  1. Though my Vanguard concepts are a little more flexible than yours, I'll tell you, anyway.

I have a personal SG of about... hmmm... 15 characters? The SG is called "Vanguard Herald" and thematically represents various negotiators and security forces (the Herald would probably handle it's own security except for the most important of meetings).

The line-up goes something like this (these are the 50's, at least):

Captain Redford: BS/WP Scrapper, wears full purple/black Vanguard armor. Second in command behind Incandescence. Hostile negotiations master.

Major Gameli: Dark/Cold Defender, full purple/black Vanguard armor, minus the face. Voudon spirit who is on his last reincarnation. Specializes in "filibuster" type arguments (he has a lot of patience).

Lt. Bauman: Elec/Elec/Munitions Blaster, full gray/purple Vanguard armor. Simply a mutant who excels in security and hostage situations.

Lt. Reims: Fire/Mental/Elec Blaster, full gray/purple Vanguard armor. A powerful and idealistic pyrokinetic who also wears an electric chassis to fortify his defense. Extreme specialization in defense and security.

Hologram Girl: Illusion/Rad/Power, full purple/black Vanguard armor. A weak photokinetic who had her powers boosted by the Vanguard. Works exclusively with them and offers security, distractions, and cover fire.

The point of all this was, of course, to show that you don't need a specific powerset to be validated as a Vanguard member. That is their point! Though, the BS/WP would be "more generic," the common soldier in Vanguard is not super-powered, hence the Impervium armor to... ya know... save their lives. You can be both a hero/villain AND a Vanguard loyalist (I know I am).
  2. Rampant crap: She said Nemesis, capital N. So, we know we won't be fighting Nemesis.
  3. Hmmmmm, good point. I just hope it isn't as cheesily done.
  4. I noticed the new Issue 17 description refers to the Dark Mirror not as a title but an object. Anyone have any ideas? Perhaps some kind of time travel device that only works in properly aligned dimensions (ie, Praetorian Earth and Primal Earth)? Possibly, it could even be a quick way to skip through dimensions?

    Any thoughts?

I'm going to be crushing those silly Resistance members in wonderful, high-res graphics!

Swear, these forums are so dusty.
  8. Ah, the heady days of arguing moot points and crying d00m...

My original handle was Radiant Beam (my first 50), via Protector. When Protector began to... well, sufficed to say it had its share of pettiness, I moved to Virtue.

I got involved with the community there and eventually I heard "It's Rad's fault" or "Rad did it" so many times it became my true name.

My globals are now RadDidIt, RadDidItAgain, and RadDidItSomeMore :P
  9. This confuses me.

Are you complaining about the new difficulty settings? They make the game harder, now. You could get a +4 spawn (+5 to any SSK's!) with 8 people before. The most you could get was +3, iirc.
  10. Update:

Flawless. Makes me weep for all the time I spent building my giant HAL 8999. In fact, I am thinking of selling my "super-computer" and using the extra money to build that exact same Shuttle (cept with my 295, not my 280) and a toned down Shuttle for my gf to use for movie editing.

Seriously, 10/10. Wonderful. Best computer I've ever owned.

Statesman and Recluse's meeting would be the wraparound to the main story ... and the end would have Recluse's minions and the Freedom Phalanx showing up to fight with Recluse and Statesman stepping between them to put a stop to the fight ... for that day.

There are a couple of reasons why I would want to play a scene like this.

Depending on whether or not you accept the novels as canon, Stefan and Marcus weren't just foxhole buddies ... they literally grew up together. Stefan's father took Marcus and his brother (would make for an interesting story if we found out that Marcus's dead brother was either Tyrant or Reichsman in another reality) in when their parents died. I'd like to think some ties still linger though both Marcus and Stefan would deny it ...

(After all, doesn't the idea that Clark Kent and Lex Luthor were close friends at one point make the story of Luthor Vs. Superman so much more interesting?)

