Please tell us you will crash the ingame redname-thrown-parties from time to time!
We will miss you - it has been a great community, and you definatly helped to set the tone. -

were pethetic prestige earners.... I just threw away 140k prestige easy...

... You are a sad person.
As long as they were active, why kick them?
You realize that somepeople collect badges, right, and there happen to be some for influence? -

[ QUOTE ]
it's not 'needed', what it is is not broken. complaints about it are absurd. a tank running close enough to the margin that 5% DEF either way makes a difference has much bigger problems.
[ QUOTE ]
And that is what a QA department is for
[/ QUOTE ]
QA catches major bugs. Not piddling decimal errors.
[/ QUOTE ]
So the intital 50% debuff was just a piddling decimal error and beneath their notice? Yeah, it's not like it majorly impacted gameplay or anything...
[/ QUOTE ]99.9% of all decimal errors are piddling, with a magnification magnigtude of 10, ocassionaly 16 -
[ QUOTE ]
Age of a QA dept shouldn't be an excuse.
Poor employment choices would be the only excuse.
And neither is really an acceptable excuse.
BTW, I'm the one who found the Invincibility bug, so believe me I don't have high expectations of their QA, but either they're doing they're job and keep it, or they're not and get let go and replaced. That is how you run a business.
[/ QUOTE ]
You realize that pretty much anything that makes a decision over at Cryptic is human right?
And that they are not held to Telecommunication market standards because they are not part of the information relay to emergency sytems, right?
That nobody will actually die, read-their-obituary-in-the-next-day's-paper die, if there is a bug in the CoX Code?
With a possible exception to the as yet unreleased "Shocks through the keyboard"(TM) feature comming soon -
[ QUOTE ]
That reason for the debuff is stupid, but i think is actually the reason it got introduced.
[/ QUOTE ]
You mean the whole "It was -Def if we remove the root"? yeah, that was the reason.
Kinda sad - made it to where you had more than just stone armor being tele-tankers. -
[ QUOTE ]
WL levelling put every other powerleveling trick or tactic to shame. You can't even put it into the same country as old Dreck farming or classic bridging. There's been two or three xp-earning restrictions put into place due solely because of the WL event, making it a situation that could never be recreated, barring a bug.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wasn't one of them that you can't level twice off the same kill?
Er, ahem, "defeat". -

I believe it stems from fantasy MMORPGs (or MUDs even) when a player's weapon would be reduced in effectiveness in an effort to balance the game.
It comes from the phrase "You turned my sword into a nerf bat".
Thus "nerfing" something became synonymous with making something weaker.
"Hit with the nerf bat" is a derivitive, but still sees its origin in the original 'sword' phrase, and can be applied to systems outside of the normal weapon and loot ones.
Personally, I hate the word, and try never to use it when talking about the game to players. It carries a very negative stigma that I like to avoid whenever possible.
[/ QUOTE ]
I was under the impression that the ARchers in EQ were quite powerful, and they introduced a significant decrease in power, to which someone indicated they felt like they were shooting nerf arrows. I'm sure their are plenty of origin stories for the nerf term, but it is based off of the soft, difficulty to harm others material.
[/ QUOTE ]
When were there archers in EQ?
[/ QUOTE ]
Rangers.
However, I recall hearing the one of the leads had major archer hate - bows really never did much, yet it wasn't until two or so years ago that you could put them on auto attack.
I remember my friend complaining about it alot -

I thought they preferred "small tweak"

Ok after I've calmed myself down a bit, I'm wondering...
Mez resistance or mez protection?

Protection vs. Knockback, Knock Up, Repel, Stun, Sleep, Hold, Immobilize, Confuse and Fear. Pretty much the whole suite.

Typo? 6th paragraph reads:
"A hero corned by a Sapper will find he or she is unable to sustain most powers, and will be easy prey for the SapperÂ’s back-up."
Is this supposed to be "cornered"?
Corn
v. tr.
1. To cause to form hard particles; granulate.
2.
1. To season and preserve with granulated salt.
2. To preserve (beef, for example) in brine.
3. To feed (animals) with corn or grain.
doesn't seem right to me.
[/ QUOTE ]
I understand your confusion, but beleive me, this not a typo.

* Always re-map the Screenshot Key to use the .TGA format for taking in-game screen photos, instead of .JPG (which is selected by default on new characters).
Despite the obvious quality difference using .TGA format over .JPG in the resulting Print, it also offers a quicker succession of rapid-fire screenshots because there is no additional time taken up to 'compress' each photo when the code saves them to the HD.
[/ QUOTE ]
...How?
[/ QUOTE ]
menu-options-keybinding.
In the same area that lists Screenshots (JPEG) is identicle option, but it has (TGA) instead. The latter doesn't have any keys bound to it. -

LOL. No stock options for me. I'm one of the founders here!

After carefully taking apart and micro-analyzing the above quote, I have determined that Jack intends to nerf regen.
That is all for now.
[/ QUOTE ]
You are soooo wrong.
They have realized that they can not get Regen to fit in and still be fun, so it is being removed and shelved. -

