Quote:Why?I definitely like the look, but it'd have to fit a theme, y'know? Like the "Colonial Marines costume set" for example. Or perhaps a general scifi set.
Wasn't one of the benefits of Freedom supposed to be that it will open it up to single/limited items, such as the fireman's hat? What's wrong with making a new gun all by itself and tossing it out on the market? -
Quote:Z, I find that fingernails actually deter motivation. If said manager doesn't have good news by next meeting, I suggest you start removing his/her fingernails with a pair of pliers. Trust me, you will see an INSTANT increase in motivation. The log out issue is definitely a priority for us here at Paragon, and the web team in Seattle is working on it. This goes on a list of things such as getting the character copy tool working and fixing the Hero skin.
I've been meeting with the manager of the web team every week. This issue is not falling by the wayside as we continue to communicate it as a priority.
Note: Does not appear to work on cats. -
Quote:There are female members of the Paragon Police Force. I've seen a few, at least one while she was having her purse stolen by a Hellion.I don't think there's a single female police officer between Paragon, RI and Praetoria and most of the enemy groups seem to be a boys only club (Wyvern, Sky Raiders, GBs, Malta, Tsoo, Trolls, Council, Prisoners, Lost, etc). Even some of the co-ed groups only have one female type in the whole faction (Hellions, Freakshow)
And I still fail to see why at least one pet per MM tier couldn't use the female model.
I think they need to come out with an Amazonian MM set once Titan Weapons and Staff Melee are out. Teir 1 uses staves, Teir 2 uses Sword and Shield, and Teir 3 uses a Titan Weapon. Make 'em big, buff, and awesome. But first, Animal MMs. -
Quote:I have to agree. Just what is the feedback thread FOR, then? But, I will say, I REALLY don't like the 'this stuff is done so far in advance that by the time the players actually see it in beta, there is no time for our feedback to mean a damn and actually get something changed' comment. That's a HORRIBLE way of doing things.
-
I'll be buying the full set, as I think the chaps will work well on a biker I have, and the female options are just what I need for the "cheap Pocket D trash" character I have in mind.
-
My characters tend to take the view that there's several things (some related, some not) that go by the name "werewolf". By and large, they're not suprised in the least when the encounter some variation they've never met before. Ditto that for other weres, vampires, "True" mages, ect...
I think this is the best way to go with it. Don't get hung up on the names, someone else will use the same name for something quite different. Just shrug, accept it, and deal with the charcter. It's the character that's important, not the name. -
Quote:Right here.I have never heard people complain that. Even on failed UG groups. It's pretty much given that UG is harder than the other trials by alot that requires people to be on point. Which is why people run it with friends or SGmates.
I was told that a UG was forming and a general invite was tossed out. I replied that I would go, but the character I was working on had no level shifts. The reply was to bring her anyway, it would be fine and I'd gain a lot of progress towards unlocking the 4 slots (Alpha was open, but not teir 3 yet).
Things were hectic but pretty good until the very end. The end was horrible, I spent more time confused than useful, and there was so much going wrong I couldn't ask questions and get useful answers to know what to do now. I got Breakfrees every trip to the hospital, downed them like mad, and STILL wound up worse than useless.
And I mean that last part literally. I could not fire off ANY power during that fight without fear that I'd become confused before it went off, and hit the wrong side with it. As a Plant/Emp Controller, there was a LOT I could screw up, too. I don't know if I did more bad than good during that fight, but I know I wound up being useless. And if I hadn't been there, maybe things would have been easier. Maybe they would have won. Did I cost them that fight, and waste all their time? I don't know, but if I didn't, I surely added to the problem.
I don't like raids, but I did this because people told me I should try it. It was a mistake, and one I have no desire to repeat. It was awful, and I'm complaining. Thank gods for an upcoming solo option where the only person I have to screw up the day for is myself. -
Quote:Nah. Brass is upset because he's NOT Batman.Batman could bridge those gaps.
Marshal Brass might be Batman.
Batman doesn't stand around and whine about how people with powers don't understand what it's like to be "normal". Batman goes out and beats them up.
