Certain self heal powers are tagged to not allow outside healing buffs. Reconstruction is such a power.
General Rule:
If your heal also grants resistance to toxic, it won't benefit from +Heal buffs.
[/ QUOTE ]
To further clarify: These powers are set to ignore all outside strength buffs/debuffs (IgnoreStrength = True), and only pay attention to the strength buffs from enhancements slotted in these powers. If they were not set to ignore strength buffs, all damage buffs on the caster would boost the damage resistance of the power.
The best solution to this is to disallow damage resistance slotting in these powers (while keeping the damage resistance Effect and marking just that Effect as disallowing all strength buffs (AllowStrength = False), which includes enhancements and outside buffs), and then setting the entire power to not ignore outside strength buffs/debuffs (IgnoreStrength = False).
I asked Castle about this a while back, and he said "Yeah, I know about that issue. Getting it changed isn't exactly easy, though (despite it being a 1 cel change!)" So, I guess if we complain about it loud enough, the higher-ups will take notice and allow Castle to make this simple and logical change.
[/ QUOTE ]
So, if I'm understanding this correctly, it means Reconstruction is immune to heal debuffs, like Poison/Weaken?
[/ QUOTE ]
Correct.
Debuffs and buffs of any kind are identical in how they are applied, the difference purely being a case of it being a negative or positive value. -

This is very useful to know, but rather ... obscure. Is there any way a non-forumer could tell this by-design feature from a bug? If not, then something should be done in the future, because this question will be asked again.
[/ QUOTE ]Then again, until now, how many buffs to healing could most people with a self-only heal get? And MMs are the only ones I can think of that have a heal-other, but they don't get power boost (or whatever the "secondary" effect boost power is.)
EDIT : Although, could we at least have a note added to those powers stating such? In the long-help?

An elegant synopsis. I think I'm going to have to go find this article. However, I doubt Jack will be reading this, which is a shame.

I couldn't help noticing, also, that you qualified your statement with a reference to a specific Issue. Does this mean you're considering an increase with future issues?
[/ QUOTE ]
They don't like to rule things out.
Also, they had said previously that they want to make sure that they had "endgame" before raising the cap.
I don't ever recall them saying they are not raising the cap in the context of "never never never ever". -

Then BOOM! Mish ended, and I got a recipe for Tech Wings, followed by a Fear/End IO recipe.
[/ QUOTE ]
Whoa. Whoa, whoa, whoa.
The Tech Wings are in the Task Force pool? Significant info!
[/ QUOTE ]
My guess is either they got them off Lord Recluse - or they are i multiple pools. -

I don't really understand the advancement table. What are the four columns representing?
[/ QUOTE ]There are four enhancement schedules.
Schedule A SOs give 33% enhancement - this is the second column. These enhancements are things like ACC and Damage.
Schedule B SO give 20% - this is the first column. Defense, resistance, etc.
The other two are pretty rare - IIRC, the 40% is Schedule D (third column) and Knockback is the only thing I can think of that uses it.
Don't recall any Schedule Cs off the top of my head. -

I see more problems with the new creation of Hami then our gaming community currently deals with now.
[/ QUOTE ]
You know, if you guys are determined to MAKE UP things to complain about, you can do a lot better than this.
How about "Whenever I9 Hamidon kills you, the game automatically formats your hard drive"? I mean, that packs in WAYYYY more doom than "I haven't fought I9 Hamidon or talked to anyone who has, but it's impossible with 50 people".

Folks this Hamidon raid is MORE open to griefing.
How?
I take my group of Uber players into Hamidon and we set up camp there. We defeat Hamidon and STAY there. 50 man cap and no instancing means grief city.
If I refuse to leave even tho' I get no reward I effectively grief others.
As far as no holding making it more fun - how's that Sewer Trial doing now? Yes, no one does it. I am not encouraged by the description of this encounter.
[/ QUOTE ]
If ya'll want to hold the Hive open with 45 people and no Hammi, we can send 5 more people into your instance and the game will automatically spawn a new instance with Hammi.
Are ya'll making up ways to grief this?
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, IIRC, if it is following tradition form, probably at about 40 a new hive will open. -

