Quote:I would like to add that I LOVE these changes and how they carried over to PvE. They were great improvements, even if many people still don't seem to know about the -Range on Taunt.2. Taunt: adding -75% range to taunt was a good change, it added more usefulness to tanks/brutes/scrappers. Last I tested, the -range effect stacked from the same caster. Not sure if it's intended or not, but it seems somewhat broken. In addition, last time I tested this, base taunt duration was not affected by taunt resistance; only the additional duration granted from enhancements was affected. Fix these 2 bugs and it's a great addition to pvp.
3. Defensive toggles not dropping while being held/mezzed was a good change. -
Note: I am a Role Player, not a PvPer.
I like that it exists, so we have the option if we want it. I've seen it used in RP before, though these days AE usually provides a better option.
I also like the arena, again for RP. We've used it for a quick setting that's going to be free of problems (again, AE can also do this these days, but has different maps), and for small fights that are "too close to judge" in RP, to give an element of chance to who would win.
As to the current rules system, I'm afraid I have to say "Nothing". But that Nothing is better than nothing at all. -
Quote:Oh, I quite agree. However, if you don't put a lot of push behind it, then a new character these days will never get the chance to become iconic.Somehow I don't think you can set out with the direct goal of creating an iconic character from scratch. I think that happens organically as a result of everything else (tangible and intangible) and history's fickle judgement.
Basically, the comic company has to believe they have a hit on their hands and act like it. Usually, they just push a character out and see what kind of reaction they get to it, then let it fade and die. They don't take the risks needed to give it a big showing, and when it's not instantly seen as the next Superman or Batman, it gets tossed into the pile of "normal" characters. -
Installed, and launches both Test and Live just fine.
The buttons on the side COULD stand to be a bit bigger, but I can live with them as-is easily enough.
The EULA and NDA are very hard to read, though. White letters against a light blue background (CoH loading screen) are not very easy to see. -

Part of the problem, I think, is that nobody's putting out the effort to MAKE a new iconic character.
To make a new icon, you need more than just a solid character concept and visual. You need to give him over to writers that can use him/her well. You need video and movie exposure. You need toys, and posters. You need to reign in other writers that want the new guy to show up in their comic, but only to mess with him.
Anything less than a solid idea with the entire company (and more) behind it will just fade into the background. -
Not too long ago, on Virtue, I managed to grab "Stalking".

Quote:Agreed. I think the number of people showing up caught them off guard. It may, however, push the idea of a second Animal booster higher up the list of potential boosters for the future./this
I think they did not anticipate the sheer num,ber of folks that would turn out for the animal pack. The party pack didn't do nearly so well, and for years the devs were stating the party line that they weren't going support turning this into City of Furries.
So now they know just HOW interested players are in the animal pack. As a give-away, it was a victim of poor planning; true. But as a marketing ploy, I think it demonstrated that we the players WANT these kind of boosters. And to me, this makes our efforts to attend a worthwhile endeavor.
I was one of the lucky winners on Freedom (Hurii in Pocket D1). Needless to say, I'm happy. My second account will just have to wait for the pack to go on sale before I can upgrade it. -
I was going to make a big, long post to defend why I think the Devs did some of the things they did, but... my Spider Sense started to tingle. So, I'll leave that for them to do on their own.

Quote:I had the picture up on one computer, and was entering it on the account page on a second. Sadly, my hands shake badly during moments of stress, and it slowed my typing speed badly.*shrug*
I can type 80wmp on a good day.
I also had two browser windows - the 2nd with my account logged in and on the "enter serial code" page.
It was fun to have a shot at it, though. I don't mind losing, so long as I had a fair chance. -
Quote:That would actually work...?Looks like some people are in the coh uploads folder watching for the code pics before the paragon studio staff post links to them.
In that case, they need to make a few pictures, and have only one of them have real codes. Upload them all at once, and then toss out the link to the real one. That way, watching for the link becomes the best bet to get what you're after. -
I don't think anyone's cheating. I just think that a lot of people REALLY want this pack, and they want it NOW.
I'm more than willing to pay for it, I'm just hoping to get it early. -

I missed them all.
I'm guessing that's the only one they'll do on FB. So now, it's the forums or Pocket D. Which both can happen at the same time, and you can't try a code if you're in the game.
I wonder which has the better odds of winning? -
-
It may depend on which Devs go to which server. Some may do it at random, others may look for costumes that just beg for booster upgrades (so they can be shown off and make other people want the booster).

Quote:The last thing on the wall that I can see is the bit about Gamestop having a sale on GR:CC, but people are saying it's already up on Facebook and they've gotten the codes. That's because it hasn't been posted yet.
It'll be posted on the Wall tag when it's posted.
I guess I'll just hope to be lucky in Pocket D. -
Quote:That takes me to something about a free trial and a video, NOTHING that gives me a shot at a code.

Quote:A lot of us are missing it, apparently.AAAAAiiiiiiieeeeeeee. where is it. the facebook one. I WILL be there for the Pocket D one regardless but... where... is... the.... facebook one. Did I miss something?!
It's too late for the Twitter part of it, and at least some of the Facebook stuff is gone too. -

Quote:Yes, now that someone gave me a direct link to it.http://twitter.com/#!/CoH_OCR/status/38660634161840128 - Can you see that?
I do not have a Twitter OR Facebook account, nor did I think they're somehow needed. The pages I've been on are the ones linked to in the announcement, and I STILL see nothing there on either of them.
Thank you for the information. I'll know better next time. -
Quote:But... Not only was it not yet time for the Facebook part of this, but I've been refreshing THAT page too and there's no change I can see.Apparently they were pasted on Facebook. I just ran into someone in the D who was a tiger and they said that's where they got it.
I don't know what's gone wrong here, but it's upsetting to me to know I've been wasting my time.
Can someone point me to where these things were posted, so I'll know for next time, if I ever happen to have a shot at something like this again? Please?