Brass doesn't do that. He's not even an arbiter. If he was found stuffed into the fridge in an arachnos base, they'd only be upset because it meant someone stole all the beer that was in there before him. No one cares about Marshal Brass. -
Quote:Sidetracking for just a moment to address this: Most of the time, I see each character as the star of their own story. That doesn't mean, however, that they live in different worlds from each other. There are times when it makes sense that they would run into each other, much like how Spider Man sometimes shows up in someone else's comic. I see that as part of the idea behind this power. (And if you have a Wolverine clone, you too can have him turn up ALL the damned time, everywhere.)I'm mystified by the amount of support there is for this idea. I know there are players who make characters that know each other, are related to each other, part of some grand internal fanfic, etc., but I didn't know it was that common. The fun for me in character creation is to make up something new and unique. I wouldn't use that temp power any more than any other out there.
There's also cases where you want specific types of characters to exist together for background/RP reasons. As an example, I have a small SG of second-generation Midnighters that grew up together. It would be unfair of me to expect someone else to play one of the trio how I want them to be played for the story, so I play them all myself. It would be awesome to have them together in a mission for once, though.
[Edit] And if it's not clear, I really REALLY like the idea of the Summon Alt power. -
Quote:In a future SSA, DeadHero will return alive, as if nothing was really wrong. We'll get to go check out their grave, only to find it empty.Epic thread necromancy indeed, but the gravity of it is justified. Can't say it wasn't expected.
This really makes me wonder if whoever dies in the current Signature Story Arc will actually remain dead.
Eventually, we'll discover that the revived DeadHero is really a Nemesis robot of DeadHero that has malfunctioned and thinks it's really the hero, and he/she will get to "die" all over again.
The body of the real DeadHero? Dug up by some Vahz, stuffed full of machine parts, and currently serving as an animatronic attraction at the Kings Row Chuck-E-Cheeze. Dr V needed the cash. -
Mostly, they need to sell things to use in-battle.
A 5 minute summons of a MM pet (no controls, it works like a normal combat pet).
The various temp powers that already exist in the game. Iron Sword, Kinetic Shield, Chaingun, ect...
Warburg Nukes, and Bloody Bay Shivans.
One-shot Judgement/Destiny powers (likely only useable by level 50 characters).
A 15-30 minute temp power that grants Super Speed. (We have them for flying and super jump, after all.)
A one-use version of Inner Inspiration, with no timer on how soon you can use another. (The lack of timer will encourage people to use a bunch of them if they're low in Insps and about to need a boost.) -
First, the exclusive stuff has got to either go, or become non-exclusive.
I'd suggest that they be put in as is, but later they need to be put into the store like normal. Maybe rotate which of the ATIOs is for sale every week, so that you can get specific sets if you wait, or you can buy packs and hope.
Beyond that, though, is what else is in the Super Packs. The simple fact is, I think they're selling the wrong things. If they want people to buy them and keep buying them, then they need to fill them with things that people KEEP reusing and needing/wanting more of.
Something to upgrade an ATIO? Nope, not going to be using those left and right. The Chaingun temp power? Oh yeah, THAT I'll use. And if it's for a limited number of uses, and only claimable by one character, then I'll need another for the next character even if the first still has charges on it.
Most of the temp powers you can get in the game would be good for this. Iron Sword, Kinetic Shield, Bow and Arrow, Prismatic Taser... all useful, at least at low levels. There's options for new powers, too. A one-use (no timer) version of Inner Inspiration, for example. Or maybe a 5 minute duration summons of a non-controlled version of one of the MM pets? Very Rare chance of a Shivan or Warburg nuke, maybe?
Give us things we use in battle, not things we use when we're checking our notes and carefully planning out our build or shopping at the market. Market/Build stuff might be valuable, but it's not as intense as actual combat. I'm far more likely to use a temp power on impulse because that EB is a bit too tough, or because while I can Foostomp those Rikti....it's a <bleep>ing CHAINGUN, and that's just more fun!
Final thought (for now):
I would suggest that, if you do wish to put costume stuff in there, you also include account-wide unlocks for things like the Dragon Wings and Rocket Boots that are currently recipe drops in-game. That does open up the idea of also making the costume sets in the Super Packs available in-game as recipe drops. I do not think that would work as well, however, as there's a big difference between trying to get one item (wings) as compared to trying to get every item in a full set. -
If the power is coming from outside, then it's Magic.
If the power is coming from within, and their faith is only used to channel it, then it's Natural. -
I expect something far too slow and annoying to be practical. Then, hopefully, they'll listen to enough feedback to make it a bit better, though still not as good as it should/could have been.
