  1. If you can install a diagnostic tool (I'm not sure what ATi compatible stuff is out there), see if you can probe the temperature of the GPU as you play.

If the GPU temps don't seem to be affected very much by fan speeds, even when ramped up fully, you may want to see if the heat sink to the GPU has been properly installed. Consult online with other people who have the same laptop or GPU to see if they temperatures you see are inline with theirs. If not you might be able to fix it.

If it is under warranty, sometimes the vendor might humour you and attempt a repair.

If you are sneaky and have a good PC installer type friend or overclocker, they can probably do a better warranty voiding job than the vendor and seat/reseat the GPU using a high quality thermal compound. Of course the usual caveats apply when cracking open a computer. There are a million and one things to break and if it doesn't work afterwards don't blame me.

A GPU reseat may not cure your overheating entirely but should significantly improve the cooling capacity of the fan and heatsink already installed. Since this is a laptop, changing out the heatsink and fan is an unlikely fix since better parts probably don't exist unless you are a machinist.

In the meantime perhaps the /maxfps command might keep you from overheating while not looking at an ugly game.

At some point it may become Justice United 2011 (or JU2011) since channels have maximum population counts. This will disallow anyone new from joining, and a migration is necessary to leave the inactive channel subscribers behind.

Hence Justice For All -> JFA2010.

Weither its a radio show, a costume contest, a MA event, PERC/PvPec event, badging/TF race event, a lowbie event, etc the process sometimes can become grueling.
Are you proposing that all the other channels be folded into this one? If/When/Until that happens, won't the hassles you described still remain and be multiplied by another channel to work with?

    A Thank You Note

There's already a thread regarding the complaint. Please try not to be rude and threadjack the OP's compliment.
  6. MMs can be a little more versatile in raiding structure if the MM is familiar enough with blue team.

    Advanced MM tactics:
After the Yellows are down it is fairly safe to venture out for MMs, and while their pets keep distracting the Blues, the MM and their non controllable pets (if any) can join the Green squad in holding the Greens.

As well, MMs can buff or rez when appropriate, just be careful about getting one shotted if the yellows aren't down yet.

Also remember to step just outside the goo when the raid leader call for TPers to step out, but keep the pets on Hami. You should be able to see the respawn and run away (with superspeed) behind a rock before the Mitos have a chance to hit you.
  7. The next best thing is to have multiple babbages during an invasion of skyway.
  8. If you play windowed mode, type cntl shift esc to bring up the windows task manager, and you can watch the memory allocation creep up.

Mine inevitably crashes after crossing the 1.45GB mark, no matter how many reloadgfxes I do.
  9. Last update to the bios was 2009/09/16, version F6. I don't know if that maps to your 6.00PG but just in case you didn't see it.

If you haven't got it it can be downloaded here.

No idea whether it would fix your issues but it does seem like a reasonable place to start if you've been experiencing the same problem across different OSes.
  10. Thanks for the tips. I'm fairly certain I'm going to move out of Safari and into Chrome once it leaves dev status on the mac. The biggest stumbling block is for the iPhone, since it has the lowest processing, storage, imaging and network power. Anyone have any tips for handhelds?
  11. This has been nagging me lately but I've finally gotten around to looking at why the forums have been dogging me out since the change over. While there are some stylistic issues that I have with the site, I just want to point out a couple of things that might improve the boards without drastic thematic differences.

One of the things I've noticed is that I rarely visited the boards anymore on my iPhone...it's just too slow. I also see reloads on pages from Safari on my mac being a bit pokier too, although on Chrome/Win7 it is pretty quick.

One of the things I saw was that the background image is pretty big, so I decided to download and take a peek. BG image is located here if you want to see it.

It is almost 400k in size (384k). It's big, beautiful and hogs a lot of space. It would make a great poster, since it is 1920 pixels in width. If you could cut it down in size it would save a lot of space/time/bandwidth etc, and possibly would speed up browsing for limited devices such as the iPhone.

So I decided to cut it down a bit to see what can be done to reduce the size.

This is what I came up with. The image is substantially the same but just fades to black on the arcing portion.

