I want to just take a moment to drag the dead horse out for some good ole fashioned flogging.

Villains need a 30-35 Strike Force.

    Aaaaahh that felt good.

    Seriously, though.

In that case, i agree with Energizing_Ion - the one that springs to mind is this:

Well the original Candy Monsters team that we did this with had one - it was the theme song to a movie made by the creators of South Park and which has some not-safe-for-the-forums content so I'll just let folks figure that out. (hint: not Team America) (edit: I don't recall how or why that became our theme song but we're all a little crazy and I blame @BigAngry)

(btw the Candy Monsters thread is here: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...51#post2059451 for anyone who didn't see it back then)

For this group, if we had a theme song I'd say it's that terrible song from the Transformers animated movie where the lyrics are "You've got the touch! You've got the powerrrrr... yeah!" because we had a teammate whose gratz bind kept making up think of that song. So we'll go with that.

    Glad you like it.

Several of us posted screenshots on our Twitter feeds (I gave up on mine after Friday night - I kep forgetting to post anything and everyone else was so much more witty than me in their tweets, anyway)

@Liz had a nice series of pics toward the end of her twitter feed:

My favorite of those is this one of us kicking Recluse's spinnerets:

    Archeraeopteryx, my Archery/Trick Arrow corruptor:

We got stomped by the ambush at the end of the Ice Mistral SF, but not until we'd defeated Archus and completed the mission.

(removed the last one because there was some language in chat not good for the forums - will edit and repost later)
  7. The full list of everything we did:

    Friday night:
    - Loyalist Arcs in Praetoria - Praetor White, Mr. G, Dr. Hetzfeld, Transmuter

    Saturday:
    - Beast Beneath the Mountain (Tarikoss SF)
    - Pirates of the Sky (Silver Mantis SF)
    - Two tip missions
    - Temple of the Waters (Renault SF)
    - Five tip missions (a couple people had missed the earlier 2)
    - Rikti War Zone Arcs (Levantera's arcs only)
    - The Crystal of Serafina (Ice Mistral SF)

    Sunday:
    - The 5th Column Overthrow (Mender Lazarus SF)
    - Patron Arcs (Mako's first two arcs)
    - Imperious Task Force
    - Patron Arcs (Mako's last two arcs)
-- On the final mission where you fight Lord Recluse, we did not cooperative complete them. Instead we killed Recluse all 8 times, which netted us around a million xp a pop. I think we got over two levels from just that.

And we wrapped it up and all dinged 50 in the first mission of the Lady Grey Task Force. Rather than finish the TF, we decided to drop it and get some sleep. We'll do the Alpha unlock arc before anything else, and come back for Lady Grey another time.

Along the way we also took down Deathsurge, a couple Winter Lords, and Ghost of Scrapyard three or four times. There was also a Zombie Invasion in Sharkhead that we had fun with, which has a little funny story of it's own, but that's for another time.

I had a LOT of fun doing this again. Despite some connection difficulties with one of our members who toughed it out as much as he could, and despite my having a nasty cold (still do!) through most of it, it was great! It was much smoother this time than it was for Candy Monsters back in August 2009 (which was also fun but brutal), and I look forward to doing it again next year. thanks to everyone who participated - you guys are the best. /e thumbs up

(Editted to put the pics in another post, to make the above text more readable)

ESRB is not nearly the same thing - CCA was never a rating system, it was a censorship system. If you wanted to be published with the seal you had to conform to their standards, period. If you didn't have the seal, you wouldn't be sold in shops (theoretically - this is what Marvel's "drug issue" thing proved wrong).

With the ESRB, yes, you have to meet the standards of the ratings and if you cross the M line into AO then you're not going to hit store shelves, but at least ESRB has degrees and you can get into adult stuff and still be in great shape commercially with the M rating. It's not nearly as restrictive as the CCA. ESRB is much more like MPAA which has been going strong for forever with no signs of that changing any time soon (despite some legitimate complaints).

    2-XP for AE?

usually Double XP does not apply to AE. I see no reason to assume it will be different this time.

Wrong. Leave your bid up and as long as it is the highest when someone else comes along and lists lower than your bid, you will get it.

    Quote:
(scenerio 2) Someone walks up to WW with a Hecatomb. 0 for sale. Last 5 are 4 @ 450mil, 1 @475mil. Hmm, they think. If the price jumped up to 475mil and 0 for sale, maybe i'll just toss this one up for 500mil and see if it sells. 2 days later, someone bids 500mil and gets it. And again, the 300mil bidder will never get it.
And when they list is and it doesn't sell for 500 then there are no longer 0 for sale. So the next person with on to sell comes along and sees them selling for 450 and 1 for sale that isn't selling and says "Hmm, I better undercut that to get mine sold" and lists his for 400 or less. And so on. Prices fluctuate.

