  1. I PuG almost exclusively, pretty much paying no heed to team composition or level ranges and only on rare occasions the team performs subpar.

PuGs have a pretty undeserved reputation, so I'm not surprised to see people praising their pick-up teammates.

  3. There's a few inherent differences between Planetside and CoH, the most important one being that Planetside is a purely PvP game and what you describe sounds like a long stream of hauling equipment from point A to point B just so one could get to the "playing" part and if the elimination of the grind caused the playerbase to plummet, well...

Back on the topic of CoH, I'm not asking for a reduction of travel time - only loading time. Neither the base teleport nor Ouroboros drop you off at the mission door - you still have to hoof it from the drop point to the mission itself. I'm just suggesting making the middle point optional - the zone you enter, then turn around and leave as soon as it's done loading. To try a make a flowcharty representation..

    Currently:
Ouroboros portal -> [Loading screen] Ouroboros -> Pick an Ouroboros-connected zone [Loading screen] -> Run from zone drop point to mission door

    Proposed:
Ouroboros portal -> Pick an Ouroboros-connected zone -> [Loading screen] -> Run from zone drop point to mission door

With similar principle applied to bases. It skips not the actual travel distance, but the loading of zones you'll spend only the amount of time needed to jump to your final destination.
  4. A simple {in concept, anyway, SCR applies} suggestion - considering how much use Ouroboros and bases see purely for the sake of inter-zone travel, it might be useful to simply skip the middleman and allow for direct travel to connecting zones.

For example, clicking on the Ouroboros portal, instead of automatically transporting you to Ouroboros could provide a train-style list of Ouroboros and the zones it connects to {Atlas, Indy, Talos etc.}, thus eliminating the middleman and the attached loading times. Ditto for bases - if a base a player can enter has teleport pads, the available zones are attached to the list of bases one can enter without having to load and navigate said base to reach the teleport pad to where you want to go.

    Thoughts?
  5. It's simple enough - just right-click on your chat window and select "Join Channel", then type in the channel's name. The channel itself will then be automatically added to the chat tab. To talk in it, just right-click on the chat window again and select the channel name from the dropdown.

Considering the seemingly arbitrary clicking "hitboxes", the tendency of the cursor to select something that's right behind you and the general free-for-all chaos of many fights, it tends to be harder and more imporantly, time-consuming than it sounds.

More specific. When dealing with robots, I've got to be more specific.
  7. I have a similar gripe - that of when a target becomes invalid {usually due to a severe case of death}, the power you fire will automatically target the closest valid target to you, something that tends to screw up my aim very, very often, especially with AoEs. Thus, if you're attempting a power on an invalid target, it might be better if the reticle switches to the target closest to the invalid target, instead of closest to you.

Also, a /target_center_near {far, next, previous etc} for targets closest to being in front of you would be nice.
  8. Personally, I'm holding out for a "Quest for Glowy" badge.
  9. Sometimes you can try something obvious and get plain lucky. A while back I scored both Glassjaw {down-and-out boxer brute} and Dot Dot Dot {a japanese RPG character parody}.
  10. Extra feedback is always useful.

Arc ID: 61156, "Grim and the Green"

    Enemies: Go. Hunt. ReDim $Skuls
Level Range: 1-14, but for testing purposes, as well as minimizing clash with canon, the lower the better.
    Warning: Wordiness alert.
  11. I've tried buying it, but no luck - the store page doesn't give a price or in fact any way of actually buying the game. Anyone know if it's got to do with the fact that I'm in the Grand Dutchy of Yurp, instead of You Knighted Stayeds of Merka?
  12. Yes you were. So was he, and I'll get to that in a moment, but I'm going to fly in the face of most posts here and claim that the bigger offense was on your side.

He made his position clear to you. Aggravated tone notwithstanding, he wasn't rude. Not polite, certainly, but far from crossing the line into rudeness. You might not agree {and for that matter, neither do I}, but that's beside the point - considering that his opinion didn't intrude on your affairs it should have been, if not respected, then at least acknowledged and accepted. And while you should have let him be, you decided to escalate the conflict for no practical reason, leading to the exchange you provided, further annoying and alienating another player which might have invited you into his team under different circumstances in return for no beneficial results for either of you.

As for his argument, it is my experience that leadership can be perceived as a burden when one would prefer to simply relax thus preferring to follow instead, as is the fact that in some cases such initiative, i.e. tracking down a specific type of character in lieu of simply broadcasting can be seen as a positive trait. However, this was demonstrably not the case on this particular occasion.

    Worst Mobs Ever.

I'm only prejudiced against Nemesis. Vengeance and AoE damage for anything combat-based, and the protection against Confuse and Fear, plus apparent resistances against Hold and Sleep... blech.

    Nemesis hax.
  14. Personally, I'd love a Recall Across Zones for a T5 teleportation pool.

Quite a few times, I've seen low level characters arrive in the bowl, be quickly dispatched by the Rikti, and spend the remainder of the raid licking mothership dirt while soaking in that sweet, sweet level 54 Rikti experience, no matter how many times I tell them to go to the hospital. "Oh, I'm just waiting for a small red to drop." "Dude, you've been dead for the past 20 minutes."
    Boottothehead?

Seriously, don't invite <Lv35 characters on your raid teams and problem solved. If one zone is too clogged to assemble a decent raid, move to the other instance {coughorincreasethemaxzonepopulationcough}. As for me, I like taking my lowbie teammates anywhere I damn well please.

Ditto, I'd pay for that emote.

  21. There might be a point there. On the whole, the only complaint is that there are missions that cannot be dropped but are too difficult to solo for some builds until they're far outleveled. Doesn't that indicate a problem with the missions rather than the system? Thus, investigating those missions and scaling the offending part down to manageable levels would solve that problem. On the matter of retaining the challenge for those who feel they can tackle them as they are now, well, anyone who can solo +4 EB/AVs is a better man than I.

  23. Hmm, I might have underestimated the difficulty of some missions for some powersets. I'd suggest teaming to overcome the difficulty, but I'm hardly fond of the idea of forcing playstyles on people. One way of dealing with it might be adding a -2 difficulty option, but that might be abusable to a point.

As for Ouroboros, it allows for repeatable running of any given arc. That, plus the level restrictions and the number of steps that would need to be taken to implement a way to list all missions available {though I would be anything but opposed} sounds much higher.
  24. Jennifer Hale for Lady Gray, no discussion.

    Jay Anthony Franke as Manticore.
