Quote:Umm, that is exactly what they have done except they are also allowing it and (Demon Summoning in April) if you pre-purchase GR. Basically, since they know you have GR, they are letting you play it early. I don't really see where your issue is.I understand that Paragon Studios is in need of money and that they have worked a lot on the two powersets, but a powerset should be something that you get for free in a patch. It's not a new class, it's just a powerset.
If DP is the 'money maker' they should just have included it in Going Rogue and made it not accessible unless you had a code for GR.
Quote:To answer your question; personally I'm not that interested in DP. I just thought that it was strange that it was listed but you couldn't use it so I thought I would ask the community. Like it or do not like it, some will have different opinions about a dev choice like this. I personally think it's stupid to include it when you can't use it. And they should at least write on the power that "not accessible if you do not have a preorder code.. something.. something... something".

Since you already got your question answered and some good info from Xalaqia, I'll just say Welcome to City Of!

Quote:Glad to hear you got into the game. Welcome to the City. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.Ok, thanks for the replies. It seems to be working now. Can't comment on game quality straight away, but the idea of having a permanent 'this is a trial' window in the centre of the screen is a bad idea. I'm aware my pc is old. I'm aware that i should upgrade it, but I would hope peopel respect that I don't have the knowledge or the money to do so, and I can't afford to buy a new machine either. It runs ok, for a trial at least, a little laggy around the Rogue Isles. I have the latest drivers from nvidia: 175.16_geforce_winxp_32bit_international_whql (that's the name of the exe from the website). if there are any better drivers I don't know where they are; it's like looking for a needle in a haystack and I would assume that nvidia make the best and most up to date ones. Thanks.
As an aside, I think we all agree that the trial restriction window would be annoying (even if we never personally experienced it). Since we have the devs attention, you may help to change that.

Quote:Well, you have received at least two recommendations. Hopefully, they will resolve you issue. Please let us know how it works out.If i wasn't interested in other people's opinions, I wouldn't be here at all. But as I said, the greatest game in the world is no good if I can't play it.

Quote:The game has been successfully running for 5 almost 6 years (in April). It is stable. I understand you are frustrated. But, as Radubadu stated installation issues are very infrequent. I'm sorry you are having difficulties. The fact that it is re-downloading files, along with you not seeing the UI initially, strongly indicates that the installation you have is messed up, a lot. I would recommend letting the updater run, download, and giving it the time it needs correct itself. After which, you should be able to see what the game truly offers. And if you like it and choose to pay for it, you will already have a full functional copy.p4 1.5, 1gb RAM, geforce fx5200, windows XP. the fix was to put the isntallation program on the desktop, which i did and it ran. It installed the game to the default folder and then I ran it, which seemed fine until the game started properly (with a villain character) and I saw no ui. Everything else seemed fine. I logged out properly and then when i came back to log in the above happened and it just ain't happening. Of course I'm judging the game, but I won't pay for any piece of software that isn't at least stable first. This isn't. If it can be fixed, great. If it's going to take all day to do it, notsomuch.
If you don't wish to do so because of your frustration, that is your choice. But since you posted into the player question section, I would assume you are, at least, willing to listen to our advice and possibly withhold judgment until you are able to experience the game as it was meant to be.

Quote:I'm sorry that you feel it is not helpful. I respectfully disagree but, that is neither here nor there. This mindset does not need to be changed. Sorry, but, being helpful to fellow players should not be discouraged. Ever.2)just because a buffer believes he's helping doesnt mean he actually is! i want your buffs in a team(never SB) i dont want your buffs when im in oro or at the market or in the univ. people that think that buffing is good, random buff everyone. that thinking needs to go away. times change, buffers mindsets should too!

Quote:You can't learn how to play the character's level then other 99.99% of the time you are not buffed during that level? You don't learn to ride a bike without falling off once in a while. I'm much happier falling down and learning to play all by myself (I'm a big boy!) rather than having someone run up and slap the training wheels on for me because they feel messianic.
However, 99% of the drive-by buffs I get are NOT when I am struggling against a foe on the street. They're usually when
1.) I'm standing at the Black Market or at the arbiter (yay! I can buy stuff/pick powers faster! Thanks!)
2.) I'm in Pocket D (WTF?)
3.) I'm just getting ready to START a fight on the street (and now have to wait for the stupid buff to wear off so I can start)
It's #3 that bothers me most, the others are just plain stupid.

Quote:Overall I agree with you. But, I cannot agree with this. Expressing a concern while it is in development is the most appropriate time. Doing so reduces the likelihood that it could be the case before beta were it is less liekly to be scrapped. That worry will be in the developer's mind more then if nothing was said.I second the position that End Game content is an unqualified good. The fact that people can IMAGINE problems with a system they know nothing about is meaningless.

Quote:I wouldn't go that far yet. Uninstall both the older Physx driver and the new Nvidia driver. In safe mode, use Driver Sweeper to make sure both are completely gone (the uninstallers tend to leave remnants). Then re-install the new driver again and hopefully that will work. If not, then you might choose to re-format.Well Nvidia has been zero help and does not respond to support tickets apparently. Any advice from others here? My next step is to consider a full re-install of my PC to flush out all the drivers and such.

