You mean like telling them to bid low and be patient? Because that's pretty much the advice everyone has given, always, to this complaint. NOW, or cheap; pick one.

The low drop rates of common salvage. Okay.

  2. I'd call myself a semi-casual marketeer with some bursts of deeper dedication when I get fixated on some idea or scheme.

My normal routine is to hop on twice a day (once in the morning before work, and once when I get home from work) with a few additional check-ins on Saturdays and Sundays. I will sometimes skip days at a time and not log in at all, but this is typical.

Most of my income is from buying recipes/salvage and crafting to sell the enhancements. I pull in probably around 100 million a day doing this.

I also do some salvage flipping on the side with another toon but I don't put a lot of thought or effort into it. That nets me maybe 10 million a day on a good day.

There are times when I'll get some idea that I want to pursue - candy canes has been lucrative for me and even though I'm out of surplus I'm still bringing in about 20-40 million a day on that. But when the season is over I don't expect to look for a way to replace that income. Or maybe I will find some other scheme. DXP will certainly be profitable.

So in total I guess right now I'm making 125-150 million a day. Every once in a while it might spike much higher than that, or I might miss a few days, but I think that's average.

If you prefer to wait until level 35 and collect merits to unlock them on every character, feel free to not use them. For me, I was completely ignoring these pieces on most characters because I wasn't interested in collecting the merits, and even less so now that those merits can be saved for an Incarnate component.

    That's true, good point.

So I agree with Turg, for completely different reasons.
Yes, but if you're fighting level 21 mobs and you sidekick up to level 25 but the mobs are still level 21, then you are earning lesser rewards. The rewards are based on your level AND the relative level of the enemies you are fighting.

I'm with UberGuy on this one - I would not object if the rewards stayed the same, but I would be surprised.
  7. Those asking for a Ranged or Assault Primary with a Defensive secondary might want to try a Bane Spider, because that's pretty much what they are.

Sounds like a visit to the test server is in order - let us know the results!

I've always wondered why it is click-to-expand but you have to expand something else to contract again. I don't know why there isn't a button to expand/contract each item. Seems like that is the way it should be.

Basically, we determined that when a bunch of people list the same thing for the same price, then the order in which the sales take place depends on the order in which the items are listed. It's not FIFO. It's not LIFO. It seemed to be a random order, but it was always the exact same sequence.

Of course, there's a chance that the market merge or the interface update have affected that behavior.
Maybe alphabetical order by character name that listed it?

I'm guessing it's checking against a database of the items listed so it makes sense that it would be sorted first by list price and then by character name.

Bottom line, price fixing like that ends up with 3 outcomes. People with more inf than patience pay. Patient people get to wait to have their fun. Little kids get to have their play experience crapped on so some marketeer can go destroy a billion inf to feel special.

They have unlimited access to common IOs in the family base. They are frequently gifted with 5-6 piece sets for characters they really like. When they get a drop they want to do up, its something they can do for themselves to learn to be self sufficient and play the game on their own two feet. Dealing with self centered jerks is just part of life, and this is a good lesson I suppose though I would rather they weren't forced to do it in their leisure time gaming.
#1 - You might want to introduce your kid to Architect Entertainment, where a single story arc (often a single mission) will give him enough tickets to get whatever common salvage he needs.

#2 - The market is a minigame. If you want to play, you have to play. It's not a store.
  12. Awesome.

And I totally want a Collander Helmet That Sprays Streams of Water Out of Every Hole. Make it happen, Jay!

  14. Highest bid goes to lowest seller, so Hero A sells his for 10,000 (minus 1,000 in market fees).
  15. Just before this was announced, I did a massive ticket purge on all the characters on my second account. I'm letting it expire while I uhm, try some other uses for that $15 a month

All of the stuff I rolled and crafted is still sitting in base storage, waiting to be listed. I think I will make a nice profit at the end of the month.
  16. Congrats, and welcome to the dark side!

Well.. I don't think that's his attitude here. It sounded more to me like "okay I'm willing to dip a toe in the water to see what all the splashing and cheering is about, but I'm not willing to just dive in head first."

Sets can be daunting to someone who hasn't looked at them in a lot of ways, and it's fair enough to set yourself some limits on how deep you want to go to begin with. It's been my experience that once people get a taste of the advantages and see how easy it actually is, then they start opening up to more. So I am happy to give advice on the little steps that may eventually lead to a casually purpled warshade - or may just lead to a small step up in performance and hopefully enjoyment for someone.

It's also worth pointing out that nothing is a TF drop, strictly speaking, since TF's don't drop anymore. It's better to consider them rare drops which come from random merit rolls.

Now, I'm not sure how you slot with SO's, but usually if you slot a set, the accuracy enhancement is lower than the standard 2 accuracy enhancements in a power. In the case of Crushing Impact's, it's 68%.

However, set bonuses will fill up those holes, especially if you slot a bunch of sets. Crushing Impact's grant a 7% accuracy bonus which bumps up that 68% value to 75%. Even if you just use cheap sets, slotted right, you'll definitely see a performance boost in your characters.
Yep. If you're only going to be interested in one set, you could do a lot worse than Crushing Impact.

To Sam, it sounds to me, though, like Frankenslotting is going to be what you're really looking for. I would encourage you to try to put aside your distaste for sub-50 pieces and try to look at it from the perspective of the enhancement values granted accounting for ED. Using some combinations of level 50, level 40, level 35, and even lower you can still get up into the upper ED thresholds that you would run into with all 50's. Basically you're 'wasting' less of the bonuses. I'm at work so I can't get into Mid's but I could work up an example for a melee slotting when I get home (assuming no one beats me to it)

Agreed, and I don't think they're going to do it. I don't think this Strike Pack is going to be the upper tiers of Alpha either, I think it will be more costumes and/or emotes, and possibly a gimmick power like previous item packs.
  22. Just to follow up we had a successful run in about 1:54 with... 159 defeats. But we had a blast. most of the deaths were on the second and final stage of the BM fight.

    Thanks for all the advice!

You have to give people time to get used to the mechanics (and they have to give themselves time too!). Are you down one man? It's STILL doable! Both of those occasions have occurred to me but I didn't let it stop me or my team, we kept going and still got her.

P.S. There's only one AT that can complain about the Nanite Halberds, and that is Stalkers who take Mace Mastery's snipe. It's the only power in the game that has an activation/rooting time as long as the warning fog of the nanite halberds.
Thanks again - I have a question about the halberds, though. Once they are activated, how long before she can activate another one? In other words, how often are people going to have to change position because of new halberds?
  24. That's exactly the kind of tips I was looking for, thanks!
