    LH, question:

Would this affect *non monthly* charges? I use my credit card to purchase a YEARLY sub. Have there been issues with this as well, or do I need to call my company?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The first people to get hit and say something had yearly subs, I think.
  2. As long as you have a character on the server, you can use the name check to see if a name is available.

Oh, i think i just figured out the conspiracy here....

Cuppajo and Ex Libris were sent by Positron's evil twin to unleash a bug upon the gaming public. What better way to spend your recovery time than playing CoH/V for 10 hours all day!

Fear not gentle gamers! This tank will not allow this injustice to occur at next years gencon!

    [/ QUOTE ]

The GenCon flu has been around since year 1, most likely. Definatly year 5.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
I did use the support website. They said they could run the recovery tool to try to return the characters. The only problem is I don't remember the names of all the ones that are lost. In the end, it's not a big problem for me. I'll just write off those characters as lost for good, but I'm more concerned about my friend now who lost everything from his initial run of the game and he certainly doesn't remember all the names after how long he's been away.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They shouldn't need the names - they would have your account name on them, I would think.

    *shrug*

    Wish you luck.

Constructive criticism about GenCon Indy Meet & Greet:

    1. IT WAS WAY TOO SMALL.
2, It was way to loud (I am partially deaf and missed most of the conversations due to it being TOO LOUD.)
    3. Arctic has yet to POST the pictures....I know I saw the flash of light and there were no wings on anyone at the time.

Ok day 9 of this gencon flu thing, i'm about ready to curl up in a corner and die. My lungs apparently want to come out and see what's going on around me. However my voice has never been sexier hehe. Anywho, to all those that are still sick I feel your pain but there is gaming to do and nothing shall stand in the way of that!!! <cough cough, sigh>

    [/ QUOTE ]

Apparently the GenCon flu can be transmitted via the internet.

No other explanation on how I am in my current condition!

Firestalker : Yeah, Gencon is a yearly test of both the immune system, and depending on your age, your liver! :P

    [/ QUOTE ]

QFT-- course I drink a juice mix every morning, 2 lemons, 1 grapefruit, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper mixed in a blender with about 40 or 50 oz of water.

It is my sneaky way of getting my fruit intake because otherwise I won't eat it...

My liver is still in detox mode.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The flu is the ONE reason why I might not want to go to Gencon.

of course, I am also the only moderator on this D&D board Iam part of that hasn't gone yet, so I need to do so to shut them up :P

I just convinced my friend to come back to the game since we both started and quit at the same time when the game was initially released. He, too, has found that his characters are gone. This time it's all of them. I told him that perhaps it was due to the same glitch or whatever that happened to me last week. Hopefully he can get them recovered.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Either make a (new) character - preferably on a server you know you didn't use before - and petition, or use the support website.

Ex mentioned something about having to take the storage DB offline for Character Transfer prepwork, but I am not sure how long that was/is supposed to last (and this is apparently why the characters have disappeared).

  9. They have to go through the steps, KP.

And about banning IPs - what if that spammer is using a service that has hundreds of people use on IP address? What then?
  10. [ QUOTE ]
    1. Trial accounts can't click a name on the search window and choose chat - they have to manually type it out/

    [/ QUOTE ]

This would be much more complicated than it sounds - it totally goes against how the client works.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
I don't understand why there isn't a way to block tells as well as global and local messages.

    [/ QUOTE ]

/ignore <name> blocks tells from the named character.

/gignore <@handle> Ignores a player. IIRC, it should ignore all server chat too, I think.

If, for instance, I advertised in-game, and it was traced back to me, what could NCSoft actually sue me for? They could deny me access to the game and/or ban my account, but what else is there? Are they going to sue for damages? A contract violation? What?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I am not a lawyer, but my understanding of situations like this is that the RMT transaction profits illegally from NCSoft's properties, and NCSoft would be within its rights to sue for any monies obtained thereby.

