Quote:New badge in Firebase Zulu: Stormwatcher.
"It was here that Earth's explorers first encountered the mysterious entities of the Shadow Shard. Their threat was implicit and the need to keep them contained became a driving force in the establishment of Tempest Sector. As a representative of Paragon City, you have joined the fight to prevent the denizens of the Shadow Shard from extending their range into your home dimension. Some see their discovery of Primal Earth's dimension as inevitable; a "coming storm" which could rival the Rikti Invasion in destructive potential."

The one thing I was worried about, and still have no answer to, is whether net influence is flowing *to* the red side or *out* of the red side. If the markets are functioning correctly after the merge, net inf should be flowing into the red side at the moment. If net inf is flowing out of the red side, it points to potential long term problems which we wouldn't be able to see clearly yet.
A great question, actually. Would love to know. -
Behold the full powah of paragon!

Thread of the week. Invader Zim references, creepy guy eyeballing Munki, Arcanaville dropping l33t m4th bombs of knowledge. Win.
Edit: Also, servers are up. But not really. -

I fixed it. Hopefully, Mod XX won't be too angry.... -
To be honest, I was only talking about the actual NPC's. :3

Quote:That's if you buy into the idea that Praetoria is a utopia, which it isn't. What Praetoria has more akin with the city in Logan's Run. What Praetoria is is a cross between utopia justifies the means and a world half empty. It's a horrible, violent, hostile world where humans have found some small haven run on happy thoughts and methodical violence, where people are oppressed and controlled for their own good.
That's not to say that the regime is strictly EVIL, as Cole and his dictatorship are, after all, solely responsible for saving the world from complete depopulation, so they did at least a few things right. However, that's not to say that the regime is strictly GOOD, as Cole has seen fit to rob people of their rights, their free will and, in fact, their very world, breeding them like pets. So on the one hand, he is the saviour of the world, but on the other hand, he IS the slave driver and slave owner of the world.
Yes, but Calvin Scott is a terrorist villain. He is insane and seeks to topple the government, less for upright reasons and more because he is, as stated, a vengeful psychopath. He incites terror even amongst people who don't deserve it, therefore, he is a terrorist.
Yes, Cole does horrible things. But, Scott does... utterly insane things that won't help anyone. -
I think the optimum team makeup for a Black Friday run would be:
Granite Tank, because they are big and usually teleport. They are strong against mez attacks, like false sales and people using dirty tactics. Have them in the back, taunting and holding the masses while you run in.
Earth/kin controller, because you need to slow others down and lower their defense to Being Easily Distracted. Speed boost is good, but be careful! Run into a rack and you'll lose time!
Shield scrapper: Should be in front, permanently scrapperlocked and salelocked. Low hitpoints but fast Buy Now Damage makes it worth their while. Shield should be in shape of a shopping cart. Use Shield Charge only if necessary.
AR Blaster, because... you should always have a gun. -
Quote:Male Arachnos agents that display Psi powers are taught to focus them inwardly and are funnelled into the Bane Spider program. If they show no aptitude for Psi but are otherwise exemplary agents with good leadership skills they are promoted up to Wolf Spider Huntsman and if they're willing to undergo extensive training and surgery they go into the Crab spiders.
Female Arachnos agents that display Psi powers are taught to focus them outwardly, if they are gifted enough in Precognition and have higher mental prowess than physical prowess they get shifted into the Fortunatas, a little Psi skill but greater combat skills, into the Night Widows.
If I remember my fluff correctly it goes:
Wolf Spiders: Regular police force.
Crab Spiders: SWAT division.
Bane Spiders: Military Commando unit.

To answer the thread title, there will always be exploits in the game. So, exploits will continue...
-
I just laughed so hard, Hyperstrike.
-
Quote:Honestly my biggest problem with the current exploit is the name of two of my characters.
Munki and MunkiLord. I've had several people over the past few weeks accuse me of naming my characters after the farms and being an AE baby. This despite MunkiLord having close to 400 badges, all the accolades, and almost every blue side TF badge(and being around for at least two years).
Munki is a praetorian that I haven't played nearly as long, so his badge total is much lower.
It's actually kinda irritating.
This is how farms hurt people. Poor, poor Munki.
Random picture, because I think its funny and fits the exploit-the-AE mantra:
-
This is going to sound weird, but...
I consider all Resistance members villainous. They are nothing but deranged terrorists (even Devore admits that Calvin Scott has utterly and completely fallen off the deep end), seeking to destroy a relative utopia. That is why I never play Resistance; I simply feel too evil, too destructive.
All of my toons are either true-blue heroes or psychopathic and homicidal maniacs. -
Me, too. I wasn't saying, Sam, that toons should be deleted. But if anyone uses an exploit, knowing full well that there is a solid chance said toons will be, they shouldn't whine about the actual deleting.
Complain about the mechanic and philosophy, but basically it's like complaining when you put your hand on a hot pan after being told it was hot.

Quote:So the arguments people made where they powerlevelled to 50 where the game was supposed to begin were justified, then? We should have all new players just get powerlevelled to 50? And the claims people made that they couldn't find a decent team which wasn't door sitting and were constantly badgered with bridge and mid requests weren't justified?
Please don't insult my intelligence. If you let people ruin their own fun, they will, and that's a fact. Don't believe me? What do you think would happen if the developers instituted a "Level to 50" button at character creation for every player to use? How long do you think the game would survive? You may or may not be perfectly happy just replaying the level 50 content, but I can tell you this for a fact - the general community will collapse.
Want a very practical example of how people powerlevelling are hurting ME? The prices at Wentworts' are absurd. Yes, they mean I can sell high, but they also mean I can't buy squat. I'm just fortunate enough that I've been playing characters too low for inventions. But that's just on the verge of no longer being the case.

As far as cats go, yes, to allow a cat to overeat to that level constitutes taking poor care of the animal. To allow players to "overeat" constitutes precisely the same level of poor care of the players. And let's not flatter ourselves. "The players" are not better than this. I've seen this more than enough times in the last six years to know better.
And, yes, my grandmother did indeed take care of cats. She never owned any. She was a peasant woman with a large yard where stray cats took shelter and whom she fed. Need I remind you that I don't live in the US, nor did I 20 years ago?
I really wish I could sig' this whole thing, Sam. I have farmed and if tomorrow there were serious repercussions and some toons got deleted, I would not moan about it.
Sam is right; the players, us, are not better then this. It's the human condition. If you think he is wrong, then, humorously enough, you are. This is not some scenario where an opinion can convince the Devs (or the masses) of anything.
I'll call the whambulance. -
I have no strong feelings one way or the other.
