    Too much loot.

Heh, I've been noodling over giving lots of merits away in a CC, but I'm already hesitant since it mean that some of the winners will be chasing me for a long time.

This is one of my toons, not the one with 9300+ merits though...I've got a few in this range:

I allow my 10 year old daughter to play the game, however I am always sitting next to her when she plays, and she only teams with people that I know and play with, and even then I'm very selective about who I let her team with. And I'm also usually on skype or vent with the person she's teamed with. When she plays I close all the chat tabs except for team chat, so she can feel like she's interacting with the person(s) on the team. I agree with Arwen that it's not the job of the game mod's/tv show/movie/website, it's the parents job to police what their children are looking at.

On my daughter's very first day of 1st grade, she came home to tell me about all the great things she learned that day. Including what she learned on the bus, which was how to flip the bird and the word sex, so CoH is the least of my problems.

P.S. This is coming from a person with a toon named Debbie Does Paragon, had it nerfed, and fought to get it back and won
You, me, cai and your daughter @Hooters, my treat.

PS. Can I call you Debbie?

IF a parent is allowing their 10 y/o to play a game that is explicitly rated T for Teens because of mild language, sexuality and drug abuse... well then I'm simply at a loss for words. We have at least 2 signature characters I can think of off the top of my head whose costumes resemble nothing more than lingerie (Sis P and Swan). To top it off, one of our signature villains is an unabashed S&M/Bondage lover who graciously spews out sexually provocative language as 8 heroes "team" up on her during the Statesman TF. Oh yeah, let's not forget our Praetorian sweetheart Dominatrix and her lovable villain group of sex slaves.

I agree that questionable material should NOT be foisted upon youth... but at what point do the patrons of Hooters begin to roll their eyes at the family of five sitting in the back making a stink about the waitresses' attire? It's fracking Hooters, you knew what it was before you ever entered the place.

*Moo!* Ahh crap, the herd's calling me, I better go. Carry on.
Just remember that quite a bit of the material may not be seen as explicit, although it may be sexual or have innuendo enough to make an adult understand it. I never really paid that much attention to Dominatrix's minions although now that you point it out it's there, but it's not like they all have ball gags and crotchless outfits.

Just because it's Hooters doesn't mean that you tell your kids that the peelers are a great place to go either. Well, not at their age. It's a comic themed game, just because a kid is reading Wonder Woman doesn't mean they should be automatically reading Herogasm.

All I'm saying is that JU has a good reason to exist if you condone adult talk on the other channels. I'm not commenting on whether a parent should or should not allow their kids to play this game, other than the fact that kids do play this game, and that people respect that.

As far as being a parent to these kids, all I'm saying is that if you don't curse or talk about drug use etc. in public for everyone to hear, probably you should use that metric to judge whether anybody else wants to be hearing it either in a family oriented public channel.

    Fps Issues

I've got a gtx280 and something similar happens to me as well.

FPS is silky smooth 40-60 fps and then halves after that, usually after zoning or as I play about 10-15 minutes in.

It probably has something to do with some kind of setting in the nvidia driver and the graphics engine.

I've been too lazy to try and figure it out.

But the thing that's bothering me with the mac client right now (and this is huge. HUGE) is the amount of CPU and memory the current cider wrapper is gulping down whenever I start CoX. I'm running at 80% CPU on bad days, and 60% on good. I can barely run any app on the side apart from iChat, and asking Safari to work usually takes an act of god.

Now yes, the new client wrapper is way better. Smooth, easier loading, etc., but at the cost of making my machine an utter piece of crap (which it very much is not).

Are we going to see an end to this? Will the mac playerbase see a more efficient cider patch that doesn't take away the new performance?
Sounds like low RAM rather than being CPU bound. Without knowing your specific configuration, it's hard to recommend anything. All I gather is that you don't have an intel video based mac.
  9. win xp pro 64 is not really a well supported version of the windows family. I'd go win7 instead.

Kids may want to push the boundaries of drugs and sex but there's a difference between them being curious and seeking it out and it being foisted upon them. Adolescents and young adults can join the other channels too, but sometimes the herd exists for good reason.

Besides, not all kids are of an age where they are interested in salacious material. There are kids who are under 10 playing and teaming with their parents (and sometimes without).

    ++

Covered merits being untradeable in OP.

Love the base designer idea...I was kind of depressed they dropped the prestige amounts on items since it had forced me to choose prestige or influence before but now it seems prestige is as easy to obtain as inf...

