I put Numina's Convalescence (Regen/Recovery) into Radiant Aura instead of Health. That, plus the other +Recovery IO turn my heal into a sort of ghetto Recovery Aura, but with a MUCH shorter recharge time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Um, I'm pretty sure that the Numina's Regen/Recovery and Miracle +Recover procs only affect you. They do not affect others. They only work for 2 minutes after you use Radiant Aura. However, if you put them into Health, they work all the time.

Frankly, I can't see many good reasons to put those procs in Radiant Aura.

I think that is where the problem comes in - urgency. Responding to an emerging exploit requires process to be undertaken and that process to fix the emerging behavior can take time. Every moment that the behavior is allowed to persist is another moment that someone else has learned this behavior and without calling it an exploit it becomes more and more accepted by the game populace. Then, when it is taken away the reprecussions are greater because many people know about the behavior and employ it in every day tactics not realizing that it was exploitative at all.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It is an exploit, but who really cares? They fix it and life is OK again. But to punish players is another thing entirely.

  9. Apparently i15 broke some code with the repairmen such that they can heal the towers a lot faster than they could before.

If you have a problem with not being able to take the towers down, you need to have a fast acting DoT aura big enough to defeat the repairmen or a push aura to keep them away from the tower.

Just be aware that the push type auras need to be managed carefully so repairmen don't get pushed onto a previously defeated tower.

Hurricane and Hotfeet have been used successfully against repairmen post i15.

Apparently someone told me that LR can still be stuck but I didn't ask where since it's never been that big of a deal for us to tank and defeat LR.

If you bring an emp you can buff the tank easily against LR's attacks. If you have a kin either have the tank summon a single bane to keep the transfusion going, or have your tank get close to the towers that the team is working on and share in the tower buffage. Just be sure to keep LR facing away or far enough from the rest of the team so he doesn't kill anyone.

Before I invited him i looked over his build...seemed OK. A high level Stone Armor/Stone Melee tank with granite, earths embrace, mud pots & rooted...what could go wrong?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Now that guy lives on Sam's couch and eats all of his groceries and pays no rent. The moral of the story is never to invite strangers to your team.

Seriously, I was going to agree with you. Meows and AE have grown a crop of clueless and recalcitrant noobs who should be shunned.

Until I thought back and remembered how crappy of a player I was back in the day. Probably I still am today. I managed to get my first toon, a kin defender, up to 50 in 23 days back in i3, through a combination of teaming and farming (although I never knew that's what it was at the time). I barely knew what debt was, or the different status effects or mag...pretty much nothing.

I had read the manual, but since the philosophy of CoH at the time was to hide the numbers, I never really figured out whether X was better than Y and if my slotting was optimal or not.

The only thing that made me friends in game was that I was always determined to finish things. No matter how many times we wiped or how slow it was, we would see it through to the (bitter) end.

In time, I started getting clued into some of the behaviors of better players and getting a feel of the game. Slowly I got to be a better player.

Let's face it. Meows and AE were not developed by the poor player who doesn't know what is going on. It was put there by the devs. If there was adequate official documentation you could point the finger at the hapless noob, but really since there is no official docs to this game except the fragmented in-game dialogs (which everyone impatiently reads without comprehending), it is up to the player to learn by themselves.

And the community around them gets to suffer through this or find a way to help the noobs through the painful intro phase. If they don't want to listen, you don't have to team with them. But for those that do accept a certain level of mentorship, they could be the ones who teach you a thing or two about this game in the future.

Still, I think this thread is funny though.

PS. Paragon needs to integrate/buy/steal Red Tomax, Mids and paragonwiki and print/pdf a new manual.
  16. I think his next research project is going to the beach and stomping on children's sand castles.

The title of the paper is "Unreasonable crying by children when placed in idyllic vacations: How I got punched in the mouth."
  17. I'd rate the difficulty of this TF in line with itf. In the beginning it was difficult to take on Romulus and his Nictus helpers, but over time better understanding of the mechanics of the end encounter made it easier to overcome.

I'm not sure what type of scaling the new TF has with respect to the end encounter as you lower the number of participants. I always try and fill out the team with 8 people just to make things are more fun and to give people outside of my core group of friends a chance to jump around and become veng bait.

In terms of balance, I never dictate what toons people should bring to a TF, I always try to remind myself that no kin and no rad usually means slower and more difficult end encounters.

I suppose I can run a 5TF with 4 people to see what's different. Did you only have 2 AVs at the end, plus the boss? If you did it would imply that the number of AVs at the end are one of the main determining differences for the end encounter with 6 team members.
  18. I think the devs made a big mistake with the AV buff (troller nerf) in i5. In essence when they bumped up the AVs resists to debuffs it essentially made the end game bosses a matter of doing as much damage to them while killing their regen rate, and surviving whatever custom attack they have or ambushes etc.

Slow, confuse, fear, -end, and -acc debuffs really don't help much against AVs, which takes away the variety that you used to be able to bring to defeating end game NPCs.

So now it's all custom coding to poke holes in the standard TF/AV template in order for underperforming sets to feel useful.
  19. You don't have to disengage from the final boss during the ambushes on the TF. I'd recommend that you stay on the boss and use your aggro managers to fend off the ambushes while defeating the big boss, and then going after the ambushers. That way you don't let him regenerate his massive health back. Beat him down, he won't rez, unlike Romulus or Jade Spider.

The use of taunt, confuse, and sleep are great for the end ambushers. If you have +def buffers for this TF it also helps alot to be able to keep on the boss while confronted by the ambushers. And if that doesn't work you should make sure you have some vengeance handy.

We were able to finish the TF in 28:44 with a half pug team, using no temps other than the one granted by the TF.
