Quote:Are you kidding? That post needs to be hunted down, shot, stuffed, and mounted on the cubicle wall of the forum mod that gets to it first.o.O
Wow.
I don't think I've seen such an offensive post on these forums before.
Now I'm wondering when this thread will be locked or the post deleted.

Quote:I used something like that in a M: tA PnP game once. "Kit Marks" or "Kitty Kitty Bang Bang", as they were jokingly referred to.I'm not talking about REAL cats.
Nemesis Automatons that LOOK like Cats.
I'm a Cat person. I know how evil them critters can be, and I certainly don't want one out to get me.
Anyway... I think anything along these lines that could be put into current CoH, even if it has to be saved for big zone revamps or new zones, would be cool. -
Quote:The biggest difference is that, in PvP, getting attacked activates it.However I have a question. The Heal Decay thing I totally get... actually I get both sides of that argument from having to referee PvP fights in the past, so I don't have any questions about that. I am curious about travel suppression. How is it different in PvP than it is in PvE?
So, if a sniper shoots you, your super speed slows down to a crawl, and they can keep shooting you. -

Quote:I'm guessing that at the end of Flashpoint, reality itself will "unravel", and someone (Flash?) will have to do their best to reweave it on the fly. They won't be able to save everything, and some threads will slip through their fingers, so they'll just have to make do as best they can and make sure to hit all the big parts. They may leave behind the occasional knot or snarl where things don't seem to make much sense, but with this as a behind-the-scenes explination for it, they can hand-wave it away.MYTH 2: "It's a 'Flash of Light' Reset"
No, a flash of light doesn't change everything without explanation. From all indications, the changes to the DCU will be explained in story, and the place where they get their explanation will likely be Flashpoint #5.
"None of it is a radical flash in the sky and boom, things are different," Scott Snyder told Newsarama of the Bat-verse changes, indicating that readers will understand the reasons behind the DCnU.
Because all of September's #1 issues are supposed to be new reader friendly, this in-story explanation will probably occur in Flashpoint. (That's not surprising, since Geoff Johns has been tasked with explained big revamps before, from Hawkman's history to Green Lantern's resurrection.)
Of course, we expect that most of the changes won't get a highly scientific explanation, and they might actually leave readers scratching their heads. For example, we doubt the exact theories behind how Grifter is suddenly in the DCU will be detailed.
But something does "happen" to cause this. And it happens in continuity, and in story.
---This one really doesnt matter to me. But your mileage may vary.
This is about the only explination that I can think of that makes any sense at all, really. -

If BAB dies, that would make the BAB Gloves salvage a bit more morbid, don't you think?
I don't see him dying, but I can see him getting badly injured and taken out of action. Maybe become a contact for a later TF (or even a SF) to go after something to get him back on his feet. Maybe something in Praetoria or some some rumored healing artifact stuck in the Shadow Shard. -
Quote:This is me.Some of those folks aren't really interested in the group content, but rather the non-group non-incarnate content that is locked in behind it as an incentive to run the trials.
Sure, they run the trials, but they aren't really interested in the trials per se. They're a chore that they do to get the rainbow trail.
Quote:That attitude, and the fact that so many share it is why we won't see a solo path any time soon. The devs may very well be convinced these trials are key to the end game. If that is the case they are going to need you and everyone else spoonfeeding the new players a happy populous successful set of trials.
I'd go so far as to say the more people hate the Itrials, the less likely the devs will get rid of them, If anything they may try upping the rewards again and again. (Note they are already giving away the store with the things as it is) -
Quote:On the bright side, if you stay as a VIP, then you can make the new version on another server, try them out there for a bit, and then if you like them you can transfer them over to a main server with one of the free server transfers. My biggest worry is that I may end up deleting and rerolling a whole bunch of characters with the new proliferation options. I have quite a few who are made as the "next best thing" to their original inception, and newer options may make me start over. I'm long overdue in swapping some Scrappers to Brutes and some Brutes to Scrappers, and this is just more fuel to the fire.

No comment about current iXP levels for the trials? Does that mean it's intended to be like this, or that they've not yet confirmed that there's a problem?

I think it would work better if every few years they jumped the storylines ahead a bit.
Give the writers three years to write stuff for the character as they are now, and at the end of the three years ALL the comics jump forward from whatever point they're at. Advance the world setting three years from the last jump, and decide what happened "off pannel" during the jump.
The writers know it's coming, so they can plan for it. They can have uninteresting advancement happen in the jumps so they don't need to waste time showing it. Have failing books end at the jump, and bring new ones in at that time.
The characters age with the passage of time, but the jumps gives you a chance to spend the entire three years NOT worrying about it if you don't want to. If HeroBoy gets his powers as a Junior in High School, you can spend the first three years telling the story of his Junior year. The next three, him trying to hide his identity in college. If the character doesn't seem viable after that, then end the comic or kill him (passing his powers on to his younger brother in Jr High). -
Maybe Studio 55 needs a Desperate Girl and Turndown Guy?

With all of the titles starting at #1, our creative teams have the ability to take a more modern approach not only with each character, but with how the characters interact with one another and the universe as a whole, and focus on the earlier part of the careers of each of our iconic characters. A time when they didnt have as much experience defeating all their nemeses. A time when they werent as sure of their abilities. A time when they havent saved the world countless times. Its this period that is rich with creative opportunity as we show why these characters are so amazing, so iconic and so special.
Quote:Some yes, some no. But many of the great stories remain. For example Batgirl. The Killing Joke still happened and she was Oracle. Now she will go through physical rehabilitation and become a more seasoned and nuanced character because she had these incredible and diverse experiences.
I'm begining to think DC needs to impliment a company-wide random drug testing policy, ASAP. -
Just to be clear, I'm talking about things like the new auras, the emotes, and the non-incarnate chest symbols.
Not powers, recipes, or the Ascension armors. (The armor's a gray area, but I'm willing to ignore it for now.) Just the cosmetic stuff that, once you unlock it, can be used on anybody. -
It's a pretty simple question, I think.
When i21 hits, will we be able to buy the rewards that currently require Incarnate Merits to unlock?
I know there's some (myself included) that strongly dislike having things like emotes and the non-incarnate chest emblems locked away behind the trials. Allowing you to spend points to unlock these things seems like an obvious solution, but I'm not sure if they'll do it.
Any thoughts/ideas on this? -

Quote:I find that it helps if I don't think of it as going F2P, so much as revamping just what trial accounts can be used for, and revamping the Vet Rewards program.Given the magnitude of idiocy required to make this move I'm not making any assumptions.
The Free accounts are basically trial accounts that can now go up to 50, and don't run out of time. The Premium accounts are like trial accounts that have some extra stuff unlocked as a thank you for having thrown money into the game.
Mostly, this is a change to the accounts they were giving out for free anyway, and a LOT of marketing spin to make it sound like big news. -

If you want someone that knows a wide range of "spells", I'd suggest a look at the Kinetics Buff/Debuff set. It does a wide range of things, with very little overlap on how it's done. Color them different colors, and it should work pretty well for spells.

Revamp the older content. Make mission threads based on a motivation you pick early on, and can change at certan points as you progress.

Quote:It works well for fire-based characters.Of course, we won't mention hasten except to say that I don't know a single player that likes the glowy pom-poms of death. A vital power that destroys every natural, willpower, stealthy concept? Check! (It's bad enough that my sister refuses to take hasten. I won't go that far.)
