Quote:I'd suggest you log in both accounts and pass the recipes over directly to your alt as you receive the recipes. I just don't want to get into a position where the merit rewards aren't winding up where they should be, or that I would have to figure out who's alt belongs to which winner. Not even a player's second account? I know it adds an extra layer of complication for you, but I respectfully request you reconsider. If a winner took all 1000 merits as random rolls (which I would suggest is the best use) that's 50 recipes. I think it would work smoothly and efficiently to have 2 accounts logged on.
It's your show and your rules. But please think about it.
The only way I can guarantee that is that it crosses the winning account's hands.
The easiest way to do it would be to log in the accounts side by side and while I roll I will simply click the recipe and use the give command to drop the recipe onto your toon. You in turn can just use the give command to drop the recipe onto your alt as you receive them. Trading would be a bit slower. -
A note on task force merit rewards:
In order for things to be done in an efficient manner, I'll just set up some ground rules here. This only applies to the winners that receive Task Force Merits as a reward, everyone else can go about their usual business.
1. Not everything has to be spent in one session, although you may elect to do that. I will NOT store any goods for you if you've filled up your inventory. You must take everything I spend as you direct me to. If it's a roll that you don't like, I am passing it on to you regardless. You may delete it if you want, but I won't be doing it. If you fail to take your rewards as I spend them, I will hold them for a maximum of one hour before deleting them.
2. I will only be available to meet in single half-hour blocks per day per winner. You can contact me in game @pumbumbler to arrange the specific times.
3. Please figure out how much you want to spend in each session prior to meeting with me. If you overspend and don't have enough inventory space to keep all of your loot it probably will not be a good use of both our time together. I will keep an accounting of how many merits you have left to spend after each session to keep you updated.
4. All merit rewards will be considered redeemed in full after January 15, 2010, regardless of how many you have left to spend with me.
5. I will have very limited time in-game after the contest on Saturday so I may not be available to give out very many merit rewards that day.
6. Merit rewards will not be transferable to other accounts. I will spend merit rewards as directed by the winning toon's account only and pass the result onto that toon. -
I think the 2nd sentence needs a little tweak.

Quote:I've always noticed the STF is chintzy with drops.Yes.
Ask Lord_of_Time, he has the actual numbers.
Also, Bab's mentioned it about a year and half ago (i11?), when drop rates were actually changed to be dependent upon the difficulty of certain encounters (certain TF missions have higher rewards; a quick intuitive note, check out how often people claim to get purples from an RSF run as compared to an ITF. now note how many mobs you kill). -
Quote:The best player I know in the game has an invuln tank and she RPs her catgurl.Yet my invuln can tank anything in the game, up to and including Lord Recluse in the Statesman task force. At this point, I think we have to conclude that the problems lie elsewhere than the invuln set.
Seeya.
It takes a concerted effort for me to deliberately try to force mobs onto her tank to even challenge her. This is using force bub on my /FF to push 8+ mobs onto her during final ITF encounters with Rommie or as many 54 rikti on top of her herds during a ship raid. I think she is amused by my attempts to kill her in a Pink Panther sort of way.
I'm pretty sure the OP wants to be mad and wants to stay mad. Until s/he decides to calm down there's nothing anyone can do to help him/her. -
The estimated total of awards in this first contest is approximately 10 billion. I guess I went a bit overboard.

