Quote:Welcome to Justice. From your typed post, I suspect that you've probably been thrown on a couple ignore lists and that quite a few people don't want to play with you. I can only presume that you want private channels banned so that everybody has to listen to what you have to say and you can join and speak in any channel you wish. No, I don't have any evidence to back this particular train of thought up, but I'm really not able to fathom why anybody would advocate the point you have if this wasn't part of the reason.
Snacks are over to the right. -
Quote:Depends on what you're running. Ice control immobs with -kb works wonders to keep things from flying all over the place, if you're an ice/storm.Every ten seconds, but only when there is a target within the power's radius. An unlikely even considering 'Nado's knockback.
Slotting a razzle dazzle proc in tornado keeps things from flying too far as well (they just 'bunny hop' instead). -
Without looking deeply into your build, soloing Lusca would be pretty tough for any troller outside of an Ill, since (perma) PA is the best way to deflect the incoming aggro of the head and all the other tentacles.

Being rich is a state of mind. When you can afford to help/give away stuff to friends without anything in return, you're rich.
When you can afford to do that for complete strangers, you're stinking rich. -
looks like you need a new graphics card. the text is getting fuzzy.

My macro looks like this:
numpad0 tell@choake "Stop going afk you lazy sod"$$teamkick @choake
Usually saves a few minutes per TF by using that. -
Quote:From what I remember about XP 32, you won't be able to address the full 4GB since the driver model for the graphics card will take up the addressing space, meaning that XP will only allocate the 4GB minus the GPU RAM size, which in your case will be 4GB - 1GB = 3GB usable.Well I ordered my stuff today. Instead of getting an additional 2GB memory stick, I ordered two more 1GB memory sticks. This will give me a total of four 1GB memory sticks....hope that works well.
I was all set to buy the 9800GTX Nvidia 512MB card, but the geek on the other end of the line talked me into a VisionTek Radeon HD 4670 1GB instead. I know the game is currently set up to be more friendly to Nvidia, but I do believe with GR this will change. The ATI card is 1GB instead of the 512MB Nvidia card, and yet it was $40 cheaper.
I have 21 days to return anything if I don't like it. Hope I made the right selection. -
This shouldn't be that big a deal since any single program has a 3GB partition limit anyhow, and CoX usually uses around 1.5GB at the most. These limits would only be constraining if you were dual boxing or running another bunch of memory hogging programs along with CoX.
If you want to take full advantage of 4GB or more, you'll have to look at 64-bit operating systems.
RAM should be (usually 'must be' on high performance systems) installed in matched pairs (or triples in some cases) to take best advantage of performance. That being said, the performance difference in the real world is usually less than 1.5%, even though benchmarks may show substantial differences. Usually in gaming interleaved RAM gains are in the 0-5% range.
Moving to ATi isn't a bad idea right now, and you can see how Nvidia is getting beat up in the marketplace for not having their next generation parts out right now. Nvidia's strategy of targeting the high end has really been trumped by ATi's taking of the middle ground in the past year.
Good luck on the new gear. -
Quote:Right now is kinda of a blech time to get a card for CoX. ATi has the best gaming card out there with the 5870, but the current CoX driver support for ATi cards is inferior to Nvidia's support.Seeing as this is the only PC game I play....should I get another Nvidia? or are the Radeon HD VisionTek better? I'm not so much worried about cost, but I want the best possible card I can put in my Dell XPS 720 without having to change the power supply or cooling system. I wanna just plug it in and play. Any recomendations?
I'm looking at the Radeon HD 3870 X2 1 GB card, but I don't know if the power supply or cooling system I have now would support it. I'm researching as much as I can, but don't see much about minimum power requirements. Is 500w that standard? Would I better off just going with the GEFORCE 9800GTX + 512MB considering this game is the only PC game I play?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
As well, since CoX currently doesn't scale with multi GPU implementations, a 3870x2 pretty much will act like a 3870.
Nvidia's next generation GPUs won't be out for a while (not even any specific part numbers yet), so their last/current generation cards are still at a relative premium while they are getting their behinds kicked by ATi right now.
Of course, muddying things even further is that Going Rogue is going to introduce an upgraded graphics technology, Ultra, which will support SLI/multi-GPU implementations, and support ATi cards much better as well.
So right now if you want the best performing card out there for CoX, it will be a GTX285, but when GR finally launches, the best card(s) will likely be the ATi 5870x2, and in dual or triple card configs if you're rich enough. Nvidia's GTX295 successor will likely be competitive performance wise, but price wise it might come in significantly more than ATi's best.
You might also try to hedge your bets by grabbing a mid range Nvidia card, like the 250GTS or GTX260, and then upgrading or changing once GR launches. You might plan on adding another card for SLI in about a year, but it's usually difficult to find the same model card a year down the road since technology moves so fast, and your motherboard needs to support SLI/Crossfire. -
Gratz!
Can you loan me some munniez?

