    Want to solo an ITF? Sure, but now you get 9 merits for it, because it is shorter than a lot of story arcs in the game. Same goes for any of the shorter TFs. Things like Synapse would be worth maybe 20 merits. Just look how much the merit reward of old Posi was reduced when they added it to Ouro and let us solo it, if you want an example. It went from 64 merits to 26 or so.

    The term "Task Force" itself defines it as inolving multiple people. Look at any real world example of something called a task force, do you ever see a task force that is ONE guy?

    The most I'll ever expect is the old version added to Ouro after a revamp, just like what happened with Posi.
    You know that's a good idea actually - I wouldn't mind seeing all TF's and SF's added to Ouro, with the appropriate rewards reduction, able to be started solo. That covers all bases I think - it keeps the minimum team size for the actual TF's, but gives the folks who want to solo them an opportunity to do so.
  2. I think this is a terrible idea.

    Oh wait, no. That's the opposite of what I think. This is a great idea.

    Yes it does, actually.

    "50 to 100 times more" doesn't mean much at these low values. There really isn't any difference between 1 inf and 100 inf in this game. If something can be purchased reliably for 100 inf, its counterpart selling for 10,000 inf isn't actually significantly more expensive. 1,000 to 100,000 isn't really that big a leap either to many people, with as much inf floating around as we have.

    Just to make myself clear, I'm not saying that continues at higher values. 100,000 to 10,000,000 is absolutely a huge difference. Like the comment above mine says, it's not linear.

    Also it's not math proofs, it's scientific theories. Math proofs are the high level salvage. I think in general you will find Sci Theory to sell for more than math proofs.

    The mid level stuff, which is where AlSil and Sci Theory sit, are generally more expensive than low or high level stuff.

    I still don't think it will happen. There is no point to saving up a list of items for off market trading when you can easily sell those items on the market. And if the items are not being pulled off the market for outside trading, then the on-market trade will not collapse.

    This is true even if you are already doing off market trading for other items. If I'm doing off market trading of items that are either too high value or too rare (or both) to move on the market, that doesn't entice me to stop using the market for items that do move well through it. The market is and will always be more efficient for moving those goods in a timely fashion. Unless, as you said, the market for that item collapses first. But that's not going to happen if the item is not (A) too valuable or (B) too rare or (C) both.

    I can see some purples getting up to the cap - not all purples but some - in the forseeable future without some significant inf sinks or other measures. In that case those would likely move off market. But I still don't see them bringing anything else with them that isn't also hitting the cap. There's just no reason for it.

    UberGuy, the problem is multi-fold. What I'm looking at when I worry we're getting too close to collapse is something like this: There is currently something of a stigma against off-market trades. Mostly because it is inconvenient compared to just using the market. I'd rather buy there where I can get it NAO! But as trades start moving off the market, if I can't get the PvP IO I want on market, then I have to move off market (or do a merits, but the math doesn't work there -- you're (probably) better off with an off-market trade and selling the other results of a merits). At some point here you hit the first tipping point and people start lists of what they have and what they want and start looking for trades. Some will take inf to start with. Over time they'll quit and do barter-only, or barter-plus-inf with most of the value in the barter half.

    The problem is this effect is self-reinforcing. One guy on the forums with one PvP IO and some greed the AH can't represent as a number? No big deal. Five PvP IOs within a day? That's a little more worrysome -- that's a faster exchange of them than the market is managing. So there's over billion inf that isn't getting destroyed to fees. A billion compared to Fulmen's estimate of inf reserves? A pittance... but then again how many mobs do you have to kill to make a billion?

    As that happens more and more, suddenly everyone starts doing it and the market dries up. Low-value stuff (salvage, trash/niche recipes) will still be there... but the big stuff (purples first, other >100 mil IOs shortly after) will quickly filter off. One piece of a set pulling out of the market is going to try to drag the rest with it -- because if I have a gambler6 and keep other gamblers in my inventory, I might be able to trade the whole package up to say, a miracle6 someone else has.