Quote:I have nothing of note to add other than saying that your title reminded me of Rudolph the red nosed reindeer.I have a mission with a collection item that activates upon the rescue of an escort (it activates on the rescue, before you lead them out).
The collection does indeed become active (you can click it and complete the objective), but it fails to glow and make noise once it becomes active. This naturally means people who play it will have trouble with that objective.
I have tried several things to make this work: changing the object; adding a 2nd collection; removing the collection and then adding it back in. No glow - no sound.
Anyone see this before? Anyone have any ideas?
That is all. Merry Xmas. -
This is the Estimated Market Value (EMV) of the prizes to be awarded (potentially, since only 1 faction will be awarded the grand prize, 2nd place and 3rd place. Note that all of the door prizes will be given away.
The EMV totals the influence or infamy, task force merits as converted to recipes, and AH estimates for all recipes and enhancements. And yes, the B stands for Billion.
Hero Grand Prize (EMV = 3.3B Influence)
Villain Grand Prize (EMV = 4.8B Infamy)
Hero Second Place (EMV =690M Influence)
Villain Second Place (EMV =860M Infamy)
Hero Third Place (EMV = 325M Influence)
Villain Third Place (EMV = 450M Infamy)
Newbs 380M Inf
Best Team/SG (EMV=2B Inf)
Door Prizes Villains (EMV =460M)
Door Prizes Heroes (EMV=1.52B Influence)
The total amount of prizes that can be awarded are estimated to be valued at 9.6 Billion influece/infamy.
Edit: as an aside, I was surprised at the prize values for heroes and villains. I didn't pick specific IOs or Hamis based on how much they trade for, so the disparity was interesting. The same goes for the door prizes, and strangely enough the hero door prizes kind of balance out the difference in the main costume prize packages.
One more thing about door prizes, everyone who attends will be eligible for a door prize, with the exception of Judges, finalists and contest winners. However, if a door prize is won by any finalists or winners before they are chosen as such, they get to keep the door prize. As stated previously, Chloe's method of choosing who wins/gets what is up to her.
I have no idea whether she has chosen a random draw or a mini game or skills type contest or any combination thereof. Other than what I've just put forth here, her decision is final so if you have any concerns regarding the door prizes, its already out of my hands.
Also, I never intended on this being a 10B inf contest. I just sort of got carried away with the whole deal but I'm sure it will be a lot of fun.
All of the awards have now been passed onto Chloe's Bankers, so with the exception of awarding merits, I'll be a passive observer just like everyone else.
Good luck to everyone who's looking to compete and otherwise participate and thanks to everyone who has given me encouragement and support and helped me promote this little shindig. -
I was just suggesting you could put it in the forums where all the letters are getting read instead of cai and me putting in a pity post for you.
No need to be snarky about things. Look what it brings out in people. -
Prolly better to post this to the official letter thread or out of the server specific forums.

Was the nvidia driver ever fixed so you didn't have to run in single monitor acceleration mode when hooked up to multiple monitors?

Quote:Uh, because private channels should be banned?Kestrel, this isn't aimed at you - you mention it, but you weren't the first to bring it up.
Why on earth is there even a discussion on private channels ongoing in this thread? Both Justice United and JfA2010 are open channels and if you're looking for teams or whatnot, go there.
Maybe I missed it, but up until Alt's rambling and as usual pointless post, no one was seriously discussing it in this thread, so it really is a non-sequitor.
No one associated with Justice United, or JfA for that matter, is suggesting that the Justice server become exclusive to certain cliques or groups or whatnot - far from it.

Uh, because this is Justice?

Quote:Is the ski slope comment also in jest? I manage to get all 3 badges with Super Speed only, although the jump pack temp power from the bank missions came in handy to even get better times. What were people saying about PvP build requirements ? I forget.*
*That is sarcasm
Edit: Just a note on that, I finally got the ski slope badges , Combat jumping, swift, hurdle and superspeed ftw. Somebody has to tell me what the skill and achievement were in picking the required powers in a build or where the great joy should have been for the people being chain teleported. ( I am guessing that worked for them, I wasn't in the chain)
PS. Final prizes are up for the costume contest. -

