    Your best bet is to ask someone like Macskull by PM. From what I gather, the player > toon, so any specific insights the real hardcores have will give you a much better idea of what powers to take, how to use them and what odds you face.

    If you are using zone rules, movement suppression might take away any mobility advantage he may have, although kinetics are supposedly not a very good set in PvP atm.

    If you are really nice, perhaps they could give you some arena time with them to figure things out as well.

    As it is now: IO sets at lvl 50 are the most expensive. Typically.
    Recipes that are in the 30-33 lvl range are the 2nd most expensive.

    If the set bonuses did exempt down, then suddenly the lvl 34 recipe is a tiny bit more expensive than the 33, because it is more powerful.

    As it stands now - recipes between 34 - 49 are less desirable. Change the exemption, and suddenly this group is worth more.

    Now I don't have to wait a month for a potentially desirable recipe to hit the market at level 33. I can buy the lvl 35.
    Part of the reason that enhancements have different desirability is dependent upon their scaling. 34-49 have the same scaling factor numerator as 50 so you are getting less magnitude of bonus on the primary functions of the power and slotting, and not simply the bonus. Level 50s will still be more sensible to add in every case (except if you are aiming not to cross the Minor Bonus Threshold) for a specific exemp level. A level 50 will have more slots and a higher magnitude (even factoring ED) to enhance either multiple facets or pursue things like defense capping.

    You see that there is a 1.5% difference between level 40 and level 50? It is negligible but everyone still prefers the 50. Go figure. People like the higher level stuff because the min/maxers feel better about putting that stuff in, not that it does that much more. If you actually wanted functionality, you should buy the level 30 set so you'd get better usage during exemping and other play, so even now, where level 30s can perform slightly worse but still grant the set bonuses at a low level, people still want the 50.

    You can always simply roll for merits at your appropriate level, or buy them with merits directly and set/specify the level. No need to wait on the market to provide for you if you are that desperate to get a specific recipe.

    With Enhancement Diversification, slotting of most powers for entire sets won't change a lot numerically speaking, but for some reason the pricing will always favour the level 50, because the perception is that the highest is the best. Note that even though a 50 will lose their bonus just as much as a 49, the moment you give a 49 the set bonus when exemped to 30, the 50 will also have the set bonus. Therefore any competitive feature advantage you were hoping to give is already lost, so why wouldn't someone choose the 50 again?

    All recipes are viable to achieve a bonus, and the lower ones already do it at the lower levels and UP. You want to change all those Nos to Yeses.

    Granting the bonus to exemplaring at lower/mid levels won't have any affect on the supply, and the demand will change to be guaranteed at the highest level, so your opposite effect strategy would backfire. Prices for 50s will go UP and the demand for the lower stuff (level 30) will lower even further, dropping the prices. Yay for the lowbees getting a nice drop that is worth anything in the market...not.

    This would be like introducing 'improved' PvP features against the wishes of the PvP population. Ooops.

    i13 improvements in a nutshell.

    Besides, who cares if the prices come down? You have said the game is easy enough already with SOs, so set bonuses and other factors really don't matter since everyone can earn enough inf quickly enough to buy any non-purple /non-pvp recipe they want at pretty much any price.

    Yah I did a whois on cityofheros.com and it is registered to ncsoft and the dns goes through ncaustin.com.

    You probably can't log in because they want you to go to the right domain, and the web forum software probably has a single domain license or somesuch.

    NC owns it because it would be a perfect place to phish or redirect to competitors or sell adwords.

    I think it's telling that this recipe weights closer to 3x in the 10-14 range (the one we have the more data on) but 2x in later ranges. Most people who know what they're doing will slot the lower level recipe in order to keep the bonus while exemplared down, making the low range recipe weighted higher than others.
    Another interesting part of this story is not just the weighting but also the number of other recipes in that particular group.

    The 10-14 level Zephyr has a 1 in 24 chance of appearing, while the 25-29 Zephyr has a 1 in 75 chance of appearing (if you were to look at it as 2x as opposed to 1.7x). If you were looking to roll and get a Zephyr knockback recipe, the 10-14 is 3 times more likely to appear than in 25-29.

    That toon has been stuck since i4 with HOs. Took a 16 month 'break' before the troller nerf went live and then ED, which meant there were no recipes and set bonuses like we have today. I've had to 'make do' with slotting over SOs, combining HOs in order to shim in a few procs and uniques along the way since doing 5 respecs in a row to pull out all the Hamis was laborious and frankly ridiculous. No 2nd builds and no respec recipes then too.

    I've got a couple of more toons like that.

    HOs used to give a bonus that was +50% (L50) as opposed to +38.3% (L53) on a single aspect (schedule A?) so they were more powerful than SOs. With no ED capping, HOs were way more powerful and multiaspect as well.

If complaints were made in large numbers outside of these forums then the response we have seen to this point would be very different.
    If you could add some paragraph breaks it would be a little bit easier to read.

    I'm not sure what they are doing regarding PvP changes in the future, but they have admitted to making mistakes in the past (and changing/reverting them). I don't think this is as one sided a conversation as most people would think, but definitely implementing the PvP changes in i13 didn't help the playerbase at all.

    My only concern with going through all of the effort will be that if the weightings get "tweaked" because we've uncovered something that needed fixing then all of the accumulated data will no longer be applicable to the updated game.

    I'm not sure if Synapse would give a thumbs up to say that everything will be OK if we do a single large sample or not, but it would be my preference if he did so we can go hog wild on the rest of the groups.

    I wouldn't dissuade anyone from contributing good data anyhow, but it would be nice to have a clear sense of where we would like to go with it. One of the things I'd like to know is if we have a clear consensus on when is enough per category (obviously it will never be too much). Is the 500 rolls enough? 1000? 10,000?

    That's some very interesting information. We're definitely trending to a 10x range in most categories instead of a 5x range as given. (Edit: some are moving to 5x now as sample sizes are getting larger)

    I think we should concentrate on 1 category to reduce as much variance as possible and see how it lines up with what Synapse has given us. That way he can look at the actual numbers compared to what he has intended and see if anything needs tweaking to get into line with what they want. (Or maybe there is more information that Synapse has yet to tell us?)

    *If* the current algorithm/weighting system isn't working as intended, then going through _all_ of the various levels will basically be archived once a patch goes through to correct those weights.

    The easiest set to work with will be the one with the smallest number of recipes, but that is also balanced with the current data that we have already collected. I'd propose 10-14 (fewest recipes like TopDoc proposed) or 20-24 (most rolled so far).

    It all depends on the Devs' intentions here. If they want it to be a 2 Team Minimum, then that is that. Your suggestion for a single team will work if the Devs would allow it.

    Unfortunately, most Event missions generally lack for enough participants after the first few days, and almost nobody is interested in the last few days. Which is too bad.
    It's doable with a single team. 6 or 7 would be about the minimum, although I'd guess that 5 high-end toons with experienced players could do it.