    So in short: its a failure mode like an avalanche (or even our favorite: cascading defense failure). The first failure isn't ... so bad. The next one, okay it gets a fair bit worse. Let the failed points reach 5% of what people want and suddenly it gets worse very quickly. I couldn't tell you where the "halfway/median" point is, but I'd guess it is under 25%. Maybe less. Maybe under 15%.

    You can say, "but that's why we have limited storage!" To which I respond, "have you seen the crazy 88s?" If you know what they did, then the concept of limited storage falls apart. Have your trade mule (yep, I said it!) with their own private SG. Buy up enough of a base to fill it with invention storage. How many IOs is that? Something around 1800? Yes, that's /very/ limiting storage!

    With gleemail you don't even have to have that storage on the server you play on, so you're not taking up a precious character slot on your play server. In fact I suspect most storage bases of that form would end up on virtue or freedom, simply because they're high pop. Then we'll have a barter server(s), not an auction house.

    Plus the private base lets you do nice things, like letting people browse your wares by pulling an alt (purchasing mule) of theirs into your SG with permissions to look-not-take. Now they can browse and you don't have to do anything but invite the mule temporarily (or maybe even just a team invite? Not sure there.). You might even find players trying to run bots to do the above. I've seen it in other games before... Not pretty.
    I just don't see any of that happening here for any items that sell below the cap. That's all just way too much of a pain in the butt, for what? To save 10% going to market fees? Doesn't make any sense.
  6. I don't think it has anything to do with vidiotmaps. I've had this same issue on some maps recently - not mayhems/safeguards as it's been a long time since I've done one, but other outdoor maps including one of the ITF mission maps - and I don't have the vidiotmaps pack installed.

    Try running to the edge of the map so that the pointer representing you disappears off the side of the map and see if that fixes it.

The only new Villain-only content that has been taking place and will take place in the future is maybe a single arc (e.g. Vincent Ross) or content that can be re-purposed to have a hero-analogue (like the two Reichsmans [Kahn and Barracuda]).

    Now, with side-switching from Going Rogue, Villains-become-Rogues have access to almost all the Hero-side content, including even starting Task Forces.

    So.... unlikely to happen.
    We won't develop content because more players prefer to play where there is more content. Circular logic at its worst. Maybe if there wasn't such an imbalance in the amount of content available, there wouldn't be such an imbalance in the amount of characters per side. I don't think that there will ever be as many villains as heroes, but I don't think it would be a poor use of dev time at all to create some more content to give villains more to do.

    I mean, really. ONE new Strike Force to cover the level 30-35 hole that's been there since CoV launch. I don't understand why that's so much to ask.

    I agree the old ones need a revamp but I'll be pretty disappointed if they get revamps before we get a level 30-35 Strike Force. That hole has existed for 6 years now.

    I think the forums broke this code. When I copy/pasted this into a .mnu and loaded it, then tried it out, it only gets to the "Prompt Team Teleport" part and breaks. It also broke all the default keybinds so I couldn't even move my characters.

    After looking at the code, there are extra line breaks here:

    Quote:
    Menu "&4 Team Teleport Prompt"
    {
    Option "See Prompt On" "option_set PromptTeleportFromTeammates 1$$t $name, Team Telepot

    Prompt is Enabled!"
    Option "See Prompt Off" "option_set PromptTeleportFromTeammates 0$$t $name, Team Teleport

    Prompt is Disabled!"
    }
    After I took out the line breaks and loaded it again, it broke at vet buff pets. Again, extra line breaks:

    Quote:
    Menu "Vet & Buff Pets"
    {
    Option "&Non-Combat Pet" "powexecname Clockwork Pet$$powexecname Demon Pet$$powexecname

    Redcap Pet$$powexecname Rikti Pet$$powexecname Mekman Pet"
    Divider
    Title "remember to turn off hover/fly"
    Option "&Buff Pet" "powexecname Light Fairy Pet$$powexecname Dark Fairy Pet$$powexecname

