  1. You're thinking of The_Gamemaster, I think. I'm pretty sure the guy referenced here is *not* that person.

Purple IOs will be fine, I finally have a farmer I can live with.
    This post has it all.

    - Are you a grammar freak or a spell check nitpicker? There's more than enough to go around.

    - Are you a user of Mids? Check!

    - Do you hate RPers or concept builds? Check!

    - Do you hate number crunchers? Check! (Amazing that you can fit both in, well played)

    - Do you hate PvPers? Check!

    - Are you a PvPer who knows how much this build combo sucks? Check!

    - Do you know enough about IOs to know that his targets are lame and silly? Check!

This was a work of mastercraftsmanship. Give the man his props, people!

This is the "Help People" thread.
Here, players who need Inf help can ask for such help. Hopefully the sender of the private message will be able to find willing and able help in this thread. Feel free to speak up if you need Inf help.

I hope that someone will organize a fund for such endeavors. I am not willing to organize nor facilitate such a fund. However, I am willing to donate hundreds, perhaps even thousands of Inf to the cause.
heh heh, didn't realize the Goons had come to CoH. Awesome.

Been away from the game since last summer.

Checked out the forums this AM, and sure enough ... Champion drama.

    Good times!

After he expressed his strong dislike for pyramids, I told him I'd be making a monstrous one the moment I could get to the web.

As a show of being fun about it, he said he'd let it live until Monday. He lived up to his word. Srsly.

looks like you should be able to get the imps up to 37% def (sheilds, manuev+ 2 def procs, arc fog). That is some pretty tough imps. I like my fire/storm troller, but fire/cold seems like the 2.0 version of it.

The thought of playing another fire troller with bottomless endurance (other than kin) is tempting.

    Two words: Frostworked Imps.

Think they have an HP cap?

  10. Digra. hehe

The APA and DIGRA are really not on the same academic plane. I don't the prof is going to be in trouble for presenting that essay - and he makes it pretty clear on page one that its an essay not a controlled experiment of any kind. That wouldn't have been looked at twice in any kind of meaningful research journal.

I sadly haven't read the newspaper article (nola.com is banned @ work), but I think the prof isn't in nearly the trouble folks were alluding to earlier.

No one PLs better than Web. Its a damned shame he isn't around for the AE extravaganzas.
  12. [ QUOTE ]

He didn't "Play to win", he played to make other people lose. His justification was: "It's not expressly forbidden in the EULA and TOS."

    [/ QUOTE ]

I dunno. When Twixt was on Champion, he did everything you'd expect a player "trying to win" would do. The guy went from station to station eliminating the turrets, etc ... trying to win the zone for heroes. That may have changed when he moved to Freedom, but when I zone PvP'd he usually tried to win.

Other than his seeming autism and poor command of the English language, I never had an issue with Twixt. I loved Twixt-isms ... "Base Is Safe" and "Arean Boy" were a significant part of my vocabulary for a few months.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Then those of you trying to take this to another level better be ready to step before a ethics review board to state your case. Otherwise, its your word against again...a ""internationally-recognized scholar".

    Good luck with that!

    Twixt PvP'd. People cried.

But submitting videogame PvP as a formal research project? That's one of the dumbest things I heard in my life. Twixt may be a G, but he's about to lose his job.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I seriously doubt anyone is about to lose their job....

    lol......

I think more than anything, people are madadadadadad at getting ganked by a 55 year old professor while PvPing.

    HAHAHAHAHA!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Or all those formally responding never actually got ganked by Twixt. You know, whichever is actually true.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Maybe, but then if that's the case, why do you care what this guy does with his research? It's not like the results impact your life in some way.....

There's plenty of ways to get your 15 minutes of fame rather than trying to make a statement by reporting some random professor for sketchy experimental methods.

All the meanwhile....he's probably laughing while raking in 6 figures a year. Something I doubt the majority of people here do. Its amazing to me what random people find is their business to investigate.

The guy is a "internationally-recognized scholar of digital media and play" yet you guys think you're going to get him fired over this?

    Hilarious....

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm not trying to get anyone fired, and while I've been ganked plenty by Twixt, I usually didn't care ... Twixt was an easy kill. Pop an orange, a purple and 12 reds and wax that [censored].

Anyway, human subject research is usually taken pretty seriously - if he is publishing research as a sociological analysis, he's probably fine, but if he's actually trying to get something published in an APA peer-approved journal, it could be a problem.

You probably want a corr that can maximize rain of fire. It does 3x damage when is scourges and checks for scourge with each tick.

Fire/dark and Fire/storm jump out as the builds that can do it earliest and best. Fire/cold can do it as well, with snowstorm, but sleet is a loooong ways off.

If you are patient though I'd personally recommend fire/cold. If you are looking for more instant gratification - fire/dark. If you are somewhat patient, but still want results fairly early - fire/storm.

Fire/traps is a very good toon, just in a different way.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I love my Fire/Cold but the wait till 35 was a looooooooong one. At 36 with slotted Sleet, it was a beast. A BEAST I SAY! And shockingly, its never been meaningfully nerfed. Still just as good today as it was 2 years ago.
  18. I'll ante up $3.99 for a Starbucks Latte
  19. Less damage, more recharge, more endurance?

    That's the holy trifecta!

Ah, well. My Fire/Fire is still fantastic, but I reckon it would suck to level one up prior to lvl 10 ish.
  20. Or is this attack a little horrid post I15?

I've taken a few months off, and came back to try out my fire/fire Dom under the new changes. At level 41, that Dom is freakin' awesomesauce. BUT ... due to the /fire recharge changes, I find myself using Flares a lot, and I don't remember it being this bad for the D/E/R prior to I15.

I screwed around a bit with a lowbie Mind/Fire and it (Flares) really does look off ... I could crunch some numbers but I figured I'd drop in and see if any resident Dom-o-philes had already tossed this bone Castle's way.
  21. COngrats, this was a brilliant trolling effort
  22. Elandil, I apologize for my lack of clarity - when I said magnitude earlier I was specifically referencing Hot Feet's slow magnitude. Mobs will run away alright - particularly under Burn's influence - but my experience with /fire is that mobs take a good firm "whack" first, and then get out of range of PBAoEs faster than I can animate my attacks. Grrrrr.

Things may have changed - I leveled up and Elec/Fire under SOs to the high 30s, and it was not for the faint of heart. Fun, but wild. Good luck - you might also consider a mix of positional defense that will get you into the low 30s to all, slot Short Circuit for end drain. Pop one purple per mob to approach soft cap per mod, drain 'em (mostly) and by the time they've fired off a few ineffective attacks, you've defenestrated them. I dunno, its a tough build!
  23. This thread is like a license to print money. Particularly villain-side.

I made a number of rolls in the 10-14 range and while I thought I rolled a bunch of crap, when I scanned recipe prices, all I could think was "CHA CHING!"

    So good.
  24. Your melee defense is low. You have to be in melee for your big $ attacks to hit. The animation times on said attacks is non-trivial.

Burn and Hot Feet will create fear and Hot Feet will create slows, but the magnitude is much smaller than you're expecting.

In other words, you're going to get whacked. Hard. In melee. Many times.

With a decent defender or other buffer backing you up, the build can be fun, but you won't be solo-ing large mobs to the extent that you're planning to.