    Quote:
Is 300mil not in the right "relative" price for a recipe? Or is "relative" within 5 inf of the selling price? LOL. This has been the case year on year.
Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. It depends.

    Quote:
    Now to the exploit part...

(scenerio 3) Someone walks to to WW and sees 10 purples for sale at 30mil.
No he doesn't. You don't se any "for sale" price, you only see the "sold" price. Those 10 purples might be listed at 10 inf or 2 billion.

    Quote:
That person thinks, hmmm, i can buy those and delete all but 2 and relist for 200mil each and make 100mil.
That person is an idiot then, because the next person who comes along and wants to buy one sees that same last five at 30 mil and isn't going to bid 200 just because. and when I come along and start listing mine at 30 million then they start selling again and the guy just lost 20 million in listing fees.

    Quote:
Or, i think i'll just buy crap that i don't need just to inflate the values because i have nothing better to do in life and i don't really care if someone else is looking for these items for actual usage.
Sure. For the lulz. Deal with it, it will pass. This is where the "wait" part of "bid low and..." comes in.

    Quote:
i'll keep telling you how the alot of the buyers are just victims of the above actions that are skyrocketing the prices in WW.
You can tell us that all you like, but until you show us some proof, you might as well be telling us that those buyers are the victims of mind controlling aliens. Because the mind controlling aliens would be more likely to be able to force them to buy things at prices they don't think are worth it.
  18. This is one of those times where I wish paying a year in advance would get me the rewards a year in advance. Because I'm still about 18 months away from this one.

Isn't the proc what we're talking about here? You can't put Miracles and Numinas in Stamina...

Edit: After tracking back through the thread I see that I am mistaken and your comment was following a different track. One of the unfortunate results of the new forums not keeping all the quotes.. when I read yours I didn't see any other mention of the uniques and thought we were still talking about the Perf Shifter proc.

Because you are making up an absurdly low value and pretending that's what we're telling you to do. I am talking about relative values here, and you know it. I didn't say "bid whatever you want and wait."

What entitles you to take your fun at the expense of the play experience of others? There is plenty of evidence from both the forums and in game that plenty of people don't enjoy, yet plenty of marketeers continue to take their pleasure at the expense of others. Entitlement indeed.
I never said anything about entitlement, so please don't attribute the words of others to me. I only said that the market does not work the way you seem to want it to work, and that's the way it is.

Yes, the players make it what it is, but that is only because the devs designed it to work that way. Incidentally, that goes for buyers, not just sellers. So when you wail and gnash your teeth about the ebil marketeers, make sure you direct a little of that toward the ones buying all our wares.

At any rate your argument sounds suspiciously like those who complain that they can't get their nukes/shivans/badges in a pvp zone because someone keeps killing them. And I think it's about as likely that you're going to get sympathy as those people do. Like it or not, the market minigame was designed with pvp in mind. If it wasn't, we wouldn't be able to set our own asking prices, or our own bids.

People who don't want to engage in the market minigame have been given many options to avoid it, including tickets and the various types of merits. those who don't enjoy the market are free to ignore it.

Incidentally, I dispute the validity of your "select few" assertion. Show me the data, then we'll talk about whether it's a select few or not.

I'm not sure how many times I need to say this before people can grasp it. I have no real problem getting things on the market. I don't BUY IT NAO and I have plenty of resources to do whatever I need to. That doesn't mean the market has no room to be improved. However, as long as that change is in the hands of the players it will not ever happen. Why you ask, because on the internet you can be a tool and there isn't much in the way of consequences.
Are we talking about you or your kid, then? Because as an adult I have even less sympathy for you than I did for him. And you only have to say it once - I am capable of understanding that what you are saying is that you CAN get stuff on the market but you don't like the way that some people play the game. Leaving aside the (quite correct) point that others have brought up that you are not necessarily seeing what you think you are seeing, I don't agree with you. I think the market game is fun, and I'll thank you to not tell me how to play it.

This discussion is not about purples (the principle works for purples, but it's scaled up to higher numbers and longer wait times).

This discussion is about, to use Humility's words, garbage salvage that sells for 500 and spikes up to 300k. Those are the numbers I am referring to and "low" in this case would be that 500 figure.

You never commented on my original reply to you but I'll just mention that this is exactly what my #2 was about. Those things are part of the minigame that is the market. The market minigame is competitive. It is not there ONLY for people to give things to each other for your definition of reasonable price, it's there for people to play a game. We are not making our millions off the backs of child labor in third world countries, we're playing a video game.

Sometimes things like cornering happen. On the stuff you describe as "garbage salvage" though, it does not last. It never does, because that stuff is just too common and the longer the prices are that high, the more supply is going to flood onto the market as people try to undercut each other to get in on the action, and very soon it's back to "garbage" prices.

Sorry if your kid doesn't enjoy waiting, but like I said in the #1 in my original comment, there are other ways to get it without having to play the market game.