I expect it in 2nd Quarter of 2012, at the earliest. It would not surprise me if we wait nearly a year for it, especally as they'll keep putting other things before it, so that it keeps getting pushed back.
I expect only a hand full of missions, which we will all quickly grow deathly tired of.
I expect that you'll be able to earn a few Astral merits and one Emp merit a day. I do NOT expect threads to drop, as you could then farm the missions for just the threads to speed things along.
I expect a possible Common/Uncommon salvage drop every few missions or after every big mission. I do NOT expect Rare or Very Rare salvage to be rewarded this way at all. That's what the Emp merits are for, after all.
I do NOT expect them to directly grant iXP for doing the solo path.
I do NOT expect them to change the Inf cost of turning threads into iXP, or adding in an option to turn an Emp merit in for a huge chunk of iXP. They should do these things, but I don't expect it will happen.
I expect that any new slots will use new currancy. Shards will be able to be converted to the new currancy, but threads and the such will not. This will make the solo path worthless for the next group of slots, and force us to iTrial them until such time as they're ready for the next big thing and finally add in Incarnate Gobstoppers (or whatever it will be) into the solo path. -
To quote the Tom Smith song "Rocket Ride":
"....
Give me a villain with style and grace, and a little bit of fencing skill.
They used to be angular, sneering, and bald.
If someone got killed even they were appalled.
They tried to marry the heroine, no thought of ****,
and they sure as hell knew how to wear a cape!
They never tortured, they never lied.
They'd honor a promise if it meant they died.
Let's find a villain with professional pride.
Come on with me, baby, on a rocket ride!" -
Quote:I think there's more to Flamebeaux than we've seen so far, and I'd like to see it get played out.never really understood why people hate fusionette, while flamebeaux is delibrately made to be annoying as hell
If you read her bio, it states that she developed a process that gives/gave her the powers she has. This suggests she's not an idiot, but every time you see her she acts like one.
I can't help but suspect that the process that creates her powers has done something to her mind, that a brilliant person with a heart of gold took the leap to put themselves on the line to help others, only to lose much of who they are in the process. It would be nice to see a storyline touch on this, even if it comes to a tragic ending. -
Quote:Actually, Manticore does have a power. Teleport Arrow. It hurts when you get hit with it, either in RV or in Recluse's strike force. I'm sure someone out there has a screenie of it. It's too late for my mind to work tonight, so I'm not going to log back on and grab one, but if no one posts one before tomorrow evening, I'll try to remember to post a pic of its info. Link to a pic of the CCG version of it below.
http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/COHCCG/Teleport_Arrow
KQuote:That's not necessarily a power as it could be a gadget arrow. Given how much he emphasizes he has no powers I think it's safe to say it's the specific arrow that does the trick and not that Manticore actually does anything to make it do that. He just doesn't give the trick to making them to anyone so only he gets to use it.
And you know given the unpopularity of Twinshot's arc maybe a rewrite wouldn't hurt >> Will be kind of disappointed if it does rule him out. Mostly because he's probably the one I'd offer up for sacrifice XD
Edit: You know, looking over how often the heroes show up in various missions, it really seems like killing someone is going to involve more rewrites to villainside content than heroside, excepting the Signature Taskforces (assuming they don't just hand them off to a new NPC).
In the hands of anyone else in the group, though, it would be pretty worthless. None of them have shown the skill to shoot a bow or other ranged weapon, much less with the skill to use it in a fight against metahumans. That's why I put the word nothing in quotes. For anyone else, it would be a non-power until they took a lot of time to practice at using it. The power is useless without the skill. -
Quote:I used to think that about all the other Emp/Astral costume unlocks. Please note that you STILL can't buy those in the store. Not to worry, I'm sure we'll be able to buy it from the store too.
Their trial design for the incarnate stuff NEEDS lots of people to be running them. So, they're not going to remove any of the things people run them for. -
The pillar can take the powers from one person and put them into another. It can't affect Numina or Citadel (in theory), but the others are fair game.
I'm hoping that it shifts some of the powers around. Statesman can get Positron's power. Manticore can get Synapse's power. And so on.
After the power switch, someone loses control of Positron's power, and vaproizes Synapse (likely holding Manticore's power of "nothing"). This sets the powers in place for good. -

Agreed. It's ugly as hell, and it needs to stop.