(I linked it as a URL instead of inline). The image hosting might change the resolution settings etc. but it was 167k, a pretty substantial savings. The image quality is the same as the original, but a heck of a lot shorter in height.

In addition to being smaller, the center section is punched out to black. The width of the black area is defined by the narrowest width I could make the browser before the table divs started breaking out in Chrome (browser). A side benefit is also when the browser window is wider than 1920 pixels the center portion shows through, but having a black hole hides the background showing through.

The downsides are that the city image is gone down the sides of the edge of the screen (not that you really noticed it on the original pages), and on really really short pages you can see the bottom portion of the city on the original but on the modified image, it's just black (like the normal and long pages are on the original). This would only really affect the error pages etc. Most pages would be unaffected by the background image height change.

Another optimization I was thinking was to add a third option in the bottom pulldown theme, where you could choose Hero or Villain theme/skin. Perhaps a "Lightweight" option could be provided, where the background is suppressed altogether and various other graphics are reduced in size (like the City of... logo). It would really go a long way to restoring the ability to sneak onto the forums while at work (during my break, of course)!

Anyhow, just my 2 cents on trying to save the pipes of the interwebs from being clogged up.

So there is no implied benefit to remaining a 'pure' hero or villain, or there is no detriment for a hero to go (and stay) vigilante or a villain to remain rogue?

Just wondering if there is any incentive for someone to remain in their faction silo other than for RP purposes.

What are the current requirements for the Hami Tank?

Other than the Halloween event, when are/were the raids held?
Quatermain is probably where most of the Justice Hami raid knowledge is kept. I'd advise waiting until he's asleep before cracking his head open to see what's inside.

Technically there isn't any set method that is required, although Q's methods are best for the PuG style raiding that Justice engages in. Public raids are generally advertised here and in the various public channels' MotD.

Tanking Hami doesn't require a lot of EoEs if you have the right build and team support, although it does help. There are probably a good 20 or 30 people on Justice ahead of me that could advise you at tanking Hami.

Being a raid leader is pretty much the person who coordinates all the sub groups (team leaders), so there is no requirement for the raid leader to be a part of any of the participant groups. In theory, a leecher could coordinate the raid, although one of the biggest factors in leadership is having credibility. Without it no one will follow your directions, and the raid will generally fall apart.

To everyone else the raid leader is the one who talks before the raid, in between the waves, and tells everyone else to stay off request.

People who we know to be active participants who are locked out, we can just tell them to go to Hive 2. We'll have to rehunt some monsters, but we'd leave the leechers sitting alone with Hami in Hive 2. In addition, if someone stays there to keep it spawned, we could just move the whole operation back to Hive 1 and do it again real fast. Hopefully by then, the leechers will have tired and bailed.

We do this when we seem to have a lot of leechers. Eventually they will try and head us off at Hive 2, at which point we stay in Hive 1. Still, a PITA to go through just to have everyone get their just rewards.

    Just a thought.
I'm not sure exactly what the leecher mentality is like but they might be just sitting there instead of being AFK, which would mean that a mass exodus of players to the next Hive instance would just be a big old game of musical chairs.

You'd also risk losing the average hami raider spot to more leechers, since there are some who spend the whole raid in Eden head banging until they get in.

    Just playing Devil's advocate.
  20. My min-max strategy involves me maximizing the number of great players on the team so I can minimize my effort.

It is disheartening to find people camped out in forests and areas outlying the bowl. The devs have changed the reward structure a bit from what I can tell to reduce leeching but it still won't prevent people from a last second snatch and grab. It is also hard to stomach knowing somebody will leech a free hami when you've got good teammates who DC for whatever reason and can't get back into the Hive because it is full.

Unfortunately, it seems like leading can feel like a thankless task, and there is a fairly high expectation from the community since Justice is well recognized for successful and fun raids. High pressure, low rewards seems like a recipe to burn yourself out if you're not careful.

Non-50 TFs got a big buff (to the players) since the last issue as exemped characters can now have access to powers up to +5 of their exemped level.

This has seriously imbalanced few TFs, especially the ones that used to be limited to level 30 and 35, since they now grant access to t9 powers for primaries and secondaries respectively.
