    Nope!

If it was, you could turn it back into the wolf.

I think they removed the wolf version of the pet so that they can use the wolf for something else. The sudden outcry for animal MMs when the wolf was seen gives me a good guess what, though there's a slim chance I'm wrong.

    ... I hope I'm not, though.

Replace them with something useful and cool.
Some MMs (I'm not sure about the occasional Controller/Dom) like these powers because they allow them to move their pets with them.

Also, wasn't Group Fly used a lot in the old style Hami-raids?

In fact if you wanted to be picky about this it was probably "harder" to put Null the Gull into the game (from a software point of view) than it would have been to have simply added new options in the existing Options Menu.
Given that Null added himself to the game the first time he appeared, I'd say it's not that hard at all.

But seriously... Messing with the UI gives them a chance to break the UI. The choice to turn these effects off was put in quickly. Null was a way to put them in with less chance of something going wrong than trying to quickly add in changes to the UI, as minor as they may be. He doesn't seem all that different than a difficulty adjustment NPC in terms of how he works, they just changed what settings he adjusts and the other differences are all cosmetic and text. There's still a chance that they could have messed something up, but it was less of a chance and took less programmer time to do it.

All that having been said, I do hope they add these things to the full UI menu sometime, but keep Null around to talk with.

    Sad, but true.

What they think the player base is like is included, but the actual player base seems to be a bit beyond their current grasp when it comes to big plans.

Having an idea what's coming might give us more time to yell and try to convince them to change things, but it would also be a first step towards putting things in stone for the future. That would make it harder for them to change the plans very much at all. I don't think it would be a net gain.

Who says relying on villains can't be heroic in this case?

Dr Aeon has made the Web, which can drain the powers of just about every meta in the world at once. Surely, he can come up with something more portable for use against just Cole. And nobody builds a gigantic death ray like a supervillain.

I see a fight where, every time Cole powers up to fight us off, we have to hit him with draining devices. The devices feed into an orbital death cannon we've mounted on Anti-Matter's space station. When it's charged, everyone has to get clear before it fires, blowing away part of his power and allowing us to hurt him again for a while. Villain tech, villain thinking, but still heroic.

Actually, I don't think I did. Apparently what you are talking about and what I thought you were talking about are two quite different things.

Now, how much new incarnate stuff have we seen lately? Most of the 'new' stuff lately has had to do with our being soldiers in the Praetorian war in one way or another. I think that's the "gimmick" the OP is talking about. To put it in comics terms, we're spending too much time in the big summer crossover, and not enough time progressing the story in our own comics.

At least, I think that's what he's saying. I'll admit, I might be way off on this one.

Side Note: You have to exclude Twinshot's arcs from your list, because of where they land you at the end.

As to the OP, I think you have a point. Maybe we need a bit more focus on stories set within the CoH world and how our characters interact with it. Normal, standard story arcs, that have nothing to do with the Praetoria/Incarnate plotline.

How many of those have we seen lately?

Anyway, I'd REALLY like it if, at the end, we told Promethius to go jump off a cliff, and delt with Cole our own way.

Forget whatever stupid plan he may have. We have our own way of doing things. Ways involving mad science, and letting some of our villains call the shots. WE should be the ones responsible for our winning the fight. We shouldn't be there as someone's minions.

An insane religious fanatic that has removed all of the "impure" flesh from his body, trying to purify himself. Of course, what is closeness to God if you don't share it? People may object... and cry... and scream... and bleed... but in the end, they'll surely thank you.
  13. I've got it here, too. As the others have said, it started with the most recent patch.

    What else have I missed?
Brutes are Fire. They're an awesome force to behold once they're going, but they need to consume everything in their path. If they have nothing to feed on, they fade away to nothing. Playing one means you always want to keep hitting things, and if you stop you become a very weak scrapper until you get rolling again.

Tanks are Earth. They are the rocks upon which others shatter themselves. They're not fast, but they're dependable. Playing one well means you can survive things that would kill just about anyone else, and that's where the real fun is.

Scrappers are Air. They move as they please, landing in an area, filling it with chaos, and then moving on when they're ready. They can't take the damage a Tank can take, but they don't need to work to keep themselves going like a Brute does. Impulse and luck are the Scrapper's way.