PS. I do frankenslot my toons but only if it drops, and usually only for that toon. Makes it more of a challenge to 'soup' up a toon. The only thing I buy usually is the perf shifter proc since I think it's quite useful.

PPS. Didn't give away 1B last year in a CC but gave away 10 crafted IOs, 8 of which consisted of LotG 7.5s and purples. Winner got 5 of his/her choice, 2nd got 3 of the rest and other 2 went to 3rd place.

The more I think of it the more that I can see that Justice doesn't have an all encompassing youth friendly channel. JFA is well moderated but 'evening' conversations can be quite spicy, and it's not always 'evening' for everyone.

Heh. I do that already (usually in the WWs and not AP...can't stand the broadcast chatter there), but also I'm a fiscal conservative too... so I try not to give out _too_ much in the way of a handout (like more than 10 million at a time).

Edit: Guess I should hold a CC in Pocket D and give away a bunch of merits or something like that. Thanks for the inspiration.

This way you use your merits and you make the game harder.
Yah, I like teaming with friends though, and getting them run over isn't exactly their idea of fun for some strange reason (sometimes I get a perverse enjoyment out of team wiping though - winning every battle can be a snoozefest too).

The whole foes buffed and players debuffed thing kinda bugs me as getting nothing for cranking it up though. Increased level difficulty at least you get a reward by higher inf though.

The other part is also I really like trollers for some reason. I can't seem to get excited by playing a tank or scrapper. My MM is fun and the VEAT (widow), but oddly the other ATs have never clicked with me.

Fortunately (unfortunately), I could IO out all of my toons without having to spend any dough simply from the ridiculous collection of IOs I have stored in my base already, so buffing my toons isn't going to get rid of my merits issue.

Allright. It's time to face the music. Some of you know that I run TF/SFs on Justice a lot. I mean A LOT.

And some of you know that I'm pretty cheap too. I've got one toon that's purpled out, and 2 that are Hami'd out, but the rest are SOs and whatever junk falls off the TF truck.

However, since I've stuffed the base full and you can't trade merits, some of my toons are getting close to the reward merit cap, so I suppose I have to get off my lazy butt now and do something with all this accumulated 'stuff'.

Most of my toons (that I play regularly) have over a billion inf and I really don't have much to spend it on. I'm not keen on upgrading all of my SO'd toons either since the game would present even less of a challenge then. :P

Anyhow, I need advice on what I should do with my reward merits to 1. Maximize my return at the Merit vendor, 2. Hold the resulting IOs/inf?

Should I just monetize them and hold them as outstanding bids so the WW is like a bank for billions? Should I convert the IOs upscale to the most expensive ones to consolidate things so the base will fit them?

In reality I shouldn't really care that much about it since I don't buy much, don't spend much and I kind of don't really min-max that much either, but I really hate the idea of wasting the merits. I guess it's the obsessive collector's mentality...

I really don't want a stable of bank toons that just hold inf either...I'd like to know if anyone's got a relatively hassle free way to 'move' those merits around without clogging up auction slots/toon slots or being wasteful.

Due to a bug in transferring enhancements, you can strip the +/++ out of the HOs by giving the enhancement to another toon first (not trading), so if you want to sell a 52 or 51 Hami you could, but losing the extra +'s can cause a bit of consternation.

I've got some 52s and 52+s enzymes, but I have them slotted and/or pack ratted them away somewhere.

Can't you use Cytoskeletons as well? From what I recall, the to-hit buff and to-hit debuff works the same way anyhow as long as you can get it slotted (which you should be able to if the end discount aspect can be slotted). It should open up your market that wee bit for 53 Cytos as well as Enzymes.

Im totally clueless about this stuff
Set a number after the command, /maxfps 0 usually means not enabled, which in this case is uncapped. Try /maxfps 30 to see if it keeps your machine from shutting down.
  25. Dual GPUs aren't currently taken advantage of by CoX (they will work but any performance increase will be minimal if any, physX not supported either by GPU), although Ultra mode may/should/will support it (*crosses fingers*).

Additionally, the new 58x0 cards from AMD/ATi support 3 or 6 monitors, so it is highly unlikely that you would need another GPU to support more monitors unless you are a graphic designer, day trader or Dr. Evil.

Water cooling isn't needed at stock speeds. Since you aren't looking to build your own system, it is highly unlikely that you want to get into the hassle of maintaining a water cooled system.