*Fires Laser Eyebeams at RedTape* -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
So - here it is.
Added to the patch notes:
The Hamidon has been increased in difficulty. It is now capable of using one of its attack powers even when Held, Slept, or Stunned.
Evidently Hammy got a laser beam on it's head a long time ago but just now figured out how to use it.
The Mitos are AVs and are acting according to this patch note:
AVs/Heroes and Giant Monsters now ignore threat level damage multipliers for different Archetypes. They are still affected by Taunt as before.
As for the drops? Bug.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why is Hamidon so difficult compared to the Recluse Strike Force?
Hamidon:It requires 60+ Heroes to defeat the Hamidon.
Recluse SF: Doesn't require a vastly larger force than the Hamidon, requiring at the most 8 Villains.
Hamidon: Can wipe out an entire raid, respawning every Arch-Villain you just took an hour to kill.
Recluse SF: Doubtful that Statesman can reproduce himself like a blob of Jello can.
Anyway, here's my opinion: don't make Hamidon any harder than it already is. The enhancements were totally wrecked in the Enhancement Diversification patch. If anything, make the Recluse SF harder.
Added: Is the villain SF farmable?
Removed: Time taken to kill Hamidon, since in theory you could just drop a bunch of nukes on him.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nevermind that you HAVE to have 8 to do the SF.
Also, Hami doesn't have 5-then-8 AV class mobs with various powersets, that (from the description) play fairly smart. -

On a related issue...how about celebrity endorsements?
I had fun writing a fanfic story where a superhero, at security level 29, found out that she wasn't quite advanced enough to merit a free plane ticket to somewhere she needed to go. Level 30s merited a coach seat in return for an endorsement, level 40s first-class, and level 50s a privately-chartered Lear jet.
Other members of the RP Congress have written amusing stories about their heroes doing celebrity endorsements in exchange for free merchandise (such as energy bars, and so forth), or even starting their own clothing lines of unmentionables.
And what about the insurance industry? And no, I don't just mean Bob Parr. Do superheroes have to carry collateral damage insurance much as drivers have to carry liability?
[/ QUOTE ]
I can just where that might lead -
"No, I will not put a Pepmi cola patch on my suit, I don't care if they want to give me a million bucks to do so. What's next? Wearing my underwear on the outside so people can see what brand I wear? Charles, your being quiet... NO NO NO, I WILL NOT wear underwear on the outside for "fruit of the zig" underwear." -

You know - you could submit that kind of thing to the submissions box. You never know what might show up in the community pages of the comic or on the website.
[/ QUOTE ]
Doesn't the fact that I'm a UK subscriber on a US server kinda automatically disqualify me from that kinda stuff?
[/ QUOTE ]
Shouldn't - it isn't a contest or anything like that. -
25 or 50 - takes about four Deathsurges to get badge.
As far as I know - the only sort of "badge point value tier" that might exist is totally hand-coded into the indivual mobs. -

[ QUOTE ]
Multiple empowerment stations will stack the buffs that are offered (by design). If we made the buffs as good as players "expect" right out the gate, they'd be WAY too good when stacked.
[/ QUOTE ]
But... why make them stackable in the first place?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, while they could no doubt code them to not stack - it would go against the game's basic structure of "It (almost, see FF or Sonic bubbles for the main exceptions) always stacks". -
[ QUOTE ]
Except in the Magic pool. Positron I have petitioned the stupid rescue 21 magicians mission EVERY SINGLE TIME I FIGHT IT.
The mission description NEVER SAYS DEFEAT ALL. If the mission is DEFEAT ALL IT SHOULD SAY - DEFEAT ALL.
I went thru late one night on my Emp/Elec defender for 3 stupid hours in this mission. I defeated all of the mobs holding the 21 magicians. Guess what? IT WAS DEFEAT ALL.
Missions clues tab is mostly useless. It often does not tell you what to do.
[/ QUOTE ]
He was refering to the clues tab. Not the Mission BREIFing tab. Different things. The former shows what "clues" you have picked up (wanted posters, keys, etc) and is what posi is refering to. -

[ QUOTE ]
If the suit malfunctioned and infused Ray with anti-matter, it wouldn't transform him into an anti-matter being. It would destroy him in a nuclear fireball.
[/ QUOTE ]
You sure about that? Being 'infused with anti-matter' sounds like a classic superhero origin story to me.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, when Matter and antimatter meet, they anniliate (sp) each other.
Cosmic rays, radiation, etc, all are classic things to be infused with - don't recall antimatter. -
[ QUOTE ]
In fact, Positron is really a danger to the continued existence of the world. If the armor ever fails catostrophically, Ray will become what amounts to being the core of an uncontrolled fusion reactor. The world, maybe even the universe itself could potentially be reduced to just so much background radiation and sub-nuclear particles.
[/ QUOTE ]
Which is what makes the comment "Positron can't take a leak without destorying a city block" all the more humorous.
They need to have an NPC say that in game. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Hey Positron, now that you're around and all, got one more question. The book implies that Ray doesn't have any superpowers and the suit does everything. The game and comics imply that he has powers that are presumably being focused by the suit (and later contained). Am I missing something?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes. His suit was damaged during the Rikti war, infusing him with antimatter. Now he can't take it off for fear of irradiating everyone around him.
[/ QUOTE ]
Except, he is talking about the fact the the game said the suit, initially, FOCUSED his power - it wasn't until the rikti war that it was the only thing containing him. -
[ QUOTE ]
Indeed, the color settings of these powers are by far the worst aspect.
When are we going to get to change our powers' colors anyway; it should be no more difficult than costume color changes?
[/ QUOTE ]
Not really - costumes are simply skins. Power effects are more complicated.
And also the game setup was meant to make costumes easily customizable - there isn't that background for powereffects. -

[ QUOTE ]
Oh, forgot! Is there any real gain from slotting Static Shield (mez protect one) for +Resistance?
[/ QUOTE ]
Doesn't that shield have Psi resistance? I figured that's what you were buffing with Damage Resist enhancements.
And yeah, I was pretty annoyed that Grounded did not have the immob/knockback resist in it for this Test event.
[/ QUOTE ]
Most people I know don't bother slotting darks Psi shield until the upper levels - but psi seems more common in the lower levels CoV-wise.