Stalkers are Water. They may seem all wet, but once they get into your house, you'll soon find that the "harmless little drip" does a lot of damage. Squishier than most, playing one solo is mostly about jumping out and going "Boo! Got your spleen!", and then dealing with your victim's upset friends. Playing one on a team means you may not get to use your big attack very often, but you can still do good damage to start things off, or help with stealthing missions. Except for ambushes, playing a Stalker tends to let you pick and choose if you really want to bother with most of the fights in a mission or not.
  15. I expect [Wolf Pet], at least. If you call up the power info, the icon for the power is the same as the Vet reward pets. As I recall, they don't use that symbol for any pets earned in-game.

Maybe they've fixed whatever the problem was with the costume powers, and they'll put them back in too.

And if a player model, then they need attacks, which all have to animated, and so, it will be a limited set of attacks; which may be fine for an attack pet, but you all know the players will bristle against the limitations.
I could see them as an alternate choice for Kheld's Nova forms. Replace the flight with some good ground speed and defense, give them melee attacks, then let the player choose one or the other powers, but not both. (Actually, let them choose both. And kiss all their enhancement slots goodbye.)

I fully expect the animal body to be used for some MM pets at some point. Maybe even a "turn to wolf" movement power.

Tell me something, if you would be so kind...

Would Golden Girl, the character you play as a hero, REALLY just walk away and leave Katie there because "it might be useful someday"? Knowing where she is and the kind of horrors she's going to be subjected to, knowing that you could get a bunch of people together and get her out RIGHT NOW, would Golden Girl really just leave and do nothing? Would she really think that's the right thing to do?

If she really thinks that the potential ends justifies what's going to happen, then congratulations. Cole would be proud of Golden Girl for finally coming to see things his way.

My HEROES, however, would not leave things like that. Hell, most of my Villains wouldn't, either.

Grym: Everybody believes that? This can't be true. Your world is in the grasp of some very dark illusion, and I'll do my best to dispel it.

And then, later, something involving Grym teaching dogs to talk... and succeeding.

That would be awesome. But... of course, we don't even get a chance to tell Grym of his mistake. And I bet nothing along those lines ever happens.

ADD: So, n o, this isn't a clever "fish out of water" story, which I'd be a number one fan of. So, yes, they're acting like idio, strike that, "comic relief characters." With a cliché justification for their behaviour, to make things worse. And why they needed 3 of them, if they barely had any good jokes to make one such character work?
I would like to point out that they can always add more with these characters at a higher level. Also, in arcs 2 and 3, Grym starts to stand out as a very reliable team member. He may be odd, but he's serious and competent.

Given that they've worked out non-combat wolf models now (re: the upcoming Halloween trial and the [Wolf Pet] power), we may even see him talking to a dog or two if he shows up again.

If Cap, Tony, and Thor have enough of hard time respecting and being willing to follow each other, I think it'd ring false if they looked to Black Widow and Hawkeye and fall in line just because they're doing the same.
Well, it's safe to assume that Black Widow and Hawkeye know each other well enough to work together.

Hawkeye's seen Thor fight without his powers, and he liked what he saw. Thor's going to likely look at Hawkeye and see a good warrior that uses an "honest" weapon and skill instead of just grabbing a gun and spraying bullets everywhere. I think he'll like that. So, those two can fall into line with each other.

Stark knows Widow, and I think he respects her a bit. He's more willing to listen to her than he would to any of the others, I'd bet. Widow knows what Stark can do, and how to play him to get what she wants from time to time. So, these two can also fall into line with each other.

I see both Hawkeye and Widow looking at Cap with a great deal of respect, and falling into line beside him. That makes Cap the center of the team, with the two "normal" people pulling the others towards him. Stark will be the hardest to bring in, at least until Banner gets pissed. None of them have good ties to Banner.

    So I either have to:

    1) Give up more of my privacy to Facebook than I want to

    2) Violate Facebook's ToS

    or

    3) Do without

And that's for just the first account. I have two, so I'd need two seperate accounts for the two codes.

I'll stick with #3, then. I don't care how many choose #2 and get away with it, it's still something NC Soft shouldn't be pushing people to do.

Thanks for at least telling me I'll never be getting it, now I can stop waiting for it to show up in the store.

Actually, the shield is a mix of adamantium and vibranium. It has some rather unusual kinetic properties. Anything that hits is isn't supposed to be able to transfer any kinetic energy through to him at all, as I understand it.
  24. I'll also toss out Angel Links. She may act pretty tough for most of the show, but she has her clearly "young lady" moments too.
  25. Would Lina Inverse (of Slayers) count? She's about 16 or so in the first series, and most of the specials (with Naga) happened before that.