Quote:Apparently PvP drops only actually help forum PvP.Pum drops Merits now ? I thought he was just a never ending pot of inf giveaways.
Speaking of droppings, I'll be posting the prize list including door prizes on the main thread tonight. Some of those droppings will be PvP IOs.
Carry on. -
Quote:There's no guarantee that enabling Eyefinity wouldn't attempt to insert the perspective altering code into the rendering pipeline, regardless of what the field of view restriction is; this might interact in strange ways with the current CoX graphics engine. That's why I was just saying until someone has tried Eyefinity on current CoX, I would just rather be pleasantly surprised than disappointed.I believe that is irrelevant to CoX because as previously mentioned CoX will not allow increased angular perspective. The only thing larger monitors (or composite displays) can do is make the picture bigger, not more panoramic.
Only if UltraMode eliminates that restriction is there any chance for panoramic distortion, and the lack of accounting for it won't make Eyefinity "incompatible" with UltraMode. It might just fail to remove some of the distortion that most games have when played ultrawide screen (and its questionable if removing the distortion is even the "correct" thing to do in all cases).
Given the current state of ATi/AMD card support with CoX features, I wouldn't gamble on any feature compatibility until it was demonstrated. -
I've done 8 man posi in 58 min and 3 man in 1:02, although it may even be faster now that the exemp system gives powers up level 20 now instead of level 15. The 3 man was all 50s, the 8 man was 6 50s and 2 lowbees getting some xp.

Quote:I've windowed CoX across multiple monitors on my GTX280, but Eyefinity also has a peripheral distortion adjustment to correct for field of view (when looking at the central monitor). I'm not certain if CoX works with that, so that's why I am reserving any compatibility until someone has run a test. Call me a pessimist if you will.I would presume yes, but with a caveat. I don't know if CoX will properly detect the Eyefinity single view resolution, but I do know that CoX works fine even on non-Eyefinity multiple monitor setups in Windowed mode. I can make a windowed (circa) 3840 x 1200 (1920x1200 x 2) CoX window. You just need the horsepower to drive resolutions that high. So if CoX doesn't properly handle the ultralarge eyefinity display, it almost certainly will allow for a windowed client across the eyefinity display.

Quote:In theory, displayport technology allows for displays to be chained together in a point to point manner. I don't know how many displays maximum the 5xxx series is capable of working with, but if you want 3 x 2560x1600, you will need a an active dual-dvi adapter to plug into the displayport if your third 30" monitor is dvi based, which adds another $100.Everything I've seen from AMD says that the 5750, 5770, 5850, and 5870 will all support Eyefinity. Abet, for most of those you would be limited to 3 screens max (2DVI 1DisplayPort), that is until we see the 6DP model(s?) arrive.
Yeah my understanding is that it looks like 'one monitor' to the game, but I've no idea if the game is going to properly present me with the choice for a 5760x1080 or 5760x1200 'display', nor if the game engine itself is able to deal with calculating for that many pixels. I mean 57x12 is well beyond 'widescreen' or 'landscape' and well into the land of 'panaramic'
Even tricker would be to see if it would allow me to do 3240x1920 or 3600x1920 if you have monitors that can be flipped to 'portrait' mode.
and yeah, those old Matrox cards were the bomb, nice to see the technology resurfacing in a way
As far as Eyefinity is concerned, until someone definitively states that CoX is working with it, I would presume no. From everything I've seen so far, part of Ultra's upgrade is to get in line with proper device driver support so things like Eyefinity and other additions won't have to be explicitly coded for.
Besides, the maximum field of view of CoX has been reduced since its inception, so extra wide views do NOT get you any more peripheral vision, it actually just enlarges the graphics to match the maximum allowed width. This means extra wide screens actually cut down on the vertical field of view in CoX. I would guess they did this for PvP to ensure a 'level' playing field. -

Quote:You never stipulated what size or kind of mobs you want farmed, and whether or not bosses or involved or even the level of the player and mob. That is the question. All things being equal, mobs, inf in build, and player ability, who is the fastest at farming? Some people say F.Kin is still number one. If you take a max built F.kin and put him up against any other build Blue side the F.Kin will win. That's not my opinion just one I am echoing from many sources. Let the debate begin, who REALLY IS the BEST?
May as well ask what the bestest car is too.
