Any Mid's experts out there to help me with this?
Buddy of mine wants start using Mid's to build his toons. He downloads it fine. But when he does, it doesn't work well. Buttons are missing. When he clicks on a power to add, nothing happens. Sometimes something he clicked a minute ago would just pop up.
His machine runs CoH moderately well.
He is running Windows XP.
He already updated Net Framework.
He has newest version of Mid's.
Any ideas? -
This happens to all squishies at one time or another. Here's what I do to mitigate it, if it seems to be happening:
1) Don't be "first in." If there is a tank, or some Phantom Army, or something else, let them grab the first attention. Once the mobs have a target, go at it.
2) Stay mobile. Treat every mission like its Battle Maiden on the Apex. Stick and move. This is especially useful if you have slotted for +ranged defense. Don't stand still if they are all after you. Hiding is standing still. Run to a spot, attack, run to another spot, attack, rinse, repeat. This worked especially great on AV battles with lots of minions who are all over you. Go to one side of the AV, shoot something, wait for them to close, go to the other side of the AV, repeat. In that situation, you are dragging the weirdly-aggroed minions and lts through the AoE being spammed at the boss and you are certainly being useful because they aren't defending their boss if they are chasing you down.
3) Use inspirations. -
Have a Happy Valentine's yourself, Cai! You can never have too much bifurcation, right?

I just tried Master-Blade's workaround and it worked PERFECTLY. I'm not sure what I lost in that old file, but there is now a new one with my account name on it. Should I just keep it as is, toss the old file or just leave it renamed there?
Thanks, Master-Blade. You made my day. -

I think Kahn is easier than LGTF... at the very least, it's shorter.

Well, different groups run it differently, but mez protection and stealth is very handy. Also a couple of EoEs can make the hami mish much easier.
It's a highly-stealthable TF if you have SS and mez protection. -
Last night, I logged out for the night and several minutes later changed my mind and decided to run one more mission, but when I tried to log in, it said my account was already logged in. I clicked and went to the server screen, but when I hit my server (or any server, for that matter), the screen crashed with an error message.
My girlfriend's account logs in just fine on the same machine. Last night, an in-game friend recommended I just wait until morning. So I did. And it still isn't working.
Any recommendations? -
Don't they realize what all these mass disconnects are doing to my AFK farm while I'm here at work!?

You know, I have that same old card. It's still chugging along, but I have considered replacing it. I swapped it in for the piece of crap that came with the machine, my first time performing such an operation. My main obstacle in the process was that the 8800 barely fit in the space in the machine, and as it was I had cords pulled over areas that I thought they would be better clear of. But it all has worked fine anyway.
Are the newer cards, the 540 for example, much bigger in physical size than the 8800? Because if so, I'm not sure how I would ever get it to fit in that space. -
My favorite proc in my favorite purple set. The proc itself is SO effective, and frankly, fun as all hell. And just to add: the bonuses in that purple set are the best. I think every one of my toons that can slot Confuse has it 6-slotted with that set. The set has great bonuses, a wonderful proc, and it is relatively affordable.

Happened to me last night as well, about 4:30pm PT, Justice server. I went back to login screen and tried again and it all worked fine.

I have a level 50 Grav/FF/Primal that is at the ranged def cap. He has the tier 2 incarnate and was built pretty much on the cheap, minus the LotGs, but few purples and PvPIOs. I don't have the build handy here at work, but I can answer specific questions or critique a build.
By the way, I don't believe grav/FF is underpowered at all. In fact, there are times when I feel like it is one of the most overpowered sets I play. Your bubbles keep the team standing, your control is among the best, your pet is awesome at keeping you from worrying at all about melee (making hitting the ranged cap doubly effective), and Propel+Power Blast is a nice one-two ranged punch. plus, you have some quirky -if oft underused- powers with great effects, like Wormhole and Force Bubble. -
Crazy thing is, we weren't even trying to get a fast time. It kind of just happened. And it was immediately preceded by a 20-minute Apex. I'm thinking that with a team of eight +1s and no reforming between, we could do Apex and Tin Mage in 30 minutes.

I'm with the other posters here. I don't think we need more slots. The only small change I would make is that I think at level 49, we should be able to choose between our last power or three slots. On some builds the last power is superfluous, but a few extra slots could make a HUGE difference. On other toons, it's better to have the extra power. It would allow a little more individuality. But, even that is unnecessary, in my opinion.

The devs are accountable for what IOs you want for your toon?
Wait. Why did I get in this conversation? You ever have that moment just as you are locking the keys in your car, where the door is swinging closed and you know your keys are in there, but you don't act and the door slams? I just had one of those, and now I'm about to hit Submit Reply. -
I got plenty of xp, but not as much as I thought I would.
We started a troupe of clown-themed corruptors and dominators and I got from 1 to 31. Some others on the team got to 36, I think.
I got my KM/FA brute from 21 to 32.
And I got a few levels here and there on assorted toons. -

My criterion:
A- Good reward-to-time ratio
B- Seeing stuff you don't see in mission content (rooms, groups, AVs, objectives, etc.)
C- Need for teamwork and coordination
D- Speed (not always necessary, but having the option is essential)
E- Higher levels are better (I can't stand suddenly being without my toon-defining power that I have been rocking for 30 levels.)
1. Apex
2. ITF
3. Tin Mage
4. Mender Silos (I wish I ran it more)
5. STF
6. Kahn
7. LGTF
8. LRSF
9. Manticore (all-blaster manti, was one of the best times ever)
10. New Positron (could be higher, but rewards are meh)
The only ones I hate are Synapse, Citadel and the too-long shard ones. -

You also need to figure that "the way they are now" has a lot to do with the influence of farmers. I don't know what percentage of all PvPIO drops are collected by farmers, but I would guess that it is pretty high, maybe as high as 80% and certainly more than half.
Remove farmers and you devastate the supply, thereby raising the prices, and making the building of toons -especially PvP toons- even tougher.
I know that when I'm cruising through a PvP zone to get nukes or badges, and I see a farm, I don't break it up. I figure the reason why many of those PvPIOs are still in eight digits is because of the supply they generate. I'll probably have to tip mish my way to a Glad Armor Unique, but lots of the other stuff has a decent supply on the market. -
Quote:This is part of why people think Devices is so lame. You don't really notice that you hit EVERYTHING, all the time. It's not as noticeable as big orange numbers, but it really is half of the effect of Buildup/Aim and you get it for every attack, always.this isn't the norm)[*]Targetting Drone is amazing...forget Build Up. I can constantly hit my target as long as this toggle is running. CoT ghosts, and +1's mean absolutely nothing to me. Burst damage for 10 seconds is very highly overrated when you consider "never" missing. Of course you could just put the Gaussian's proc in this power like I did.
What is best about Devices is subtle and what it doesn't do is obvious, so the truth of the set is obfuscated. -
Okay, devices isn't great.
But there are some VERY useful powers in it, just not as many as in other sets.
Caltrops is wonderful. Slot it with procs and watch it go.
Targeting Drone is a boon to ACC. It's nice not having to worry about accuracy and be able to slot for damage without worrying about it.
Cloaking Device is a nice defensive/stealth power.
The rest of the set is meh, with very situational powers. I really like Gun Drone, but I can see why some people don't. Others like the mines which I can't stand.
I like Devices if I have a primary and several pools that I really want to draw from and I'd rather not have to miss all those skipped powers from my secondary. It makes for a build that has some flexibility, which is always nice, especially if you are used to tight builds where there are tons of powers you wish you had and couldn't fit in.
