Note how quickly the Eden Trial was first replaced as WST, then fixed so it will allow people over level 41 to start it. Any bets on which week in June it will be WST? If people working toward Incarnate goodies experience an inconvenience (after all, the trial was still doable, you just needed someone of the right level to start it...or you could go Vigilante and do Ice Mistral) it's immediately fixed, but a major inconvenience that renders large chunks of a feature unusable due to an undocumented and unnecessary "fix" is allowed to go on and on for months because when you're playing AE you're not grinding trials, citizen!
In both cases, one thread is enough, really. They are already aware of it and are working on it. Simply because they were able to fix the Eden trial faster does not mean there is a conspiracy. It means it was able to be fixed faster.

    I know. It's shocking, right?

GG is talking purely about iXP. No slotting; simply unlocking. And that is what I mean by referencing the hand-waving. It does exactly what she claimed. By using shards, we can reduce by not having to run the trials to unlock (or at least not as much) but, not avoid the grind.

But, it was no near the level that would be required to do so purely by running the trials and waiting for drops and the right rewards table.
My reply was to you in the context of unlocking with the addition of slotting; to show the reductions in runs it took me to slot without conversion. I didn't convert shards to build components, I did it to convert them to iXP so that I could begin to slot. I simply used the leftovers I had after building by tier 4 Alpha. That was my point.

Would I call it a viable alternative to slotting? Probably not beyond a tier 1.

Presenting it as an alternative route to unlocking the i20 slots and securing enough threads to craft anything, however, is tantamount to my above also-truths.
While not discounting what you are saying is correct (there is no viable alternative to running the trials), GG is correct that using threads/shards (I would also add Astral and Empy Merits) do greatly reduce the number of trials that are needed to be run to unlock and slot.

So please, stop presenting it as some kind've alternative to the present inexorable and unavoidable need to grind the unholy snot out of BAF and Lamda. It just ain't so.

Try encouraging people to some perspective if you can. Handwaving real issues with a painfully obvious non-option as an 'alternative' to grinding BAF and Lamda until their sanity is gone if they want to incarnate slot the stables of 50's many of us rock around with isn't very helpful.
Addressing the bold par:. IMO, she did do that and you call it handwaving. She is simply saying there is a way to reduce the grind. I don't see any harm in suggesting that course of action.

Nothing wrong with my comprehension. I just don't agree. But, nice Ad hominem.

You can fail and still get rewarded and the marvelous endgame here involves running just TWO Trials over and over and over and over....
You can get rewarded (XP, salvage, recipes, and enhancements) in every mission and TF in the game. You point is?

Well if you are very happy with that then go knock yourself out, have fun with it. Go grind it 5 times a night till your eyes bleed and be happy.

I for one am not happy with this. They have made themselves a paradox of grining and loosing but still getting rewards.
Great. it is optional and you don't have to.

It's not even learning the tactics that is the problem, people know them.

It is the way you are all...Alpha Slotted and IO'd to the hilt with billions of inf spent or SO's only....reduced by gimmicls to been wiped and given token rewards till you get slotted with these new powers....that ONLY work on these two grindfests to actually complete it properly.
The ITF was failed over and over when it first came out and decried that it was to hard to be Romy. It was never modified and now it is cake. The reason? People learned better tactics.

Don't assume so much. Me, personally, I have alpha slotted and have some IO sets frankenslotted but, have mostly have generic IOs.

    Quote:
You don't have to learn the tactics...go to the forums, read them, print them out, have them next to you as you fight. Won't help you though till you get all those new powers and then you stand a chance on a random LFG tool.
And yet it has been beaten by PUGs on day one while people are still earning those powers... Interesting assumption on your part.

To each their own, you don't have to like them. But, using flawed logic does not prove your point.

    Quote:
One TF for everyone and Two limited Grindfests, nice really for the time they had I suppose but not progression raiding where they could of had the Alpha slot beginner slotted and SO's as the entrance benchmark and gone from there with proper tactics and a few differant ways you could complete it, but no, they went for the happy endgame most of you seem ok with.

Depressing really what people will be happy with these days.
Correction: 1 TF, One SF for everyone and 'Two limited Grindfests".

I am sorry you are disappointed. I really am. You have every right to feel that way. But, it seems most (as you pointed out) feel the differently . The Devs cannot please everyone.

Also, City of Heroes is taking an alarming direction change. Do you honestly think 90% of the playerbase is here for endgame and raids. Yes they all like a new TF evey issue or 2, a nice lvl 50 one pls, but all the ones inbetween 1 and 50 are great to, nice lore, nice new content...maybe a nice new shiney powerset or two to play about with and some new cossie pieces and the majority of your playerbase is fine.
Your whole argument falls flat here. Not only did this issue have those trials, it also gave a new TF and a new SF for those levels between 1 and 50. So, if you do not wish to partake of the endgame (like the other "90%" of the playerbase), then you have options to do so.

I'll give an older example. How do heroes gain influence for defeating baddies? Do they rob them? Seems doubtful in context. Are they paid for by the state? Maybe the April's Joke is real. Or is it that the citizenry admires them more, enough to give them products and services due to their reputation?

Kill the clones to stop the regen boost then beat on him until he does it again. Rinse and repeat until he goes down.