Aside from the familial connections, the fact remains that Recluse and Statesman are two of the last survivors of World War I. I've always thought that a neat scene would be Recluse and Statesman toasting to their fellow doughboys when the last American veteran of the War to End All Wars finally passes onto his great reward ...
    Two things:

    1) I suggested that Marcus' brother might be the real Tyrant (in that reality, he died and his brother took zeh powah). People laughed at me. The GR slides specifically say evil TWIN. Not evil version, evil TWIN. People called me insane. *throws a rope around BB and hauls him into the boat*

    2) I like the idea of the doughboys toast. The fallen soldiers of WW1 would perhaps be their only real shared non-aggressive sentiment.

Agreed. Play a /elec brute and youll be smashing through most of the game in no time.

What if the COX franchise really took off after the Going Rogue Expansion to the extent that there was interest in an Animated Series based on the game? What would you want to see in it? Any suggestions on who you would want to be the voice actor? Animation style?

As for me, I've got a few brief ideas:

Animation: Timmverse style. There's just something about that style of animation that really appeals to me in terms of a super hero show. Maybe it's because I've seen so much of it already ...

Content: If I were in charge, I would do the show similar to how JLU was set up. Most of the episodes would focus on the Freedom Phalanx and Recluse and his lieutenants, but I'd also do episodes focusing on other heroes and villains ... say an episode featuring Penny and the Clockwork King or an episode centered on the Adventures of Wretch and the Sidekick Villains ...

Overarching themes: I'd set up an arc for Ms. Liberty. At the beginning of the series, she would start out being the wholesome Goody Two-Shoes she seems to be when you first meet her after going through the Outbreak tutorial. The series would start right after the Rikti War with her just starting to stepping out of Statesman's shadow. Throughout the first season, she would face hard choices that would lead her down a path darker than her grandfather likes. The end of the first season would see her founding Longbow.

I would want to do spotlight/flashback episodes on the main characters showing how they came to be the heroes and villains they are today:

Citadel and Luminary would show us something of life for the non-organics of Paragon City. An ongoing theme would be showing how Lumi is much more accepted by people than Citadel and is something of a party girl. She'd face some setbacks along the way because of her desire to be "human", but she would also succeed in making Citadel somewhat less stuffy ...

Oh, and there would be an episode centering around the friendship/rivalry of Recluse and Statesman flashing back throughout their whole history. It would reveal that there's one day a year where they do NOT strike out at each other and come together in peace to talk about times gone by and toast to long gone friends and family ...

I have more ideas, but I want to hear what the rest of you think too ... So share already!

Season 2, I think, would have to be about Hamidon Pasilima and the destruction of Eden. Would have to be darker, maybe have the "hit from all sides feel." Rikti, DE, Arachnos.

Also, the idea of Marcus and Stefan meeting is cool. I believe their meeting place would be Monica Richter's grave on her birthday. Stefan brings the bubbly.

Perhaps as Ms. Liberty goes "down," we begin to see the Vindicators form? I think Infernal, Mynx, and Swan would already be there, but they would find Malaise with the help of Psyche...? Explaining the whole Psyche/Aurora thing would be a story arc all its own. Valerie Kellum could be shown pre-injection and have one of those "lol I saved the day!" episodes. Woodsmen would be interesting to see alive, and then die/go ghost in Season 2. :P

Nope. You fail by attempting to explain away 'ships using evidence. In fact, your first point up there about Zoisite/Kunzite not being actual 'ships because they're actual relationships merely proves your grasp at 'ships so makes your post contradictory regarding them.

Sure about that, Blue? I know her personality matrix (or w/e you like to call it) was designed to emulate the woman, but that doesn't mean she is turning into her.

For example: Citadel is based off Statesman genetic and personality patterns, but acts... not really like Statesman.

Statesman/Lord Recluse.. childhood friends and rivals who often get into hot and heavy fights with each other, etc. Always thinking of each other in some form or another. What should we call it.. Statescluse?

Statesman/Manticore.. rivals in philosophy but with the same goals in mind. Manticore's already been established in the canon to have penetrated Statesman deeply with his hard shaft. I imagine Manticore's the aggressor in this, and most likely the sadist to Statesman's masochist. Hmm.. Staticore? Manman?

Back Alley Brawler/Manticore.. longstanding fatherly or at least teacher relationship between the two. Back Alley Brawler seems to be one of the few people who can keep Manticore in line, thus making Manticore the sub in this pairing. BABicore?