    Power Oscillator Pet$$powexecname Blue Wisp Pet$$powexecname Red Wisp Pet$$powexecname Shield Drone

    Pet$$powexecname Power Drone Pet$$powexecname Shield Oscillator Pet"
    }
    And here:

    Quote:
    Menu "&Quick Screenshot Stuff"
    {
    Option "Screenshot with UI" "screenshotui 1$$screenshot$$t $name, UI is Enabled in

    Screenshots, remember to turn it back off"
    Option "Screenshot without UI" "screenshotui 0$$screenshot$$t $name, UI is disabled in

    Screenshots"
    Don't know if it was the forums or when you copied from notepad you had Word Wrap enabled?

    Anyway, after fixing those extra line breaks it seems to work.

    Oh and edit to add, now that it works, it's awesome. Thanks!
  10. I always laugh at these posts and I am usually really good at avoiding the big blunders but I guess it was just my time tonight...

    I was in a hurry, and the two rum n' cokes I've had didn't help.

    What do you mean "post WST?" we have been given no indication that the WST is a temporary thing.

    There will be other ways, including crafting them with Shards (current numbers on the Sneak Peek beta are very expensive, but it's an options) and it should be safe to assume we can earn them in the Incarnate Trials somehow. But there is no reason to think that WST will stop being an option.

    50+1 question

    It helps to not think of the +1 as a level, but as an auto power that adjusts your combat modifiers. Because that's really what it is.

    I would assume that's why it went away when you were dead.
  14. OK I changed it and it now seems to be working even when I am not logged in. Try again.

    I had it set to "anyone who has the link" which said that anyone could view it without being signed in. But that didn't seem to be the case, so I changed it to "anyone on the internet."

    Yeah Shard drops seem to clump up for me as well. I'll get two or three in quick succession and then nothing for an hour or more.
  17. I think Christiana Hendricks would have to play Cherry Bombshell, since that's who I was thinking of when I created the character:

    Glad you like it. I referenced your flowchart a lot while I was creating it and it was sort of the inspiration to do this. I wanted something that I could use to map out my plan for each character and keep tabs on each of them at a glance and separately.
  19. Like many of you, I have a lot of level 50 characters. I've unlocked the Alpha slot on most of them, and got a common or uncommon boost slotted in a few of them, and rares in two. Theoretically, I would one day like to have at minimum a rare Alpha in all of my 50's, if for no other reason than to have all my 50's become 50 (+1).

    That sounds great, but keeping track of what components I need for which boosts and what I already have across over a dozen characters is going to be a real pain. To help, I've created the following spreadsheet, which I offer to anyone who wants to make their own copy:

    Alpha Planning Checklist (Google Docs)

    As you can see, Cherry Bombshell and Meltdown Molly, my two "main" 50's, are well on their way to having their Very Rare Alpha crafted. You can look at them to see an example of how I use this spreadsheet.

    The "Template" sheet is the basic checklist. You'll decide which Very Rare you want to go after and which Uncommons and Rares you want to use to get there, and fill in everything needed. Then you can check them off as you get them.

    The "Boost Recipes" sheet shows what is needed to craft each possible boost. I will eventually add comments to each one to show the effects of each boost, so you wont have to cross reference from any other source when planning.

    The "Components" sheet shows what all the components are and how they are obtained.

    Let me know what you think, and if you have any suggestions on how this could be more useful/better. Eventually when all the information is released, I'll add info on the other slots (or create new spreadsheets, depending on how complicated it all gets).
  20. A better question is "Do all of my 50's have TIME to become Incarnates?"

    I've got Alpha unlocked on most of my 50's but as for actually crafting boosts to put in those slots, or progressing to higher tiers of Alpha, or unlocking and slotting and progressing other Incarnate abilities... there are only so many hours in the day, ya know?

    I'm sticking to one or two for now.