[/ QUOTE ]
When you take your 50 dudes in there, a new + empty The Hive 2 will open up, just like when any in-game zone gets overfull. That's what I'm understanding here, anyway.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah.
Every zone in city of heroes is instanced.
I remember Atlas park 1-7 being full.
When they said the Hive and the Abyss would not be instanced, they were referring to it not being instanced like a mission is - just for a group (or group of groups ala CoP.) -

I also believe that Hami would need a nerf so thatthe goal of defeating him with 50-75 people is obtainable. *remembers the Old version of Super Arachnoids that had a high regen rate, great one shot potential to even Boss pets and slaughtered MM's, Brutes and Corruptors solo*
[/ QUOTE ]
Based on info that was leaked in the I9 discussion forum, I think there must be some specific thing that needs to be done to defeat Hami. Bum-rushing him, even once all the mitos are gone and done with, just isn't going to work if what we saw is correct. In his I9 incarnation as revealed, I don't think 200 people pounding on him with zero "zone lag" could defeat him without some sort of intercession.
(No, I'm not going into more detail, as the post in question resulted in a temporary forum ban for the poster.)

City of Heroes / City of Villains: Redesigning the “Hamidon”
By Christopher Bruce, Cryptic Developer
[/ QUOTE ]
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, I actually found it a little annoying that one of the Devs knows so little about the game (even if he were trying to use "elder god" in a figurative sense) that he referred to defeating Hammi as sending it (him) back to the dimension from which he came.
Duh, read through a story arc of the game you code for once in a while.
It just looks bad to me. Cryptic's own developers (at least this one) know very little about the background of something that they are writing an article on... one that said dev knows full well is going to get published online and read by actual players.
I mean, come on, spend the 1-2 minutes it'll take to skim through the text of the arc and find the part about Hamidon being a scientist who mutated himself.
[/ QUOTE ]
What if it wasn't a matter of "just" a mutation? What if when he mutated himself, what actually happened was that it opened a gate to the Elder God Hamidon who then uses his body as a way into our world? What if this Elder God consumed the scientist's body in such a way so as to not require the scientist's actual body to reform here, which would explain the lack of such a body each time the Hamidon is defeated, or assuming this, repulsed from this dimension?
It's possible there is more to this than we currently know.
[/ QUOTE ]
I like the theory, but the fact that the scientist's name was Hamidon Pasalima before his transformation is a bit problimatic.
[/ QUOTE ]
We fixed the issue with the article's backstory to match the game's lore.
[/ QUOTE ]
Darn you Lighthouse! You ruined the fun of us theorizing about the "New" Hamidon!

What? You know New Hamidon is going to suck.

About the 50 people per zone/75 members for SG thing...do you honestly know of any supergroups that have upwards of 50 level 45-50 characters that are interested in doing Hami raids? I think it'll be just fine.
[/ QUOTE ]
QFT. All of the groups I'm in (and a number of them are actually full up) only have a few 50's if that.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have a SG with close to that number of fifties.
Scary thing is, I don't think we have even 20 players behind those fifties -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Interesting article. I noticed the 50 player cap too. I never raided Hamidon before, how many people could you get in there before?
[/ QUOTE ]
I think the Hive instances at about 200, give or take 20-30.
This Hamidon looks to be interesting to fight. It'll be good to shake up the good old "clear mitos, hold Hamidon, kill Hamidon" strategy. It's served us well, now it's time to move on.
Wait a second, I just spotted a flaw in the set up.
Max members in an SG: 75
Max amount of characters in the Hive/Abyss: 50
So... Does an SG make a Hive 2 and do a 32/33 man raid in each?
Fun idea: The Hami-race. Spawn two or more Hives/Abysses and see who finishes first. You only need 50+N characters to create N instances. (Leave one character in Hive 1, 50 goes to Hive 2, spawns Hive 3 and so on.)
[/ QUOTE ]
No - because if the first hive isn't near the population cap, then a third one won't spawn.
I have seen before where instances 1 & 2 of three were open, and the third was full and closed. -
[ QUOTE ]
, I doubt this will do enough to prevent Hami from disappearing.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't know. It's a hard-coded limit, IIRC, for the number of drawn objects. And I know it didn't take much moving around for me to regain hamidon if it was dropped from my drawn object - just moved my screen so a few less players showed up. -