    - Protea

    [/ QUOTE ]

And I doubt the "they are paying me for my time" argument would work with the RMT either. Undoubtedly be slapped down like those people on eBay that are not selling copies of copyrighted digital media, just for CDs which happen to have them burned onto them - after you buy it, of course
  13. [ QUOTE ]
No, I live alone and just came back to the game after a very long break. No one has my account information other than myself unless they obtained it through illegal means. And I only play on two servers so that's where all my characters are.

The thing that made me think it was a policy change and, now, think it's a glitch is that there are 3 characters on both servers that I have logged in under since I've returned; they all stayed. The ones I haven't got around to yet are all gone.

I've submitted a question on the support website but is there any place specifically I should go to report this?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Support is the best bet - unfortunately, what you describe sounds like something that will have to wait until Monday
  14. [ QUOTE ]

You cannot sue or bring suit against one company for violating another company's terms of service

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you are saying that Player A can't sue Company 1 for breaking Company 2's ToS, then yes, you are probably right.

But if you are saying Company 1 can't be sued by Company 2 for violating the rules Company 2 has laid down (The ToS) then you ARE mistaken.

Not even WoW is that stupid. It would totally alienate ANYONE trying the game.

They ban you from Broadcast or Trade, and you can't trade/use mail/use the auction house, and there is a limit on how many tells you can send in a given period, but they don't outright stop tells.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Actually, they do.
You have to have the person you're trying to send a whisper to in your friends list or you can't.
Yes, I'm on a trial account currently.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hmm, don't recall having my friend on a friends list when I first sent him a tell.

Then again, he was put on immediately, so not like it makes much of a difference.

But still, you can use tells. The other guy was saying to disable tells for trials - and IIRC, WoW DOES have the confirm-a-friend thing like our global friends do - the server friends list we get doesn't
  16. [ QUOTE ]
Just remove the ability for TRIAL ACCOUNTS to send tells.

The Character Transfer and Character Rename services are still in the testing phase. With any new feature, we want to ensure that it is rock solid and ready before we make it available.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If it is still in testing phase why is it NOT available on Training Room? Kind of hard to test a service that is not available, is it not?

    ....just wondering

    [/ QUOTE ]

Or just maybe, they have gotten what they can out of the Transfers current build, and find it better/easier to disable it to prevent unneeded issues, etc, from occuring?

They do have another build for it coming soon.

  20. [ QUOTE ]
The two functions, character transfer and renaming should be part of the veteran reward system. The reason for the supposed cost is to deter mass swapping, but I would imagine players with higher veteran rewards have pretty much established certain characters on certain servers. Rewarding long term players with a few renames/transfers would not have a great impact on the reason for the charges on the whole.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Reading for the Win : (from this thread, even!)

    [ QUOTE ]
Q: These features would make great Veteran Rewards! Is that possible?

A: We've talked about this, but the tech to do it wasn't a simple thing. We'd rather get the basic functionality out there for everyone and then go from there.

Just out of curiosity, are there any plans to make the "Passport" badge available to those who do the server transfers with their characters?

No, because that is for the people who used the now-closed US to EU server transfer.

He is even the "cool" cousin - the one that everyone in the family was worried I would emulated just because I got ONE ear peirced... Gah, silly never-did-research-it experts. Oh well, they are family.

the people they are suing have their own legal team, and wording in their own terms of services that are there as a way to cover their behinds.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It isn't people who have used the service that are suing - it's the people who are having their entertainment messed with by a company that is violating a game's EULA themselves.

A company isn't protected one bit by having a ToS agreement if they are harassing people that are not using their service.
  25. [ QUOTE ]
The problem is that from your account you can send out free trials so they need to find the account that is sending the free trials that they are using to spam and ban THAT account. Which probably isn't as easy as it sounds.

The real problem is people who use these services. They cause the problem for everyone else. If they didn't use they they wouldn't bother everyone else.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There is also the MMORPG.com free trials right now.
