isolator is not a Event badge as the others are such as the Winter, Halloween and the celebrant badge.

These badges were for a limited time. Isolator is still currently in the game. The special event badges are not. So in fact they are not exactly the same. Only way they are similar is because of the kill (x) attached to them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But outbreak is a limited time thing - just like the events. Once your past outbreak, your are past it. Even if other people can still enter it, they cannot re-enter it.
  17. [ QUOTE ]

Say your cell company starts a new promotion with your plan. But to get it you need to ask for it. It'll give you 100 extra minutes of usage a month.

Now you've had your plan for 6 months. So they tell you you can't get it because you didn't ask for the bonus when you got the plan (when it didn't exist.) How idiotic would that be? You wouldn't get upset and feel cheated?

Your argument doesn't hold water and make sense anymore than my scenario would. You can't tell us we should only get it for having beat 100 outbreak mobs when at the time there was NO POINT in it.

You wouldn't ask for that bonus on your plan because at the time it didn't exist and there'd have been no point to ask for it.

The point we're trying to make is that had it been available at the time, we'd have it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Here is the thing, Ball. If you sign a contract for a plan, and later they offer that same plan with bonus time if you do ten jumping jacks in the store, the contract WILL be different. Because they don't just give free minutes - they will have you sign saying you know what the terms of those minutes are. And even if they were willing to do it if you did ten jumping jacks in the store when you signed the contract, why would you of done 1, let alone ten, jumping jacks inside the cell store.

The ONLY time I have ever heard of a cellphone company letting people pick up a deal that didn't exist when they signed on before their contracted time is up is with Cingular - and that is for the AT&T customers that were not informed that their provider might be sold to someone else, thus trapping them with a proprietary phone that cannot be used with the "new" providers networks.

That is what happend to me and my family - and we got hit by it when needing new phones, because for a while Cingular, while not charging the early termination fee on AT&T accounts switching to Cingular, were not going to give the new customer/contract deal. Eventually they had enough outrage (they c/wouldn't even sell phones that were enabled to work on the AT&T plans) because that ment totally new contracts with high-priced phones, or going on ebay or some such to find a phone.

But Cryptic isn't a cell phone company with proprietary networks/phones, and it certainly hasn't been bought out by anyone.

Most adults make descisions on a case by case basis. Saying yes in one instance doesnt make it any harder to say no in another in the real world.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And people on the internet always act in a mature, adult fashion, even if they are of an age to be considered an adult?

Why do the devs no longer give us even approximate timelines of things not yet set in stone for release? Becuase they did once, and got tired of people whining when something happend to delay release.

Pax, when you quit ranting and can give me a LEGIT reason why my pre-i2 toons are being discrimnated against I'll start paying attention to your posts.

They are not being discriminated against. They are being treated the same as every other Pre-I2 avatar.

That one can not! When Issue 2 and the entire badge system was introduced the devs really should have awarded Isolator to ALL characters created between Issue 1 and 2, because as the badge says, we all "began our career on a high note."

    [/ QUOTE ]

That I'd sign off on. Not going back and getting it, but being awarded it retroactively. God knows even my non-badge toons get it simply because if I ever change my mind I couldn't go back to get it.

That being said you know damned well I'd have gotten it on my pre-badge era toons for that same reason ESPECIALLY since most of those ARE badge hunters.

It should be retroactively awarded to toons who were built BEFORE badges were released. I can't imagine pulling THAT data would be hard. Not like data-mining specific mob kills etc. All they'd need is to locate the toons made before I2.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And so you know how their data archives work?

Its nice to know that we will have a future way of getting this badge.

Actually, he paid for the privledge, as did anyone that preordered.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Technically, you didn't pay for the pre-order. If you put down, say, 15 bucks at EB games, then you got the Pre-Order box. However, you also had 15 bucks deducted from the cost of the game at the time of purchase. So, your still paying the exact same amount of money you would have if you DIDN'T get the pre-order box, you just give them some of the money as a guarantee that you will actually be coming back to buy the product later.

    [/ QUOTE ]

When money changes hands its called "paying". He or she plunked down his money early to have the privledge of playing early.

Now I've never pre-ordered, so if he doesnt buy the game when it ships, does he get that pre-order fee back? My guess would be no, because he's actually paying to have a guaranteed copy waiting for him at the store. There's no guarantee he'll buy it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But teh context seemed like he was saying people payed EXTRA to play early - not payed early to play early.

As far as I know - the devs have no plans for including an alternate method to get isolator if you did not get it in outbreak.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    It's not that I didn't, it's that I couldn't... it didn't exist

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thus, you didn't. The why you didn't is it didn't exist.
