I am assuming that by "full retail box" he/she is referring to the complete collection that includes the item pack. If I'm wrong about that then the numbers are different (but still in favor of my suggestion).

Complete collection is $40. Prepurchase is $30. Thus total cost of both is $70.

Prepurchase is $30. Month of play is $15. Total cost is $45.

    $70 - 45 = $25

The cheapskate .... er, value shopper ... in me would wait until July for the boxed package, and free month. But, the obsessive-compulsive completionist in me wants the new powersets NAO!

Well played, Paragon Studios. Well played.
Financially you're better off getting the pre-purchase and then just buying the item pack in July, unless the item pack costs $25, which it won't.

Yep, that is exactly what I'm going to do.

Given the trend toward more accessibility (e.g Supersidekick) I'd be surprised if it was level gated at all. At the very least I'd expect it not to be gated higher than maybe 10 or 15.

Clicking the Quick Reply icon took me to the full Quote editing window and didn't allow me to use the Quick Reply that I was trying to get to. I don't like having to fight my addons to do what I normally do. Yeah, I know I can temporarily allow this site or always allow it, but it's more trouble than I want to deal with.

I'll pass on this one. Especially since I basically only use Firefox for testing sites that are work related or that format themselves to look nasty in IE but ok in Firefox. Yeah, there are a few. And some that refuse to run in IE at all.

I passed on NoScript for some of the same reasons. It's possible to get it to play nice with sites like this, but not without some fiddling. I used it on my computer at work for a long time since I had a need to keep that more secure than my home machines. But when they rolled out a new interactive Intranet site I had to get rid of it there, too, since it was just too much of a hassle to get it to work.
  7. Update: I've uninstalled AVG completely and it's working fine. Reinstalling now without the stupid Toolbar and we'll see if it still works....

Edit: Yup that's the culprit. I still have the AVG Safe Search 8.5 extension after reinstalling, but the Toolbar is gone (it had already been disabled before the uninstall anyway). It works now.

So for anyone else with this problem, do you have the AVG Toolbar? Even if it is disabled, looks like it may be causing problems.

Also, are you coming in through the boards.cityofheroes.com address or one of the others such as boards.cityofvillains.com or boards.coh.com or uk.boards.cityofheroes.com etc.

If you are using one of the latter, try the boards.cityofheroes.com address and see if that resolves the problem. You can set the Theme to be the Villain theme even though the address is a Hero address.
Yeah I plan to install SP2 this week. Just haven't gotten to it yet. Logging in through boards.cityofheroes.com

The XP machine with no add-ons is fine. Dunno whether that means it's a Vista problem or and Add-on problem, but I suspect the latter.
  9. I'm glad you started this thread. I'm having nothing but problems. It took me about six login attempts just to get to the point where I can post - I hope it will post this. If not I'll switch to IE to post.

I'll troubleshoot on my own on a machine that has no addons yet and see what I can come up with. For now here's what I've got:

OS Version (including whether 64-bit or 32-bit and Service Pack versions)
Vista 64-bit, Home Premium SP1 (I know, I know... Windows 7 is on preorder already!)

    Firefox Version: 3.0.12

Installed Extensions, including version numbers if available
Adblock Plus 1.1 (may be a good candidate for troublemaker?)
AVG SafeSearch 8.5 (May be a better candidate)
AVG Security Toolbar 2.506.014.001 (also a candidate)
    Cooliris 1.11.1
    Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant 1.1
    Screengrab 0.96.1

    Installed Themes
    None

Installed Plug-Ins including version numbers if possible.
    Adobe Acrobat
    Cooliris embedded in a tab
    Java Platform SE 6 U11 (1.6.0_11)
Microsoft Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin
    Mozilla Default Plugin
    Shockwave Flash 10.0 r22
    Silverlight Plugin 2.0.31005.0
    Windows Live Photo Gallery
    Windows Presentation Foundation

Meanwhile it's funny you mention Light Poles around where I live people "break"* into light poles all the time to steal the wire to sell as salvage, it's a huge problem. Heck maybe Paragon has the same problem.

*Actually they pop off the access plate and pull the wire out.

Seriously, assuming you missed the EULA, what's that going to amount to?

    Let's see. $14.99/month = $14.99/30 days (about) = $.50/day = $.50/24 hours = $.02/hour

Yep they should credit all our accounts for what, about 8 cents?

    (edit to fix rounding error)
  15. That had to be the best Posi run I've ever done. If that's any indication of the way this SG is going to work together, then we're in for a hell of a great time.

I'm looking forward to some more teaming. Who's off on Monday for Pres Day? I am - seems like a fitting time to get some teaming in, so I'll probably be on with Sleetstorm and/or Quasadu (who I still need to get in to the SG).

Can't say I approve. It doesn't really look very nice aesthetically,
and poorly imitates the simple-but-functional effectiveness of the
    old version.

The "blockiness" of the graphics used looks full of seams, very
unnatural and rough, and the choice of an image background,
makes them contrast very poorly with it, like a bad cut and
    paste job.

The news feed needs to be at the top somehow, like the old
version provided. Pushing it down to make room for the
"LEARN MORE" part is bad design.

Is this a work in progress, or the final version? Because it
    looks very alpha right now.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree with all of this and will also add that the "Server Status" page is pretty ridiculous. We don't need a huge picture of Sates by every server, and we don't want to scroll down a whole page to see if Test is up. In fact, we don't need a server status page. We need a server status block in the upper right corner of the main page.

Needs more negative space; fewer huge, flashy pictures; rounded edges on the blocks; and smaller fonts.
  18. We were told that the slots would be granted by logging on within a limited time. Not that they would be revoked if not used within a limited time.

I know Hallowed just posted this, but it bears reading again:

For a limited time, all accounts that log into the Live Servers will receive 2 free Character Slots. This is for a *Limited* time only.

For a Limited time, Log in, get free slots.

No mention of "Use 'em or lose 'em."

Now, I've used mine, because I desperately needed them right away. But you told us one thing - stick to it, if for no one else, then for the sake of the people who don't read the forums. They got their email explaining how it works, let it work the way you told them it would.

Is it just me, or does it seem like the RMTers are really upset about the new trial account limitations?

Upset enough that they just might be using those brand new trial accounts to make brand new forum accounts to post on the forums in hopes of getting the trial limitations reversed.

    Hmmmm... we may never know.

I whole heartedly encourage folks to buy up my crap andgive me my auction spaces back.

I used to sell all my salvage for 6 as well, buut some of it just sits there for so long that I end up deleting it.

I've tried advertising in broadcast that I have a whole load of FREE salvage. No one ever volunteers to take it off my hands.
Thats the definitely the right price for turning aprofit w/ it.

So buy my junk and make money w/ it. Take my give-a-ways and make some money. I need the room for more valuable things.