Quote:I've always wondered why they never made a client just for chatting, whether mobile or not. Being able to chat at any given time or monitor a channel or two would only foster a better sense of community, which means people would want to hang around more.In this mobile media craze, I'm really surprised NCSoft hasn't done more to tap that market.
I just posted in another thread that, for lack of a better word, a WW app would be fantastic and would give them another marketing opportunity for their other games, the ncstore, etc.
It would be fantastic to check on WW sales and place bids.
Heck it would be sweet to be able to look at badge progression, check your SG stats, etc. There's a lot of CoH features that just scream for mobile access.
And who wouldn't love a mobile version of Mids or the ability to log into chat channels? -

So I guess around 30 days to report, identify and fix a (potentially) multi vendor bug isn't too bad...
I guess the moral of the story is that CoX needs more mac beta testers. -
Quote:++I'm of the opinion that the majority of market based changes in the past few weeks were caused by the -1TF bug. Now that that has been fixed we should see the supply of level 50 PoolA recipes start to come back up.
I know a bunch of people who didn't like to do TFs because of the -1 bug.
Also a few people were ToTing or doing zone events as well.
Also the lure of PvP IOs has people doing other things than just farming PvE maps.
I doubt the drop rate is whacked, rather the rate at which people are doing the activities that drop 50 Pool A recipes has declined somewhat. I think things will pick up mildly and then the Winter Event will blunt the comeback of the recipes until Mid to Late December. -
Quote:I did. If "money is no object" you could also take $100 bills and burn them. Still won't improve performance one bit. Running 2 dual GPU cards doesn't give any further benefit to CoX regardless of my literacy anyhow.Learn to read Pum. Nothing in my comment said anything about performance. My comment was strictly related to the "if money is no object" portion of the statements.
Your original statement of "would be better" comes with an implicit thesis that it should perform better rather than just burning cash. Besides, if you were looking for the ultimate in CoX performance right now, a single GTX285 OC would outperform a GTX 295 anyhow (aside from a 5870, which has driver issues in CoX). -
Multi GPU cards and SLI mode won't give any performance boost to CoX until Ultra debuts (I hope it will boost performance in Ultra anyhow).

Another person on CoH just asked me what card to recommend because their 8800GT just died. Looks like Nvidia might have an issue with those cards that they haven't owned up to.
Might be related to the 8600M recall they had to issue.
FWIW, my 8800GTX and GTX280 are running fine, but now my fingers are crossed. -
Use /maxfps 25 to see if it will reduce the heat level and thus keep your system from blanking out. That will cap out the maximum frames per second to 25. Use a lower number if you can stand it. /maxfps 0 will uncap your framerate.
It's a total band aid solution but if it works well enough to keep you limping along... -
Awesome, I never looked at that for a long time so it's probably been fixed for quite some time now.

Quote:Heh I get hassled by my friends about some of my 'builds' too. Part of the reason this particular toon hasn't been rebuilt is because it is an i4 build, which is hami'd out, and that I have a celerity stealth stuck into swift.Gawddammit Pum... it is killing me to see all those unused merits/tickets and your toon not having any set bonuses.
You should fill a swimming pool with your riches and swim in it like Scrooge McDuck...
I was always too cheap to chuck away the hamis and I didn't want to go through 5 respecs to pull out all the hamis, but now with dual builds I suppose I can 'archive' the current build. But that would entail spending time building the toon when I could be out TFing...