And here I was going to post how I'm a little, okay, really dissapointed that the 'new' design sounds to be 'more-of-the-same' but 'easier'. Maybe it's just how I read the article though. *shrug*

[ QUOTE ]
I currently play 2 /dark villians. On a few occasions when fighting in a mission, I'd pick up an ally upon reaching a certain point who would then assist in fighting mobs and/or clearing the mission. And this is while shadowfall is running, so clearly there is some type of +perception involved.
[/ QUOTE ]
Okay, recap :
At game release : All escort NPCs , hapless/helpless or pet/lt/boss/elite - Able to see past stealth just fine.
At/around i5 - "I can't see you in stealth" coded added to ALL escort NPCs.
Shortly thereafter - Due to various complaints, including the fact that some of the "allied" npc escorts would agro on things on the other side of the map, etc, while your stealth/defense was down (my experience, because I play a dark armor scrapper), and the fact that ambushes on such missions were larger anyway, fighting NPCs were coded as an exception to the NPCs-can-see-past-stealth. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Along this line... What can you tell us about the various +Stealth IOs from the Travel Sets?
Specifically, can they be slotted in passive powers? If so, how is this going to interact with NPC hostages and such that won't interact with a stealthed character?
[/ QUOTE ]
Currently:
<ul type="square">[*]They can be slotted into passive movement powers.[*]You can have one of each type on your character for some massive bonuses.[*]Escort NPCs will not follow you if these are slotted on your characters.[/list]
Now, before the uproar starts, I have to say that unless we find a satisfactory solution for the last item on the list, these IO's have a high probability of being cut before reaching the live servers. Even if that problem is solved, it is still unlikely that you will be able to slot all 4 versions in a single character -- either that, or the stealth aspect will be reduced greatly.
[/ QUOTE ]
You could make an inherient toggle power that surpresses stealth. Call it "Reveal" or something. Give it a really small duration that lasts just barely as long as the toggle tick duration and make it recharge instantly, and you could have lots of fun with the power.
[/ QUOTE ]
This sounds good.
It would also let people with stealthy defense powers (such as Dark Armor's Cloak of Darkness, stalkers who slot hide for defense, Shadowfall, etc) go about and not have to worry about turning of some of their defense just to finish the mission.
I don't see /invul/ or Stone armors having to lower their defense to finish a escort mission. -
[ QUOTE ]
Just a little confused here. Is he saying that is one slots an IO that has res to taunt of placate it will work 100% of the time if said IO is in a passive?
[/ QUOTE ]If there is such, yes. Any special IO - such as the Numia's IO that gives a bonus to recovery - slotted into a passive works 100% of the time.
However, castle was referring to a change specific to MM pet powers, and possibly other pet powers. -
[ QUOTE ]
So we can slot Numina's Convalescence: Regeneration/Recovery into Rest?
Or is this mastermind only?
Sorry, so many ways to read this!
[/ QUOTE ]
I would guess just the mastermind, as he specified it didn't work well with the Mastermind code. -
Because then the fifties can more than the less-than-fifties, or something, I guess.
never mind that if someone of a lower level spot the recipe and bids a high enough bid first, they get it. -
[ QUOTE ]
Keeping prices artificially depressed doesn't "level the playing field" between the 50s and everyone else. It just magnifies the already considerable advantage the 50s have in buying power even further.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, it does. So what, fifties can buy more than the lowbies. That is like complaining Bill gates can afford a house easier than you.
At least more people have a chance of affording something for 10k than 100k or 1 million. -
Also being in a team with an AV should get you a low-level so.

Actually, I'm not clear on whether or not, if you set it at 1 inf and I'm willing to pay 5 mil, if you get just the 1 you asked for or the 5 mil I offered.