Quote:I think people should attempt to communicate effectively. The main way to do this is to try to use the established rules for spelling, punctuation and grammar in all forms of communication. I do this regardless of whether that medium is the Internet or not.i think people need to stop sphincter-clinching over other peoples spelling and typing. when erudite psudo intellectuals begin looking down on people because they have better things to do than use spell check, it makes me feel like people are going out of their(the're/there) way to make themselves look better by trying to make me look worse
its your interernet, you can do what u want with it.please grant me the same courtesy(sp?).
were not all such cunning linguists.
As for better things to do then using spell check, both Firefox and other web browsers have them built in. They automatically alert you to a misspelling immediately by underlining it. There is not much time taken out of your busy day then the two seconds it takes to right-click on the word and choose the right one on the list.
I guess it comes down to me extending to my readers the courtesy of not having to decipher what I am trying to say. I find this more important than the limited amount of time I save in ignoring those rules. I don't look down on others that do not use those rules but, I would be lying if I said I did not wish they would show me the courtesy I show them.

Quote:Really, it depends on the style guide used for the writing. For instance, MLA and APA which is commonly used in college (at least in the US) requires the serial comma. So, GuyPerfect is both correct and incorrect in his assertion that the omission is correct. I typically don't use them but, that is from years of writing for high school and college newspapers. Both used the AP style guide, which is one of the styles where it is omitted.I was actually taught in second or third grade that a list of three things should have two commas, as in "one, two, and three." I learned later that it is redundant, but have only ever had one teacher (in college) tell me that it was outright inappropriate to use the second comma.
Anyway, someone has to use the extra commas left out by the people who refuse to use them at all.

Quote:You could search for the character name and go about trying to find them. But, you can friend them with just the character name (with the restrictions already stated) by using /friend <character name>.I tried logging out and then quickly back into my Villain, but then I realized I couldn't just "search" for that character by name, and then I had no idea how to add them without finding their avatar in the game. I also didn't want to add global because folks are a bit more hesitant with adding those (including myself). As a second question, is there a way around this
Just a tidbit, I thought I would throw out there.

Yours is probably not the same but, may sort of be related.
Quote:Video Device Name: Intel(R) G33/G31 Express Chipset Family (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.0) -
This is probably a driver issue. I do see that you are on an old version, 185.93. The current is 195.62. You can find that here.
When, getting rid of the old version, I'd recommend running driver sweeper after you use the nvidia uninstaller to get rid of the stuff it leaves behind.

My 50s
1) Radionuclide (Def: Rad/Rad) My first and is still played quite a bit.
2) Rad's Pyro (Cont. Fire/Rad) No longer around. He has long been deleted. I just couldn't enjoy him as much after the ED and imp nerf. But, really he was re-rolled and renamed as my corruptor
3) Luminaria (PB) I don't play her very much. In fact, I believe she still has pre-ED slotting.
4) Morsmordre (MM Necro/Dark) My first villain to 50. I love playing him.
5) Rad's Meltdown (Cor Fire/Rad) I may make him go rogue. It was always apart of his story to be redeemed with the help of his brother.
6) Intensify (Cont Fire/Kin). My favorite to play. Love the concept, the character, the name, and the way she plays. She gots it all.
7) Conviction (Tank WB/DB) The first tank I could play higher then level 10.
9) Ebon Thorn (Scrap Spines/Dark) She is not played very much. But, I enjoyed leveling her up.
12) Ebon Askavi (Night Widow) She does come out to play from time to time. I really only like playing her with other SoAs. So. Much. Fun.
11) Fimbulvetr (Def Cold/Ice) Also not played very much. Though he will be brought out during the winter event for some more winter themed badges.
11.5) Welsh Green (Def Thermal/Fire) Ok, ok. Technically he is not 50 yet. But, he is 49 and half does that count?

Quote:Patch Notes for 12-1 say that it is availble as Flashback. I can't find it. It is because I have already done the cape mish, or was it taken out?
Look in the level 45-50 Category range. Since it is playable up to 50, it should be there instead of when it becomes available.

Quote:This is so incredibly wrong. I'll prove it with two powersets - Regeneration and Willpower
Someone said this game doesn't have healers?
That's an old-old misconception of words that's been fought many times over on these forums. There are healers in this game, because they have the ability to heal, therefore they are healers. If your toon can heal, you are thusly a healer. That is what was meant by the OP, and that is what was understood. So, yes, in that context, there are healers in this game.
Someone else said healers become a 5th wheel at higher levels.
That is so true! The only time I get to actually play as a healer is if I look for lower level teams. They always want/need healers. Higher level teams just ask me to go get my kin (also a healer).. Ok, Ok I kid. Seriously, two powersets - Dark Miasma and Radiation Emission. Both have a heal but, it is not their focus at all. There focus is Debuffs. Hell, even Empathy (which the OP said was a heal set because it had more heals) is focused much more on buffs - Fort, CM, Both RAs, and AB compared to HA, HO, and AP.
The reason people say there are no healers in this game, is to change a misconception; that healing should be the focus and ultimate mitigation of damage. This is the case in other games. And some transplants carry this misconception on to this game. In this game buffs/debuffs are so much stronger then heals.
There are no healers in this game - there are defenders, controllers, corruptors, and masterminds. And all of them should focus on other aspects of their powerset then healing. To not do so, is to limit your character and your team.

Quote:Haven't looked at everything, but these two things are off. Possibly, some sort of corruption of the drivers. There is no way that that should be the driver date.Driver Version: 6.14.0011.9107
Driver Date: 1/01/0001 12:00:00 AM
Driver Language: English
Sound Device Description: Realtek HD Audio output
Driver File: RtkHDAud.sys
Driver Version: 5.10.0000.5874
Driver Date: 1/01/0001 12:00:00 AM
I would recommend un-installing. using Driver Sweeper to ensure everything is blown away, then re-installing. Do this separately for both and consider doing in in Safe Mode.
