  1. Would this be an opt-in filter?

As it stands, it would be easy to add to the existing filter - but it is an opt-in (out, rather). So they would either have to have it useless against those of us that opt-out, or it would be either a) a new opt-out, or b) a new required filter - which in turn would require more coding.

If it fell on it's face, why was it brought back "by popular demand"?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The only "popular demand" is from the forum bootlickers who are more into comic books than games. In the actual game, the invasions are utterly despised.

    [ QUOTE ]

And then I looked at the link in your signature.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Do you realize how utterly you LOST the argument when you reduced yourself to attacking the game that is linked in my signature? Over 11 years of commercial success is really a foolish thing for you to attack.

Are you that completely unable to stay on topic? Wow. That is really sad.

    Game. Set. Match.

    Thanks for making it easy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wow, yet another example of Cambios having gone and bascially called the devs morons over the game and how they have made it (boring/repetitive, etc), and then saying he has "won" the argument because someone laughed at the fact the guy saying this has a fantasy MUD.

Now, I am not saying your MUD sucks, Cambios. Obviously, at the very least, it has some very loyal fans to have been running for 11 years. But someone bringing mentioning Irony doesn't mean they lose an argument.

Despite the outcry from the DOOMsayers with bare minimum hardware to play the game

    [/ QUOTE ]

Point of order: My hardware handles the invasion just fine. I just happen to think they're unfun and lame.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well Cap, you can avoid them and with the patch notes for the Test Server today, soon you will even be able to ignore the Invasion messages.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I was hoping to just avoid them by not playing until the event was over, only to discover to my horror that it never entirely will.

    Feh.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yeah. What a shame.

But they will just listen to the "yes men" here on the forums whose drooling hero worship is as predictable and unchanging as the invasions themselves.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, if they listened to "no men" like you, we would still not have capes, new faultline, or even wings probably.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]

That does, of course, explain 100% why every time there's an invasion, the zone is swarmed with people and requests for teams fill the air, doesn't it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

About the only thing that gets swarmed on Triumph and Liberty (both hero and villain side) are the trams/ferries as people leave the zone.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not on justice or Freedom - and I think the population differences causes that to balance out :P

Decently popular on Victory too - to my knowledge.

Then again, those sneaky devs, they have all that DATAMINING stuff they do to back up their statements, don't they?

Remember - just like people here on the boards don't necessarily represent the entire player base on an issue, doesn't mean some people you have seen in game do either.

*crosses fingers that the gray'ed out names on the global friends list light up*

The guy said he bought account for wings which we all know any level 1 can now get.

    [/ QUOTE ]

HOW does a lvl 1 get wings without a vet reward?

    [/ QUOTE ]

By someone handing them the recipe, salvage, and influence. Wings are not capes or auras - no level restriction.

    You calling me out Janlee???

Yeah I believe this is bad for in game. Yeah I think such things most be earned.

However a market place for that exist its called e-bay they don't need to advertise it in game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, e-bay no longer accepts those kind of sales and there are none currently up there. It is now against their terms-of-use.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Using the search term "city of heroes imfamy" I found this

Granted that was in the sponsored links section and I imagine a further search would find "masked" sales in their listings.

If City were truly zero tolerance on this matter I would think they would go after these sites and those reported via petition. Then again it may just be a legal hassle that they don't care to pursue.

    ...just sayin

    .....just sayin

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, I just clicked that link.. and got "0 results" .. I even did one for influence for the same.. and again... "0 results"

Guess they aren't as slow as you assumed?

    Peace

    [/ QUOTE ]

He was refering to the ads below that.

Thing is, the "sponsored links" are not links that eBay actually sponsors, but rather sites that have paid to be advertised by whatever service eBay uses.

Someone might want to send a letter to eBay referring to those ads on their site and the fact they are at odds with their policy./

    (7) Level restrict Peregrine Island.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No - it can be hard enough to team with SG mates and friends as it is without adding another level-restricted zone hero side.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
Sigh excuse me if they can block words that could be offensive anywords would it be so hard for them to find the offending person since they can see the original copy of the logs.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Not quite sure what you are saying, but -

When you send anything in through the chat system, it goes out to the server exactly as you typed it - this is what is logged on NCSoft's end.

Then, it is sent to the recipients (yourself, and whoever else it is to) and that is when the individual client censors any banned words.
  10. [ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]
Let's say I wanted to stalk someone - I can /gignore them, get their global handle, and then send them tells no matter who they are on as. If they are not aware of the chat-handle system, they may have very little recourse.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Well, not really - the other person can /gignore you in turn, and the harassment ends there. Not only that, now THEY have YOUR global handle, which they can use to petition you for harassment if you press the issue further.

Mad props to NCSoft for being swift to address this issue. I'm not happy about what gold farmers do to the in-game economy, but I could overlook that. It's the constant spamming that was the irritating part in WoW.

For best results, mention the character name that sent the tell, the global handle, the server, and the time of day in your petition so they can pinpoint it in the chat logs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I understand what you're saying, and yes, you're right. However, if the stalkee wasn't aware of the slash commands, they'd be pretty screwed. That's why I say that...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Even if they don't know slash commands, it's in the friends window, and there is the petition function anyway.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Then make use of the in game /petition command to let our Customer Support Team know of the activity so we can address it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

could you elaborate on this, as to exactly what information you need the petition to contain, what petition topic to enter it under. also how do you globally ignore someone without knowing their global name ?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I use Conduct/Terms of service violation, but it probably doesn't matter.

Just give the name you have of the RMTer.

    And always petition imediately.

Sometimes, i throw in the website, if I an not busy.

But the name is really all they need, as they have full chatlogs of EVERYTHING said in City of Heroes - Private tell or not. And they can find out peoples accounts from that easy.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
It gets worse: my wife's account, which we've been using and playing pretty straightforwardly for the last 2 years plus, always on continued pay, has suddenly been turned off. She never posts here, and we're now racking our brains as to which e-mail account, password, etc. we've signed up under.

Gee, thanks, account re-activation weekend. What a swell job you've done cancelling active accounts.

I'm now off to wrangle with customer services over something that should not ever have been an issue with us.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sorry to hear about this, but -

What email do you get newsletters/bug-report-responses/petition-responses at?

And you might want to arm yourself with the last four the credit card you used for the first payment on the account.

Or the entire code from the time card, if that is what you used.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
I still want to know how they are going to identify those people who have had to be inactive due to hardship beyond their control. I know that the very first thing on MY mind if I were called to active military duty would NOT be notifying NCSoft that my account will be inactive. And if I were in a disaster area - earthquake, hurricane, tornado, etc., I think that NCSoft would be very low on my list of people to contact.

Or am I in a vast minority in thinking that yanking the names of characters on accounts that are inactive due to military or disaster is kinda ... well ... yucky?

    Storm

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think NCSoft can actually use billing location for a tag to run a script on accounts - I seem to recall them doing something for those in the Katrina area.

As for people in the military - NCSoft has done a lot to accommodate them - but they can't be expected to keep such tabs on everyone to know if they are military, getting shipped out, etc.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
So if you reactivate all the dormant accounts, doesn't this utterly defeat the name reclaim policy just announced? Or will they actually have to log in for their account to get flagged as active?

    [/ QUOTE ]

They'll have to log in and subscribe.

Or get them all to level 6+

I found how the trials limit in-game interaction very frustrating.

    No global/broadcast chat.

No Auction house or trading of any kind.

only 20 gold (which is alot in that game at the levels you can play, especially when you have to buy your abilities.)

Cap of level 20 - this is the only one that didn't annoy me.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This is a trial for an upgrade, there are no restrictions since I already own the original game.