Tyrant/Statesman.. Statesman seems to spend quite a bit of time chained up in Tyrant's own personal dungeon, doesn't he, hmm? Again we see States' canonical ties to being a masochist again. Maybe we should just call this one Cole².

Anti-Matter/Neuron.. once friends, now rivals and enemies. Quite a bit of emotional friction there.. but I bet if there's anyone who can get Anti-Matter out of that literal and emotional shell of his armor, it's Neuron.

Aeon/Aeon.. Dr. Aeon's pretty full of himself, and he has the ability to make clones of himself. I'm sure there's a very dirty and obvious joke in there, somewhere. But let's leave that as is. Aeon^10.

Wincott/Frostfire.. there has to be a reason why Wincott keeps going after him and keeps letting his son end up in trouble all the time to the point where he has to send people after Frostfire. There also has to be a reason why Frostfire lets it happen and keeps going back for more. I imagine Frostfire spends nights melting the ice on the iced over windows of his hideout so he can look longingly in the direction of the gate to Atlas Park and the mustached man he wants to help melt the layer of ice over the raging inferno that is his heart. Winfire.

    Do I win?

    1) Zoisite/Kunzite is a real pairing. They are lovers in the manga (stating because they are not a "shipper" couple. They just are.).

    2) Harry/Snape? What is wrong with you people?

    3) States/Recluse: The ONLY reason I don't see Statesman and Recluse being lovers, ever, is that Marcus has always been much infatuated with Monica.

    4) Statesman/Manticore: Manticore has Sister Psyche and has never shown any feelings for any man in any canon.

    5) BAB/Manti: Same as above.

    6) Tyrant/States: lol wut?

    7) Anti-Matter/Neuron: AM is obsessed with Domi. Neuron has a sex toy in Bobcat. Give it up.

    8) Aeon^10: Somewhere, somehow, there would be an Aeon insane enough to sex himself up.

    9) Wincott/Frostfire: Wincott has nothing personal against Frostfire, per say. The Igneous haz Lil Wincott. However, Winfire is a fantastic name. XD

  17. Tough one. Closest solution I've found is a faulty/bad/corrupt ActiveX control. First, run a comprehensive virus/adware/spyware check. Use AVG if you dont have it. The come back here.

Meh, I suppose. I care about canon and realistic settings, more than anything.

  21. Out of respect for BlueBattler's awesome literary skills and ideas, I'm going to keep this thread going...

Lady Grey / Dark Watcher - Only a fool wouldn't see this one. Both are incredibly straight forward tacticians who will do whatever it takes to get the job done. They are also both incredibly long-lived and rather spry considering their age. Double darkness, too (I always imagine Devin as being a DM/WP scrapper and Lady Grey being a D3 Defender/Corruptor). I think Devin and Grey understand each other on a mystical level.
  22. Hardcase / Mage Killer Zuhkara: This seems logical. Both hunt down mystical and supernatural trouble-makers. Hardcase is a straigt up bad@$$ and takes part in his jobs just like Zuhkara. They would make wonderful Code 1011's together.

Wretch / Ghost Widow: There's more here than it seems at first look. Wretch was the only other living thing left when Belladonna was dying. Almost like "Love At Last Sight," I think Belladonna died loving Paolo. And since "the dead do not change" (which has been repeated in every GW arc), GW might STILL be in love with Wretch, but unable to do anything about it because though though she loves him, she CAN'T change. She can't make new connections with him, etc etc. Plus he might be too dumb.

    Edit: Dumple cranky! Dumple SMASH!

At least you're ready for Ultra Mode. Just out of curiosity, what sort of screensize/framerate does CoX give you at maximum detail settings?

    Gorgeous. <----

Sad to report that I've never played past 1920x1080, BUT...

With everything at max, at 1920x1080 on a Nvidia 295, I never drop below 29 FPS. Ever. Period. One time, ONE time, during a RWZ Raid I tried to stress my system by keeping the entire raid and most of RWZ on my screen. 28.60 FPS.

To be honest, right now this very instant, I'm playing via an HDMI cable on a 48" Samsung LCD... from my laptop. My Gateway FX has a 9800M, and its flawless.

(If you need a gaming laptop, get a Gateway FX. It's like $950-999 and is WORTH it.)

Will switch that out for the rig I posted here in this forum 2 days ago.
